Chapter 134 Famous Scene

Meng Youyou got off the car and looked around. A sizable dam stretched between two mountain valleys, its body inlaid with large, regular stones.

Beyond the dam lies a clear reservoir. Though not large, the water reflects the thin winter sunlight with shimmering waves, like a giant mirror.

Near the shore, you can see sand and pebbles in the water and swaying aquatic plants, with small fish and shrimp occasionally darting among them, creating fleeting ripples.

Meng Youyou's eyes lit up, and she said with a smile, "Teacher Wen is really knowledgeable. You even managed to find such a secluded and tranquil fishing spot."

Wen Cenqing walked around the car and approached, speaking modestly: "Not at all, it was recommended by a friend. Otherwise, with my limited ability to get things done, how would I have known about this place?"

There are many orchards and private estates near this reservoir. If you're interested, I can take you fruit picking after we're done fishing. I recall there's a grove of goat's milk fruit here; it tastes quite good.

"Oh, is that so?" Meng Youyou seemed uninterested, shrugging and making a funny face. "Wouldn't it be a real disappointment if I said I wasn't interested?"

Wen Cenqing smiled: "No, as long as you're happy."

The driver stood behind and took out the tools and materials from the trunk one by one, placing them on the ground.

Meng Youyou suggested, "There seems to be a lot of stuff. Shall we go help him?"

Wen Cenqing paused for a moment, then nodded gently, "Okay."

The driver was a man of similar age to Wen Cenqing, with a burly build and a taciturn demeanor.

Meng Youyou followed two steps behind Wen Cenqing. What she meant by what she said earlier was that she could share some of the burden.

Wen Cenqing bent down to pick up the bucket of water from the ground. The driver saw this and quickly put down what he was holding to stop her. He looked frightened and whispered, "Boss, let me do it."

Wen Cenqing looked up, and the driver seemed to suddenly realize something, immediately changing his address to "Sir" and withdrawing his hand.

Meng Youyou stood behind Wen Cenqing. When he looked up, she could only see a limited side profile of the man. She could vaguely sense that Wen Cenqing had given the driver a look.

She could only catch a fleeting glimpse of his raised profile, but for no apparent reason, a chill ran down her spine in that instant. She seemed to see a sinister ruthlessness in that man's eyes.

She stopped abruptly, hesitant to move forward for a moment, her thumbnail digging into the flesh of her palm. After a short while, she quietly exhaled and then took another step forward.

Meng Youyou's smile remained unchanged as she chuckled and said, "I'll take the fishing rod; I'll pick something easy to do."

Wen Cenqing straightened up and smiled silently at her. Meng Youyou's gaze met his, and her hands gripping the fishing rod tightened almost imperceptibly.

She tried her best to suppress the instinctive urge to avoid eye contact, or rather... fear, and her expression remained relaxed and natural.

Wen Cenqing said, "Let's go over there. It's a good spot for fishing."

He pointed in a direction with his free hand.

Meng Youyou turned her head and looked in the direction the finger was pointing, then nodded.

As they walked, Wen Cenqing and the driver were ahead of Meng Youyou. The country road was winding, and at one turn, Meng Youyou couldn't help but look back.

She glanced at the girl aimlessly and saw nothing, but the girl's smile was serene the moment she turned around.

……

The two sat side by side on a small stool, each holding a fishing rod. Meng Youyou's rod was noticeably lighter and thinner than Wen Cenqing's, showing that he had put thought into preparing the tools.

The fishing rod in her hand suddenly began to vibrate. It was so sudden that Meng Youyou opened her mouth wide and was at a loss for what to do.

Upon seeing this, Wen Cenqing immediately put down his fishing rod and took two steps to Meng Youyou, who was still in a daze.

Without a word, Wen Cenqing reached out and covered Meng Youyou's hand. The warmth of the man's broad palm quickly spread through her skin, and Meng Youyou immediately wanted to pull her hand back, but she held back.

"Take it slow when you reel in the line," Wen Cenqing whispered in her ear.

After saying that, he took Meng Youyou's hand and slowly turned the reel to start winding the line.

As the fishing line was slowly reeled in, the outline of a fish finally emerged from the water, and with a splash, a large fish was pulled out of the water.

Wen Cenqing removed the fish from the hook and put it into the bucket, completing the process with practiced ease.

Meng Youyou leaned her head over the rim of the bucket, listlessly examining the largest gray fish inside.

She poked the gray fish floating on the surface with her right index finger, feigning excitement and curiosity. She needed to keep herself occupied; in reality, someone in their early twenties wouldn't be so genuinely interested in a fish she had caught.

Meng Youyou could feel a strong gaze fixed on her from above. She didn't know what she would face when she looked up, what would happen, or how she should deal with it.
For a moment, my mind was in turmoil, and I had no thoughts. I could only lower my head and focus on playing with the fish.

An untimely wave of sadness washed over Meng Youyou. She couldn't explain why, but she suddenly felt that Xi Shi was truly remarkable and a ruthless person.

Not everyone can do this kind of work.

After a long while, Meng Youyou realized that the other person had no intention of returning to the serious matter of fishing and was just staring at her. With no time to delay, she slowly raised her head, her eyebrows curving slightly.

He looked at her with a warm smile, which did not surprise Meng Youyou.

Just as Meng Youyou was about to speak to break the silence and take control of the situation, she saw a long, slender hand reaching out to her without a word.

The pale hand drew closer and closer to her face. Meng Youyou wanted to dodge but dared not. Her neck stiffened, and her head remained motionless, waiting for the person in front of her to react next.

The man spoke softly: "Close your eyes for a moment."

Meng Youyou felt a chill run down her spine as she struggled with the decision of whether or not she should sacrifice herself for the organization.

She didn't close her eyes; they were fixed on the person opposite her.

Wen Cenqing smiled first, then turned her wrist at a different angle, placed her fingertip above Meng Youyou's eyelid, picked up a piece of weed, and held it in front of Meng Youyou's eyes for her to see.

……

Two men were crawling in the grass on the hill. Lu Feng glanced at the index finger of the man next to him, which was resting on the trigger of a sniper rifle. Although it was completely still, it gave him a sense of tension that it was about to be released.

Lu Feng found it difficult to describe the specific feeling, but he felt that in the past half minute, he had the opportunity to witness a famous scene of a headshot.

Besides, Lu Feng had a very bad feeling. He was sure that this kid would find a chance to get revenge and wouldn't let him go.

Well, he'll get what's coming to him soon enough.
