Chapter 337 "Keeping Oneself Pure as Jade"
Chapter 337 "Keeping Oneself Pure as Jade"
The girl was sitting in the chair, lost in thought, when suddenly her hand vibrated and the screen lit up. Meng Youyou looked down at it and said, "I don't like her."
Hey~ the mute guy opened his mouth and spoke?!
Suddenly, as if a spring breeze had arrived overnight, withered trees came back to life, hearts blossomed with joy, and several fawns, adorned with colorful stripes, suddenly darted into the lush green forest, leaping and bounding about.
Without hesitation, Meng Youyou replied, "Then who do you like?"
The message disappeared without a trace. Meng Youyou waited anxiously for several minutes, receiving no reply as she expected. Well, she'd heard of selective amnesia, but intermittent aphonia was a first for her.
Meng Youyou pouted: "There are plenty of people who like me, I don't care about you alone."
Half a minute passed, and there was no movement.
Meng Youyou applied pressure in a half-threatening manner: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! You'd better think it through, while I still care about your answer!"
Another minute passed, and still nothing happened.
Meng Youyou flexibly shifted to a more conciliatory approach: "If you line up early, your chances of being admitted are much higher!"
Meng Youyou stared at her phone, which seemed to have entered hibernation, grinding her teeth in frustration as she tried to regain control of the crumbling phone: "Don't think I can't live without you!"
Huo Qingshan stared intently at the new messages popping up on the screen, especially the last one: "I like men who take the initiative!" He felt the iron lump in his hand getting hotter and hotter, and the veins on his temples throbbed incessantly.
After hesitating for a long time, the man finally replied, "It's working hours, so focus on your work."
Meng Youyou almost vomited blood when she saw it.
On second thought, oh well, for this blockhead to actually say that today is already a huge milestone.
With her mood brightening slightly and her eyesight improving, Meng Youyou hummed a little tune as she looked around. To her surprise, she discovered that the curtain was placed in the glass cabinet on her right, on a shelf that was level with her forehead. It was right in front of her; she could see it with just a glance. There were even categorization labels on the cabinet door, yet she had repeatedly missed it.
Hey! Wise people don't fall in love; being "love-struck" can be very harmful!
...
It was past 9:30 p.m. when Huo Qingshan finished his afternoon's back work and walked out of his office.
The man turned to the side, raised his hand, and pulled the doorknob. The lock clicked shut, and the motion-activated light above him turned on. The light bulb hummed softly, and the cool white light from the upper bunk illuminated a section of the corridor, while the rest of the area remained in a light shadow.
As he turned, his gaze swept across the circular corridor of the floor, and when it landed on a certain spot, the man suddenly stopped—a large study room diagonally opposite was still lit up, its front door not fully closed, leaving a fist-width gap that let out a beam of warm white light, which fell on the corridor floor tiles, like a narrow, long, diamond-shaped strip of light, standing out conspicuously against the surrounding dimness.
As if something had tapped him on the back of the head, the man inexplicably withdrew his right leg, which was about to stride straight toward the elevator hall, and instead changed direction, as if pulled along, taking a longer route along the circular corridor.
The soft, short sound of leather shoes scraping against the ground was particularly clear in the empty building. Huo Qingshan stopped at the classroom door. He didn't go in immediately, but instead turned slightly to the side and peeked through the crack in the door.
The room was brightly lit, with rows of desks and chairs neatly arranged, and the porcelain-white floor was spotless and thoroughly cleaned. A large curtain hung at the front of the classroom, with only the upper left corner fixed in place, the majority of the fabric hanging loosely, its folds layered.
The girl stood alone on the triangular ladder, its two legs spread wide apart, but when she tiptoed to reach the upper sliding rail latch, the ladder still wobbled slightly. Meng Youyou held onto the edge of the curtain with one hand and stretched upwards with the other, her neck forming a slender arc, her ponytail sweeping back and forth on the back of her fair neck as she leaned forward.
Upon seeing this, Huo Qingshan's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
Without hesitation, the man pushed the door open, the hinges making a very soft creak. Before the person inside could even turn around to look away, he had already strode forward, his hands firmly gripping the two sides of the ladder. The slight wobbling was immediately suppressed as his palms touched the cool metal, like someone had stepped on a restless tail.
Meng Youyou was struggling with the buckle when she suddenly felt her feet become incredibly stable, as if roots had sprung out of thin air.
She then looked down, her gaze passing over the gap in the steps and meeting the man's dark eyes. His gaze was deep, his eyes half-closed, first landing on the point where her heel touched the step, making sure she was on solid ground, before finally looking up to meet her eyes.
Meng Youyou's lips moved, but before she could make a sound, she heard him say in a low voice, "Come down, I'll do it."
In less than a minute, another person took over the ladder. The man was tall and had long legs. He worked efficiently and casually asked between tasks, "Why are you alone? Where are your colleagues?"
Upon hearing this, the girl holding the ladder below reacted for a few seconds, realizing that the colleague he was referring to was Jiang Fu, and then replied, "She also has to work overtime tonight and can't get away."
"What?" Meng Youyou raised an eyebrow, tilting her small face up to ask, "You don't think this is a ploy I set up to cause you pain, do you?"
"You deliberately sent her away, pretending to be weak, pitiful, and helpless, staying behind to work overtime late at night, all to set a trap for you?" The girl shook her head, and seeing him looking down at her, Meng Youyou winked at him and asked in a strange tone, "Wow! Battalion Commander Huo, so in your eyes I'm so scheming?"
The man paused for a moment, then said softly, "That's not what I meant."
Moreover, as long as one doesn't want to take the bait and has a firm enough stance, there will always be a way to avoid it. When it comes to matters concerning her, Huo Qingshan is just a bit slow to react, but he's not confused.
After the man took over, it didn't take long for the projection screen to be set up neatly and symmetrically on the wall. Meng Youyou looked it over from all angles and found it pleasing to the eye. She patted the almost non-existent dust off her hands with satisfaction.
“This ladder is no longer needed, is it? I’ll take it back to the tool shed.” The man’s hand rested on the metal frame, as if he had just thought of something. He weighed the ladder in his hand and asked curiously, “Did you carry this ladder here by yourself?” Meng Youyou was about to reply, “Yes,” but she swallowed the words back and casually changed her answer, “No, other kind men like you helped me carry it.” She looked at him with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Huo Qingshan remained silent and carried the ladder back to the tool shed. He then returned to the classroom and asked, "Is there anything else we need to do here?"
“That’s all.” Meng Youyou stood by the desk closest to the door, her handbag on the table, zipper wide open. When the man asked her question, her eyes were still glued to her phone screen. She pointed to the left side of the podium and drew a circle with her finger, ordering him without looking up: “Pick up the cardboard boxes on the floor over there, then we can leave.”
The man walked over, bent down and picked up the empty cardboard box from the ground. The girl also put down her phone, probably after replying to a message. She noticed that the windows at the front and back of the classroom were not closed, so she ran over to close them.
As the iron window frame slid along the track with a clattering sound, followed by a sharp clang, an even more piercing scream erupted from the girl: "Ah!"
Huo Qingshan looked in the direction of the sound and saw the girl suddenly pull her hand back, one hand covering the other, her body curled up in a ball, her lower back pressed against the wall, her expression pained. The man's eyes widened and his heart clenched. He immediately dropped the cardboard box in his hand and ran over quickly.
"Did you get your hand caught? Let me see..." Before the man could finish speaking, all the lights in the room suddenly went out, and he was suddenly blinded and plunged into thick darkness. His shirt collar was grabbed by someone with force, partly because he was caught off guard. Huo Qingshan was pulled and pushed against the wall, his shoulder blades slamming against the wall with a thud.
His nose caught the familiar scent before his other senses—the sweet aroma of peaches. As it drew closer and grew stronger, the girl, who was standing inches away from him, spoke in a seductive voice that tickled his eardrums: "Commander Huo, this is the real deal—a self-inflicted injury ruse."
Is it clumsy? That doesn't matter. Is it effective? That's what matters.
As for the previous one, she deliberately left the classroom door slightly ajar, but that can only be described as "like Jiang Taigong fishing, waiting for those who are willing to take the bait."
"What do you want to do?" Huo Qingshan heard his own voice tremble slightly and sound a little hoarse, but it was certainly not out of fear.
"You made me angry today. I saw her touch your hand." The girl slowly released her grip on the man's collar, her index fingernail leisurely playing with the button on his chest. She flicked it, lifted it, pressed it, and then drew circles around the button. Her voice was aggrieved and soft: "I'm really unhappy. I need to be comforted."
In the pitch-black room, the man's throat bobbed silently, his vocal cords dry: "How do I coax him?"
The moment she finished speaking, Meng Youyou's other hand slipped under the fabric of his shirt, reaching his waist and resting on his abdomen. Instantly, Huo Qingshan's body tensed, and his breathing became heavy.
"I want to touch here." Meng Youyou leaned closer and breathed gently into his ear.
Huo Qingshan immediately reached out to grab her mischievous little hand. His grip on her wrist caused her to cry out in pain, "Ouch~"
The man immediately released his grip, no longer daring to exert force recklessly. He could only move his body to the side, trying his best to avoid the attack of her slender, smooth fingers, which were cool to the touch, like jade, yet very soft, as if boneless.
Despite his shock, he was still able to appreciate the tactile sensations, a realization that sent a chill down Huo Qingshan's spine.
"Don't move!" she threatened him, "I'll get angry if you move again!" She was a total female hooligan. However, the man was actually stunned when he heard this and was forced to "behave".
The next second, the girl suddenly became tender and asked him, "Don't you like it?"
Her fingers moved, tracing leisurely over the muscles of his abdomen, igniting a blaze of fire wherever they touched, leaving nothing but barren land. She asked him, feigning ignorance, "Don't you like it when I do this?"
When people do things against their will, they feel depressed and unhappy. But what about the reverse? Huo Qingshan experienced both extremes on the same day. Each one was more unpleasant than the last.
Feeling the rhythmic rise and fall of the man's chest, Meng Youyou traced the contours of his chest with her fingertips, leaving no spot untouched. "Don't move, close your eyes," she commanded gently, like a seductive little fox. The girl's lips drew closer to his ear, and she whispered something that sent chills down his spine: "Huo Qingshan, you... you're... having a reaction."
Like a thunderclap out of nowhere! In the darkness, the man raised his hand and precisely covered her mouth, as if afraid she would say something even more explicit. What Huo Qingshan found most unbelievable was that for a moment, he actually considered using something else to cover her mouth—not his hand.
Her lips were completely enveloped by his warm, large hand. Meng Youyou suddenly chuckled and licked the dry lines on his palm with the tip of her tongue. The man trembled all over, and an electric shock-like sensation spread rapidly. The hand covering her lips was caught in a dilemma, unable to withdraw or not withdraw.
His palms were burning hot, but his entire body was burning hot in more ways than just his palms. This area was no better than that area; everywhere was a disaster zone, and there was no sign of the heat going down. Huo Qingshan couldn't decide which area to prioritize, because focusing on one thing would mean neglecting another.
She smiled maliciously, the steam rising from her teeth gently tickling his palm: "Anyway, I've touched you, I've hugged you, now all that's left is a kiss." The girl immediately contradicted herself the next second, deliberately drawing out her words, implying: "Oh no, I almost forgot, we have even more outrageous things to do." The small hand that had slipped under his shirt hem became increasingly audacious, even showing a faint tendency to move downwards.
The man could no longer sit idly by and wait for his fate. He grabbed her wrist again, through the fabric of her clothes, with her inside and him outside, controlling the pressure just right, so that she wouldn't move again.
The two remained locked in a close standoff for a while, neither gaining the upper hand nor losing the upper hand. Knowing she was no match for him in terms of strength, Meng Youyou was the first to back down: "Okay, okay, I won't make a fuss anymore. Let go of my hand and I'll take it out."
"Really?" The man was skeptical.
"Yes, yes, I'm not lying to you." The girl nodded emphatically, her attitude sincere.
Huo Qingshan hesitated before releasing his grip on her wrists, but the girl seemed to change her expression every second. Her freed hand suddenly pinched his waist muscle hard, probably with a really hard pinch, and the man groaned in pain.
Meng Youyou spoke in the gentlest tone, but her words were harsh: "Huo Qingshan, listen to me, you'd better remain chaste until you fall for me, or you'll be sorry!"
"No, you must guard both your body and your heart; you can't neglect either!" the girl warned coldly in his ear. "Got it? You'd better never have the chance to know the consequences of not learning your lesson."
Huo Qingshan, please don't like anyone else, okay?
Meng Youyou wanted to say something, but she didn't.
