My Peninsula 2007

Chapter 476 Trouble

Chapter 476 Trouble
The Zhao family's old residence in Daogudong.

The name "Zhao Family Old House" is no longer appropriate, because just two weeks ago, after much entanglement with Zhao Chenghao, An Rusong finally spent a sum of money to buy the house.

Although it was called a purchase, it didn't actually cost much money. For Zhao Chenghao, it was practically a sale, or even a free gift. Although the Zhao brothers couldn't compare to An Rusong in terms of personal assets, they didn't really care about a house like this. After all, it wasn't a luxury mansion, and the location wasn't particularly outstanding.

One downside of old houses is that, because they've been built for so long, many basic facilities, both inside and underground, have aged, and problems tend to arise here and there.

Recently, Seoul has experienced heavy rainfall. Although this old house is located on high ground, the underground drainage system became blocked, causing water to inevitably accumulate in the yard. As a result, An Rusong arranged for someone to come and inspect it a couple of days ago.

At the time, he also had all the appliances in the house replaced, including the air conditioner and refrigerator. Now that he had bought the house, it was natural to replace everything that needed replacing.

In the master bedroom bathroom of the old house, just as the phone rang from outside, An Rusong stepped out of the round bathtub. He casually grabbed a bath blanket from the wall rack, dried his still-wet hair, and slowly walked out of the bathroom.

The bedroom outside the bathroom was empty, while the cell phone was ringing from the living room, which was connected to the master bedroom.

"See who called," An Rusong said loudly without going directly to the living room. He then walked to the bedside and picked up the cigarettes and lighter that he had left on the bed earlier.

"It's a call from the company," Yuan He's voice came from outside, interspersed with the sounds of her and Yuan Ya playing around.

Upon hearing that it was a call from the company, An Rusong turned around and walked towards the living room.

In the living room, sisters Yuan Ya and Yuan He were fiddling with some clothes in front of the sofa in the center of the room. When they saw An Rusong come out of the bedroom, they turned around and faced him. They raised their arms at the same time, and while turning around, they said with a smile, "Brother, do you think we look good in these clothes?"

The two sisters were each wearing a JK uniform. Yuanhe wore a navy blue short-sleeved sailor top with a gray pleated skirt, while Yuanya wore the opposite: a gray short-sleeved sailor top with a navy blue pleated skirt.

In addition, both of them were wearing white knee-high socks and black round-toed flat shoes, dressed like pure schoolgirls.

Of course, the two sisters are currently at the age of high school students, so this kind of outfit is perfect for them.

An Rusong reacted the moment he saw the sisters' outfits. Unfortunately, he was completely naked at the time, so the two sisters saw his reaction clearly. They burst into laughter, their laughter filled with smugness.

At this moment, the phone on the coffee table stopped ringing. An Rusong walked over, picked up the phone and looked at it. Seeing that the call was indeed from the company, he dialed it back and gestured for the Yuan sisters to be quiet.

The call was quickly answered, and Jiang Xiuyuan's voice came from the other end. She said hurriedly, "Brother, ah, no, Chairman, something's happened."

An Rusong raised his eyebrows, turned around and sat down on the sofa, saying, "Xiuyuan, don't panic, tell me what happened first?"

“A prosecutor named Choi Shin-yong just called,” Kang Soo-won said. “He said you are involved in a criminal case of intentional injury and that you need to go to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office for questioning before 4 p.m. today. He also said that if you don’t go by then, they will take further action.”

An Rusong twitched his lips. He didn't know this prosecutor, Choi Shin-yong, but now that a prosecutor had come to his door, and from the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office no less, he could guess what this so-called criminal case was all about without even thinking.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, as the name suggests, is responsible for investigating cases related to the western district of Seoul. There are several districts in the west, and Eunpyeong District happens to be one of them.

It is clear that what happened two days ago when An Rusong went to inspect the NGN new headquarters construction site still caused him trouble.

What kind of trouble? An Rusong wasn't sure of the specifics, because after that day's events, he hadn't paid much attention to it, since he hadn't taken the conflict seriously. And frankly speaking, in the entire conflict, he was merely a victim; his car was smashed, and he hadn't even gotten out of it. Whether someone was injured or killed, what did it have to do with him? Just because the assailants were construction workers at the new NGN headquarters building, did he have to be a bystander?
Cui Shenyong? A prosecutor? So what if he's a prosecutor?
“Okay, I understand,” An Rusong leaned back in the sofa, talking to Jiang Xiuyuan on the phone while handing the cigarette and lighter in his other hand to Yuan Ya. “You don’t need to worry about this. I’ll call Attorney Thomson and have him handle it. He knows about what happened that day and knows how to resolve it.”

Thomson has now signed a legal representation contract with NGN. Many legal issues during the construction of NGN's new headquarters building are being handled by this American. He was even present when An Rusong inspected the construction site, though he didn't leave with him. "Are you sure everything will be alright?" Jiang Xiuyuan was clearly still worried. She whispered on the phone, "I just checked online, and it says someone died there."

Someone died?

An Rusong frowned involuntarily, but then said, "If someone dies, it has nothing to do with me. Why are you so worried?"

As he finished speaking, Yuan Ya, who was standing next to him, handed him a cigarette. Seeing An Rusong take the cigarette and put it in his mouth, she knelt on one knee on the sofa, brought over a lit lighter, and lit the cigarette for him.

“Alright, let’s leave it at that for now. I’ll contact Thomson right away.” Taking a drag of his cigarette, An Rusong glanced at Yuan Ya, who had moved closer to him, and then at Yuan He, who was standing on the other side. He then pursed his lips, blew the smoke from his mouth toward Yuan He, and pointed to his crotch with the hand holding the cigarette before continuing, “Don’t overthink it. We’re law-abiding citizens, you know?”

During the phone call, Jiang Xiuyuan was silent for a while before whispering, "I understand. I'll hang up now."

"Okay, hang up," An Rusong replied, and casually hung up the phone.

At this moment, the sensible Yuanhe had already knelt between his legs. An Rusong was searching for Thomson's number on his phone, and without looking up, he said to Yuan Ya, "Yuan Ya, you're not as smart as your sister."

Yuan Ya was stunned for a moment, then she understood. She giggled, jumped off the sofa, and squeezed right next to Yuan He.

Seeing the two sisters, so young and fresh-faced, kneeling before him, An Rusong smiled, stroking Yuan Ya's hair with the hand holding a cigarette, while dialing Thomson's number.

For a seasoned lawyer like Thomson, An Rusong didn't need to say much; he only needed to state his demands. Moreover, he was aware of everything that had happened that day. Therefore, An Rusong only exchanged a few words with the other party on the phone before ending the call.

Originally, An Rusong didn't intend to pay any attention to that Prosecutor Cui Shenyong, but Thomson still suggested that he go to the Western District Prosecutor's Office in the afternoon. After all, according to the law, prosecutors handling related cases have the right to ask him to cooperate with the investigation.

After ending the call with Thomson, An Rusong tossed his phone aside, feeling a surge of anger that he desperately needed to vent.

He sat up straight, reached out and hooked Yuanhe's chin, tilting her head back slightly. Just as he was thinking of what to say, his phone, which he had just tossed onto the sofa, rang again at an inopportune moment.

"Continue," An Rusong muttered under his breath, pinched Yuan He's cheek, and casually picked up his phone again.

The call was from Liu Shanyong; it seemed he knew the prosecutor had contacted him.

As soon as An Rusong put the phone to his ear after the call connected, he heard Liu Shanyong's voice coming from the other end: "Rusong, your brother has to apologize to you."

An Rusong didn't speak directly. After taking a drag of his cigarette and pondering for a few seconds, he said, "Brother Shanyong, Shen Xiangji doesn't seem as reliable as you say."

He did not respond to Yoo Seonyong's apology, but instead directly said that Shin Sang-gil was unreliable, which was tantamount to blaming the other party for being incompetent.

“It was an accident, no, it was also my brother’s negligence,” Liu Shanyong said with a frustrated tone. “I didn’t expect Quan Longcan to get involved in this matter, that damned guy.”

Quan Longcan? Some information about this name flashed through An Rusong's mind.

He had heard of the name before, and the person it represented was a rising political star who had emerged in the last two years, belonging to the progressive Democratic Party. This person had recently announced his candidacy for the parliamentary election in Enping District, Jia, as a member of the Democratic Party, becoming the strongest contender among the three candidates for parliament in that constituency.
