Chapter 402 Welcoming and Sending Off, Earth-Shattering Changes
Chapter 402 Welcoming and Sending Off, Earth-Shattering Changes (6K words presented, please support with monthly tickets~)
Triangular thunder dragon flags are inserted around the stone base, the peach wood stake is carved with the thirty-six generals of the Thunder Department, and a dragon-suppressing talisman is placed under the four legs of the altar...
As more and more details were added, the altar became increasingly complete.
On the right corner of the altar, there was a mirror, which was the ritual implement of the master of sutras, the "Qian Yuan Bao Jian". In the altar ritual performed by Cheng Xinzhan, the function of this mirror was to show the position of the straw figure and the progress of the altar.
For example, now, twenty-six days after the altar was erected, the image of the Dragon Staff incarnation has clearly appeared in the mirror. At this moment, the scene in the mirror indicates that the Dragon Staff incarnation is not stored on the main body in the form of a vine staff, but is traveling alone as an incarnation. However, judging from the dense vines behind him, he should still be in the Ailao Mountains, and by a river.
It was a large river with a rushing current. Cheng Xinzhan, combining the sunlight and the river's direction, could roughly determine that it was a tributary of the Pushui River in the Ailao Mountains. At this moment, the Dragon Staff incarnate sat by the river casting a spell, and strange lotus-like plants grew in the river, with pale blue water spraying out of their pores.
Cheng Xinzhan shook his head. He could guess that Mu Longzhang was probably testing a method of using water to prevent fire, but it was too late.
On the right corner of the altar, there was an oil lamp, its flame burning quietly. This was the life lamp for the straw figure; its purpose was to indicate the figure's condition: if it lit, it was alive; if it shook, it was harmed; if it went out, it was dead.
The ritual of casting spells is divided into "rapid altars" and "slow altars." Cheng Xinzhan's "Tiangang Deception Altar" is the former. During the construction of the altar, the straw figure shows no abnormalities and has no reaction. However, when the spell is cast, it suddenly dies. The "slow altar" is even more vicious. From the moment the straw figure is placed on the altar, calamities begin to plague it, such as misfortune, loss of appetite and nausea, a foul odor, blindness and deafness, illness and epilepsy, internal burning, being bedridden, and being unable to control its own body. After experiencing a series of torments, it finally dies of fear.
The latter is against the natural order, and the cost of setting up the altar is high. It is generally not used unless there is a deep-seated blood feud. Moreover, this kind of altar requires the straw man to know that he is cursed but is helpless and lives in constant fear. If the straw man is not destined to die or the altar master's cultivation is insufficient, the straw man can easily break the curse in the early stages of setting up the altar, thus triggering a backlash.
If the "slow altar" is used, the straw effigy's life lamp will gradually dim until it goes out. Cheng Xinzhan and Mu Longzhang do not have such deep hatred, and he wants to kill with one blow, so he uses the "fast altar," and the life lamp is still bright as ever.
It was Chen Shi (7-9 AM) again when Cheng Xinzhan ascended the altar to perform rituals.
Holding the Thunder Dao Sword "Gao Zhen," wearing a Five Thunder Crown, flying cloud boots, and a purple robe, he leaped onto the peach wood stake. He first went to the altar; the old incense from yesterday had burned out, so he offered new incense and chanted…
"Burning incense, I proclaim to the deity Deng Tianjun and his thirty-six thunder generals: Now, there is a wicked, poisonous dragon, a false dragon wielding a staff made of rattan, who disrespects the Heavenly Way and shows no compassion for living beings. He falsely claims to be a dragon and has taken up residence in Ailao. Cheng Xinzhan, a disciple of the Thunder Palace, in accordance with the mandate of Heaven and the will of the people, has set up an altar here to invite the mighty gods of the Thunder Department to subdue the dragon and demonstrate the righteousness of Heaven!"
After offering incense, he held his sword upright in front of his chest, paid homage to heaven and earth and the four directions, and then began to perform the ritual steps.
At this point, there are thirty-six peach wood stakes, with four in the center supporting the altar table. Each of the four sides of the altar table has a stake on top, with the Thunder Bureau placed in the north, the Thunder Gate in the east, the Thunder Fire in the south, and the Thunder Command in the west. The remaining twenty-eight stakes are empty on top, with seven stakes on each of the four sides, all arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper.
He traveled in the order of east, west, south, and north, stepping on the "Yangming Star Pivot Gang" to the east, the "Danyuan Star Pivot Gang" to the south, the "Xinggang Star Pivot Gang" to the west, and the "Beichen Star Pivot Gang" to the north. He chanted incantations as he did so.
"Divine thunder and golden dragon, born in the heavens. Nine rivers and five lakes, the water palace of the immortals. Generating thunder and lightning, commanding the yin essence. Intertwining winds and hurling fire, driving heavenly soldiers. Flying clouds scattering qi, reaching the Great Darkness. Spreading violent divine transformations, the six Jia and six Ding. The Emperor's rescue talisman commands, it cannot be delayed for long. Hurry, hurry, as the law commands!"
From afar, one could see the Taoist priest moving with the agility of a dragon, his robes fluttering like a phoenix soaring, his sword flashing like lightning, and his incantations ringing out like thunder.
At this moment, if a cultivator skilled in body-based swordsmanship were observing the ritual, they would be even more able to perceive the exquisite footwork and swordsmanship of the Taoist priest on the altar. Although it appeared to be enhancing the altar's power, the Taoist priest was simultaneously performing an extremely sophisticated body-based swordsmanship technique. At this time, if someone with malicious intent were to come and destroy the altar, the Taoist priest could use this swordsmanship to both attack and defend.
Therefore, this is both a set of altar-encouraging sword techniques and a set of altar-protecting sword techniques.
This is the wonder of the interconnectedness of all principles and the mutual reference of all methods.
In fact, of all the magic arts in the world, nothing is learned in vain. Cheng Xinzhan is proficient in every kind of ritual, thunder magic, formation, stepping, body sword, prayer, incantation, and talisman. With all these combined, how could his altar magic be weak?
The ritual is completed after three rounds of walking around the altar.
At this moment, when Cheng Xinzhan looked in the mirror again, he found that the image in the mirror was even clearer, as if the person in the mirror was right in front of him. In fact, by this time, the incantation was almost complete, but since a time had already been agreed upon with Zang Faxian, it wouldn't hurt to spend two more days further blessing the altar.
Next, there will be two more rounds of altar visits at noon and 5 pm.
Taking advantage of this lull, Cheng Xinzhan decided to first send the things Zang Faxian had given him into the Ailao Mountains.
Although this altar was erected to curse and kill the false dragon, it is essentially a type of Five Thunder Altar, both belonging to the Thunder Path. Cheng Xinzhan believed that since he was sending something using Thunder Magic, and the thing he was sending was not large or numerous, he should be able to use this altar to perform the spell, and there was no need to erect another one.
He dipped his finger into the jade cauldron, then drew a circle on the altar, indicating that he was temporarily borrowing a sacred space so that the two would not interfere with each other. Of course, this was only possible because he was highly skilled and daring.
Immediately, he took out the two "dragon horn" conch shells given to him by Zang Faxian and placed them in the water circle on the altar. Then, he opened his robe a crack and said,
"Xiao Bao, you're out."
Then, the sleepy bug wiggled its antennae and crawled out.
"Go up."
Cheng Xinzhan pointed to the dragon's horns and said.
The insect obeyed and flew to the dragon's horn.
Then, he dipped his palm in water and wiped it on the mirror, as he also wanted to borrow the mirror for a while.
Sending the item was simple, and there wasn't much else to it.
Cheng Xinzhan then began casting the spell.
He once again performed the "North Pole Positioning Stance" on the peach wood stake.
After several maneuvers, he pointed his sword at the mirror and chanted,
"The thunder mirror is clear and bright, and the void resounds with a melodious sound; "
The thunderbolt from the Arctic transformed into divine light.
Using the sword as a guide, and the mirror as a window.
Mountains and rivers cannot obstruct, nor can they block. Reveal yourself!
"boom!"
The Thunder Sword unleashed a bolt of lightning, striking the Dharma Realm. The water on the Dharma Realm splashed with lightning, then a flash of silver light appeared, and the scene within the realm changed.
It was a dark, gloomy cave.
The exact size of the cave was unclear, but a soft, dark yellow light shone through the darkness, rising and falling slowly like breathing, barely visible within a radius of three zhang.
In the center of the ball of light, slowly emitting light, was a sword with a black hilt and a white blade.
"Lu Duan Tai A".
It is precisely because of this sword, which serves as a guide, that the method of sending objects to the altar becomes simple.
After the marker appeared, he then performed the "Shifting Stars and Moving Dipper" ritual, chanting...
"Thunderous chariots and lightning-fast horses, illuminating the darkness without casting a shadow."
Time flies, and the world fades into obscurity.
With a single thought in mind, one can vanish into thin air.
Walk! "
After reciting the incantation, he pointed his sword at the water circle on the altar, and then the Thunder Sword unleashed another bolt of lightning that struck the water circle.
As the lightning struck, the water ring suddenly exploded into a cloud of mist, then instantly transformed into a ball of lightning, like a bubble with a silvery halo, which floated leisurely up from the altar, containing the "Dragon Horn" conch shell and a sleepy little insect.
Then the ball lightning flashed brightly, emitting a dazzling light. The white light was so intense that Cheng Xinzhan couldn't help but close his eyes for a moment. When he opened his eyes again, he found that the ball lightning that had been hanging in the air had disappeared, along with the conch shell and the insect.
At this moment, Cheng Xinzhan looked in the mirror again and saw that in the cave of Ailao Mountain, next to the Tai'a Magic Sword, there was a pair of magic conch shells, and on the conch shells there was a small insect with waving antennae.
Become!
Moreover, Cheng Xinzhan remotely controlled the magic sword, emitting a beam of sword light resembling an inverted bowl, which covered the magic conch and the insects, without revealing any of their aura.
All is ready except for the opportunity.

The 28th day since the altar was opened.
July 19th, 472nd year of the Ming Dynasty.
Chenshi.
The auspicious time shared by both the mountain and water altars.
Linshuitan took the lead.
The altar by the water was built at the bottom of the Thousand-Foot Pool, and was much more magnificent than Cheng Xinzhan's altar. It was sixteen zhang wide and nineteen zhang high, with a total of twenty-one floors. Moreover, this altar was not tapering upwards, but rather was the same width from top to bottom, making it look like a huge underwater building. Its name was "The Cloud Tower Altar for Receiving Soldiers and Releasing Horses".
The construction of this kind of altar is much more difficult than that of Cheng Xinzhan.
However, it was only Zang Faxian who built the altar, and it only took him twenty-eight days.
It is true that everyone has their own area of expertise.
Around the high-rise altar, thousands of eyeless, cold snakes roamed around, listening and sniffing curiously, creating a magnificent yet eerie scene.
The top of the giant altar was extremely spacious, and the most eye-catching feature was two enormous archways facing each other from east to west. The two archways were exactly the same in design, carved with clouds on blue stone, and radiating a hazy aura of magic; they were clearly ancient artifacts. The archways spanned twelve zhang (approximately 63 meters), and fifty people could easily pass side by side.
On the south side of the altar, there are two altar tables, one smaller than the other. The offerings, incense, candles, tablets, and ritual implements on the two altar tables are all different.
At this moment, Zang Faxian was standing in front of the small altar on the west side.
On the altar was a wooden straw figure with a line of small characters carved on its chest:
"Originally from Kunming Prefecture in Yunnan, now residing in Ailao Mountain, the Venerable Poison Dragon Bathes in the Dragon Staff."
Since the altar was built and the ritual has been performed, the features of this straw figure have become indistinguishable from those of a real person.
At this moment, Zang Faxian was wearing a different robe than when he first met Cheng Xinzhan. He had changed into a robe unique to the Lushan Sect. He wore a lotus crown, a red skirt, and was bare-chested and barefoot. He held a water bowl in his left hand and a bell knife in his right, leaping and bounding with vigorous and complex steps.
After Zang Faxian completed the altar, he worshipped the gods at the altar every day. Now, he had reached the final stage, and all that could be heard was him chanting incantations.
"Heavenly spirits, earthly spirits!"
The laws of Lushan govern the vast and dark realms.
Xu Zu passed down the Dragon-Binding Incantation.
The Thunder Gods obey orders.
Beat him until his body stiffens and he can't move!
Break his tendons and bones, and lock him in with steel nails!
With the net of heaven overhead, escape is impossible.
Bound by the net of the earth, he was struck by lightning.
The leader of the Lushan religion personally gave this edict,
Execute! Execute!
After Zang Faxian finished reciting the incantation, he jumped back onto the altar with the last step, wielding a bell knife and cleaving it from top to bottom, which struck the straw figure squarely.
A flash of lightning appeared, and the straw man was instantly charred black.

Six hundred miles away, on Mount Ailao, at the edge of the Bottomless Cave, Mu Longzhang was still sitting cross-legged, peering into the cave. The half-cut dragon vine was recovering slowly and hadn't grown back yet. He was indignant, thinking that once he established his Nascent Soul Dao Domain, he would definitely go and cause trouble for that stinky Taoist!
But just then, a loud "crack" was heard. Three feet directly above Mu Longzhang's head, the void suddenly split open, and a bolt of white lightning struck down.
The speed was so fast that Mu Longzhang couldn't react in time. However, he had a protective magic treasure, a green wooden pagoda base, which jumped out of his Purple Palace and blocked his head.
However, although his magic weapon was spiritual, its quality was not high. It was no match for Lushan's curse lightning. It didn't even last a moment before it was shattered into dust, and the curse lightning immediately struck Mulongzhang's forehead.
Mu Longzhang felt numb all over his body, and instantly lost all sensation, unable to move at all.
It's going to happen!
The demon immediately realized he had been ambushed. In a very short time, he tried every method he could think of, but none of them could awaken his body. With no other options, the demon decided to abandon his physical body and escape through the Nascent Soul, Elixir, and Divine Realm.
However, he discovered to his despair that his body had become a cage, and he could not leave even his three treasures: essence, energy, and spirit.
Who is it! Who is trying to harm me!
The demon roared inwardly, pinning his hopes on the approaching avatar.
However, in the next instant, he watched in disbelief as a green tree in the distance emitted a bright blue light, transforming into a blue sword rope that wrapped around him.
It's him!
Mu Longzhang realized what was happening.
However, that was his last thought. The next moment, he felt a strong drowsiness wash over him and fell into a deep sleep.

Wuliang Mountain, the summit of Bijia Mountain.
Tian Gang goes to the false altar.
As Zang Faxian chanted the incantation, Cheng Xinzhan also moved. He shifted his stance on the peach wood stake, brandished his magic sword, and recited:
"Thunderous decrees, commanded by the supreme god."
Thunder and fire advance, lightning follows closely.
Heavenly Virtue and Lunar Virtue, mighty and most spiritual.
Seventy-two parts, Water Emperor Dragon Essence.
Commander of the Thunder God and the God of Heavenly Fire.
Do not delay, for it will only fuel my anger.
Wind and fire lashed down, lightning energized the divine wheel.
"Hurry, hurry, as the law commands! Execute!"
After reciting the incantation, Cheng Xinzhan pointed his sword at the talisman on the altar. The sword emitted lightning and struck the talisman, which immediately burst into flames.
Dark clouds loomed overhead, lightning flashed, thunder roared, and a fierce wind blew.

Ailao Mountain, by the Shimen Creek.
Mu Longzhang's avatar was adjusting the mountain-protecting formation, intending to connect the formation base to the water vein, when suddenly his expression changed.
I am in trouble!
The avatar immediately took flight, but just as he moved, the void three feet above his head suddenly split open and crashed down upon him.
"boom!"
The Dragon Staff boasted that its incarnation possessed skin of copper and bones of iron, making it impervious to swords and spears, so all its protective magic treasures were on its true body. Thus, the heavenly lightning struck without any resistance, directly hitting the incarnation's brow and quickly rushing into the Purple Palace.
The fragmented consciousness that the Dragon Staff had entrusted to its avatar only saw a dazzling beam of lightning and fire shining down before it immediately lost consciousness.
The purple palace that was transformed was completely burned to ashes by thunder and fire.
Then, lightning and fire overflowed from the Purple Palace, spreading throughout the body. In less than ten breaths, the lightning and fire subsided, and the Dragon-Bathing Staff was nowhere to be seen. On the ground, there was only a dark green vine, about ten feet long, with a root resembling a dragon's head and a tip resembling a dragon's tail.
“Woo—woo—”
“Woo—woo—”
Just then, a somber, low horn sounded from the depths of the Ailao Mountains.

Wuliang Mountain, at the bottom of Thousand-Foot Pool.
Receiving troops and releasing horses at Yunlou Altar.
After completing the first altar ritual, Zang Faxian immediately went to the large altar table on the east side. To him, building such a tall altar at such a deep bottom of water, and the spell that briefly imprisoned the Dragon Staff earlier, was just like Cheng Xinzhan using the altar to perform a ritual to deliver something—it was all done incidentally. The ritual he was about to perform was the true purpose of building this altar.
As for the Dragon-Slaying Staff, it was only briefly imprisoned. What would happen after that? What about the fourth-realm avatar? Zang Faxian could only choose to completely trust the person who had fulfilled the prophecy in the patriarch's words.
At this moment, his mind was free of distractions; he performed the ritualistic swordplay while chanting mantras.
"The supreme ruler in heaven is the Jade Emperor, and the most noble person on earth is the monarch."
All the gods and spirits under heaven revere him, but only Lushan holds the reins.
Today we open the altar to welcome the divine generals, with banners gleaming and drums beating.
The sect has opened the gates to the mysterious gate; swiftly dispatch troops to the altar!
After reciting the incantation, Zang Faxian pointed his knife at the archway to the east of the center of the altar. Suddenly, the archway emitted a brilliant light, illuminating the entire bottom of the pool. The eyeless, cold snakes that had been watching the spectacle around the altar sensed the light and were immediately frightened into slithering into the crevices of the rocks at the bottom of the pool.
Then, an astonishing scene unfolded!
There was clearly nothing under the archway, yet the sounds of footsteps and horses' hooves could be heard out of nowhere!
"Da da, da da—"
The sound was loud and orderly.
Immediately, the water above the archway shimmered and shimmered with divine light, and two black flags embroidered with the words "Lushan" and "Linshui" slowly emerged from the water above the archway!
Once the flag was fully extended beyond the archway, the two fully armored knights holding the flag appeared.
The two knights were fully armored, their fish-scale armor gleaming with silver light. Both were at the Golden Core stage of cultivation, and they rode on dragon-headed, horse-bodied steeds, striding proudly.
As the two knights emerged from the archway, their soldiers followed in single file. The disciples of Lushan marched in formation, each with a resolute gaze and a murderous aura. They carried various magical weapons, including bells, dragon horns, command flags, golden bells, court tablets, whips, flying arrows, thunder tokens, rulers, celestial rulers, and ghost-binding staffs, all radiating light and arranged in perfect order.
Zang Faxian had no time to stop and admire the disciples' impressive display of skill as they went into battle. He continued casting spells without stopping, performing rituals and chanting incantations.
"The Jade Emperor's decree governs the Three Realms, and the King's holy edict spreads to the Four Borders."
The decree from Lushan arrived even earlier, and neither the divine soldiers nor the ghost generals dared to resist!
Once the decree is issued, it is as imposing as a mountain; do not hesitate to punish evil and vanquish the wicked.
Following the dragon's roar, we forge a bloody path; our glory shines brightly over Linshui Township!
After reciting the incantation, Zang Faxian pointed his sword at the western archway in the center of the altar. Immediately, the western archway shone brightly, and at the same time, a somber, low horn sounded from beneath the empty archway.
“Woo—woo—”
"All the gods and spirits under heaven revere him, but only Lushan takes charge!"
The two flag bearers shouted a slogan in unison, then spurred their dragon horses and charged into the west archway.
A flash of light appeared, and the two knights vanished instantly.
"All the gods and spirits under heaven revere him, but only Lushan takes charge!"
The disciples of Lushan then shouted in unison, flowing out from the east archway and entering from the west archway like a stream; it was impossible to tell how many people came.
"who!"
"what's the situation!"
"Where did all of this come from?!"
"Run for your life!"
"what--"
Panic, the whooshing of air, and screams echoed from the West Archway, reverberating in the Thousand-Foot Pool.
Zang Faxian finally finished casting the spell. Even with his profound level of skill, he felt deeply exhausted after continuously performing incantations, receiving troops, and sending them away. He wished he could just collapse and fall asleep immediately.
However, there was no other way. The sect's main altar was too far from Dianwen, and it was impossible to transport a large number of troops over such a distance using only the "dragon horn as a guide." There needed to be a high altar at the other end to receive the troops. Once the troops were brought to the bottom of the pool in Wuliang Mountain, it would be close enough to Ailao Mountain, and the dragon horn, which had been released in advance, could be used as a guide to send the troops there.
Opening two gates of the Dharma realm simultaneously, welcoming and sending off troops in an extremely short time, inevitably consumes a great deal of magical power and spiritual energy.
However, even so, Zang Faxian would not be absent at such a crucial moment. Although Master Guangfa was confident in subduing the Dragon Staff and had opened up a complete underground troop transport route using the earth-attribute magic sword left at the foot of Ailao Mountain, no one could predict what strange things might still exist in Ailao Mountain or what unforeseen events might occur. Today's surprise attack allowed no room for error, and not a single person could escape. As a fourth-realm expert, he had to appear and oversee the situation.
He took out a medicine bottle, uncorked it, and poured the contents into his mouth like candy beans, chewing as he rushed towards the west archway.

Wuliang Mountain, the summit of Bijia Mountain.
Tian Gang goes to the false altar.
Through his Dharma Realm, Cheng Xinzhan witnessed the entire process: the incarnation of the Dragon Staff was effortlessly annihilated by the cursed lightning, its consciousness extinguished, leaving it a motionless dragon-shaped vine. Seeing the oil lamp on the altar suddenly extinguish without any signs of dimming, flickering, or reigniting, he realized he had overexerted himself. It seemed that simply cursing a mere incarnation of a plant dragon was unnecessary, requiring such a powerful incantation.
He looked inward and examined his own life force in the Crimson Palace. He thought to himself that it was alright; he had only lost five years of his lifespan. However, if he had controlled his strength well, he could probably recover in three years at most. He had been too cautious.
However, it wasn't a major issue. Capturing a fourth-realm demon alive and gaining a fourth-realm level dragon vine was an acceptable price to pay. Most importantly, the Golden Core Divine Power he gained during his fourth purification of his Golden Core, which resulted in its perfection, granted him an extra two cycles of lifespan.
Sensing that the wooden sword had bound the true form of the Dragon Staff, and that Xiao Bao had successfully drugged the demon, and hearing the deafening battle cries coming from the bottom of the Thousand-Foot Pool, Cheng Xinzhan knew that the outcome was decided.
He did not go over immediately. He was feeling very weak, so he began to slowly and deliberately dismantle the ritual and cleanse the ritual implements with pure water to eliminate karmic obstacles.
