Marvel: The other side of the double-passing door is Devouring the Stars
Chapter 352 Direct Evidence
Chapter 352 Direct Evidence
Rowan carefully studied the files of the three men. Victor Meteor appeared to be in his fifties, with a dignified appearance and an air of shrewdness and competence. Arya Stoneheart was a woman in her forties with mechanical blood and sharp eyes. Marcus Darkflow was a human man in his thirties who appeared gentle and refined, but whose eyes concealed a shrewdness that was difficult to detect.
"How will you infiltrate?" Silvermoon asked.
Samuel pulled up another document: "Meteorite Group is currently recruiting new employees, especially technical and management personnel. We have prepared two positions for you: Starscar will apply as a technical consultant for the Information Technology Department, and Silvermoon will apply as a business representative for the External Relations Department."
"A technical advisor?" Rowan was somewhat surprised. "I'm not very knowledgeable about technology."
The observer smiled and said, "Don't worry, we've prepared comprehensive background information and technical knowledge for you. Furthermore, your mental abilities have a significant advantage in information technology, which can help you quickly master the relevant knowledge."
Silver Moon nodded and said, "The identity of a business representative suits me very well. It allows me to come into contact with all sorts of external people, making it convenient to gather intelligence."
Over the next two hours, the two studied every detail of the mission in detail. They needed to master their new identities and backgrounds, learn relevant professional knowledge, and familiarize themselves with the organizational structure and business processes of the Meteorite Group.
“Xinghen’s new identity is ‘Lin Feng,’ a graduate of the Information Engineering Department of Galaxy Technology University, with five years of technical development experience.” Samuel handed Rowan a thick file. “This contains a detailed resume, educational background, work experience, and even family background and personal interests. You must have complete knowledge of this information, leaving no stone unturned.”
"Silver Moon's new identity is 'Suya,' a graduate of the Interstellar Business School with eight years of business negotiation experience." The Observer also gave Silver Moon a similar document. "You not only need to remember this information, but also truly integrate into these identities and become these people."
To ensure the authenticity of their identities, the Virtual Universe Company even created complete growth records for them. There is indeed a record of Lin Feng in the files of Galaxy Technology University, and Su Ya's complete academic record is also available at the Interstellar Business School. Even the companies they previously worked for have corresponding personnel records.
"How long have these identities existed?" Rowan asked curiously.
“Three years,” the observer replied. “We’ve been preparing these identities for potential missions for the past three years. Lin Feng and Su Ya both have a certain reputation in their respective fields and are fully capable of withstanding investigation.”
Next, the two began undergoing identity modifications. First came the change in appearance; the advanced disguise device not only altered their faces but also adjusted their height, build, and even their voices. Rowan became a tech-savvy man who looked to be twenty-eight, wearing glasses and with a focused expression. Silver Moon, on the other hand, became a mature woman in her thirties, dressed in a business suit and exuding a capable and efficient aura.
Then came the implantation of professional knowledge. Virtual Universe Company possessed a special technology that could directly implant vast amounts of professional knowledge into the brain. Rowan received implantation of information technology knowledge, including programming languages, system architecture, cybersecurity, and more. Silver Moon, on the other hand, received knowledge in business negotiation, market analysis, and customer relationship management.
"This kind of knowledge implantation is amazing," Rowan said, feeling the sudden influx of technical knowledge into his brain. "It's like I've really studied for many years."
“But be careful, the implanted knowledge is only the foundation,” Silvermoon cautioned. “True professional experience still needs to be accumulated in actual work. We must adapt to our new identities as quickly as possible and not reveal any flaws.”
Finally, there's the training in behavioral patterns. Everyone has their own unique behavioral habits, including walking posture, tone of voice, and way of thinking. Lin Feng is an introverted technician who enjoys thinking about complex technical problems and is not very sensitive to interpersonal relationships. Su Ya, on the other hand, is an extroverted businessperson who is good at communicating with people and is sensitive to market changes.
After three days of intensive training, the two were finally ready. They not only fully grasped their new identities, but more importantly, they had begun to think about problems using the mindset of their new identities.
"Remember, from this moment on, you are Lin Feng and Su Ya," the observer concluded. "Even in private, maintain consistency in your identities. Any mistake, no matter how small, could lead to mission failure."
"Understood," they both replied simultaneously.
The headquarters of the Meteorite Business Group is located on the bustling commercial planet Carol. This planet is the commercial center of the star system, a hub for merchants and businesses from various races. When Rowan and Silvermoon arrived on Carol in their commercial spaceship, they were already fully in their roles.
“Mr. Lin Feng, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” On the spaceship, Yin Yue struck up a conversation with Luo Wen. “I heard you were also there for an interview at Meteorite Group?”
“Yes, Ms. Suya.” Rowan adjusted his glasses, appearing somewhat introverted. “I’m applying for the technical consultant position in the Information Technology Department.”
Their conversation sounded like a first meeting between two strangers, without any flaws. In fact, this was part of their training—how to communicate secretly while maintaining their identities.
The atmosphere of Carol glows with a pale blue light, and the planet's surface is covered by a vast cluster of cities. The headquarters of the Meteorite Group is located in the heart of the most bustling commercial district, a colossal building complex reaching a thousand stories.
"It's truly spectacular," Rowan exclaimed, but quickly composed himself and reverted to his usual focused, technically-driven self.
Meteorite Group's recruitment process was very formal. The two were interviewed at different times to avoid revealing their connection. Rowan's interviewer was the head of the IT department, a half-human, half-machine man who looked to be in his forties.
"Mr. Lin Feng, your resume is quite interesting." The interviewer flipped through Luo Wen's resume. "A graduate of Galaxy Technology University, you worked at Interstellar Network Company for three years, and then at a data analysis company for two years. Why do you want to join our Meteor Group?"
Rowan had already prepared his answer: "Meteorite Group's information system for rare metal trading is the most advanced in the industry, and I hope to leverage my technical expertise on such a platform. Furthermore, I'm very interested in big data analytics; I've heard the group is developing a new market analysis system."
The interviewer nodded and then began asking some technical questions. Fortunately, thanks to his prior knowledge, Luo Wen answered fluently, demonstrating the professional level expected of an excellent technical person.
“Very good, Mr. Lin Feng.” The interviewer seemed satisfied after the interview. “We will give you the results within three days. If you pass, you will be assigned to the data analysis team, responsible for collecting and analyzing market information.”
Silvermoon's interview went equally smoothly. She was applying for a business representative position in the External Relations Department. The interviewer was a shrewd-looking human woman. "Ms. Suya, you have extensive experience working at the Interstellar Trading Company," the interviewer said. "Our External Relations Department needs someone capable of handling complex client relationships. What do you consider your greatest strength?"
“My strength lies in my understanding and adaptability to different cultures,” Silvermoon replied tactfully. “In interstellar trade, we often need to deal with clients of different races and cultural backgrounds. I have extensive experience in this area and can quickly build trust.”
The interview lasted an hour and covered various aspects including business negotiation, customer relationship management, and market analysis. Yinyue impressed the interviewers with her solid business knowledge and elegant demeanor.
Three days later, both received their acceptance letters. Even more excitingly, they were assigned to work in the same office building, which facilitated their secret contact.
On his first day at the company, Luo Wen arrived at the sixtieth floor of the Meteorite Group headquarters, the office area of the Information Technology Department. Hundreds of high-performance computers were set up in the huge open-plan office, where technicians of various races were working busily.
"Welcome to our team, Lin Feng." The data analysis team leader was a human named Tony, who looked to be in his thirties. "Let me introduce our work to you."
Tony gave Rowan a tour of the entire office area, explaining the functions of each department. The data analytics team is primarily responsible for collecting and analyzing market information to provide data support for the company's investment decisions.
“This is our data center,” Tony said, pointing to a row of massive servers. “Our system collects market information from various star systems every day, including commodity prices, supply and demand, policy changes, and so on. Your job is to analyze this data and identify valuable investment opportunities.”
Rowan feigned interest, but his attention was actually focused on the data center's security systems. As a field agent, his true objective was to obtain internal information about the Meteor Group, particularly evidence linking it to hostile forces.
"Is this system highly secure?" Rowan asked casually.
“Of course, the company’s most critical business data is stored here,” Tony said with some pride. “We use state-of-the-art encryption technology and access control systems; even company insiders need the appropriate permissions to access specific data.”
Rowan silently noted down this information. It seemed that to obtain the core data, he needed to find a way to gain higher access privileges.
Meanwhile, Yin Yue also began her work in the External Relations Department on the 80th floor. The environment here was completely different from the Technical Department; it was luxuriously decorated and filled with artwork and high-end furniture.
“Suya, welcome to our family.” Silver Moon’s direct supervisor was a woman named Helen, who looked to be in her forties. “Let me introduce our department.”
The External Relations Department is primarily responsible for maintaining relationships with key clients and partners, including government agencies, large corporations, and financial institutions. Yinyue was assigned to the VIP Client Services group, where she is responsible for handling particularly important client relationships.
“This is our VIP client list,” Helen handed Silvermoon a confidential document. “You need to contact them regularly, understand their needs, and provide them with personalized service.”
Silver Moon browsed the client list and found several names familiar. Some of these clients were affiliated with known rival forces. This discovery further convinced her that the Meteorite Group indeed had problems.
“Manager Helen, I’ve noticed a few clients with rather unusual backgrounds,” Silvermoon tentatively suggested. “Is there anything I should be particularly careful about when dealing with them?”
Helen's expression shifted slightly before she said, "Suya, some clients are indeed quite special. But our principle is that as long as it's legitimate business, we don't inquire about the client's background. Of course, if it involves sensitive information, you'll need to report to me."
This answer made Yin Yue even more suspicious. A normal business group should have a more rigorous background check on its clients.
Over the next few days, both men worked hard to adapt to their new work environment. Rowan excelled in the data analysis team and quickly gained the recognition of his colleagues. He used his mental strength to process large amounts of data rapidly and discover patterns that others missed.
"Lin Feng, your data analysis skills are truly impressive." Tony was very satisfied with Rowan's work. "Your superiors have given your report high praise; you might be given higher authority soon."
This was exactly the news Rowan wanted to hear. Higher privileges meant access to more critical data, which in turn gave them the opportunity to find the evidence they needed.
Yinyue also performed exceptionally well in the External Relations Department. With her outstanding communication skills and professional business acumen, she quickly established strong relationships with several key clients. More importantly, she began to notice some questionable transaction patterns.
“These transaction records are a bit strange,” Silvermoon said during a secret meeting with Rowan after get off work. “Several clients are making transactions at a frequency and in amounts exceeding normal business needs. Furthermore, the timing of these transactions often coincides with some important events.”
“I’ve made the same discovery,” Rowan shared his observations. “The data analysis system contains some specially encrypted files that even highly skilled technicians cannot access. Furthermore, I discovered that someone is secretly accessing these files late at night.”
The two exchanged a glance, both realizing they were getting closer to the truth.
“It seems we need to speed things up,” Silvermoon said. “I have a plan, but I need your cooperation.”
"Go ahead and speak." Rowan listened attentively.
“The company is having an important client dinner next week, and Chairman Victor Meteor and Vice Chairman Alia Stoneheart will be attending,” Silvermoon explained. “I can find a way to attend this dinner and observe these senior executives up close. As for you, you need to use this opportunity to infiltrate their offices and find more direct evidence.”
