Chapter 455 Maintaining the Battle Formation!
Chapter 455 Maintaining the Battle Formation!
"Now that you've shown your true abilities, I can't hold back either," Kalon roared. "Kara Arcane - Ultimate Technique - Annihilation Strike!"
The golden spear light shot out with a roar, its target the three-colored orb of light. This was Caron's strongest move, which he had once used to kill a third-tier cosmic-level enemy.
Two terrifying energies met in the universe.
boom! ! ! !
In that instant, the entire moon was enveloped in blinding light. The energy surge from the explosion swept across everything, and even people on Earth could feel the tremors.
The Kara fleet was forced to retreat urgently, away from the epicenter of the explosion. Earth's warriors also quickly deployed their defenses to withstand the terrifying shockwave.
The explosion lasted a full minute. When the light faded, the far side of the moon was completely transformed. Its previously cratered surface had been smoothed out, revealing the underlying rocky layers. The moon had lost one-tenth of its mass.
In space, Charon's figure swayed unsteadily. Cracks appeared in his golden armor, and his right arm was covered in blood. The Spear of Annihilation lay dormant to the side, its light dimmed.
"They actually... injured me!" Karon stared incredulously at his wound. "Three sixth-tier stellar-level warriors actually managed to injure me, a second-tier cosmic-level warrior? If this gets back to the Kara civilization, probably no one will believe it."
Meanwhile, Rowan and his two companions were in a worse situation. All three had lost consciousness and were drifting in space. Their bodies were covered in wounds, and their life force was barely present.
The fusion of laws was too much of a burden for them, and coupled with their previous injuries, they had reached their limit.
“Damn Earthlings,” Caron wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, a murderous glint in his eyes, “They actually managed to injure me; this grudge must be avenged.”
He struggled to fly towards the three, preparing to deliver the final blow. But just then, a powerful aura suddenly appeared.
"That's enough, Caron."
A deep voice echoed through the universe. Immediately afterwards, a Karaman clad in black armor appeared before Karon.
"Lieutenant General Barton?" Caron was stunned. "Why are you out here?"
“I sensed your aura was disordered, and I was worried something might have happened,” Barton said, examining Caron’s injuries. “Indeed, these Earthlings are much stronger than the intelligence indicated.”
Barton is the vice admiral of the Kara fleet, second only to Karon in strength. He is at the peak of the first tier of the cosmic class, only one step away from the second tier.
"I'm fine, just minor injuries," Caron said somewhat awkwardly. "These three Earthlings are a bit strange; they've mastered the technique of law fusion."
“Law Fusion?” Barton frowned. “A stellar-level being can master Law Fusion? That’s impossible. Unless…”
“Unless what?”
“Unless they have received guidance from an advanced civilization,” Barton said gravely, “it seems the intelligence is wrong. There may be a powerful force backing Earth.”
“Then what should we do?” Caron asked.
"Retreat first," Barton decided decisively. "Although these three are incapacitated, other Earth warriors are still here. Besides, our mission is to conquer Earth, not to wage war against an unknown force."
“But…” Caron was somewhat unwilling.
“No buts,” Barton interrupted him. “You’re the captain; you need to consider the bigger picture. Spare these three men today, and we’ll make further plans after we figure out the forces behind the ball.”
Caron glanced at the three unconscious men, then gritted his teeth and nodded, "Okay, I'll do as you say."
The two turned and returned to the fleet. Barton transmitted the order via telepathy: "All troops, cease attack and retreat to the asteroid belt to await further orders."
"Yes!" the commanders of the Kara fleet answered in unison.
The massive fleet began its orderly retreat, heading towards the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
The Earth's warriors were stunned by what they saw.
"They...retreated?" someone asked incredulously.
"We won?"
"It was Rowan and his men! It must have been Rowan and his men who severely wounded the enemy's commander!"
Cheers erupted over the communication channel. But soon, someone realized something was wrong.
"Oh no! Masters Luo Wen, Hong, and Lei Shen have lost consciousness!"
"Quickly, save them!"
Master Jiang Tao, accompanied by several martial artists, rushed towards the three and carefully caught them. After examining them, Jiang Tao's expression turned serious.
"The situation is dire. Their injuries are extremely severe, and they are barely clinging to life," Jiang Tao immediately reported to the Earth command center. "They must be sent back to Earth for treatment immediately, or their lives will be in danger."
“Return immediately. We have the best medical team ready,” Elena’s voice came through. “You must save their lives.”
Several martial artists carried the three back to Earth at full speed. On the way, they injected the three with the Fountain of Life they had obtained from Sakar, temporarily stabilizing their injuries.
An hour later, the three were taken to the most advanced medical center in Huaxia Base City. Top doctors and medical experts sent by the Virtual Universe Company were doing their utmost to save them.
Hong Shuizhu stood outside the operating room, her face full of worry. Elena's holographic projection also appeared beside her, silently waiting for news.
“They’ll be alright,” Hong Shuizhu murmured. “They’re so young, they have such bright futures ahead of them.”
“Yes,” Elena comforted her. “They are heroes of the Earth; God will bless them.”
The surgery lasted a full six hours. When the operating room door finally opened, everyone nervously crowded around it.
"How is the situation?" Hong Shuizhu asked anxiously.
The attending physician removed his mask, revealing a tired but relieved smile: "Their lives have been saved. Although their injuries are severe, none are life-threatening. With the aid of the Life Spring treatment, recovery is only a matter of time."
"Phew!" Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
“However,” the doctor continued, “they will need a long period of rest. Especially Master Rowan, whose injuries are the most severe; he will need at least three months to fully recover.”
“Three months?” Elena frowned. “That’s a bit long. The Kara fleet may have temporarily retreated, but they could return at any time.”
"There's nothing we can do about that," the doctor shook his head. "Their bodies have reached their limits. If they don't rest properly, they might suffer long-term consequences that could affect their future cultivation."
“I understand,” Elena nodded. “Then let them rest well. In the meantime, others will guard the Earth.”
Three days later, Rowan was the first to wake up.
He opened his eyes and found himself lying in a pure white room. He was surrounded by advanced medical equipment, and his body was connected to various monitoring instruments.
"Is this...a hospital?" Rowan tried to sit up with difficulty, but the pain all over his body made him lie back down.
"Don't move, your injuries haven't healed yet," a gentle voice said.
Rowan turned his head and saw a young female nurse walking over.
"How did the battle go?" Rowan asked weakly.
“We won,” the nurse said with a smile. “The Kara fleet has retreated. All thanks to the valiant fighting of you three masters.”
"Where are Hong and Thor?" Rowan asked anxiously.
“They are also receiving treatment and their condition is stable,” the nurse reassured him. “Don’t worry, you’re all fine.” Hearing this, Rowan finally felt relieved. He closed his eyes and felt the power of the laws within his body.
"As expected, the consumption was too severe," Rowan sighed inwardly. "While the Law Fusion technique is powerful, the cost is too high. It seems I can't use it carelessly in the future."
Two days later, Hong and Lei Shen also woke up one after the other. The three of them were arranged to be in the same ward to facilitate communication.
"I never imagined we'd survive," Thor said with a wry smile, lying in his hospital bed. "I thought we were going to die."
“Me too,” Hong nodded. “That Karon is just too strong. If our fusion of laws hadn’t been a perfect counter to him, he would probably be dead already.”
“However, this has also exposed our trump card,” Rowan frowned. “The Kara civilization certainly knows now that Earth has powerful backers. Next time they come, they will be much more cautious.”
“That’s better than being wiped out,” Thor said. “At least we’ve bought ourselves some time.”
“That’s right,” Hong agreed, “and the reinforcements from the Virtual Universe Company should be arriving soon. With them there, the Kara civilization won’t dare to act rashly.”
The three were talking when the door to the ward suddenly opened. Elena walked in, a smile on her face.
“It seems you’re recovering well,” Elena said. “You can chat now.”
“Ms. Elena,” Rowan said, struggling to sit up, “what’s the situation outside?”
“The situation is better than we expected,” Elena said. “After the Kara fleet retreated to the asteroid belt, it hasn’t launched another attack. And according to monitoring, they seem to be waiting for something.”
“Waiting for what?” Hong asked.
“They might be waiting for reinforcements, or they might be investigating Earth’s background,” Elena analyzed. “In any case, this is good for us. The longer it drags on, the more advantageous it is for us.”
"When will the reinforcements from Virtual Universe arrive?" Thor asked anxiously.
“Seven days,” Elena said. “By then, an elite fleet will arrive on Earth. The fleet will include three cosmic-level powerhouses, enough to contend with the Kara fleet.”
"That's great," all three of them breathed a sigh of relief.
“However, you cannot let your guard down,” Elena cautioned. “The Kara fleet could launch an attack at any time during these seven days. Therefore, the other warriors are on standby on the moon, ready for battle at any moment.”
“We want to go too,” Rowan said.
“No,” Elena shook her head seriously. “The doctor said you need at least two weeks of rest. Going to the battlefield now will only be a hindrance.”
"But."
“No buts,” Elena interrupted him. “You’ve done enough. Now, let’s hand the battlefield over to others.”
Although the three were unwilling, they knew that Elena was right. In their current state, they were indeed unable to participate in the battle.
“Alright then,” Rowan finally conceded, “we’ll take good care of ourselves.”
“That’s right,” Elena smiled. “You all take good care of your injuries. Once reinforcements arrive, everything will be over.”
But things rarely go as planned.
On the fifth day, the Kara fleet suddenly made a move. They dispatched a small fleet toward Earth.
"Oh no, the enemy is attacking again!" Earth Command Center immediately issued an alarm.
"How many people should we send?" Elena asked calmly.
"Ten warships, led by a powerful figure with a cosmic-level aura!" the monitor reported. "It should be that Vice Admiral Barton."
“Barton,” Elena frowned, “he’s at the peak of the first tier of the cosmic level, slightly weaker than Caron, but still not easy to deal with.”
"What should we do?" someone asked.
"Gather all warriors and intercept them on the moon," Elena decisively ordered. "No matter what, we cannot allow them to get close to Earth."
"Yes!"
Soon, more than fifty Earth warriors regrouped around the moon. But this time, they faced an even more powerful enemy.
Barton stood on the flagship's deck, coldly watching the Earth warriors in the distance.
"These are the guys who severely injured General Caron?" his adjutant asked doubtfully.
“Don’t underestimate them,” Barton said in a deep voice. “The fact that they could injure General Caron shows they have unique methods.”
"Then we should be careful?"
“No,” Barton shook his head, “we must launch a full-scale attack and finish this quickly. Intelligence indicates that Virtual Universe Corporation reinforcements will arrive in two days. We must conquer Earth before then, or all our efforts will be in vain.”
"clear!"
Barton raised his hand, unleashing a powerful aura. It was pure, overwhelming power, more concentrated and terrifying than Kalon's.
"Warriors of Earth," Barton's voice echoed through the universe, "your resistance ends here. Today, I will personally end you."
The Earth warriors felt this oppressive aura, and their expressions changed drastically.
"So strong. Even stronger than that Karon from last time!" someone exclaimed in a trembling voice.
“Don’t be afraid,” Master Jiang Tao stepped forward to boost morale, “We have battle formations that can withstand his attack.”
"Yes, we still have battle formations!" everyone responded.
More than fifty martial artists quickly took their positions, forming the same battle formation as before. Various colors of energy intertwined, forming a massive energy shield.
But Barton just gave a cold laugh.
"Battle formations? Before absolute power, any technique is futile."
He clasped his hands together, and his black armor suddenly emitted a dazzling light. It was a pure black light, radiating an aura of destruction and chaos.
"The Law of Darkness—Devouring Everything!"
A massive surge of black energy erupted from Barton's body, transforming into a gigantic hand that blotted out the sky and reached out to grab the energy shield.
boom! !
The giant black hand slammed into the energy shield, instantly creating countless cracks. The Earth warriors felt immense pressure, and several of the weaker ones even began coughing up blood.
"Hold on!" Master Jiang Tao gritted his teeth and did his best to maintain the battle formation.
But Barton's attack had only just begun. He unleashed a series of palm strikes, each imbued with terrifying power. The energy shield teetered precariously under the onslaught, on the verge of shattering.
"Damn it, this guy is even harder to deal with than Kalon," Master Feng Wuchen gritted his teeth. "We can't hold out much longer."
Just when everyone was in despair, three figures suddenly flew in from the direction of Earth.
"let me!"
