Chapter 399 Engineering Miracle
Chapter 399 Engineering Miracle
"Our attacks on diplomatic missions, provoking military conflict, and attempts to frame others are unforgivable. We are willing to take full responsibility and make appropriate compensation."
Thunderous applause erupted in the auditorium. This was not the victor mocking the vanquished, but a celebration of the arrival of peace.
In his response, Prime Minister Mohsen stated, "We accept the apology from Planet Tana 1 and are willing to work with them to usher in a new era of peaceful coexistence. Past hatreds should be buried; future cooperation is our goal."
Subsequently, witnessed by Rowan and Silvermoon, the two leaders officially signed the "Tana System Permanent Peace Agreement".
In addition to the main peace terms, Rowan also put forward several specific compensation demands.
"Mediator, aren't these compensation amounts a bit too much?" President Caesar tried to bargain.
“Mr. President,” Rowan’s eyes sharpened, “this compensation is negligible compared to the cost of the war. If a full-scale war had occurred, your losses would have been a thousand times, ten thousand times greater.”
“Furthermore,” Silvermoon added, “these compensations are also to ensure the implementation of the agreement. With these concrete obligations, both sides will place greater emphasis on maintaining peace.”
President Caesar glanced at the solemn atmosphere in the room and recalled Rowan's terrifying strength, and could only nod in agreement helplessly.
“We accept these terms of compensation,” he said somberly, “and hope that this will lay a solid foundation for lasting peace between the two planets.”
The signing ceremony concluded amidst enthusiastic applause. When the two leaders shook hands and made peace, countless viewers watching the live broadcast were moved to tears.
“Peace has finally arrived,” an old man from planet Tana II said to his grandson. “Your generation will never have to worry about war again.”
On planet Tana I, while some people were dissatisfied with the president's "compromise," most people were grateful for the arrival of peace.
“Although we paid a price, at least we don’t have to fight anymore,” a mother from Tana I told a friend. “My son doesn’t have to go to the front lines to die.”
After the ceremony, Rowan and Silvermoon prepared to leave the Tana system. Their mission was complete, and peace had arrived.
"Mediation Commissioner, are you leaving?" Prime Minister Mohsen asked reluctantly.
“Yes, our work is done,” Rowan smiled. “The rest is up to you. Remember, peace requires the joint efforts of both sides.”
“We will cherish this hard-won peace,” Prime Minister Mohsen pledged. “The Galactic Peace Organization will always be our friend.”
President Caesar also came over to bid farewell to Rowan: "Mediator, thank you for saving us from a disaster. We will strictly abide by every clause of the agreement."
“I hope so,” Rowan nodded. “If there are any future conflicts, remember today’s lesson. Violence is never the best way to solve problems.”
With everyone seeing them off, Rowan and Silver Moon boarded the spaceship for their return journey.
"This mission has been successfully completed," Silvermoon summarized on the spaceship. "Although the process was more complex than expected, the result is very satisfactory."
“Yes,” Rowan said, gazing at the starry sky outside the window, “I hope this peace can continue. The universe needs more understanding and cooperation, not conflict and war.”
After leaving the Tana system, Rowan and Silvermoon's spaceship cruised smoothly through space. The atmosphere inside the cabin was much more relaxed; both felt a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction after this successful mediation mission.
“It’s finally over,” Silvermoon said, leaning back in her comfortable chair and letting out a long sigh of relief. “This mission was far more complex than we had anticipated, but the result is very satisfying.”
“Indeed,” Rowan said, checking the flight path, “although we encountered many unexpected events along the way, we ultimately succeeded in preventing an interstellar war.”
"Especially the strength you displayed completely shocked everyone," Silver Moon recalled the scene. "It was the first time I'd ever seen you go all out. That level of power is truly enough to make any lower-level civilization tremble."
"Strength is merely a means, not an end," Rowan said modestly. "If a problem can be resolved peacefully, I would rather never resort to force."
“That’s why you’ve become such an excellent mediator,” Silvermoon said sincerely. “You have both the strength to intimidate your opponents and the wisdom to seek peace.”
Just then, the spacecraft's communication system beeped.
"It's a remote communication request from headquarters," the ship's communications officer reported. "It's probably inquiring about the mission's progress."
“Connect it,” Rowan said, walking to the communication device. “It’s time to report the results to headquarters.”
Soon, a familiar figure appeared in the holographic projection—Department Head Claude. His face wore an expectant expression, clearly showing his concern for the outcome of this mission.
“Rowan, Silvermoon,” Claude’s voice came through the interstellar communication, “How is your mission progressing? We’ve received some reports about the Tana system, but we’d like to hear from you firsthand.”
“Supervisor, I am pleased to report to you,” Rowan stated formally, “that the conflict in the Tana system has been resolved satisfactorily. Both sides have signed a permanent peace agreement, and the threat of war has been completely eliminated.”
Claude's face immediately lit up with surprise: "Really? This is much faster than we expected. Could you tell me the details?"
Over the next hour, Rowan and Silvermoon gave headquarters a detailed report on the entire mission. From the initial contact and investigation to the discovery of the truth, and finally to the military conflict and the signing of the peace agreement, every detail was reported truthfully.
“Incredible,” Claude exclaimed after hearing the report. “You not only successfully prevented the war, but also got the attacking side to apologize and take responsibility. This is extremely rare in diplomatic history.”
“The key was demonstrating sufficient strength,” Silvermoon added. “When Planet Tana I saw our true capabilities, their attitude immediately changed.”
"Rowan's performance at that crucial moment was truly commendable," Claude praised. "One man repelling an entire fleet—that kind of deterrent power is indeed very effective in maintaining peace."
“I just did what I was supposed to do,” Rowan replied modestly. “Protecting peace is our duty.”
“Besides successfully resolving the conflict, you’ve also earned the company tremendous prestige,” Claude continued. “The signing of the Tana Galaxy Peace Agreement has spread throughout the galaxy, and many civilizations are praising Virtual Universe Corporation’s mediation capabilities.”
“This is indeed good news for the company,” Silvermoon said happily.
“More importantly, this success sets a benchmark for similar missions in the future,” Claude analyzed. “Other civilizations in conflict, seeing this case, are more willing to accept our mediation.”
Hearing the positive feedback from headquarters, Rowan and Silvermoon felt very satisfied. Their efforts had been recognized, and peace had been maintained.
“So, regarding your next steps,” Claude inquired, “are you planning to return directly to headquarters, or do you have other plans?” Rowan and Silvermoon exchanged a glance; they had discussed this issue before.
“Supervisor, we’d like to take a short break before returning to headquarters,” Rowan said. “This mission has been very demanding, and we’d like to relax a bit.”
“That’s completely understandable,” Claude nodded in agreement. “You’ve certainly worked hard. Are there any specific arrangements?”
“We plan to stay in Port Reno for a few days,” Silvermoon replied. “It’s a well-known port planet where we can resupply and relax.”
“Reno Port? Good choice,” Claude chuckled. “It is indeed one of the most famous trading and tourist centers in the galaxy. You can have a good time.”
“We’ll stay there for about a week, then head straight back to headquarters,” Rowan said.
“No problem, you deserve your vacation,” Claude said with satisfaction. “The company has already started preparing for your awards. There will be a formal recognition ceremony when you return.”
"Thank you for your concern, supervisor," Luo Wen and Yin Yue said in unison.
"That's all for now. Have a good time in Port Reno," Claude concluded. "The mission is officially over. Thank you for your hard work."
After the communication ended, the atmosphere inside the cabin became much more relaxed. The pressure of the formal mission had completely disappeared, and what followed was pure leisure time.
"Headquarters' response was even more positive than I expected," Silvermoon said happily. "It seems the success of this mission is of great significance to the company."
“Yes, and there will even be an awards ceremony,” Rowan said happily, “but now we can forget about work for a while and relax.”
“Speaking of Port Reno, this is my first time there,” Silvermoon said excitedly. “I’ve heard it has the largest shopping mall in the galaxy and the most beautiful artificial beach.”
“Indeed, Port Reno is a very special place,” Rowan explained. “It was originally a barren asteroid, but after centuries of development, it has become one of the most bustling ports in the galaxy.”
"What's special about that place?" Silver Moon asked curiously.
"Its biggest feature is its diversity," Rowan recalled of his previous experience. "It's a hub for merchants, travelers, and adventurers from all over the world; it's practically a microcosm of the entire galaxy's culture."
“That sounds interesting,” Silvermoon said expectantly. “We can try cuisines from different civilizations and buy some unique souvenirs.”
“The entertainment facilities there are also fantastic,” Rowan added, “There are gravity-simulated extreme sports, holographic virtual reality experiences, and various art performances.”
“Then we need to make a detailed travel plan,” Silvermoon said enthusiastically. “We can’t waste this rare vacation.”
The spacecraft continued its journey through space, and according to the navigation system, it would take approximately six more hours to reach Port Reno.
“Oh, right,” Rowan suddenly remembered something, “we should book a hotel. Accommodation in Port Reno is usually very tight, especially in upscale hotels.”
“I’ll handle it,” Silvermoon immediately began operating the spaceship’s reservation system. “How about we choose an ocean-view suite? We can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the artificial ocean.”
“Good idea,” Rowan agreed. “Since it’s a vacation, we should enjoy the best service.”
After some searching, Silvermoon found a highly-rated five-star hotel: "Blue Star Hotel, located in a prime location in Port Reno, boasts a private beach and top-notch spa services."
“That sounds great, let’s book it,” Rowan nodded in agreement.
After booking the hotel, the two began discussing the specific travel arrangements.
"On the first day, we can familiarize ourselves with the environment, rest at the hotel, and enjoy the spa services," Silver Moon planned. "On the second day, we'll go shopping in the central shopping district and experience goods from different cultures."
“On the third day, you can go to the Ocean Park,” Rowan added. “There are marine creatures from all over the world there, it’s well worth seeing.”
“On the fourth day, we’ll try extreme sports,” Silvermoon said excitedly. “I’ve always wanted to experience zero-gravity bungee jumping.”
"Are you sure?" Rowan asked, somewhat worried. "That's a very dangerous sport."
“Don’t forget our strength,” Silvermoon said confidently. “This level of exercise should be safe for us.”
“That’s true,” Rowan laughed, “Then let’s give it a try together.”
“On the fifth day, we can visit the art district,” Silver Moon continued, “I’ve heard there’s an exhibition of works by the most famous artists in the galaxy.”
“And there’s a concert hall,” Rowan added, “where musicians from different planets perform every night.”
“That sounds like the perfect vacation,” Silvermoon said contentedly. “It’s wonderful to be able to relax like this after work.”
Time passed quickly, and the spaceship finally approached Reynolds Harbor. Through the porthole, one could see the spectacular view of this famous port planet.
Port Reno truly lives up to its name. The entire planet has been transformed into a vast artificial environment, its surface covered by azure artificial oceans, with countless skyscrapers rising along its shores. The most spectacular feature is the massive space station orbiting the planet, serving as the main port facility where countless spaceships dock and transit.
“It’s magnificent,” Silver Moon exclaimed. “No wonder this place is called the Pearl of the Milky Way.”
“Yes, this represents the highest level of human environmental transformation,” Rowan was also awestruck by the sight before him. “Transforming a barren asteroid into such a beautiful planet is truly an engineering marvel.”
The spaceship began to enter the planet's atmosphere, which was of very high quality, even fresher than the air on most natural planets.
"Welcome to Port Reno," the air traffic control announced. "Please proceed to the designated flight path for the civilian aircraft parking area."
From high above, one can see the orderly urban planning on the planet's surface. Oceans, land, and cities blend perfectly together, forming a beautiful picture.
