Chapter 145 The Gloomy Bear
Chapter 145 The Gloomy Bear
The wolf pack suffered heavy losses this time, but the appearance of the two male bears completely eliminated the possibility of the wolf pack attacking again.
No matter how much hatred the white wolf harbors, it must consider the sake of the pack, provided, of course, that it can still remain the alpha wolf.
Given its severe injuries, it's perfectly normal for other wolves to usurp its position. If the new wolf king were more ruthless, he might simply expel it from the pack.
In the end, only death awaits it.
Recalling the look in the white wolf's eyes at the last moment, Guo Mi felt inexplicably heavy-hearted.
Summer would never travel with Caesar; she would always stay away from him whenever he appeared.
Caesar had finally caught up, and he certainly wouldn't leave just because of a mother bear.
Looking at the serious-looking male bear sitting calmly to the side, Guo Mi couldn't help but feel resentful.
Summer was, strictly speaking, the first friend she made after transforming into a bear. They were like good friends in the human world, able to chat and hunt together.
Compared to such an annoying male bear as Caesar, she naturally wanted to be with her best friend.
Caesar was completely unaware that he had been thoroughly disliked from head to toe. He simply stared intently at Guo Mi, and the aura emanating from him was anything but friendly.
Guo Mi was puzzled by his stare, and after confirming several times that he was staring at her and not Slok, she was even less inclined to talk to him.
"Guo Mi, your ears!"
Slok exclaimed in surprise from the side.
In the chaos just now, he didn't even notice the new notch in Guo Mi's ear, and his eyes involuntarily glanced at Caesar.
If he remembered correctly, when they were arguing about whether Guo Mi was a beautiful bear, Caesar pulled her ears several times.
Sure enough, the already gloomy bear became even more so when he saw Guo Mi's round ear with a missing corner.
Slok quietly took two steps back. He had a feeling that Caesar was angry, but it didn't seem to be directed at the wolves.
Guo Mi only remembered the crisp sound of bones being bitten through when she heard Slok's words.
It's better not to mention it, because the moment you do, that sharp pain shoots up from the top of your head. Especially when the cold wind blows on the cross-section of the wound, the cold and numb feeling is really unbearable.
Most importantly, she really did become a bear with one ear missing!
Guo Mi gasped and instinctively raised her paw to touch it, but she didn't control her strength well. The wound, which had only been throbbing, immediately turned into a tearing pain, just like when she was first injured.
Just as tears were about to well up in her eyes, the giant furball pounced on the ground, its paws covering its head.
The thought of her ear, which she had managed to save from Caesar's jaws, now being bitten off by wolves filled Guo Mi with an overwhelming sadness.
The little bears looked at her with concern. They knew Guo Mi best and of course knew what she was thinking.
Thanks to Guo Mi, Yu Gu, like her, can accept being bald but absolutely cannot accept being disabled!
A chill ran down his backside. The little male bear raised his paw to touch it, but couldn't reach it, and tears welled up in his eyes.
"Fishbone, is your tail really okay?"
The salmon spoke first, before he could cry.
The fish's tiny claws, still on its bottom, desperately stretched towards its tail, then turned its head to look at her with teary eyes.
The salmon, feeling helpless, repeatedly stated:
"He's still there, just injured."
A huge bear paw suddenly landed next to the two bear cubs, startling them. The little guys looked up in surprise.
Caesar glanced at them out of the corner of his eye, saw that the little bear was still in the same place, then looked away and focused his gaze on Guo Mi, who was covering her head and burying her face in her paws.
His gaze lingered on the notch in the round ear for a long time, then he suddenly lowered his head and gently licked the wound.
Guo Mi froze, and before she could react, her wound was licked a second time by something wet.
The giant furball jumped up, its fur standing on end, its eyes filled with terror as it stared at the male bear.
"What are you doing?!"
Why did you suddenly lick her ear?
Caesar looked at her with a somber gaze, then suddenly took two quick steps forward, placing a paw on her shoulder. His voice, though not particularly emotional, carried an inexplicable chill:
"Don't move." Guo Mi was already very tired, and having not been in contact with Caesar for so long, she was less wary of this rogue bear than before, and for a moment she couldn't break free.
Caesar held her firmly with both paws, then lowered his head and licked Guo Mi's ear twice more.
These two blows were much stronger than before, and waves of pain shot through the wound. Guo Mi knew he meant well, and at first she tried to endure it, saying:
"It hurts, stop licking."
As it turned out, the male bear had no intention of stopping. When he was licked for the eighth time, he swung his paw at him!
Snapped!
The pink paws, which hadn't been there in a long time, smacked Caesar's nose. Guo Mi wriggled free from his claws and said irritably:
"I said stop!"
This time Caesar stopped, but his less-than-pleasant gaze remained fixed on the top of Guo Mi's head.
Guo Mi was completely baffled. These were her ears. Could this stupid bear have contracted "domineering CEO syndrome" and be going to give her a "You are not allowed to get hurt without my permission" attitude?
Thinking about it now, she found herself speechless. Her lips twitched, and she gave Caesar a warning look, saying something remarkably similar to what Xia Tian had said:
"These are my ears, mine!"
Caesar's gloomy gaze finally changed, and he looked at her with a puzzled expression:
"The ears on your head are of course yours. Is there anything that needs to be declared?"
Guo Mi's eye twitched, and she thought to herself that she must have been too tired and confused to think things through.
But less than two seconds later, Caesar returned to his previous gloomy state, and instead of staring at her ears, he started staring at her.
"..."
Guo Mi turned her back to him, preferring not to see him.
Slok had been hiding to the side ever since he uttered those words, watching Guo Mi raise her paw to slap Caesar without daring to utter a sound. Only when the atmosphere finally eased up a bit did he peek out to look at Caesar.
Caesar said impatiently:
"What?"
Slok lowered his head and mumbled softly:
"Um, I want to go find Xia Tian."
Caesar said irritably:
"Why are you following a mother bear with cubs? Do you want to get bitten?"
“She won’t bite me!” Slok defended Summer.
Caesar chuckled:
"What do you mean by 'bear dad'? That's just talk. In the entire Arctic, what male bear would help a female bear raise her cubs? Stop doing stupid things."
“Then I’ll be the first one!” Slok said without hesitation.
"Shut up and stay put!" Caesar was too lazy to argue with him and decided to solve the problem with violence.
"No!" Slok shouted, and ran off in the direction Summer had gone without looking back.
Guo Mi watched his figure disappear into the thick fog and sighed. It had really been a long time since they had been apart. Slok had even gone through his rebellious phase and dared to yell at Caesar so loudly.
A short while later, Slok returned and whispered under the strange looks of the bears:
"I...I'm not here to apologize!"
Then, after looking around, he found the carcass of the largest wolf and dragged it away.
Guo Mi couldn't help but ask Caesar, who hadn't responded at all from the beginning:
Why didn't you stop him?
Caesar said coldly:
"He's already an adult bear, why should I care what he does? If he gets bitten to death, so be it."
As he spoke, he stood up and walked towards the wolf carcass, raised his paws to hold the corpse down, and began to tear at the wolf's fur.
After a moment, he raised his blood-stained face and looked at Guo Mi:
"Aren't you going to eat?"
