The wizard era begins with the alchemist wizard

Chapter 970 Calculation, Soul Reconstruction

Chapter 970 Calculation, Soul Reconstruction

Thank you for your understanding.

Richard bowed slightly, but his voice was almost mechanically cold.

At this moment, he felt his mind was incredibly clear, and those chaotic thoughts were being sorted out in an orderly manner.

He was perfectly clear that he was on the right track.

Physical evolution stems from survival, while spiritual evolution stems from reason. The combination of the two creates a purely rational evolver, a true apex predator—a civilization devourer.

But at the same time, he also acknowledged that this was not the only path.

If the path of the civilization devourer is unique, then he should not have been defeated by the imperfect Titan King.

Is humanity really that important?

A question flashed through Richard's mind.

If he abandons this path, then his choice may not be the right one.

For him, being wrong meant death, and even the destruction of the entire Civilization Alliance.

"Human nature is of course important."

Richard said this to himself.

"If I had no humanity, my best decision would have been to abandon the Forge of Miracles and get away from this hellhole."

Human nature has shaped who I am today.

If I abandon my humanity, then I will have betrayed my past self.

Richard didn't know whether his answer stemmed from rational thought or from the last vestige of humanity within his soul.

But that was his answer.

He cannot abandon his humanity, abandon those seemingly imperfect qualities, in order to seek that absolutely perfect evolved being.

"The goods have arrived."

As Richard examines his own thoughts and inner self, the dimensional incarnation has already brought over the computing chip.

The chip looked unremarkable, only about the size of a person's palm. However, when Richard's gaze fell upon it, he saw an almost endless array of tiny structures.

The structure of this chip resembles a Peano curve, and within this finite-area chip, Richard saw an almost infinite number of minute structures.

"The Supreme Beings are different from the Titans. The Titans love grand things. They love continents, mountains, and the world-like astral whales, and the almost endless astral plane."

The highest being, however, prefers small things.

They ventured into the deepest recesses of the world, constantly exploring its smallest structure. This line of thought also influenced the most precious treasures of civilization.

"So it's infinite?" Richard said, almost in amazement.

The fact that he could utter such a cry in this almost emotionless state is enough to show how shocking this thing was to him.

“Nearly infinite,” the dimensional avatar corrected. “Apart from endless dimensions and the astral plane, nothing is infinite.”

The Supreme Beings determined that there must be a limit to the chip. However, this limit is meaningless to us.

Unless we become higher-level beings, we will never be able to reach this boundary.

Richard took the chip, and the moment he touched it, he felt a tremor.

This stirring seemed to come from his soul, no, it came from something deeper.

This stirring of emotion comes from his destiny!
"Are there even spare parts?"

Richard said expressionlessly, then connected his soul to the chip.

In that instant, Richard felt as if another version of himself had appeared. The chip seemed to have copied him, or rather, simulated him.

"No wonder it was a precise doubling."

With the increased computing power, Richard's efficiency doubled. There were no tricks to understanding soul structures; it was all about accumulating pure computing power. Richard needed to rely on numerous known soul structures and the empirical formulas and models accumulated over many years by several civilizations to gradually simulate new soul structures.

It was a tedious and lengthy process, but Richard felt no emotion whatsoever.

His soul, like a machine, executed his will with perfect precision, without the slightest interference throughout the entire process.

"Is this the state of that monster? Near-absolute rationality, near-absolute willpower... It truly is a monster."

The calculations lasted a long time, but fortunately the civilization devourers stopped their attack, and the Wizarding Alliance was training a new army and focusing on arms production and research, so Richard was unharmed.

Three years have passed in the blink of an eye.

In the dimension of the furnace people, Richard sat cross-legged on the ground, the space around his body constantly expanding and contracting with his almost imperceptible breathing.

Over the course of those three years, Richard tried 952 different models and failed 952 times.

However, each failure brought Richard closer to the result he was seeking.

"The 953rd reconstruction begins."

Richard calmly recited the number of tests, then focused intently on reconstructing the soul structure.

The soul is an essential thing possessed by the vast majority of living beings in this world. It is the source of consciousness and the medium and bridge for life to precisely control energy.

Therefore, every civilization has sages who specialize in the study of the soul. And within the Wizarding Alliance, the civilization that has the deepest understanding of the soul is the Eye Demon, the most recent addition to the alliance.

Their symbiotic relationship with particles, along with their own talents, has led them to a profound understanding of the soul.

In the Eye Demon's research, the soul is a manifestation of the aggregation of soul particles, and its properties are not the same as those of soul particles. This is somewhat similar to wave-particle duality; soul particles are particles, but when they aggregate together, they exhibit the wave-like phenomenon of "soul."

By changing its structure, the nature that the soul exhibits also changes.

The most basic change in this structure is the transformation of the soul during advancement, followed by the development of soul talents.

The Eye Demons have conducted in-depth research; they can completely transform the soul of one being into the soul of another. Alternatively, they can inscribe some kind of magic onto the soul, directly allowing for hereditary reproduction.

Out of gratitude to Richard, and also for the purpose of exchanging technology, the Eye Demon shared a large amount of research data on souls with Richard and the Wizarding Alliance.

Some of these top-secret documents, visible only to Richard, were recorded using technology even more advanced than that of previous civilization alliances.

This is the significance of exchanges between civilizations.

As Richard gets into character, he observes his own soul from both first-person and third-person perspectives.

This perspective is strange; it's as if Richard can see both the inside and outside of his soul at the same time, and the two views overlap.

After numerous adjustments, Richard's soul structure underwent a significant change compared to before. After the trials, his soul structure became a state that was almost pieced together.

But now, that situation has changed.

If Richard's soul were to be described with a vivid metaphor, it would be like a primitive magnetic core memory, something akin to a woven fabric.

Of course, this is just a metaphor.

In this state, Richard's soul retains its rationality while gaining the ability to generate and experience emotions. Furthermore, his computational abilities are significantly enhanced.

However, so far, Richard has only managed to retain his rationality and greatly improve his calculation ability. There are still some questions about his original goal—to retain his humanity.

Of course, this doesn't mean Richard couldn't feel emotions. Rather, it's because in this structure, the tremors in the soul's structure caused by emotions are amplified dozens or even hundreds of times.

What might have started as a feeling of disappointment now feels like a sense of utter despair.

This was clearly not the result Richard wanted.

Under Richard's influence, the complex structure of his soul began to change. The structure of the threads began to change, and the weaving also began to alter.

As a master of the dimensional weaving method, Richard had a great deal of knowledge about lines and weaving.

This is why he structured his soul in this way.

Having attempted the task over nine hundred times, Richard was adept at all of it. Initially, these tasks would often take him one or two days, or even more than a week, but now he could complete them in minutes.

This is also why he was able to try so many times in two years.

The interwoven threads, through structural adjustments, appear thicker and less prone to violent vibrations. The woven structure also incorporates numerous knots, making the overall structure highly earthquake-resistant.

In this structure, the intense soul tremor is greatly weakened.

Of course, this is only in comparison to before.

Compared to his original soul, Richard's current emotions are still intense.

"That's it."

Richard opened his eyes. Although his voice was cold, it had taken on a human quality and was no longer the completely mechanical, monstrous voice he had before.

The dimensional avatar appeared beside him the moment he opened his eyes; clearly, the dimensional avatar had been watching him, the chosen one, all along.

Its voice carried a hint of sigh.

"A new generation surpasses the old; I can no longer see through you."

Richard calmly replied, "That's normal, because your soul has been hidden by dimensions."

"When will the limit be broken?" the dimensional avatar asked.

After two years of adjustments, Richard's soul structure was almost completely reconstructed. The remaining part of the structure was his original soul structure, the anchor point of this current structure.

Breaking the limit means destroying this anchor point.

If successful, Richard's soul will be completely liberated. But if he fails, Richard's soul will reassemble in its most primal form, and everything will start anew.

"Once everything is ready, the ceremony will begin."

As he spoke, Richard was about to inform old Abel to prepare the materials.

However, just as he was about to make the notification, a foreign mental fluctuation suddenly passed through his carefully prepared soul and entered his soul directly.

Richard frowned slightly and immediately began searching for the source of this soul fluctuation.

His soul defenses were no joke; the fact that they could penetrate them meant there was a backdoor in them. And in doing so, Richard quickly discovered the source of the soul fluctuations.

"A demon mask?"

Richard was startled and immediately began searching within his own dimensional space.

Soon, a piece of chalk emanating soul energy appeared before him.

"Oh no, something's wrong with the Ghost World!"
