Chapter 856 Modern People Are Not Necessarily Inferior to Their Predecessors
The vast world of the abyss.
Beside the massive array of Abyssal Titans, Richard's clone spoke to the nearby Taral Peak: "Actually, I still don't quite understand your decision. You should be able to tell that place is a meat grinder."
Richard was naturally aware that the Allied Forces had requested assistance from the Abyss Titan Legion.
However, he did not interfere with Taral Peak's decision; the decision to go and provide support was Taral Peak's own judgment.
Instead of answering directly, Taral Peak asked, "Your Majesty, what do you think of the Abyss Titans of the new era?"
Richard paused for a moment, then replied after a moment's thought, "Perfect. The evolutionary tree that the Abyss has grown over millions of years has made the Abyss Titan almost flawless."
Evolutionary traits that can withstand almost any environment and any situation can be found in one's bloodline.
Taral Peak wholeheartedly agreed with this view. He nodded and said, "Your Majesty, I think so too, and so do these Abyss Titans."
That's why I'm sending them into that meat grinder for their trial.
Richard was taken aback; he couldn't quite figure out the connection between the two.
Taral Peak continued, "Your Majesty, we believe the Abyss Titans are perfect because we have truly studied our own bloodline in depth. We understand where this bloodline is powerful and what we can achieve by developing it."
But these little guys are different.
They were born with the bloodline of the Abyss Titans, but due to limitations, they did not have a deep understanding of their own bloodline.
Their minds are like those of children, easily blinded by the apparent power of their bloodline, and thus succumb to instinct.
Therefore, they need trials, trials of blood and fire.
Unlike the Abyss Titans, the Shepherd Titans of the past would take at least ten years to produce an infant, even if they established a ley line womb.
Although their growth can be accelerated by resources, it still takes five or six years for them to become a reserve soldier.
Abyssal Titans, on the other hand, can be born in just a few months and grow rapidly. From birth to maturity, they can acquire all the basics to become warriors within a year.
Going further down the line, basic education requires a long period to show results. But if a trial is needed, a war will suffice.
Richard fell silent upon hearing this. Although he was used to treating the Legion as a number, Taral Peak's words still shocked him.
The Titans are a race with rich emotions. The small population of the Titans in the early days gave them a restrained yet enduring affection for their fellow Titans.
Living things do not like to move forward alone.
But at this moment, Taral Peak's words, spoken with an air of self-righteousness, revealed an almost cruel rationality.
This goes against the Titans' emotions, and what could possibly cause all of this is just a series of choices made.
“War is cruel, Tarar,” Richard said slowly.
Taral Peak replied with a smile, "Your Majesty, war has always been like this."
……
Although Tarlar Peak decided to subject the new generation of Titans to a trial of blood and fire, it did not mean that he wanted these Titans to die.
Before heading to the battlefield, the wizards had already equipped this batch of Titans with meticulously crafted, massive power armor.
Building upon this, the individual disintegration cannon, the disintegration field spear, the enhanced instant-death sword, the corruption cannon bio-plugin, and numerous auxiliary plug-ins for combat support make each Abyss Titan fully armed.
This batch of Titan Legion numbered only 10,000, but the majority of them were bloodthirsty abyssal demons.
The combat experience of these demons, combined with the training at Tarar Peak, is enough to give this legion the combat power of a regular Titan legion.
Whether they survive or not is up to them.
The cargo airships, temporarily converted into airships, housed eight-meter-tall, sculpted Abyssal Titans sitting silently in their cargo holds.
Although they were about to participate in a highly intense war, their bodies secreted massive amounts of hormones, making them active yet exceptionally rational.
"Twenty-three, how are you feeling?" an Abyss Titan suddenly asked his companion.
"How am I? I can only say that I'm better than ever before."
"Good, just don't die, Twenty-Three. When the war ends, we'll have a holiday, and I really want to see that world of embers you mentioned."
A black sun that brings snow—what a strange thing this world is!
"Shut up, twenty-four. That's a very unlucky thing to say. I heard from a curse wizard that most of the soldiers who made wishes before the war started, wishing for something after the war ended, died on the battlefield."
"Hmm? You should have said so sooner."
hum!hum!
With a buzzing sound, the cargo airship passed through the portal and arrived at one of the 275 abandoned worlds.
Their war has officially begun.
"Titan Chapter, Titan Chapter, please respond."
"Titan Chapter received."
“Very good, Titan Chapter. I am the Supreme Commander of World 194. You will be under my direct command from now on.”
Now tell me your headcount, and the actual headcount.
"We have a total of one thousand people, and one thousand people are present."
"A thousand people? Tsk tsk tsk... Never mind, a thousand people are usable. Quality is more important than quantity. Now, head to War Fortresses 3, 4, and 6 and wipe out the Titan squads there."
They've seized partial control of the Flesh and Blood Fortress using some kind of weapon; be extremely careful of ambushes during the attack. "Yes, sir."
With a brief reply from the chapter leader, the thousand-strong Titan chapter received their first mission.
The warband's power armor received the map, and then they followed a device called the "Abyssal Throat" and a tube of flesh to reach Fortresses 3, 4, and 6.
As soon as they appeared, a huge roar rang in their ears.
Boom!
A homemade four-element annihilation bomb exploded beneath their feet, instantly vaporizing several Titans at the core of the blast.
"alert!"
Instinct from their training enabled these Titans to form a defensive battle formation almost instantly.
The deaths of their companions did not frighten them. Abyssal demons are natural biological weapons, and abyssal titans are an evolved version of abyssal demons.
Within their thought processes, calming factors, like a storm, chill their minds.
They activated all detection methods methodically, and everything went perfectly, like a practice session.
"Hidden target spotted at the three o'clock position to the left front."
"Kill him."
Within the walls of the flesh and blood fortress, a Star Shepherd Titan gazed at the orderly legion before him, growing increasingly perplexed with each passing moment.
Why is this unidentified legion acting in almost the same way as them?
Before he could think any further, three Disintegration Cannons pierced through the fortress flesh in front of him. And after the Disintegration Cannons, a Disintegration Field Spear pierced through the chest of the Star Shepherd Titan like a meteor.
The whole process looked smooth and effortless, with almost no stumbles, even better than during training.
Shepherd Titan suffered a heavy blow and instinctively retaliated. A 50,000-level lightning chain emerged from his hand and spread along the disintegrating force field spear like a venomous snake.
Unfortunately, all of his reactions were exactly as the warband leader had anticipated.
Releasing his grip and turning sideways, the warband commander suddenly spurted a stream of black viscous liquid from his hand. The liquid touched the Titan, instantly beginning its abyssal corruption.
With the disintegration force field superimposed on the abyssal erosion, the lurking Titan disintegrated completely in less than a second.
The battle leader retracted the Disintegration Field Spear and said calmly, "Continue forward."
The Abyss Titans remained silent, even on the communication network.
The danger of the battlefield had already stimulated their blood, forcibly calming their minds and eliminating the slightest trace of any other emotions.
This is a double-edged sword.
Calmness can help them adapt to the battlefield, but it is also a sign that they cannot control their own blood.
If you can't control your blood, you can't control your instincts.
Unable to control one's instincts, one becomes a beast. Even if a beast survives, it will be stripped of its Titan status by Mount Taral and thrown into the Trial Grounds to become a trial tool.
The Abyss Titans advanced silently, while within the fortress, the Star Shepherd Titans sensed the approaching danger.
"Fu Kang is dead, and reinforcements for these monsters have arrived."
The Titan Warband Commander's warning rang in the ears of every Shepherd Titan, and the next moment, all Shepherd Titans raised their alert level to the highest.
However, all their vigilance was in vain.
boom!
Three Abyss Titans suddenly burst out from the wall of flesh and blood, unleashing a series of standard killing moves in an instant: Disintegration Cannon, Collapse Field Spear, and Corruption Cannon. The Shepherd Titan on the other side barely had time to react.
"Bastard!"
Shepherd Titan let out a mournful cry, and swung his flaming longsword in an instant. In that instant, the temperature of the entire passage soared to a thousand degrees, and steam began to rise from the walls of the flesh fortress.
But before he could swing his longsword, the three Abyss Titans formed a perfect triangular formation.
At the very front of the triangle, a runic shield was projected from the arm of the Abyss Titan.
sizzle...
The longsword slid to the left along the deflected barrier, and the two Titans behind the army formation also took the opportunity to thrust out their disintegrating force field spears.
The disintegration field instantly destroyed the armor of the Star Shepherd Titan, and his body was disintegrated into a bloody mist.
The Abyss Titan, projecting its shield, said calmly, "Senior, didn't the instructors teach you that among those of the same level, quantity determines combat power?"
Retracting his spear, the foremost Titan unleashed a jet-black, instant-death sword from his hand, ending the life of Shepherd Titan with a single strike.
Then, they suddenly looked to the other side of the passage.
On the other side of the passage, three Shepherd Titans had already formed a triangular army formation.
The Titan at the forefront roared in a deep voice: "Traitors, your souls should be hammered on the anvil for ten thousand years!"
In response, the Abyss Titan launched a silent charge.
