Chapter 395 An Unbelievable Scene

“And looking at these internal memos,” Silvermoon discovered other documents, “the government had long ago decided to resolve the issue through war. They believed that only by completely defeating Tana II could they gain full control of the asteroid.”

Rowan continued flipping through the documents and discovered even more shocking information. One document, marked "Top Secret," revealed that Planet Tana 1 had signed weapons procurement agreements with certain alien arms dealers, preparing to acquire more advanced weapon systems.

“These weapons are far more destructive than their current technological capabilities,” Silvermoon analyzed the technical parameters. “If they were to use these weapons, Planet Tana II would be utterly helpless.”

“More importantly, these weapons could cause permanent damage to the ecosystem of the entire galaxy,” Rowan said worriedly. “They clearly haven’t considered the severity of the consequences.”

"It's time. We must leave," Silvermoon reminded them. "The security system will be back to normal soon."

The two quickly put all the documents away, making sure no trace was left, and then returned the way they came. The whole process went very smoothly without triggering any alarms.

Back at the hotel, both felt heavy-hearted. Tonight's discoveries had completely overturned their understanding of the conflict.

“Now we know the truth,” Rowan concluded, “Tana II has indeed been seeking a peaceful resolution, while Tana I has been determined to gain all the benefits through war.”

“Then our meeting with the envoys from Planet Tana II tomorrow is even more important,” Silvermoon said. “We need to understand their true thoughts.”

“Yes, we must stop this unnecessary war,” Rowan said firmly. “The truth must be revealed, and peace must be maintained.”

The following morning, Minister Carlisle personally visited the hotel to see Rowan and Silvermoon off. As planned, they would travel to Planet Tana II aboard a medium-sized transport ship to meet with envoys there.

“Mediation Commissioner, this meeting is of great significance to us,” Carlisle said earnestly on the tarmac. “We hope you can see the true nature of Tana II.”

"Rest assured, we will assess their sincerity objectively and fairly," Rowan replied, maintaining a clear understanding of the truth he had discovered last night.

“This spaceship is equipped with a state-of-the-art communication system. You can contact us at any time,” Carlisle said, pointing to the transport ship behind him. “If you encounter any problems, we will provide immediate support.”

Silvermoon noticed that although the spaceship looked like a civilian transport ship, it was actually equipped with a considerable amount of military equipment. "This ship has strong defensive capabilities," she said to Rowan via internal communication.

“It seems they’re also quite nervous about this meeting,” Rowan replied.

The spaceship's captain was an experienced middle-aged man named Marcus. He briefly explained the flight route to Rowan and Silvermoon: "It will take about six hours to reach Planet Tana II from here. We will fly along the safest route."

"The safest route?" Silvermoon asked.

“Yes, to avoid the military standoff between the two planets,” Marcus explained. “Although the journey will be a little longer, it will avoid unnecessary trouble.”

After the spaceship took off, Rowan and Silver Moon sat in the comfortable cabin, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the universe while discussing their discoveries from the previous night.

"Based on the information we have, Tana II has indeed been seeking a peaceful resolution," Rowan concluded. "Today's meeting should confirm this."

“But I always felt things weren’t that simple,” Silvermoon said thoughtfully. “If Planet Tana I didn’t want to negotiate, why did it agree to let us contact the envoys from Planet Tana II?”

“Perhaps they think we can convey a stronger stance to Tana 2 through our presence,” Rowan analyzed, “or they want us to witness the ‘hypocrisy’ of Tana 2.”

“Regardless, we must maintain a neutral stance,” Silvermoon reminded us. “The truth will eventually come to light.”

The spaceship was traveling smoothly through space, and according to the captain's estimate, they would reach Tana II in about three hours. However, just as they reached the neutral zone between the two planets, the spaceship's alarm system suddenly went off.

"Unidentified flying object detected approaching," Captain Marcus reported nervously. "It looks like a military fighter jet."

Rowan and Silvermoon rushed to the cockpit and could see three fighter jets rapidly approaching in the distance through the porthole. Judging from their appearance, these fighter jets were clearly military aircraft from Planet Tana II.

“They are calling us,” the communications officer reported.

"Connect the communications," Marcus commanded.

Soon, a cold voice came through the communicator: "Unidentified spacecraft, you have entered the defense zone of Planet Tana II. Halt immediately and submit to inspection."

“This is the diplomatic mission of the Galactic Peace Organization,” Marcus responded. “We are here at the invitation of the government of Tana II for diplomatic talks.”

“We have not received any notification regarding the diplomatic mission,” the other party’s tone became more stern, “Stop the ship immediately, or we will take coercive measures.”

Rowan and Silvermoon exchanged a glance; this situation was indeed somewhat unusual. Logically, the government of Tana II should have notified the military about their visit.

"Perhaps it's a communication delay," Silvermoon guessed, "or there's a problem with the transmission of information within the military."

“Continue to communicate with them,” Rowan told Marcus. “Our visit was indeed by formal invitation.”

Marcus tried again to explain: "We are carrying official diplomatic documents proving our identity and the purpose of our visit. Please contact your superiors to confirm."

However, the other side's response surprised everyone: "Our radar shows that your spacecraft is carrying weapon systems, which violates the regulations for diplomatic visits. You are given one last chance: stop immediately for inspection."

Marcus examined the spacecraft's systems with a puzzled look: "We do carry some defensive weapons, but that's permitted during diplomatic visits."

“It seems they’re deliberately causing trouble,” Silvermoon analyzed. “This behavior is very unusual.”

Just then, three fighter jets suddenly accelerated and assumed an attack posture. They spread out and surrounded the transport ship from three different angles.

"Warning, warning, enemy aircraft have entered attack position," the ship's defense system issued an urgent alarm.

“What on earth is going on?” Marcus gripped the joystick nervously. “Are they really going to attack the diplomatic mission?”

"Prepare to take evasive action," Rowan calmly ordered, "but do not fire first."

However, the fighters on Tana II seemed to have lost patience. The lead fighter issued an ultimatum: "Your refusal to cooperate with the inspection will be considered hostile. Begin the attack now."

"What?" Marcus exclaimed in shock, "Have they gone mad?"

The first laser beam fired from the lead fighter, striking the transport ship's shields precisely. The powerful impact shook the entire spaceship. "Shield strength reduced by 20%," the technician reported.

Immediately afterwards, two more fighter jets launched their attack. Laser beams and missiles flashed through space, turning the once peaceful airspace into a battlefield.

“This isn’t right,” Rowan observed the fighter jets’ attack patterns carefully. “Their attacks are very predictable, and their power is being deliberately controlled.”

Silvermoon also noticed the anomaly: "Indeed, with their firepower, if they really wanted to destroy us, they would have succeeded long ago."

“You mean they’re acting?” Marcus asked, puzzled.

“Very likely,” Rowan analyzed, “this could be some kind of test, or an attempt to create some excuse.”

Just then, the transport ship's communication system received an encrypted signal. The signal's origin was identified as Planet Tana I.

"Mediation Commissioner, have you been attacked?" Minister Carlisle's anxious voice came through the phone. "Our radar shows you are under attack."

“We were indeed attacked by fighters from the planet Tana II,” Marcus reported immediately. “They refused to recognize our diplomatic status.”

“This is outrageous,” Carlisle said angrily. “Attacking a diplomatic mission is a serious war crime. We must dispatch a rescue fleet immediately.”

“No need,” Rowan stopped him. “We’ll handle this.”

After closing the communication, Rowan said to Silver Moon, "Don't you feel that this whole situation is strange?"

“It’s really strange,” Silvermoon agreed. “Planet Tana II invited us, and then their army attacked us. Carlisle’s reaction was too timely.”

“I suspect this is a trap,” Rowan said, a cold glint in his eyes. “Perhaps someone wants to use this attack to sabotage any possibility of peace talks.”

The attacks outside continued, but as Rowan analyzed, they were more like a performance. The fighter jets' firepower was precisely controlled, creating the illusion of an attack without actually destroying the transport ship.

“We’ll take the initiative,” Rowan decided. “Let me handle this.”

"What are you going to do?" Silvermoon asked.

“Subdue them directly, but don’t harm the pilots,” Rowan said. “I need them alive to find out the truth.”

Rowan arrived at the spaceship's hatch and, to the astonishment of Marcus and the crew, opened it and walked out.

“Mediator, are you crazy?” Marcus yelled. “It’s a vacuum outside!”

However, what happened next left everyone speechless. Rowan was able to survive in a vacuum, and his figure moved like lightning towards the nearest fighter jet.

"How is this possible?" The crew members stared in shock at the unbelievable scene.

Silvermoon smiled as she spoke from inside the cabin, "This is the true power of the mediators from our Galactic Peace Organization."

Rowan's speed was astonishing; he approached the first fighter jet almost instantly. He didn't use any weapons, but simply disabled the fighter jet's power system with his telekinesis.

"Unit 1 has lost power. Repeat, Unit 1 has lost power," came the panicked voice of the pilot from Planet Tana II.

Immediately afterward, Rowan rushed towards the second fighter jet. This time, he used his telekinesis to control the jet's flight path, preventing it from continuing its attack.

"Aircraft number two is out of control, requesting assistance." The second pilot also panicked.

Seeing his comrade's fate, the pilot of the third fighter was clearly terrified and immediately ceased his attack, attempting to escape. However, Rowan was faster than the fighter and easily caught up with it.

“Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!” the third pilot cried out in despair. “I was just following orders!”

Rowan didn't harm him. Instead, he used his telekinesis to control all three fighter jets, arranging them in a row and suspending them in space. Then he returned to the transport ship.

“Now let’s talk,” Rowan said to the three fighter jets through the communications system. “I need to know who ordered you to attack us.”

“We…we were just following orders,” the lead pilot stammered. “The higher-ups said you were spies from Tana I.”

"What superior? Who exactly is he?" Luo Wen pressed.

“It’s General Raymond, the regional commander,” the pilot said without hesitation. “He said your identities are questionable and he wants us to intercept you.”

“General Raymond?” Upon hearing the name, Silvermoon immediately checked relevant information. “According to our intelligence, this man is a hardliner in the military of Planet Tana II and has consistently advocated for military action against Planet Tana I.”

"It seems this was indeed a trap," Rowan analyzed. "Someone wants to use this attack to undermine the possibility of peace talks."

"So what do we do now?" Marcus asked. "Should we continue to Tana II?"

“Of course we’ll go,” Rowan said firmly. “Our mission is to bring about peace, and we can’t let ourselves be hindered by such petty tricks.”

He contacted the three fighter jets again: "Now I'm giving you a choice: either escort us to Tana II, or I'll take you there directly."

“We…we are willing to escort them,” the pilots said, having no other choice.

And so, escorted by three Tana II planetary fighters, the transport ship continued its journey toward its destination. This ironic scene left Marcus and his crew bewildered.

"The mediator's abilities are astonishing," a crew member whispered to his companion. "He can survive in a vacuum and subdue three fighter jets with one hand."

“Now I understand why the Galactic Peace Organization sent them to mediate,” another crew member said with awe. “With that kind of power, they can certainly deter both sides.”

Two hours later, Tana II came into view. It was a predominantly continental planet, its surface a brownish-green, with vast mountains and plains visible. Completely different from the oceanic landscape of Tana I, it gave off a rugged and solid feel.
