The wizard era begins with the alchemist wizard
Chapter 869 The Hermit's Robe
Chapter 869 The Hermit's Robe
The Spirit Desert Civilization's inter-world teleportation technology is something called the Eye of the Storm.
These storm eyes look like a never-ending tornado, with countless black sand grains swirling within.
Looking beyond the surface, Richard could see that the essence of this storm was the same as that of a wizard's portal: both created spatial singularities to entangle each other, thereby opening a passage between two worlds.
However, compared to the wizards' technology, the sand spirits' technology is somewhat backward.
Richard and Sandman arrived at the eye of the storm. Although he could travel through endless dimensions, Sandman was unwilling to reveal the coordinates of his mother world before forming an alliance.
Therefore, Richard could only travel through inter-domain channels, going from one world to another.
Upon entering the storm's interior, the anticipated sandstorm did not occur—the sand was merely a projection of the inner curtain, having no effect whatsoever on the outer curtain.
The wind howled in Richard's ears, the sound seeming distant, as if from another world.
As the wind howled, Richard felt his surroundings suddenly begin to spin, and a suction force suddenly enveloped him, as if he were inside a straw, with a guy with an amazing lung capacity sucking in air at the other end.
hum!
A buzzing sound rang in Richard's ears.
This was not Richard's tinnitus, but rather a resonance of energy around him.
The next moment, Richard, like a pearl in a bubble tea, found himself in a pitch-black passage.
However, the suction force did not disappear. It carried Richard rapidly towards the other side of the passage.
"What is this? A boost?"
Richard said to Sha Mantian beside him.
Sha Mantian was a strange creature with a wolf's head and a human body. Upon hearing Richard's news, he smiled and said, "Yes, an aid."
Ordinary sand spirits enter the eye of the storm by boat, but the propulsion systems of these boats can easily damage the structure of the passage. Therefore, our alchemists added suction as an auxiliary propulsion system, allowing these ships to fly within the passage without using their own propulsion.
Richard nodded slightly and replied, "Once we join the Wizarding Alliance, we won't need this kind of power anymore. Our interdimensional travel method works on a similar principle to yours."
"Really? That's great!"
The mother world of the Sand Spirits is not the center of the Spirit Desert civilization; its location is actually closer to the edge of the world community.
In the past, this location slowed the expansion of the Lingmo civilization. But in this era of war, it has ironically made the core of the Lingmo civilization safer.
Following the route planned by the Sand Spirit Emperor, Richard traveled through six worlds before finally reaching Sand Spirit's mother world.
Along the way, Richard witnessed many aspects of the world under the rule of the Spirit Desert civilization.
The dragons built magnificent cities on the earth out of metal, and in these cities known as dragon nests, the dragons were like flocks of birds.
Outside the dragon's lair, the Sand Spirits use massive amounts of earth element to reshape the world's surface, making it appear as a world with an imbalance of earth element.
However, the Sand Spirits will establish one nature reserve after another underground to protect the unique creatures and landforms of this world.
These protected areas replicate the surface features of the earth to a perfect 1:1 scale, with climate and temperature exactly the same as the earth's surface.
Even Richard had to admire the advanced technology of the Sandling Nature Reserve, which was able to recreate an underground world.
If this technology can be widely adopted and developed, then altering the climate and environment will no longer be a difficult task.
Perhaps even those worlds with imbalanced elements can be corrected.
After spending almost half a year, Richard finally arrived in the Great World of Sand Spirit.
"Wow, you've actually transformed the entire Great World!"
Stepping out of the eye of the storm, Li looked around at the vast, endless sea of sand, a look of surprise flashing across his face.
“No, it’s just that the eye of the storm is in our territory,” Sha Mantian replied. “The dragon’s territory has not been altered; it still retains much of the features of the past world.”
"Oh? Then why aren't there any dragons on our road?" Richard asked curiously.
"Because this route is through the territory of the Sand Spirit Emperor. If you travel through the territory of the dragons, you will find that the Sand Spirit desert is often only a small part of its original habitat."
As he spoke, sand flew into the sky.
"Fly east from here and you'll enter the Prophet's Desert."
Richard came to his side, somewhat surprised, and asked, "Aren't you coming along?"
"The sage invited you to come, not me," Sha Mantian replied in surprise. "What if the sage doesn't show up after I go?"
Richard was speechless. He hadn't expected that Sand Spirit would trust him, an outsider, so much that he was comfortable letting him go to a place like the Holy Land.
They weren't afraid of him causing any trouble.
Following the direction indicated by Sha Mantian, Richard saw a magnificent black pyramid in just a few minutes.
This black pyramid looks unremarkable, just like the tomb pyramid of Sandling, only much larger.
But upon closer inspection, one will discover that the pyramid is covered with ancient runes and patterns.
Drawn by these runic patterns, the entire Black Pyramid was enveloped in a mysterious power. Countless cursed creatures were summoned, then bound and fused with the pyramid, ultimately transforming into an indescribable monster.
If it were a weaker creature, or one with a better level of intelligence, it would go crazy just by looking at this pyramid.
Even the ruler of the world, upon realizing the truth about this pyramid, would fall into a state of mental chaos.
"Such a grand display?"
Richard raised an eyebrow and then landed in front of the Black Pyramid.
On the wall of the pyramid, there is a tiny entrance disproportionate to its size—the passageway through which the body exited. Normally, this passage is only used for exiting. But today, it serves as a welcoming passage.
In the spiritual vision, the twisted pyramid roars silently, and the passageway leading into the pyramid transforms into a deep mouth amidst its roar.
Its mouthparts are filled with sharp teeth and covered with tentacles, among which are embedded the bodies of countless cursed creatures.
However, this is the only entrance to the pyramids.
"Testing?"
Richard remained expressionless and pulled his miracle manual from his pocket.
The next instant, a rebuke rang out like a thunderclap, instantly resounding throughout the entire desert.
"Go away!"
hum!
Richard radiated boundless holy light, and his rebuke was like a divine blade, instantly cleaving the pyramid's mouth open. Immediately afterwards, flames burning with runes ignited at the wound, rendering all cursed creatures mere fuel before them.
Of course, all of this is a contest of mysterious forces.
If Richard were still spiritually immune, he wouldn't see anything at this moment and wouldn't be affected in the slightest.
Richard entered the passageway, flames burning around him, constantly incinerating the attacking cursed creatures.
The unseen entity continued to emit silent roars, spewing out all sorts of terrible curses as if they were free, solely to kill Richard.
Unfortunately, all these curses were blocked by the Holy Light and became one of the impurities purified by the Holy Light.
Richard strode across the passageway.
Behind him was endless holy light and the silent wails of monsters.
At the end of the passageway was a tomb chamber, which had now been converted into a reception room.
In the center of the hall, a giant scale was swaying back and forth. On either side of the scale, two dog-headed, human-bodied sand spirits were constantly adding and removing dark weights.
"Hello, sages of Sandling."
Richard bowed slightly to the scales.
Appearances are illusions to beings at the level of a ruler, even though the two dog-headed, human-bodied sand spirits seem to be the sages.
But Richard immediately recognized that the true sage was the scales before him, which resembled an object.
"You finally came."
A strange sound came from the scales, a sound that sounded like many people speaking in unison.
“The cursed wizard is right, you are a creature with great potential.”
Richard smiled slightly. Sure enough, the sages of Sand Spirit wanted to see him because of an agreement with the Crown of Curses.
"It seems you and the Cursed Crown should have a deal."
"That's right. He made a deal with me before he left."
The Sand Spirits on either side of the scales looked at Richard, seemingly representing the scales looking at him.
"He asked me to give you something."
As he spoke, a sand spirit plunged his hand into his chest and pulled out a gray robe.
"This is the Hermit's Robe, the result of a deal we made with a ruler of an alien civilization while we were searching for that thing."
Wearing it has a simple effect: all divination and curses will be nullified.
Richard's heart skipped a beat. All divination and curses would be ineffective. Didn't that mean that as long as he wore this robe, the civilization devourer would have no way of tracking his whereabouts?
Don't be fooled by the fact that he can currently block the civilization devourer's vision with his anti-divination magic. If the civilization devourer recovers from its injuries, who knows how long Richard's anti-divination magic will last.
This hermit's robe was a treasure prepared for him by the many prophets of the Cursed Throne and even the entire world community.
“And what was the price?” Richard said softly. “I believe the Crown of the Cursed did not pay a price.”
“Indeed, but the price you have to pay is not with me,” the scales said. “You are the chosen one, and you are the only creature capable of killing that monster.”
Therefore, you bear the hope for the survival of all civilizations in the entire world.
You need to gather them, unite them, and form an alliance to fight that monster.
However… you are far wiser than the cursed wizard thought. You have already begun to build an alliance, instead of waiting for our messenger to find you.”
As they were talking, Sand Spirit, who was standing beside the scales, walked up to Richard with the hermit's robe in his hands and presented it to him.
Richard reached out to touch it, and the moment he touched the robe, he suddenly shuddered.
“What’s on this robe?” Richard asked the scales.
"A misfortune."
“Misfortune?” Richard was somewhat puzzled.
Tianping slowly said, "To become the owner of this robe, one must pass its test."
Its trial was a misfortune.
But don't worry, if you are truly the chosen one, this misfortune will definitely not take your life.
