The big man has a living father

Chapter 20 The battle between avenues

Chapter 20 The battle between avenues
Liu Ju was confused: "If that's the case, why isn't it the imperial physician who's asked to improve his skills, but the prince who's asked to be more stable?"

"It's all because of the poor level of the imperial physician. I can't even jump around anymore."

Huo Hai smiled: "The imperial physician should improve his skills, and the prince should be careful about falling."

Liu Ju continued to ask: "Why can't fractures be cured?"

Huo Hai: "Because when a bone is broken, it is not aligned during the healing period, so it will grow crooked."

Liu Ju: "Wouldn't it be enough to just align them?"

Huo Hai: "Even if it is aligned during treatment, it takes a hundred days for the bones to heal, so it will still be crooked in the middle."

Liu Ju: "In that case, wouldn't it be enough to just fix the bones?"

Huo Hai touched Liu Ju's head and said, "Your Highness is really smart. The imperial doctors don't know how to use their brains and can't treat fractures, but Your Highness has used his brain and has figured out how to treat fractures. As long as we can figure out what materials and technologies can fix broken bones, we can cure fractures."

Liu Ju was excited. This seemed like a great achievement, a great thing! Did I, Liu Ju, also do something great?
Dong Zhongshu thought carefully about the questions and answers between the two people and realized that this was indeed the case.

Could it be that a fracture, a fatal or crippling injury, could be so easily cured? !

Thinking of this, Dong Zhongshu shook his head suddenly.

Oh no, the Mohist school is much stronger than during the Warring States Period, and they are here with ill intentions!

"Huo Hai!"

Huo Hai looked up in confusion: "Master Dong."

Dong Zhongshu: "Do you think there is a reason behind everything?"

Huo Hai shook his head: "Some things have no logic behind them, but behind any natural phenomenon, there are logic and laws to follow."

The question and answer represent the collision of two schools of thought.

Dong Zhongshu thought he was colliding with the Mohists.

In fact, he was colliding with the achievements of the scientific spirit represented by Mohism.

However, Huo Hai still admires Dong Zhongshu very much. He is one of the key figures in shaping China.

Why did Confucianism stand out among hundreds of schools of thought and become a tool used by feudal dynasties to rule?

Because the word "ru" itself means a shaman in the Zhou Dynasty, it represents rules and etiquette.

Anything doesn't have to run according to rules. As long as it runs according to etiquette, it probably won't collapse and will be very stable.

For a dynasty, stability comes first.

Therefore, the phrase "rituals are destroyed and music is collapsed" has been on the lips of Confucianists of all generations, used as a warning to emperors and ministers every day.

The second and most crucial point…knowledge will find its own way.

After Dong Zhongshu abolished all schools of thought and promoted Confucianism alone, would those who had Mohist classics as their family tradition give up the foundation of their livelihood and their families' survival?

What about the Legalists? What about the Military Strategists?
No, they can only find ways to change their things so that they become part of Confucianism and pass them on.

Thus, this shaped the second characteristic of Confucianism, which is to embrace all rivers.

Anything can be Confucian.

You are the Confucian who curses others, and he is the Confucian who kneels on the ground.

You are a man of steel, and he is a minister of the past dynasties.

You are a man of great ideas, while he is just boasting.

You are incorruptible, but he was confiscated of millions of dollars.

You have a mind set on serving the world, while he is obsessed with personal gain.

You live for the people, but he loves money like his life.

You are carrying on the legacy of the ancient sages, and he is using the legacy of the ancient sages to get promoted and make money.

You want to bring peace to the world for eternity, but with him around, there will be no peace for eternity.

This is all Confucianism.

Although in the Qing Dynasty, the corrupt scholars finally completed Dong Zhongshu's proposal of "all things other than the Six Arts are prohibited", but by then China had already been shaped and the impact was not that great.

Of course, the Confucianism's openness to all and its contribution to the stability of successive dynasties does not mean that Huo Hai should thank or worship them.

Should we thank suffering because we are tempered and successful after experiencing it? Should we thank the powerful countries for making progress after being invaded by them? This logic is definitely wrong.

Therefore, Huo Hai only admired Dong Zhongshu but did not thank him.

There are many ways to form China. Although Confucianism is a standard answer, it is undoubtedly not the best answer.

In particular, the decline of Gongyang School and the rise of Guliang School made Confucianism gradually become a cancer.

At this time, the two of them stared at each other. Dong Zhongshu: "Why do people die?"

Huo Hai: "Because people grow old."

Dong Zhongshu turned around and pointed to a tree nearby: "Why can that tree bloom again after aging?"

Huo Hai: "Because leaf falling does not mean aging, it just means that the winter is too dry and the tree needs to retain water, so it drops all its leaves to prevent water from evaporating."

Dong Zhongshu didn't understand.

Huo Hai added: "After crossing the Qinling Mountains and arriving in Shu, you will find that most trees do not lose all their leaves in winter. In Nanyue, there is no such thing as winter, and naturally there is no leaf-falling season."

Although Dong Zhongshu didn't know whether it was true or not, he knew that Huo Hai would not speak nonsense in such a formal occasion.

Dong Zhongshu: "Since we are all on the earth, why does the north have four seasons while the south is always hot?"

Huo Hai: "Because the earth is a sphere, the south is close to the middle and is directly exposed to the sun in winter, while the north is not directly exposed to the sun and is in the southerly sky."

Dong Zhongshu laughed: "Absurd."

Huo Hai: "Master Dong, if you are interested, you can go to Nanyue to see where the sun is in the sky... or else you can tell me why?"

Huo Hai knew that this was the Achilles' heel of Confucianism.

Confucianism is essentially a social science that focuses on the relationship between people and society, and studies this as well.

Natural science is a huge loophole in Confucianism.

Because, if you want to get to the bottom of many things, it is difficult to guarantee that the truth you are trying to uncover will not undermine the legitimacy of the emperor's rule.

If you study why chickens lay eggs and get to the bottom of it, you will eventually find that the emperor is not actually the Son of Heaven.

That would be great fun.

But there are always people in the world who like to think, so Mozi discovered the problems of Confucianism and thus embarked on the path of seeking verification and truth, and founded Mohism.

However, Confucianism also has its own theory, Dong Zhongshu: "Nature is determined by heaven. Heaven determines that the south is hot and the north is cold."

Huo Hai already knew what Dong Zhongshu was trying to do.

Liu Ju was also watching the fun at this time. With his little brain, he couldn't tell who was right.

But, Confucianism says it is simple!
Simple things are easier to learn!

A shrewd man like Dong Zhongshu had never prepared for an argument, nor had he ever thought about convincing his opponent theoretically.

All Dong Zhongshu needed to do was to let the crown prince choose him.

This is Confucianism.

Who wants to play truth with you? All we're competing for is the loudest voice.

The shorter the theory, the shorter the slogan, the louder the voice.

I don’t care about what you say, Confucianism just says "it is determined by heaven".

Huo Hai questioned Dong Zhongshu: "Yes, if you say so, whether it is the crown prince, the future crown prince, or the next crown prince, they will all choose you. It is not wrong, but they choose you over you and me."

"But don't forget the most fatal weakness of Ram School."

"Since Emperor Gaozu, the number of royal relatives and nobles has increased, and the fiefdoms of these people have been a huge threat to previous emperors. Therefore, the principle of 'royal relatives are no different from common people' in your Gongyang School is recognized."

"But now that your majesty has issued the decree of enfeoffment, all those who can be called royal relatives in the future will be your majesty's brothers, sisters or uncles. Will they still advocate Gongyang School at that time?"

"You can use this method to make the royal family choose you, but in the future, Guliang School will use the same method to make you disappear into thin air."

Huo Hai's words pulled a string in Dong Zhongshu's heart.

Gongyang School, to put it bluntly, is a kind of passionate learning. Don't ask any questions. The answer is to chop down anyone who doesn't obey. Revenge will be taken.

This is not only true for national hatred, but also for family hatred. Gongyang School emphasizes that the hatred for killing one's father is irreconcilable and supports anyone to avenge blood feud.

Even if the other party is a royal relative.

Of course, the emperor is an exception, because the emperor is the Son of Heaven. If your father was killed by the emperor, it means that your father deserved to die, and the emperor was acting in the name of justice.

This theory will undoubtedly be supported by any middle and lower class and will easily grow and develop.

But... Guliang School is not like this. Guliang School believes that people are born with differences in status.

The Guliang School is more stable than the Gongyang School, and of course it is more likely to be recognized by rulers in peaceful times.

What's more, the distinction between the upper and the lower helps the nobles and aristocratic families form a natural class moat. Why not do it?
Therefore, the history of China has become an alternation between "there are differences between the noble and the humble" and "are there any different species among kings, princes, generals and ministers?"

If Guliang School used the same method that Dong Zhongshu used to fool people today to deal with Gongyang School, Gongyang School would not be able to survive at all.
