Chapter 465 Ensuring True Peace Descends!
Chapter 465 Ensuring True Peace Descends!
“I understand,” Hong nodded.
The landing craft passed through the atmosphere and landed ten kilometers from the target. The three disembarked and stealthily made their way towards the energy tower.
The surface of Kara, the main planet, is very similar to Earth, with blue skies, white clouds, and green vegetation. But now, the entire planet is in a state of war. Fighter jets patrol the skies everywhere, and the ground is filled with troops and fortifications.
"Be careful, there's a patrol ahead," Hong used his Law Perception to detect the enemy.
The three men immediately hid in a thicket of bushes. A ten-man Kara patrol passed by nearby, fully armed and scanning their surroundings warily.
After the patrol team had gone some distance, the three continued onward. After an hour of stealth, they finally arrived near the energy tower.
This energy tower stands three hundred meters tall, entirely silver-white, its surface covered with intricate energy circuits. Blue light shimmers on its surface, the light of flowing energy. A high wall surrounds the tower, within which are densely packed Kara soldiers.
"The guards are really tight," Thor frowned.
“That’s why we need to go in underground,” Rowan said, having found a hidden sewer entrance. “Follow me.”
The three entered the sewers and proceeded along the damp passages. Although it was filthy and chaotic, there were indeed no guards. Occasionally, they encountered one or two maintenance robots, which they quietly dealt with.
Finally, the three arrived at the underground level of the energy tower. This was the core area of the energy tower, where a huge energy reactor was running, emitting a low hum.
“This is it,” Rowan said, looking at the massive reactor. “If we destroy it, the entire energy node will collapse.”
"How do you want to sabotage it?" Hong asked.
“Use this,” Rowan said, pulling out a specially made bomb. “This is a high-energy bomb provided by the company; its power is enough to destroy the reactor.”
Just as Rowan was preparing to plant the bomb, suddenly, the alarm sounded.
"Alarm! Alarm! Intruder detected!"
The piercing alarm echoed throughout the underground level. Countless searchlights shone, illuminating the location of the three people.
"Damn it, we've been discovered!" Thor's expression changed.
"Quickly, plant the bomb!" Rowan urged. "You guys buy me some time!"
Hong and Thor immediately rushed to the entrance, blocking the surging Kara soldiers.
"The intruders are there, open fire!"
Dense beams of energy shot towards the two. Hong deployed a golden shield, blocking most of the attacks. Thor unleashed lightning, knocking down the soldiers charging at the front.
Rowan was completely focused on installing the bomb, his fingers flying across the control panel.
“Thirty more seconds,” Rowan said, sweat beading on his forehead.
"Hurry!" Hong shouted, "There are more and more enemies!"
Indeed, a steady stream of Kara soldiers poured into the underground levels. Although Hong and Thor fought valiantly, some soldiers still managed to break through the defenses and charge towards Rowan.
"Don't even think about it!" Thor roared, unleashing his strongest lightning bolt, "Purple Heaven Descends!"
Countless bolts of lightning descended from the sky, striking down all the soldiers. But Thor himself, exhausted, knelt on one knee.
"Ten seconds left," Rowan continued operating.
Just then, five powerful auras appeared—five stellar-level experts had arrived.
"Damn it," Hong said gravely, "it's those five powerful guards."
"Ha, intruders, you have quite the nerve," the leading Kara sneered. "To actually dare infiltrate the energy tower. However, your adventure ends here."
"It's done!" Rowan shouted, pressing the bomb's detonation button.
"What?!" The Kara expert's expression changed drastically. "Quick, stop him!"
But it was too late. The countdown on the bomb began to tick: ten, nine, eight.
"Withdraw!" Rowan shouted.
The three rushed towards the exit at full speed. Behind them came the angry roar of the powerful Kara and the terrified screams of the soldiers.
three, two, one
boom! ! !
A massive explosion erupted from underground, shaking the entire energy tower. The energy reactor was destroyed, and uncontrolled energy surged forth, triggering a chain reaction.
As soon as Luo Wen and his two companions rushed out of the sewers, they saw the energy tower behind them begin to collapse. The 300-meter-tall tower snapped in the middle and crashed to the ground with a deafening roar.
At the same time, a huge gap appeared in the energy shield covering the main planet Kara—Node Seven was destroyed.
"We did it!" Hong gasped for breath. "We did it."
Not only Node Seven, but the other teams also completed their missions. Nine of the twelve energy nodes were successfully destroyed. Although three remained, the planetary shield was riddled with holes and could no longer stop the Virtual Universe Corporation's fleet.
"All nodes destroyed," Morris received the message aboard the Conqueror, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "All troops, prepare for landing! Target—the capital of Kara!"
The massive fleet broke through the tattered shields and entered the atmosphere of the main planet Kara. Hundreds of landing craft flew out of the warships, carrying tens of thousands of soldiers, and landed towards the capital.
Kalashnis, the capital of Kalashnis, is a megacity with a population of fifty million. At the city's center stands a palace a kilometer high, the center of Kalashnis's rule.
At this moment, the entire city descended into chaos. Citizens stared in terror at the sky as the landing craft descended. Alarms blared throughout the city, and the Kara army began to assemble in the streets.
But the Kara army was no longer able to stop the Virtual Universe Corporation's offensive. The crushing defeat in the Red Moon Starfield and the setbacks in orbit had cost the Kara army a large number of elite troops. Those remaining in the capital were mostly reserves and new recruits.
Landing craft descended on various areas of the city, and Virtual Universe Corporation soldiers rushed out and quickly occupied key positions.
Morris, Eric, and Leah, three cosmic-level powerhouses, led the main force straight towards the central palace. Rowan and his two companions were also in the group.
“Carax is definitely in the palace,” Maurice said. “We must catch him before he escapes.”
“But the palace is certainly heavily guarded,” Eric said.
“Then let’s attack head-on,” Morris said coldly. “With our strength, nothing can stop us.”
When the troops arrived outside the palace, they indeed saw thousands of Karax's personal guards standing ready. These guards were Karax's personal protectors, each with strength exceeding the stellar level, well-equipped, and highly trained.
"You lackeys of Virtual Universe Company, don't even think about setting foot in the palace!" the Imperial Guard Commander roared.
"Then let's see whether your loyalty is stronger or our resolve is greater," Maurice said coldly. "All troops, attack!"
A fierce battle unfolded outside the palace.
Although the Virtual Universe Company's soldiers are fewer in number, their quality is higher. Moreover, with three cosmic-level powerhouses in command, their advantage is obvious.
Morris unleashed a palm strike, the terrifying force shattering the palace gates. Dozens of guards blocking the entrance were blasted away, coughing up blood.
Eric and Leah broke through from the flanks, tearing apart the Royal Guard's defenses. Rowan and his two companions followed behind Morris, clearing out the remaining resistance. Although they were not in good condition, they were more than capable of dealing with the Royal Guard.
The battle lasted for half an hour before the Imperial Guard finally collapsed completely. The surviving soldiers threw down their weapons and knelt in surrender.
“Keep going,” Maurice said, without stopping, heading straight into the depths of the palace.
The palace's interior was extremely luxurious, adorned with gold and jewels everywhere. But now, these lavish decorations are overshadowed by the shadow of war.
Finally, Maurice and the others arrived at the throne room, the deepest part of the palace.
On the enormous throne sat a Kara man clad in golden armor. He was Karax, the dictator of the Kara civilization and the mastermind behind this war of aggression.
“Virtual Universe Corporation,” Carax said, a cold smile playing on his lips as he looked at Morris and his men who stormed in. “You’ve finally arrived.”
“Carax, you’re cornered,” Morris said coldly. “Surrender.”
"Surrender?" Karax stood up. "I am the ruler of the Karax civilization. How could I possibly surrender to you?"
"So you intend to put up a stubborn resistance?" Eric sneered. "In your current state, do you think you can defeat three of us universe-level powerhouses?"
Indeed, although Carax was a fourth-tier cosmic-level being, he had been severely injured in his previous battle with Morris and was in very poor condition. His breathing was disordered, and his wounds were still bleeding.
“I certainly can’t beat you,” Carax admitted, “but you won’t be leaving here alive either.”
He suddenly pressed a button on the throne.
"Warning! Warning! High energy reaction detected!" the Virtual Universe Corporation soldier's detectors issued an alarm.
"This is bad!" Morris's expression changed drastically. "He's activated the palace's self-destruct system!"
“That’s right,” Carax laughed maniacally, “I’ve planted hundreds of high-energy bombs beneath the palace. In five minutes, the entire palace will be blown to bits. Then you’ll all be buried with me!”
"You're insane!" Leah roared. "You'll blow yourself up doing this!"
"So what?" Carax's eyes flashed with madness. "I've already lost, everything's over. Rather than be captured and subjected to the humiliation of trial, I'd rather die with you all!"
"Retreat!" Maurice immediately ordered. "Everyone, evacuate the palace immediately!"
The group turned and ran. But how could Carax let them leave so easily?
"Trying to leave? Too late!"
Ignoring his injuries, Carax unleashed the full power of the laws. Golden energy erupted in the throne room, forming a massive cage that trapped Maurice and the others.
"Break!" Morris slammed his palm into the cage, but although the cage shook violently, it did not break.
"This is a cage I maintained with the power of my life," Carax laughed maniacally. "It will take you at least three minutes to break free. But the bomb will explode in only four minutes. Hahaha!"
"Damn it," Eric gritted his teeth, as the three cosmic-level powerhouses attacked the cage together.
The golden cage shimmered under the three men's attacks, developing countless cracks. But Carax desperately tried to maintain it, preventing it from breaking.
Time passed by minute by minute.
Three minutes, two minutes, one minute
Finally, with thirty seconds left on the countdown, the golden cage shattered. Maurice and the others immediately rushed out of the throne room and sprinted towards the palace exit.
"It's too late," Morris said through gritted teeth, watching the countdown. "Everyone, defend with all your might!"
Three cosmic-level powerhouses simultaneously released their law power, forming a protective shield around everyone.
ten, nine, eight
"Hahaha, let's go to hell together!" Carax laughed wildly in the throne room.
three, two, one
boom! ! ! !
A deafening explosion rang out. The entire palace was engulfed in flames, the shockwave sweeping everything away. Buildings within a radius of several kilometers were razed to the ground.
The soldiers of the Virtual Universe Corporation, protected by three cosmic-level powerhouses, barely managed to withstand the shockwave. However, many were still injured, coughing up blood and collapsing to the ground.
When the smoke cleared, the once magnificent palace was gone, leaving only a huge crater.
“Carax.” Morris looked toward the center of the explosion, his face grim.
"He should be dead, right?" Eric said uncertainly.
"Send men to search," Morris ordered. "Find even the bodies."
The search team entered the ruins and searched carefully. An hour later, they finally found a charred body deep inside the ruins.
"DNA testing has confirmed it's Carax," the medical officer reported. "He's dead."
Morris breathed a sigh of relief, but felt little joy. Although the culprit had been caught, Carax's self-destruction had rendered the trial a pipe dream.
“Well, it’s better that he’s dead,” Maurice finally said. “At least the war is over.”
He turned on his communicator and announced to the entire army: "Karacs is dead, and the capital of Karak has been captured by our army. The war is over."
The news spread rapidly throughout the battlefield. The soldiers of Virtual Universe Corporation cheered, celebrating this hard-won victory.
The Karax army laid down their weapons and surrendered. Without Karax's rule, and without a reason to continue fighting, they did not want to make any more pointless sacrifices.
Rowan and his two companions sat beside the ruins, watching the cheering soldiers in the distance, their faces showing weary smiles.
"It's finally over," Thor breathed a sigh of relief.
“Yes,” Hong smiled, “although the process was difficult, we did it.”
“No, it’s not completely over yet,” Rowan shook his head. “The war is over, but the reconstruction has only just begun. The Kara civilization needs a new government, it needs to rebuild its homeland. All of this takes time.”
“That’s right,” Morris walked over, having heard Rowan’s words. “War is merely a means, peace is the end. Next, we must help the Kara civilization establish a truly democratic government and get them on the right track.”
“How long will this take?” Hong asked.
“At least ten years,” Morris said. “During these ten years, the Virtual Universe Corporation will send a monitoring team to ensure that the Kara civilization does not go down the path of militarism.”
"Ten years," Thor sighed. "That's a long time."
“But it’s worth it,” Morris said. “Only in this way can we ensure that peace truly comes.”
Over the next few days, the Virtual Universe Corporation took over the main planet Kara. They arrested war criminals, including high-ranking officials and generals involved in the decision-making process for the invasion. At the same time, they began to reassure the Kara population and distribute relief supplies.
