Chapter 193 Slok is a better bear than him

Silence, a deathly silence, a prolonged silence.

The salmon stood rooted to the spot, braving the biting wind, unable to look away from Caesar's expectant yet subtly threatening gaze. After a long pause, it finally managed to say with difficulty:

"You are indeed the kind of male bear that female bears like..."

"but!"

However, Caesar was blinded by the first answer. The bear became radiant, and even its flowing fur seemed to have a different kind of luster. Excitedly, it turned around and stuck its head back into the hole, beginning to wriggle its body and struggle to burrow deeper.

The little bear's voice, barely audible and carried away by the cold wind, was uttered by the tyrannical power.

"You might not be the kind of male bear that Guo Mi likes..."

Watching Caesar retract his last exposed hind leg into the hole, Fishbone lowered his voice:
"Forget it."

The salmon remained silent, its tender little eyes filled with a sense of vicissitude.
"I was planning to do it anyway, without you having to tell me."

Caesar only wanted to hear what he wanted to hear. If he wanted to hear something he didn't want to hear, he either had to be prepared to die or resort to violence to force him to compromise.

It is clear that they do not have the ability to make such choices.

The salmon let out a long sigh:

"Male bears are really hard to communicate with—"

Caesar is a typical male bear, but unfortunately, Guo Mi doesn't seem to need such a "normal" bear as her mate. If he wants to get what he wants, he may need to change his domineering and unreasonable ways.

But can he really do it?
The salmon was deep in thought when suddenly it remembered something, turned its head and asked the little bear sitting next to it:

Will you end up like them in the future?

Fishbone rejected the idea without even thinking:

"will not!"

He thought for a moment and answered seriously:
"I want to be a bear like Slok!"

The salmon was surprised by the answer. When it was very young, the fishbone had said something similar, but it never expected that this wish would continue to this day.

She raised her paw and touched her ear, then hesitated and said:
"But Slok is very timid, and within the polar bear group, well, he's quite controversial..."

People dared not do anything too outrageous to Sloch because of Caesar's power, but many bears actually considered him an outcast.

"But we all like him. Do you also think he's a freak among polar bears?"

Fishbone tilted his head and asked.

The salmon immediately denied it:
"Of course not! He's a very good bear!"

Fishbone showed an expression of agreement:
"Everyone says he's timid and not brave, but choosing to be such a different kind of bear is also a kind of courage, isn't it? He just used his courage in a way that's different from ours."

The salmon was completely convinced.

Fishbone pondered for a moment, then muttered an additional sentence:
"However, I also want to protect you, protect Guo Mi, and protect Slok."

This made the salmon laugh, and she encouraged him:

"Then you must work hard and become another 'unique' male bear in this Arctic!"

"Ok!"

……

Caesar lay down beside Gomi, lifted the eyelid of one of his eyes, glanced at the cave entrance, and then closed it again.

The two little ones' words drifted into the cave, their voices soft yet clear enough.

Caesar had to realize that in the eyes of these two little cubs, he was not even as good as Slok, and not even a "good bear"!
The male bear chuckled, wriggling irritably and kicking his four paws under his belly, dismissing the salmon and fish bones' words.

He wasn't about to care about the two cubs' likes or dislikes. Guo Mi's long, even breathing echoed in the cave. They were so close that Caesar could even feel the rise and fall of her abdomen with each breath. Her warm body heat seeped through her fur and flowed steadily into him.

Even though they had slept together before, Caesar still found it novel.

He stretched out a paw and placed it on Guo Mi's soft belly.

Suddenly remembering that its paws were quite heavy, it quickly lifted them up again, but only placed the paw pads lightly on top.

Just feeling that slight undulation, Caesar felt an indescribable joy, and his mind inexplicably recalled the blooming flowers in the bushes during the summer.

The soft petals grow freely in the sunlight, their fragrance wafting gently. But if you try to get close enough to smell them, you'll immediately be pricked by the thorns covering them.

—A sharp kind of beauty.

Caesar shook his head from side to side, trying to shake off those inexplicable and strange thoughts, but then he remembered that Guo Mi seemed to really like those flowers.

In the summer, she picked a lot of flowers and, after drying them in the sun, patiently placed them one by one into the hole where she slept.

On several occasions, he saw one or two dried, unidentified flowers mixed in with her fluffy hair.

It wasn't pure white; its fur had a reddish sheen, a color unique to the earth, that only appears in summer.

He looked up and peered out of the cave entrance. In the extremely dim light, there was only pale snow, withered branches and leaves, and bare stones.

Those vibrant flowers and plants have long since withered.

Caesar lowered his head to Guo Mi's face, feeling the warm breath from her nose, and couldn't help but wonder if it was because those lush, vibrant colors were asleep in the white of winter that she had fallen asleep with them.

This idea made him happy.

Because that would make him think that Guo Mi was just indulging in summer, not...

I rejected him.

However, such thoughts can only exist in wishful thinking, and will soon be awakened by the north wind.

Anger flashed in Caesar's brown eyes. He opened his mouth and took Guo Mi's round ear into his mouth. His teeth touched the elastic auricle, but he didn't have the heart to really use force, not even leaving a shallow tooth mark.

He released his mouth, nudged Guo Mi's cheek with his nose, and asked in a low, aggrieved voice:

"Why can't you choose me?"

His once arrogant confidence, like a snowdrift in a storm, has been blown thin and fragile, leaving him filled with resentment as he asks the sleeping Guo Mi question after question:

"Your little cub says I'm strong, handsome, and a male bear that female bears like!"

...but not a good bear.

The little brat prefers Slok to him.

Slok is a better bear than him.

Caesar blinked, a hint of resistance in his eyes, and turned his head away angrily. A second or two later, he turned back and asked:
"You like bears like Slok too?!"

However, Guo Mi did not wake up to give him an answer.

Caesar placed his paw on Guo Mi's belly again, but this time, he didn't feel the same joy and wonder as before; instead, he only felt a sour taste.

Maybe in a couple of days, a little bear that's smaller than his paw will pop up.

In truth, he has no desire to reproduce. Whether it is his cub or not, they are essentially just polar bear cubs, and there is no difference.

The little cubs weren't exactly a delicious treat that was hard to give up. He had already let go of the two cubs outside the cave, so he might as well let go of the one that was about to be born just to avoid provoking Guo Mi's anger.

But that was proof that Guo Mi resisted him and didn't like him.

Therefore, it was difficult for Caesar to be tolerant and merciful towards such a little brat.

He began to consider the possibility of eating the newborn cub while Guo Mi was asleep and then pretending nothing had happened.
