Chapter 65 The Bear Under the Moonlight
Caesar's time alone did not last long before Slok broke it up again.

The silly bear acted as if nothing had happened, still shamelessly lying next to him.

Caesar was numb, staring wide-eyed at the pile of stones before him, when he heard Slok mutter a complaint:
"I don't know what happened to Xiaohe, she left after playing with me for a short time."

The male bear scoffed lightly:
"I guess it's because they think you're too stupid, and they're afraid that hanging out with you will make them stupid too."

Slok was very dissatisfied with this answer! He retorted defiantly:
"Who said that? Of all the polar bears, you're the only one who thinks I'm stupid!"

Caesar twitched his lips speechlessly, feeling that this stupid bear was completely unaware of his own position.

However, Slok soon found out what the little river had been doing, and the next day he received half a reindeer calf!

Xiaohe stammered beside him:

"I'm sorry... about your nose..."

Slok was somewhat surprised:
Is this an apology?

An apology more than two years later?!
Xiaohe was silent for a moment, then whispered:
"Correct."

Then, seemingly embarrassed, he hurriedly left.

Slok was very pleased with the gift he received. He lay on the rock and savored the delicious meal. The reindeer calf's tender meat was exceptionally delicious. He invited Caesar to join him in the feast.

Caesar scoffed at this:

"It's just a reindeer calf. Haven't you ever caught one yourself, or have you not eaten enough from me?"

He paused and then added:
"It's worthless."

Slok strongly disagreed with this:

“This is different. Little River is still a very young bear. He hasn’t been separated from his mother for long.”

Reindeer are a very difficult prey for polar bears. Caesar's hunting skills are beyond doubt, while Slok's skills were forced upon him because he had been forced to develop them due to the fact that other bears had stolen too much of his prey in the past.

Although he was not a fighting bear, he was very good at hunting.

However, he now prefers to get food from Caesar, which gives him a greater sense of accomplishment than catching prey himself!

Caesar showed extreme incomprehension and impatience towards him.

Watching Slok eat with such relish, his good mood practically overflowing, Caesar observed for a long time before hesitatingly saying:
"It's just half a reindeer calf, is it really necessary to get so excited?"

Slok chewed the meat in his mouth and muttered:

"Of course I'm happy. Reindeer are very difficult to catch, and this is the best compensation I could receive."

Caesar's attention was focused on the word "apology".

Slok glanced at him and said to himself:

"Ah, the more difficult and rarer the prey is to capture, the more it proves sincerity. It can not only be used as an apology, but also as a way to reconcile with friends!"

Caesar listened without moving or showing any reaction, and Slok was in no hurry to say anything more, quietly enjoying the prey brought by the river.

Time passed slowly, so much so that Slok was about to think that Caesar hadn't heard a word he was saying, when Caesar suddenly stood up and slowly walked toward the sea.

Slok quickly dragged the remaining meat to his feet and followed after him.

The two bears eventually reached the seaside. This place was special; the seawater was warm, and most importantly…

"You want to hunt beluga whales?!" Slok was quite surprised. In the summer, there are many beluga whales in the Arctic, which come from all over the world to mate and give birth in this area.

In the past, polar bears did indeed hunt them; whale blubber was also a favorite food of polar bears.
However, beluga whales are very intelligent, and due to climate change, it is becoming increasingly difficult to catch them.

Caesar lowered his head, staring intently at the azure sea for a long time, then suddenly raised his claws and swam towards a rock submerged in the water.

The reef had just been submerged by the sea, but the bear could still stand on it.

Caesar climbed onto the rock, shook off the water, and waited patiently with his head down.

Beluga whales typically travel in groups, and the best opportunity is when the pods swim by!

……

Exhausted, Guo Mi lay down on a rock to rest, next to her the fox she and the two bear cubs had been trying to catch all day.
—There was only one pitiful one.

She and the bear have been staying here every day for the past two days, and the fox has become clever and has figured out how to avoid their pursuit.

Foxes can easily navigate these crevices in the boulders, but bears struggle, at most only managing to stick a paw into the crevice.

The two bear cubs were so hungry that they looked pale and thin, their bellies were shriveled and they were listless.

Guo Mi finally realized that her choice of this place could allow the bear cubs to survive, but not to thrive, especially during their growth period, as insufficient food could affect their adult size.

Moreover, geese lay a limited number of eggs, and once all the goslings have jumped off the cliff, there won't be so many foxes gathering below anymore.

Staying in this place is not a long-term solution; she needs to find more ways to obtain food.

Another annoying buzzing sound came from her ears. After a while, the sound stopped, and Guo Mi opened her eyes to find a mosquito perched on her nose!
A surge of anger welled up inside her, and she raised her paw and smacked herself hard on the nose!
The result was that I killed the mosquitoes, but my nose was sore and sore from swatting them!

Guo Mi is about to collapse. The polar day has lasted for so many days, and the mosquitoes are multiplying like crazy.

Before arriving in the Arctic, she never imagined that there would be swarms of mosquitoes in such a cold place during the summer!
Especially at dusk, swarms of mosquitoes would gather together and hover in the air. Looking up, you could see countless black dots, and the buzzing sound of their wings made Guo Mi's scalp tingle!

Guo Mi originally thought that these mosquitoes would have a hard time penetrating her thick fur, but she has been bitten so badly these past few nights that she hasn't been able to sleep well for several nights in a row due to the endless buzzing!
Especially since these disgusting insects seemed to find her fur troublesome, they simply set their sights on her nose!
It is really unbearable and unbearable!
There are also many mosquitoes in the forest in summer. When Guo Mi was in the forest, she saw many of her kind not only stealing honey but also eating insects. At that time, she wondered if they could even eat mosquitoes.

But she was clearly overthinking it.

Brown bears are omnivores, but they don't eat everything. In other words, anything that even bears won't eat must be the most disgusting thing in the world!
After swatting another mosquito, Guo Mi finally broke down!

She rolled over, waving and tumbling her four paws in the air, trying to scare away the mosquitoes.

The effect was remarkable, but short-lived; soon the fearless insects gathered again.

The constant chirping of insects and the hunger in her stomach made Guo Mi want to howl to the heavens!

Just then, a fresh and rich aroma suddenly wafted into my nose—the smell of fat and meat!
Guo Mi's eyes lit up, and she couldn't resist climbing out of the cave.

Caesar stood on the rock in the sunlight, the sunlight reflecting off his white hair, as if he were being plated with a layer of silver light.

The male bear had some unidentifiable prey lying at its feet. Its nose twitched as if it were sniffing something. When it saw Guo Mi, its eyes lit up, but it hesitated for a moment before finally raising its paw and walking towards Guo Mi.

Fun Fact:

The outer fur of a polar bear is not actually white; it is transparent. It only appears white because it reflects light.

Also, polar bears do indeed hunt beluga whales, but unfortunately I can only post pictures, not videos. Those who are interested can search for it themselves; it's quite interesting.
