Chapter 178 This is not my home

Qu Yanci carried her back to the bed and reached out to wipe away the tears on her face. "Don't cry."

Shen Guining sniffed, suppressing the soreness in her throat, her voice hoarse, "Why did you come to Hong Kong Island?"

Qu Yanci frowned slightly, "I'm worried about you."

I heard about her father's situation on the phone this morning and became a little worried, so I booked a plane ticket to come over.

Shen Guining calmed down and said, "I'm fine."

She bent down, folded the letter, and carefully put it back into the envelope. "Wait for me a moment. I'm going to pack my mother's things and take them with me. She doesn't like the Shen family at all."

He was trapped in this cage before he died, living a life of oppression and suffocation.

Qu Yanci nodded. "Okay, take your time."

Shen Guining first locked the combination lock, then took out the photo albums and frames from the drawer and organized them.

"A photo of you when you were a child?" Qu Yanci asked.

"Ah."

"Let me see."

Shen Guining handed him the thick photo album. "Take a look."

She took many photos when she was a child, but the images were blurry back then, and many of them have faded over the years.

Qu Yanci took it and turned to the first page.

This is her first photo since birth; her little face is rosy, and she is sleeping soundly in her swaddling clothes.

As you flip through the photos, you see obvious changes in each one as the child grows older.

Her eyes are beautiful, round and bright, with naturally long and curled eyelashes, a small and straight nose, and cherry lips. When she smiles, her eyes curve into crescent moons.

Qu Yanci smiled and said, "She is indeed cute."

Shen Guining looked over and said, "Why do you keep looking at pictures of me taking a shower?"

Qu Yanci raised an eyebrow, "Can't I look?"

Shen Guining pursed her lips and thought for a moment, then looked up at him and asked, "Do you have any photos of yourself taking a bath when you were little? I want to see yours too." That would be fair.

"No," Qu Yanci said calmly. "What's there to see when we were kids taking a bath? Now, you can look however you want when you take a bath."

"..."

Shen Guining's ears turned slightly red. She didn't speak to him and continued packing her things.

Qu Yanci looked through the photo album from beginning to end; almost all of the photos were taken before he was two years old.

He thought that it would be very interesting to have a daughter as cute as her in the future.

Shen Guining rummaged through all the drawers in the wardrobe and dressing table, packed up the useful items, put them in her suitcase, and zipped it up after making sure nothing was left out. "Okay, let's go."

"Mm." Qu Yanci stood up, pulled her suitcase over, and took her hand with his other hand.

As I went downstairs, I ran into Shen Honglin, who was returning home, in the living room.

When he heard from the servant that Qu Yanci had come to visit, he immediately dropped everything and rushed back.

“Mr. Qu,” Shen Honglin greeted him, “Gui Ning, why didn’t you tell me beforehand that you brought Mr. Qu back? I could have entertained him at home.”

His tone was affectionate, just like that of a considerate and caring elder.

If one doesn't know his character well, one will inevitably be deceived by his appearance.

Shen Guining will never forget how they forced her into a marriage. If she hadn't gotten involved with Qu Yanci, she would have been forced to marry Zhou Shilin long ago.

"I just came back to get my mother's things."

Shen Honglin tried to persuade him to stay, saying, "It's rare for you to come back, have dinner at home before you leave."

Shen Guining's voice was cold: "This is not my home."

Shen Honglin's face stiffened for a moment, but he said calmly, "What are you saying, child..."

Shen Guining didn't want to watch his hypocritical performance. "You have never treated my mother and me as family."

When my mother was in despair, no one in the family helped her.

Shen Honglin is essentially the same kind of person as his maternal grandfather; he will stop at nothing to gain profit.
