Chapter 174 Seals
Guo Mi suddenly appeared not far away, even dramatically shaking her fur, and then charged straight at the seal!

She made no attempt to conceal her presence; her fur, billowing as she ran, shone in the rare winter sunlight, making her look from afar like a large, white, glowing red ball of fur bouncing on the ice floes.

Slok's mouth gaped open, and after a moment of stunned silence, he asked Caesar in astonishment:
"What? She's planning to catch seals like this?"

With such a commotion, by the time you get there, you probably won't even be able to lick up a single drop of the seawater splashed up by the seals as they escape back into the sea.

Caesar remained silent, simply watching Gomi run and play happily on the ice floes.

Guo Mi was not a reckless and simple-minded bear. Since she had been on the ice floe for so long, she must have already encountered setbacks. She would not keep making futile attempts.

Thinking of this, the deep pool of darkness in Caesar's eyes, which had been dormant for a long time, was stirred, and he began to feel a faint sense of anticipation.

He knew that Guo Mi would soon show him something different!
Sure enough, the noise and tremors caused by the giant furball running had already disturbed the resting seals.

With a regretful sigh from Slok, the plump seal, as if it had practiced tens of thousands of times, twisted its body and then disappeared into its blowhole!
Guo Mi immediately stopped running and began to walk slowly.

Slok thought she gave up because she saw the seal escape, and whispered:

"Poor Guo Mi, her mother must not have taught her how to catch seals on the ice properly."

As he spoke, he remembered Guo Mi's terrible swimming skills, sighed heavily again, and began to mentally criticize that non-existent, extremely irresponsible mother bear, then muttered:
"Guo Mi is so pitiful."

Caesar listened without showing any emotion, his eyes twitching slightly, and he thought to himself:
I'm afraid that Guo Mi's mother not only didn't teach her how to catch seals, but she didn't even teach her how to survive in the Arctic.

His gaze swept over Guo Mi's round figure, so different from his own, his face full of meaning.

A series of panicked screams from the seals interrupted the two male bears' thoughts!

Slok looked around, his eyes searching everywhere, and said in surprise:
"There are seals too?! Where are they?!"

Caesar, however, had already looked toward Gomi.

Guo Mi had already walked to the ventilation hole where the seal had escaped. She stuck her head out and peered into the hole, and the seal's cries for help instantly became several times louder!
Slok finally found the source of the sound, and then saw Guo Mi lower her center of gravity and exert force with her four paws, as if she was dragging something outward!
As the seal's calls grew clearer and louder, a familiar, cone-shaped black tail was pulled out of the hole first, followed by a plump body.

Slok's eyes widened, and he cried out in surprise:
"How did you do it?!"

Guo Mi had already dragged the seal completely out of the ice cave!

The seal, its tail caught in the bite, thrashed its flippers against the ice, struggling to move forward, but it couldn't stop itself from being dragged further and further away from the air vent.

It bent its body and looked sadly at Guo Mi with its eyes, which were like black glass balls.

Seals have very peculiar calls. When they're happy, they make a sound similar to "ah wah wah," while when they're startled, they make an even stranger sound, like... a rather muffled duck quack.
Guo Mi bit down hard on the seal's tail in her mouth and dragged it further away, eliminating any possibility of its escape.

The strange cry in her ear suddenly stopped. She raised her eyes and met a pair of eyes that seemed to be brimming with tears!
This wasn't the first time she'd caught seals; they struggled and screamed until their very last breath, clinging to life.

This is the first time a seal has stopped struggling.

At this point, the seal stopped wriggling and simply bent over, letting itself be dragged away, its dark eyes fixed on Guo Mi.

It seemed resigned to its fate, its eyes filled with sorrow. Guo Mi's heart skipped a beat, but she did not stop what she was doing.

She had seen that look in her eyes many times before, and her previous inability to accept it and her wavering mentality had long since disappeared.

She knew very well that one day she might also have that look in her eyes, but for now, she was working hard to delay that day from coming.

Every living being strives for this.

Once they were certain they had reached a place where the seal had no chance of escape, Guo Mi released its grip.

The seal lay quietly on the ice, not looking at Guo Mi again, but tilting its head back.

Perhaps they are looking at that vast expanse of ice and snow, or perhaps at that now difficult-to-see, correct vent that allows them to return to the sea.

Guo Mi guessed, but did not go forward to look at those eyes again to confirm.

She simply sat to the side and waited.

Even the two male bears, still in shock in the distance, couldn't help but feel puzzled. Slok tilted his head and asked in confusion:
"Isn't Guo Mi going to kill that seal? Or is she actually not that hungry?"

Caesar remained silent.

Who knows? Maybe she's lost in some kind of confusion again, or maybe she just suddenly wants to sit quietly for a while.

Even the little bears waiting not far away peeked out from the left and right, silently watching Guo Mi.

At this moment, all the bears here are speculating.

Guo Mi didn't let the silence last long. She stood up and walked towards the seal. Her bear paw landed beside the seal, and she was about to lower her head.

The seal, which had been lying quietly on the ice, suddenly began to struggle again, its eyes flashing with terror!
The sound like a duck's quack rang out again!
It still fears death and cannot suppress its desire to survive!
It wants to live!!!
Guo Mi stretched out her paw and held it down, then lowered her head and took the seal's head into her mouth, followed by a crisp snap—

The struggling seal twitched one last time, then collapsed onto the ice as if all its strength had been drained.

It was a very successful hunt. Guo Mi turned her head and looked in the direction of the bear cub.

The two bear cubs received the signal and happily ran towards Guo Mi, ready to enjoy this feast!
Guo Mi helped the little bear tear off the hardest part of the skin, then moved aside. The little bears, as if on cue, chose their own parts, and then, as if on cue, left Guo Mi's share, without any fighting.

The seal's innards, still steaming, were shrouded in a thin white mist, looking incredibly tender and delicious.

In comparison, the frozen seal meat that Caesar brought was not so appealing.

Looking at the little bear eating meat with gusto, its fur was neat, soft, clean, and glossy. It didn't look hungry at all, and it was clear that Guo Mi had raised it very well.

Even Guo Mi, with her smooth fur, looked even a little fatter than when we last met.

Slok sighed inwardly, realizing he had been too presumptuous.

Gomi has her own way of hunting seals and has also stolen so much of the bears' prey. She might be living a much better life than him and Caesar!
His sympathetic gaze fell on Caesar; it seemed the plan to bribe Gomi with her prey was going to fail.
