Chapter 11 Jie Bei's Coercion

Uncle Bei was indeed after his father's cards.

Xie Yuwei knew she couldn't escape this question; Xie Bei wouldn't give up until he got what he wanted.

He was the village chief's son, and his younger siblings were not yet adults, so they could not fight against Jie Bei.

"My father left some cards at home, which I only discovered when I awakened my talent as a Card Spirit Master. I wonder why Uncle Bei is asking this?"

Xie Yuwei asked calmly.

Jie Bei frowned, pondering how to get his hands on the cards from Jie Yuwei.

He hadn't expected that Jie Yuwei would awaken her talent as a Card Spirit Master. Now that she had, they wouldn't easily hand over the cards.

“Sister Wei, you know the situation in the village. The magical beasts in the back mountain are always coming down to attack the barrier, and the barrier’s energy is getting weaker and weaker.”

Upon hearing this, Xie Yuwei looked at Xie Bei with a stern face.

"Uncle Bei, just say what you want to say."

Jie Bei cleared his throat and said, "Since your family has cards, why don't you hand them over to the village for safekeeping and let the village's card spirit masters use them? This way, we'll have a better chance of winning when we fight against magical beasts."

After hearing what he said, Xie Yuwei felt that he was utterly shameless.

Is he trying to get something for nothing? Is he threatening her with the safety of the village to force her to give up the cards?

Doesn't he know how much a single card costs on the market?

Xie Yuwei calmly looked at Xie Bei and said:

"Uncle Bei, I'm only twelve years old. It's not my place to take responsibility for the safety of the village, is it?"

“Although I am still young, I remember that my father’s contributions to the village were enough for my siblings and me to live a peaceful life for a hundred years.”

Upon hearing this, Jie Bei's eyes instantly sharpened.

Xie Yuwei is right, but he is determined to get the card.

Seeing his expression, Xie Yuwei knew that things wouldn't end well today. She turned to Xie Yuchen and said:

"Chen'er, go and invite your uncle. Tell him that Uncle Bei is here with us and we have something to discuss with him."

Jie Bei's face instantly turned ugly.

"Sister Wei, you're already twelve years old. You can make your own decisions about this little thing. You don't need to ask your uncle, do you?"

Ignoring the intimidating aura emanating from Jie Bei, Xie Yuwei calmly stated:

"Uncle Bei, please don't treat me like a fool."

Jie Bei narrowed his eyes, suddenly realizing that the girl in front of him seemed different from before.

Xie Yuchen had been standing in the corner watching Xie Bei warily. Upon hearing his sister's words, he immediately ran outside.

Watching Xie Yuchen run off into the distance, Xie Bei sneered at Xie Yuwei and said:
“Sister Wei, what’s the point of you going to call your uncle? The more people who know you have cards, the more people will come and share your cards.”

Xie Yuwei remained unmoved.

"I only have this many cards. Giving them to you is the same as giving them to my uncle. It doesn't matter who I give them to, doesn't it?"

Jie Bei was speechless; he had never known that Jie Yan's daughter was so difficult to deal with.

However, no matter what, he must get the card from her today.

Not long after Xie Yuchen ran away, he returned with Xie Cheng, their uncle. Xie Cheng had deep, dark eyes that shone with wisdom.

Despite his rough, faded clothes, his demeanor was steady and powerful, and his dark face wore a kind smile.

As soon as he entered, he saw Jie Bei sitting in the living room of his younger brother's house. Not knowing what had happened, he cheerfully said, "Hey, Bei boy is here too!"

"Uncle!" Xie Yuwei and Xie Yufei called out at the same time. Xie Cheng's gaze fell on Xie Yufei, and seeing that her complexion had improved a lot, he asked softly, "Sister Wei, what brings you here?"

Xie Yuwei calmly stated Xie Bei's request, completely ignoring any hints Xie Bei gave her.

Upon hearing Xie Yuwei's words, Xie Cheng's warm smile vanished, and he angrily said to Xie Bei:
"Hey kid, I remember your family has a few cards, right? For the sake of the village's safety, why don't you take out the cards and let everyone use them?"

“Perfect! Your control card is perfect for my Huai’an. How about lending it to him? With your card, Huai’an can definitely kill a few more monsters.”

Jie Bei was rendered speechless by his words.

He didn't want to waste any more time with Jie Cheng and stated his purpose directly:

"Brother Cheng, it's true that I'm eyeing Sister Wei's cards, but don't you think that a little girl like her would attract unwanted attention if she had those cards?"

"Instead of letting others benefit from it, we should collect it and keep it in the village for our own use."

Jie Cheng was shocked by Jie Bei's shamelessness, and he said angrily:

"Young man from the north, although Yan'er is not at home, Sister Wei is a member of our clan. Do you think our clan is dead? Did you get my permission to take advantage of Sister Wei so blatantly?"

Knowing that this matter had alarmed Xie Cheng, Xie Bei realized it was impossible for him to monopolize Xie Yuwei's cards, so he compromised and said:

"Since Jieyan hasn't come back yet, can I borrow her?"

You don't have to pay back what you borrow!
What she thought in her heart, she said aloud, "I borrowed the cards from Sister Wei, and I will definitely return them in the future. You can be my witness!"

Extremely shameless!
Jie Cheng was so angry with Jie Bei that he almost jumped up and hit him.

He's just taking advantage of the fact that Sister Wei's parents aren't home.

Seeing that things had developed this way, Xie Yuwei was just what she wanted. She pretended to be troubled and said:

"Uncle, how about I lend one out?"

Jie Cheng was speechless.

He gave Jie Yuwei a disappointed look. Jie Bei had only put a little pressure on her, and she had already handed over the cards?

However, looking at Jie Bei's determined eyes, he knew that he could stop Jie Bei once today, but not a second time.

He won't give up until he achieves his goal.

He couldn't possibly keep an eye on Xie Yuwei and her two siblings all the time.

Catching thieves is easy, but preventing them from doing so is difficult.

I absolutely have to give Sister Wei this card today.

Jie Cheng sighed, "Only one, we can only borrow one."

“Young man, you need to understand, this is a loan, not a gift. You will still have to pay it back when Sister Wei needs it in the future.”

Jie Bei's face lit up with joy; he had achieved his goal.

Borrow one first, and we can figure out the rest later.

"Okay, one is fine, Brother Cheng, you be my witness."

Jie Cheng responded sullenly.

When Xie Cheng agreed, Xie Bei looked at Xie Yuwei expectantly.

Under his excited gaze, Xie Yuwei took out the cards of Black Mamba Snake, Crimson Chicken, and Fire Chicken.

She said to them, "These are three cards I found at home. Uncle Bei, which one would you like to borrow?"

When Jie Bei and Jie Cheng saw the card in Jie Yuwei's hand, they were both stunned for a moment.
