Chapter 32 What a painful realization
Chapter 32 What a painful realization
Qiao Yu actually played a few rounds of table tennis with others on the playground before coming to the high school department.
In fact, Qiao Yu wanted to find an outdoor team to play a few games of basketball. Unfortunately, there was only one class taking physical education class on the basketball court. A group of junior high school students were there, banging and hitting a bunch of basketballs.
I had to settle for the next best thing and went to the ping-pong table by the playground, picked a table at random, and played a few games with my junior high school classmate who was enjoying the afternoon physical education break.
After doing some exercise and briefly teaching two boastful first-year junior high school students how to behave, Qiao Yu felt relaxed both physically and mentally.
There was no other way. Qiao Yu's grandfather was a table tennis enthusiast and had won prizes in competitions organized by the railway. He was well-known in the company. After retirement, he would take little Qiao Yu to the senior citizen activity center to play table tennis whenever he had time.
This was probably one of the favorite sports of Qiao Yu's grandfather's generation. After all, table tennis has a very special place in the minds of that generation of Chinese people.
Qiao Yu was a quick learner, and the older generation didn't have so many rules for playing basketball. So during those two years he learned a lot of shady tricks from his grandfather and his other retired basketball friends.
What are stealing corners, hiding serves, fake backspin, adjusting short balls, roundabout tactics, continuous spin control...
If you meet a real master, you can give the opponent a headache, not to mention educating the junior high school students who like to brag about how powerful they are. Let the two juniors know how sinister this society is in advance, and spread it out, it will be a great merit.
So Qiao Yu was in a really good mood.
When I was halfway up to the second floor, someone suddenly called me.
"God Qiao, God Qiao..."
"Ma Yufei, the guy with you...what's his name, the fat one..."
"Lu Jia."
"Oh, by the way, where are the others?"
"He's waiting for you on the other side of the stairs."
"What? Are you looking for something from me?"
Hearing this, Qiao Yu became interested and asked curiously while looking at Ma Yufei who was standing in the stairwell.
To be honest, Qiao Yu actually likes this tall and thin senior very much, or it can be said that Qiao Yu likes all sponsors who give money without hesitation.
"Well, it's nothing, actually. If someone in our Olympiad class asks you how we met, you can just say that you met playing table tennis together. Don't say that you were looking for math problems in the Internet cafe."
Qiao Yu looked at Ma Yufei's frowning brows and flushed face, and he had a rough idea in his mind. He stretched out his hand and climbed onto Ma Yufei's shoulder, saying righteously: "What are you talking about? We met while playing table tennis. We played at the table next to the playground. I was thinking of learning the skills from you guys."
What does it mean that a kind word can warm you through the winter? This is it.
After hearing what Qiao Yu said, Ma Yufei immediately relaxed his brows and said gratefully, "Good brother!"
Qiao Yu nodded and said considerately, "It's nothing. I'll walk around the building and you go get Lu Jia to go into the classroom first. I'll go in later. I went in before you because I'm afraid your classmates might misunderstand me."
This sentence almost made Ma Yufei cry. He felt that Qiao Yu was more considerate than his parents. He immediately said gratefully, "Thank you so much, Master Qiao. I'll treat you to dinner tonight."
Qiao Yu smiled and said, "It's meaningless to say this to family members. If you really feel bad, just remember this meal. It won't be too late for you to treat us when we go to the city to take the preliminary exam for the Olympic Games."
"Okay, then it's settled! I'll treat you to a big dinner then!" Ma Yufei responded solemnly.
"Go quickly." Qiao Yu took back the hand that was on Ma Yufei's shoulder and urged him.
"Well, let's run faster. We'll be in the classroom in three minutes."
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
Watching Ma Yufei run down the stairs, Qiao Yu smiled and simply walked to the second floor, intending to go to Teacher Lan's office first. Then he followed Lan Jie to class. Qiao Yu's principle of doing things is that no matter whether you choose to be a good person or a bad person, you must do it directly to the end. Doing halfway is not only boring, but often also troublesome. However, this is not what his grandfather taught him, but the conclusion he came to from daily observation.
The door of Langjie's office was wide open. Qiao Yu peeked in from the door and saw several teachers in the office, chatting.
Qiao Yu was hesitating whether he should go in and say hello to the good guy, when Lang Jie turned around and saw him and waved.
"Qiao Yu, what are you doing there? Come in."
Unable to hide, Qiao Yu walked in confidently, facing the curious gazes of other teachers.
"Hello, Teacher Lan."
"Well, your teacher Yuan called me at noon and praised you for your excellent performance in the Chinese test and said that your composition would get full marks."
Qiao Yu smiled shyly. Since everyone else was bragging for him, he shouldn't do anything. It was better to just keep silent.
"Teacher Lan, this is the little genius you were talking about, right? I finally get to meet him today." Another teacher with glasses next to Lan Jie said.
"Yes, Teacher Qiu, this kid is amazing. Okay, you guys continue chatting, I have to go to class, let's go, Qiao Yu." As if he thought of something, Ranjie said with a smile, picked up the prepared notebook and stood up.
"Haha... Lao Lan, we won't compete with you. There's no need to hide it."
Qiao Yu was walking in front of Lan Jie and heard a joyful yet sour laugh behind him. Unfortunately, Teacher Lan closed the highly soundproof door as he walked out of the office.
"The teachers in high school are all pretty good," Qiao Yu commented.
"Oh? What do you mean?" Ranger asked curiously.
"I just like to tell the truth." Qiao Yu replied.
"Huh? Haha..."
Ranger couldn't help laughing. He really didn't expect that this kid would actually play a joke on him. This was a good sign.
After laughing, Langjie took out a book from his bag of notebooks and handed it to Qiao Yu. There was a pen clipped on the title page.
He said seriously, "This is for you. When you are taught the examples in class later, you don't have to listen if you can do them. You must at least write ten pages carefully and check them for me after class. If you don't write well, keep writing. I have prepared a lot for you."
Qiao Yu took the book and glanced at it, with a complicated expression...
"Calligraphy copybook? No way, Teacher Lan, are you serious?"
"What else? Your handwriting is as bad as a dog's, worse than that of an elementary school student. You are going to take the high school entrance exam soon. Do you want to lose points on the test paper? I'm sorry to discourage you. But you just said that high school teachers like to tell the truth the most."
Qiao Yu was speechless, feeling that he had learned a new life lesson - people who flatter others will always encounter bad luck.
Lan Jie looked at Qiao Yu's face full of reluctance and advised: "You should always practice your handwriting, not just for exams. Don't think that you don't need to write well in the Internet age when everything is electronic!
"Think about it. If you become a great professor or a big shot in other fields and make a lot of money, you will need to write a lot. If your handwriting is like that of an elementary school student, will you be embarrassed?"
Qiao Yu blinked and asked in surprise, "I have become a big shot and made a lot of money through hard work. If I still care whether others will laugh at my ugly handwriting, then my success is in vain, isn't it?"
Lang Jie was speechless for a moment, so he chose to show his dignity as a teacher without hesitation and scolded: "Don't talk nonsense, just practice calligraphy when I tell you to!"
As expected, a teacher cannot get along like friends with a guy who likes to take advantage of others, the good guy also thought to himself.
