Chapter 29 Eating Meat 01
Bai Jing kept staring at the map in her mind and felt relieved when she found that there were no more wild boars around.

Once her breathing had calmed down a bit, she said, "Second Uncle, Third Uncle, it'll probably be evening before we can bring these home. Why don't we take the wild boars to the foot of the mountain first?"

She couldn't stay here any longer. Although there was no bleeding, she dared not gamble.

After all, their loved ones are still here.

"Okay, wait a minute, I'll go chop a stick, and your third uncle and I will carry it together."

The two large wild boars weighed at least 200 pounds each, and one person definitely couldn't handle them.

The smaller one weighs at least several dozen kilograms, so my wife and the others can easily lift it.

Bai Jing didn't stop her and nodded, after all, she couldn't carry two big wild boars back by herself.

Feeling somewhat exhausted, she sat there motionless, clearly uncomfortable from overexertion.

Seeing that there was no danger, Luo Chunhua immediately climbed down from the tree. "Xiaojing, Xiaojing, are you alright?" She ran to her daughter's side as soon as she landed.

Bai Jing raised her head. "Mother, I'm fine, just a little weak."

Luo Chunhua couldn't believe it; she had to check it herself before she would believe it.

After checking my daughter thoroughly, I found that she was only injured on her hand and nowhere else. I finally felt relieved.

"You scared your mother to death! Don't do that again, or I'll be terrified."

Bai Jing chuckled foolishly, "Mom, I'm very strong, I'm not afraid of such a big wild boar." She thought she had reassured her mother.

"What nonsense are you talking about? No matter how strong you are, you can't match the impact of a wild boar. Do you think your mother is stupid? You're trying to fool me." Luo Chunhua slapped her twice in annoyance.

Naturally, not much force was used.

Having obtained the wild boar, they dared not descend the mountain too soon, fearing they might be spotted.

After all, it's not easy to eat meat these days, especially pork, which is something you might not be able to eat more than a few times a year.

So, we can only wait until it gets dark.

Bai Jing carried one wild boar on her back, while her second and third uncles carried another, and her aunt and mother took turns carrying the smaller one.

They stopped when they reached the spot where they had previously dug the hole in the tree.

"I just finished work, so I definitely can't go back now. What should I do?"

Uncle Bai's voice was still trembling with excitement as he looked at the people walking in the fields below, praying that it would get dark soon.

Uncle Bai looked down the mountain and then at the big tree beside him.

"How about this, let's put the wild boar in the tree first, and we'll come back tonight." This place is close to home, so there won't be any large animals around at night.

Moreover, there are few people living here, so even if you bring light up the mountain, no one will notice.

Bai Jing knew exactly what her second uncle was thinking, so she started putting the things from her own basket into the four people's baskets.

"I'll put the smaller one in my basket and take it back with some leaves on top. I'll go back through the back door, and no one will notice." The two larger ones can be left, but the smaller one is unnecessary.

Uncle Bai the Second and Uncle Bai the Third agreed. "Xiao Jing is right. Take the smaller one back, and tie the larger one up to a tree."

And so, the group worked together to hoist the two large wild boars up a tree and hide them.

Then, reluctantly, they headed down the mountain to Bai Jing's house.

After work, the children also came home from school. Bai Jing was worried that her second uncle's younger brother and sister-in-law would not be able to find their parents when they got home, so she asked her two aunts to go back and call the children to come over together.

Tonight we're going to deal with two wild boars, and on such a good day, I naturally want everyone to see it.

"Second Aunt, Third Aunt, go back and bring your sister-in-law over. She can have dinner at our house tonight. Uncles, you can stay and help me with the piglets. We'll have a pig-slaughtering feast tonight."

These days everyone's short of food, so she didn't plan to sell the piglet. She planned to split it equally among the three families, so each family could get a little bit of meat.

The two aunts didn't immediately agree, but instead looked at their husbands. Seeing them nod, they smiled and replied to Bai Jing, "Okay, your aunts will be back to help you in a bit."

"Okay, Auntie walks fast, she'll be back in a bit."

In just one day, the aunties' faces were filled with smiles.

This made Bai Jing very satisfied, and she felt that her rebirth was worthwhile.

After the two left, the remaining family members started boiling water and cooking, and then slaughtered the piglet.

Slaughtering a pig is a delicate task, but because this wild boar couldn't be seen by people, I had to try it myself.

Bai Jing had been married into the Wu family for quite some time, so she knew the steps involved in slaughtering a pig. Her two uncles were not naive either; having lived in the family for over thirty years, they naturally knew how to slaughter a pig as well.

So the three of them worked together and the little wild boar was quickly dealt with.

However, while they were removing the hair from the wild boar, the two aunts came over with their younger siblings.

"Boar."

"Meat."

"Can I eat it?"

"Sis, let me help you."

They heard some news about their older cousin at school today.

They didn't really believe it at first. They knew their eldest cousin's personality very well over the years. In their minds, the only reason someone could drive their eldest cousin to such a state was that their grandfather and stepmother had taken things from their eldest cousin's family again.

However, they were very happy when their eldest cousin resisted.

Bai Ling, Bai Jing, and Bai Yong were also very happy to see them arrive.

The three men who were about to slaughter the pig were immediately surrounded by seven children.

This heartwarming scene softened Bai Jing's heart.

The Bai family lived on a high place, so unless they came up to check, they wouldn't notice anything happening in the yard. And since their second and third uncles' families lived on the opposite mountain, they weren't afraid of being spied on.

However, Bai Jing didn't plan to make too much noise while cooking. After all, the mountain wind blows downhill, and if the smell got out, who knows what kind of trouble the team would cause.

The seven children were overjoyed to learn that they would be eating meat that night, and they all kept themselves busy.

Even Bai Ling's little face showed a smile.

What Bai Jing found most amusing was that when the meat was brought into the kitchen, all seven children ran to the kitchen and none of them came to help them.

This left the busy group of people both amused and exasperated.

"Look at these guys, I thought they were so hardworking, but it turns out they're just busy making meat." Aunt Bai laughed as she watched her youngest son happily follow his older siblings into the kitchen.

The second aunt glanced at the children carrying meat into the kitchen and said, "Aren't you craving meat? Let alone the children, if there wasn't work to do here, I would have gone in to help my sister-in-law cook."

They are all farmers, and every part of a pig is valuable. Apart from the parts that are inedible, they are reluctant to throw anything away.

Here Bai Jing is, processing pig intestines.

Heart, liver, lungs, and stomach are all good ingredients; stir-fried with chili peppers, they taste absolutely amazing, perfect for pairing with drinks.

Unfortunately, no one in the village sells alcohol.

Otherwise, Bai Jing would have to spend some money.

“That’s right, I can already smell the aroma of meat even before it’s cooked.” Uncle Bai also swallowed hard.

Uncle Bai looked up at his third brother and said rather bluntly, "There's no meaty smell now, but there's a pig manure smell. Your taste is a bit unusual."
