Chapter 469 What to do?

Chapter 469 What to do?
"Regardless, I hope Chairman An will reconsider the suggestion I just gave. Well, take care of yourself," Zheng Junnan really had no way to deal with An Rusong. Most importantly, he could tell that the other party's last sentence was full of threat.

An Rusong said he had many American friends, and Zheng Junnan had no doubt about that. Obviously, if this guy didn't have enough influential American friends, his NGN's extensive exposure of drug trafficking cases involving US troops stationed in South Korea would have been enough to give him a hard time.

But now, after causing such a huge mess, this guy not only hasn't disappeared, nor has he been sent to prison; he's still alive and kicking, which speaks volumes.

To reiterate, Jung Joon-nam is not someone who truly wants to uphold justice and restore order to the South Korean military. The reason he is targeting Jung Se-jik is simply because of their personal grudge. Therefore, he does not have the courage to provoke the Americans for this personal grudge.

Moreover, on the land of the Republic of Korea, it might take some effort for those Americans to cause trouble for an ordinary businessman, but it would be incredibly easy for them to cause trouble for a South Korean soldier.

Take Zheng Junnan as an example. If Colonel Leonard wanted to cause him trouble, he only needed to send a coordination letter to the South Korean military and find an excuse to transfer him to the attached South Korean military coordination unit. Once he was in the South Korean coordination unit, Leonard had plenty of ways to mold him.

“Thank you for your advice, Prosecutor Zheng,” An Rusong smiled dismissively, then added, “In addition, I would also like to offer Prosecutor Zheng a piece of advice.”

He paused for a moment, then continued, "As the saying goes, it's better to resolve conflicts than to create them. In today's society, it's always better to have more friends than more enemies. So, Colonel Zheng, you should understand what I mean, right?"

Zheng Junnan's lips twitched. He glanced at An Rusong one last time, then turned around without saying goodbye and walked quickly toward the door.

The guy left quickly, but the four people who came in with him didn't all leave with him. The female soldier who had initially revealed An Rusong's identity lingered until the very end. Only after her companions had all left did she suddenly put on a smiling face, walk quickly to An Rusong, take out a small notebook, and say, "Mr. An, I'm a loyal NGN user and a fan of yours. Could you sign an autograph for me?"

An Rusong stared at the other person in astonishment, then chuckled after a moment, took the notebook from the other person in a generous manner, and signed his name directly on the title page of the notebook.

"Thank you," the female soldier said softly as she took the notebook from him. "Keep up the good work, Mr. An. I'll always support you!"

After saying that, she clenched her fist and then ran out the door quickly.

After the female soldier left, about four or five seconds later, Lin Ya'en quickly walked to the door. She peeked into the corridor to make sure no one was outside before slamming the door shut. Then, turning around, she patted her ample chest and said with a sigh of relief, "That scared me to death!"

An Rusong didn't say anything. He sat back down in his seat, picked up a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table, and was about to light one when Lin Ya'en, who had just returned, snatched the pack away first.

"You know what? My heart almost jumped out of my chest when he looked at me just now," Lin Ya'en said, taking out a cigarette for An Rusong and lighting it for him before sitting down next to him. She looked shaken. "If you hadn't taken that document from me, I wouldn't know what to do."

An Rusong took a drag of his cigarette, leaned back in the sofa, and said in a languid manner, "With this little bit of composure, can you really control a large hotel with a main building that's 37 stories high and auxiliary buildings? And this hotel also has military connections."

His questioning is quite normal. After all, although Zheng Junnan is also a colonel and a military prosecutor, imagine if Lin Ya'en is now the head of "Military Home" and controls a leisure and entertainment venue frequented by high-ranking officials and generals. If she were to turn weak in the knees and become cowardly when facing a military prosecutor, would that work?

Honestly, given the social atmosphere in South Korea, the true head of a "military family" should not only not be afraid when facing a military prosecutor like Jung Joon-nam, but should also adopt an arrogant and haughty demeanor.

So what if he's a military prosecutor? With just a few phone calls and contacts, they can strip a military prosecutor of his uniform, or at least transfer him to some remote, secluded corner of Jeollanam-do to guard a pond.

"They were just unprepared," Lin Ya'en said softly, massaging An Rusong's thigh, realizing she had just made a mistake. "Besides, who is born to be in a superior position? No matter what you do, you should always give people a chance to learn."

An Rusong did not continue to blame her. In fact, what the other party said was not wrong. She did not have any particularly strong background, so it was impossible for her to develop that calm and composed demeanor out of nowhere.

“However, we’ve finally gotten through this hurdle today,” Lin Ya’en said, picking up the documents An Rusong had left aside and flipping through them. “Overall, things went relatively smoothly.”

She spoke with obvious smugness, clearly indicating that the conditions in the document were not a problem for her. Ultimately, securing a project like the "military personnel reformation" program requires paying a price.

A 37-story building, along with an annex, located in downtown Seoul—even amidst the devastation of the real estate industry due to the subprime mortgage crisis, such a project is not something an ordinary person can easily acquire. Frankly, if An Rusong hadn't used his connections, Lin Ya'en, with her background, wouldn't have been able to win the bid even if she had gone through the proper channels.

Even if she did win the bid, she would eventually be taken advantage of and exploited by someone else during the course of her business operations.

The world has its own rules of operation. If an ordinary person doesn't encounter a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and is also blessed with great fortune, the growth of their status and wealth will have its limits. No matter who it is, if they want to break through these limits, they will have to pay an unimaginable price and effort.

An Rusong wouldn't interfere with Lin Ya'en's decision, but even so, seeing her smug expression, he couldn't help but say, "Don't be too happy yet. Do you think Zheng Junnan will let this go so easily?"

Lin Ya'en's smile froze as An Rusong reminded her that she had realized the problem.

“This guy backed down just now because he didn’t know I was an active-duty soldier,” An Rusong continued. “If he had known, this matter wouldn’t have been so easily resolved. Although he has backed down now, he certainly won’t let it go. And he can find out about my military service with just a little investigation when he gets back.”

"He can still cause you trouble?" Lin Ya'en asked, frowning.

“He wouldn’t cause me any trouble,” An Rusong said, shaking his head. “I have no grudge against him. If he’s a smart man, he wouldn’t be so reckless as to provoke me.”

Before Zheng Junnan left, An Rusong's advice wasn't just meant to intimidate him; he genuinely offered advice. He was clearly telling Zheng Junnan that they weren't enemies who needed to fight to the death, and that Zheng Junnan's feud with Zheng Shizhi had nothing to do with him. Therefore, he advised Zheng Junnan not to cause him any trouble after learning about his military service.

They can be friends; there's no need for them to be enemies.

“However, the fact that he doesn’t bother me doesn’t mean he won’t bother you, or rather, it doesn’t mean he won’t bother the project you’re working on,” An Rusong continued. “You should know that it wouldn’t be difficult for Zheng Junnan to learn about the ‘Military Home’ project, and since Zheng Shizhi is involved in this project, he naturally won’t let the opportunity pass him by.”

Lin Ya'en bit her lip. She knew An Rusong was right. After tonight's encounter, Zheng Junnan would probably keep an eye on the "Military Home" project. Even if he couldn't find anything, having a military prosecutor watching the project would make her hesitant and timid in some situations.

"What should we do then?" After hesitating for a moment, she blinked and asked.

An Rusong looked at her, then suddenly raised his hand and beckoned to her with his finger.

Lin Ya'en understood what he meant, so she leaned her upper body closer and put her ear to his mouth.

An Rusong bit her ear and whispered something.

Lin Ya'en bit her lip as she listened to him finish, her charming eyes seeming to well up with tears. She reached out and pinched An Rusong's leg, playfully scolding, "You really are..."

After her initial anger subsided, a seductive glint appeared in her eyes, and she changed the subject, saying, "Even though he's your superior, you never got to decide what to do with him."

“Haha,” An Rusong laughed heartily, stood up from the sofa, casually tossed the half-smoked cigarette into a wine glass, and as he pulled his hand back, he pinched Lin Ya’en’s cheek and said, “Then what are we talking about? Let’s go.”
