Chapter 125 Debt Settlement

When Chen Biao returned to the food factory with his men, Chu Yaozu was waiting at the factory gate.

Seeing the car approaching, he quickly went to greet it with a smile.

But the car didn't stop and drove straight in, leaving Chu Yaozu, who was filled with exhaust fumes, angry but unable to say anything.

This wasn't his first time here; he'd become quite familiar with the gatekeepers. The reason he stood at the door waiting was to show more sincerity.

After some negotiation and compromise, Chu Yaozu was allowed into the food factory and leisurely strolled to Chen Biao's office.

I knocked on the door twice, just twice, I didn't dare to knock more than that.

The word "进" (jin) was delivered in a clearly impatient tone.

Chu Yaozu patted his heart, took two deep breaths, and then pushed open the door with a slightly hunched back.

"Brother Biao," he said, his face beaming with a smile, but his tone betrayed a timid and hesitant one.

Chen Biao had his legs crossed and propped up on the desk, his upper body sunken into the sofa chair. He smoked a cigarette with a gloomy expression, and casually glanced at Chu Yaozu. "Have you raised enough money?"

"No," Chu Yaozu's voice was so weak it could hardly be weaker.

"Then what are you doing here? Looking for death?" His anger was palpable.

Less than a minute after entering, Chu Yaozu's forehead was covered in sweat, and his legs were trembling uncontrollably. He stammered, "I wanted to... come... to... find..."

Meeting the sinister gaze of the man on the sofa, Chu Yaozu nearly stammered, unable to speak. He pinched his thigh to force himself to finish, "I'd like to ask Brother Biao to make an exception. Could you give me a little more time?"

“Give you time? My business is almost failing, and I’m short of money right now. If I give you time, who will give me time?” Chen Biao flicked his cigarette ash and said coldly, “I’ll give you three days at most. If you can’t pay back your gambling debts,” he pulled his legs back from the table, leaned forward, and said, word by word, “Go back and tell your parents to prepare a good coffin for you.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Yaozu was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground.

At this crucial moment, his mind surprisingly worked quickly. Chu Yaozu recalled some random information he had just gleaned from the brothers at the door; it seemed that Brother Biao had been mistreated by the boss.

Although he had never met the boss they were talking about, he had vaguely heard that the boss was very lecherous.

Chu Yaozu felt a chill run down his spine. He scrambled to the desk, crying out, "Brother Biao, Brother Biao, please forgive me this time! I have something good to pay off my debt."

……

In the car.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Meng Youyou looked around at the interior and asked in a puzzled tone, "Xiao Li, this isn't one of the camp's vehicles, is it? I've never seen it before."

Xiao Li drove without looking to the side, answering, "Yes, it's not a military vehicle. This car is a private car borrowed by Battalion Commander Huo. He told me that he would use this car to pick you up and drop you off every day."

"Oh," Meng Youyou nodded, though she didn't quite understand the man's intention.

Xiao Li turned his head and quickly glanced at Meng Youyou, then hesitated before asking, "Translator Meng, I have a question for you. Are you dating our battalion commander?"

Meng Youyou's eyelids twitched involuntarily, but she remained calm and smiled, trying to evade the question: "Huh? Why do you ask that?"

"It's just... I can't really explain why, but I feel like our battalion commander is particularly concerned about your affairs."

"I see," Meng Youyou smiled calmly, shrugged, and said casually, "Maybe he has a crush on me~"
