Chapter 314: The mind is always pure and quiet like the Great Dao, the state of the mind is called Taichu

In the desolate wilderness, a gurgling stream flows.

This water is not that big, you can call it a big stream or a small river.

On the riverbank, two saints were discussing Taoism. Seeing this, Zhou Cheng raised his hand and made a gesture. Suddenly, the place was full of vitality. Grass and trees grew, vines intertwined, and a reed canopy provided shade, making it a place for them to discuss Taoism.

The so-called ability of the Green Emperor is that of making a flower bloom in an instant.

"You are a Taoist master. We have been disrespectful to him before. We should be punished for our crimes!"

"The gentleman was before us, and we were too blind to recognize him. Please forgive me."

The seventy-two wise men who followed Confucius were stunned. They did not expect that the young gentleman who followed Laozi could be as capable as the Green Emperor. They all became serious at once, recalling their previous contempt, and quickly confessed their guilt to Zhou Chengdao.

"Thank you for your help, sir." Confucius showed no sign of worrying, he just bowed to Zhou Cheng to express his gratitude.

After saying this, Confucius looked at his followers and said, "You can't judge a person by his appearance. How can we judge whether a person is virtuous or not by his appearance? You two are arrogant at first but respectful later, which makes people laugh. You should remember that a gentleman treats everyone equally."

It is said that Xuanfu was still afraid of the younger generation, which is roughly the same.

"Disciple will remember this." The seventy-two sages bowed quickly.

Laojun looked at this scene, nodded, stroked his beard and said: "Good, your teaching and enlightenment are great merits."

Confucius heard this and quickly responded, "I don't deserve your praise, but I would like to ask you, what you said before, that the right path is under our feet, is it true that the right path exists in all things in heaven and earth?"

Laozi showed his approval: "This is exactly the principle. The Great Way is invisible, giving birth to the heaven and earth; the Great Way is emotionless, moving the sun and the moon; the Great Way is nameless, nourishing all things; I do not know its name, so I call it the Way."

Confucius pondered for a moment and asked again: "Few people have heard of the Way, and few have virtue. I would like to ask why this is so, elder?"

Laozi laughed loudly, and then said: "It is just as the saying goes: the human spirit likes to be clear, but the heart disturbs it; the human heart likes to be quiet, but desire pulls it. The two spirits of consciousness and desire are entangled in the body because the heart is not clear and the desire is not let go. Therefore, the Tao is invisible."

"The reason why sentient beings cannot obtain the true path is because they have a false mind. Once they have a false mind, their spirit is disturbed. Once their spirit is disturbed, they become attached to all things. Once they become attached to all things, they develop greed and desire. Once greed and desire arise, they become troubled."

"Troubled thoughts and delusions cause the body and mind to suffer. Then one will suffer humiliation and wander in the cycle of life and death. One will always sink into the sea of suffering and lose the true path forever. The true and constant path is attained by those who understand it."

"The true and constant way is to always be quiet and peaceful. Only when you are so pure can you hear the way."

Laojun's voice is not loud, and his meaning is not great. It has only ordinary rhythm and pure meaning.

Zhou Cheng, who was listening quietly nearby, had his eyes half closed, and his eyes were in a trance, as if a flash of inspiration had passed through him, and as if a bright, round vision was blooming in his heart, shining with golden light.

Laojun was answering Confucius' questions, but he was also speaking to Zhou Cheng.

The meaning of this scripture has been passed down through the ages and shines throughout the heavens. How could Zhou Cheng not have seen or heard of it?

But what I have seen before can never compare with what Laojun said in person.

At this moment, Zhou Cheng seemed to have an illusion, as if he was two or three years old and an old man was whispering to him, telling him what one and two were, what parents were, and what heaven and earth were.

Zhou Cheng was in deep thought, and Confucius was also trying to figure out what Lao Tzu had said.

Suddenly, screams rang out.

"The Golden Light Divine Appearance is the leader of the ten thousand Appearances of Chudi Taiyi!"

"This... could it be that he has realized the true path and become a god?"

The eyes of the seventy-two sages all fell on Zhou Cheng. A brilliant golden light covered his body, and then it rose up into the sky, directly hitting the Douniu, illuminating the heavens and reflecting the magnificent scenery of the Heavenly Palace.

In an instant, the clouds were startled and the emperor appeared in the sky.

"Who is this powerful person from the lower world who is showing off his magical powers here?" The majestic heavenly voice echoed in the Lingxiao Palace.

"I don't know."

The Emperor of Heaven is so majestic that he orders Thousand-Li Eyes and Wind-Hearing Ears to open the South Gate of Heaven to observe all the heavens and the world.

Soon, the two gods returned to the palace to report: "Your Highness, we have been ordered to observe the golden light and saw the saints of humanity and heaven discussing the Dao. A virtuous man heard it and suddenly gained enlightenment. The light shone through the nine heavens and covered all the heavens!"

The emperor heard this and laughed, "Good!"

When the immortals and gods saw this, they were also delighted. They all looked around and said: A powerful person will appear, which is a great creation of the world and the heavens.

……

"This is what I have heard, not what I have heard of. You two are so unruly, you are not worthy of being gentlemen!"

Confucius once again taught the seventy-two sages. After hearing his words, all of them felt extremely guilty and confessed their sins.

Laojun smiled and said: "My little friend is so smart that he can understand things at once. Compared with him, immortals and gods are just dust. You should respect him. He is not a supernatural being."

Confucius also nodded in agreement, and then stood up to greet him: "This time, thank you for clearing up my doubts. When a gentleman is at the moment of enlightenment, we dare not disturb him with our noise."

Hearing the teacher say this, the wise men also bowed, and then walked away under the gaze of Laojun, continuing to go towards Zhouyi, wanting to learn the Zhou rituals.

At this time, the brilliant golden light faded away, the brilliant vision dissipated, and Zhou Cheng also opened his eyes.

"My dear friend, do you know what five people are now?"

Zhou Cheng smiled and said, "It is the god of the five internal organs. I have known this for a long time. But because the original spirit is unclear, it is blocked by the two gods of consciousness and desire. It is like a leaf blocking the view of the mountain."

As the saying goes, you search for him among the crowd for hundreds of times, and when you turn around, you will find him standing in the dimly lit place.

Some things are right in the most conspicuous places, illuminated by the light in the darkness, but they cannot be found or seen.

This is not so much "blindness", but the obstruction of your thoughts and desires, which makes you unable to remember or recall.

Laojun had said before that after losing the supreme Wuji Dao fruit and reviving the two gods of consciousness and desire, he directly told Zhou Cheng what the five people were, but Zhou Cheng turned around and forgot about it.

Similar situations are more common for mortals.

Almost everyone has experienced opening their mouth to speak, but suddenly forgetting what they wanted to say.

This is especially true when you are more impatient and nervous.

This is the work of the two gods of consciousness and desire.

Only by subduing the two gods of consciousness and desire can one achieve a pure mind.

However, the two gods of consciousness and desire are difficult to get rid of. The only way is to subdue the five gods first. With the five gods protecting the original spirit, the two gods of consciousness and desire can be eliminated. It will be as easy as taking something from a bag or looking at the lines on the palm of your hand.

"The so-called monkey in the heart is unruly, arrogant, vain, and impatient. It is the most difficult to subdue among the five. My friend, you should subdue the monkey in the heart first."

"The inner alchemy path is full of disasters at every step and calamities everywhere. Only when you can overcome it yourself can you gain great magical power. My friend already has profound magical power and amazing supernatural powers. You only need to cultivate your mind, so you can borrow external forces. I have a bucket of water here, you drink it, it will protect you."

Laojun’s meaning is also very clear.

Zhou Cheng's magical powers are already extremely strong, so it doesn't matter whether his magic power increases or not.

Zhou Cheng lost his realm and Dao fruit, but did not lose his own memory. He mastered all kinds of supernatural powers and the mysteries of the Dao.

Cultivate the life of the celestial being, cultivate the nature of the immortal, the immortal true person, the Hunyuan Dao Fruit, and the Wuji Dao Fruit.

The five major levels are the path of spiritual practice, but they are not a division of supernatural powers.

Generally speaking, the higher the self-esteem, the stronger it is. This is also common sense.

But there are also people who only cultivate their life but not their nature, and whose supernatural powers astonish the world.

This is even more true for Zhou Cheng. His magic power reflects all great principles and has mysterious roots. In the blink of an eye, he can overturn the heaven and earth and destroy the universe. He doesn't need to cultivate any magic power at all.

"Thank you, Mr. Boyang."

Zhou Cheng took the water scoop and drank it all. He felt his mind was clear, his true spirit was pure, and his weak soul had a little more vitality. The so-called soul in the Golden Elixir Orthodox Dao is not the soul, but the heart of Tao.

A strong heart of Tao does not mean a strong spirit. Only when the heart of Tao is pure can the spirit be flawless.

Zhou Cheng sat on the ground, focused his body and mind, and sensed where his heart was.

But in just a breath, Zhou Cheng seemed to enter a state of ecstasy.

I don't know how much time had passed, but suddenly I heard whispers echoing in my ears.

"What the hell is asking for the Golden Elixir? How can it help you achieve transcendence? You still have to die. What if you can't be revived?"

"That's right, that's exactly the truth. If you ask me, the safest way is to learn from the Lord God."

"Yes, we are friends with a group of big guys in the Transcendental Realm. Anyway, everything in the [Existing] Realm is just randomly modified data information. Let's have a good talk with them and let them swallow everything for us, and then they can reflect it."

"That makes sense. For the realm of transcendence, even if we swallow all these random modifications and reflections and become transcendental and then reflect them, the lives in the realm of existence will not feel anything."

"That's right. In this way, we don't have to die. Guixu wants to kill all existence. Even if there are beings beyond the realm, they can't help us. What if they really die?"

"Yes, that's right. I don't want to die. Yu Yun is such a contrast. She is so cold and aloof, but as long as I suppress my cultivation and pinch my vital points, she will beg for mercy immediately..."

"Tai Weihua's legs are amazing, and the two of them are playing with the same fate, it's really fun, hehehe..."

"It's not enough to just have two people. It would be fun to reflect all the stunning beauties in the heavens and the myriad worlds and make a life contract with them."

“Hiss, what you said makes sense, but that damn soul is not deeply influenced by us. If He doesn’t play like this, we won’t be happy!”

All kinds of thoughts were echoing, which were blocked by the two gods of consciousness and desire, and also the dark side of Zhou Cheng's mind.

First came the desire for life and death, then the desire for truth, and then the lust... and so on. All kinds of emotions and desires are disturbing the mind.

All these thoughts are Zhou Cheng's own desires, resonating with his mind and causing his heart to start to go crazy.

For a moment, Huang Huang's heart was burning with anger, as if to burn Zhou Cheng to ashes in an instant.

The fire in the heart burns the body, which is the disaster of the monkey mind.

The stronger the magic power, the stronger the power of the heart fire.

This means only cultivating life without cultivating nature, which is the source of the first problem in spiritual practice.

With Zhou Cheng's tremendous magical power and ignited the fire in his heart, not to mention Zhou Cheng himself, even the gods, saints, and Hunyuan Wuji would be reduced to ashes at this moment.

That is the Dao fire of the heavens, a Dao fire that has the power to burn all kinds of Daos and incinerate endless rules.

So for Zhou Cheng, this process is no different from suicide. Only a transcendent existence can prevent one from dying even if one wants to.

At this moment when his heart was burning with fire, cool water began to flow, spreading into his internal organs, sinking into his limbs and bones, extinguishing everything and calming the burning magic power.

Only after you have gone through the hardship of burning heart fire can you see the monkey in your heart.

Although the Heart Monkey is called the Heart Monkey, it is not actually a monkey. It is just that its mood is fluctuating and chaotic, like a mad monkey, excited and burning with anger, causing endless harm.

Different people have different personalities and wills, and their inner natures are naturally different.

Zhou Cheng's soul entered the heart palace and finally saw his own inner monkey.

It was a tiny glimmer of light, as if it existed and yet as if it didn't exist.

In other words, it is not as if, but it both exists and does not exist.

Described using concepts from the physical side, that is a superposition state of existence and non-existence, which, as Zhou Cheng saw, will collapse into the state of 'existence'.

After all, the true nothingness does not exist, and sentient beings cannot be without a monkey mind. Unless one cultivates the path of indifference and cuts oneself off from sentient beings.

The path of ruthlessness is not the same as forgetting emotions; it is just a wrong path that even Tai Shi could not achieve.

As the saying goes, the Tao is ruthless. The moment a ruthless Taoist realizes Tai Shi, he will naturally transform into the Tao and return to Tai Shi.

"My mind monkey is actually the original existence, the absolute nothingness."

Zhou Cheng thought to himself, as expected, it is just as he had guessed.

The more you pursue something, the more your heart becomes.

"You evil creature, why don't you turn back to the right path?" Zhou Chengsong the mantra.

To subdue the monkey, you have to use violence.

A rebellious and manic heart can only be pacified when facing a dimensionality reduction attack. This is called "tightening the reins to subdue the heart."

Zhou Chengdao is well versed in the mysteries of Taoism. He understands all the ways and has all kinds of magical powers at his fingertips. He has plenty of violent means at his disposal, including some to subdue the monkey's mind.

If one is an ordinary practitioner, he still has to ask his elders to teach him a method to control the monkey in his palm, or a spell, or a magical power, and so on.

There is nothing that can defeat the absolute, and all kinds of Taoist methods are powerless.

The only thing that can hurt is absolute nothingness, but it can be sacrificed alive and turned into nothingness.

Zhou Cheng had never seen absolute nothingness, but this was in his own heart, and he could get whatever he wanted.

"Pong!"

[Nothing] Fire rises, like a sea of heart fire, spreading over the heart, and it seems as if a heart fire sun rises, instantly bringing down the heart monkey.

……

Among the reeds by the river.

When Zhou Cheng opened his eyes, he saw Laojun cooking.

I don’t know where Laojun got the rice from, but there was none in this era, so he was cooking a pot of porridge.

"Congratulations, my friend, you got to see a glimpse of the [Taichu Phase] in advance."

Laojun handed over a clay bowl and looked at Zhou Cheng with a smile.

Zhou Cheng took it with both hands, and then responded modestly: "Mr. Boyang, you are too kind. This Taichu phase is just what I imagined in my mind. How can it be the real Taichu?"

As he spoke, a glimmer of light appeared beside Zhou Cheng.

Now that I have captured the inner monkey, I can naturally control him to fight the enemy.

The stronger the monkey heart is, the harder it is to tame it, but once it is tamed, its magical powers will naturally become stronger.

Zhou Cheng didn't think that his practice of cultivating the Golden Elixir would increase his magical powers, but in fact, he did increase them a lot.

For example, this ray of primordial light, in Zhou Cheng's hands, could easily kill himself who had previously sacrificed infinitely to the Dao fruit.

This is a gap in level.

"Taichu is everything. Whatever you think in your heart is right. How can it not be the real Taichu?"

Laojun took a mouthful of porridge and smacked his lips to savor the taste before continuing, "Although the Heart Monkey has been tamed, before refining the golden elixir, we must prevent the Heart Monkey from getting violent, so as to prevent it from breaking free from its shackles and letting its demons run wild again. The same method will not work on the Heart Monkey a second time."

This was also Laojun's warning to Zhou Cheng. If it was any other monkey mind form, it would be fine.

Zhou Cheng's inner monkey is in the primordial state, and can only be tamed by turning it into nothingness.

If Zhou Cheng lets the monkey go this time, he won't be able to evolve the [Fire of Nothingness] in his heart palace and will never be able to tame it again.
