I am a fairy in Journey to the West

Chapter 600 Success in Learning Skills

At dawn, Sun Wukong walked out of his cave and saw two extremely simple thatched huts that had been erected on the open ground to his right. At this time, Liu Chenxiang and Xiaoyu were planning how to build the houses. When they saw Sun Wukong, they quickly came to greet him.

"Master." Liu Chenxiang bowed with his hands clasped, while Xiaoyu respectfully greeted him, calling out, "Great Sage."

Sun Wukong nodded, then said to Liu Chenxiang, "Come with me."

Liu Chenxiang responded, and then Sun Wukong led Liu Chenxiang into the cave.

Inside the cave, Sun Wukong sat cross-legged on a stone platform and asked Liu Chenxiang, "I can't teach you much, only two methods, but both of these methods can lead to immortality."

"Master, as long as I can attain immortality, I don't care how many methods there are." Liu Chenxiang quickly bowed and said, "Please teach me the methods, Master."

Sun Wukong nodded and said, "The first method I will teach you is the 'Great Celestial Immortal Technique.' This method is the fundamental method and can help you attain the Taiyi Immortal Path."

After saying that, Sun Wukong raised his hand and pointed, and a golden light instantly entered Liu Chenxiang's brow.

Liu Chenxiang felt a vast and ethereal light flash before his eyes, and then a Daoist technique appeared in his mind, namely the "Great Celestial Immortal Technique".

Then Sun Wukong added, "The second method is the Seventy-Two Transformations of the Earthly Fiends, which I will also teach you."

As he spoke, Sun Wukong raised his hand again and pointed, and another beam of golden light entered Liu Chenxiang's brow.

Liu Chenxiang's eyes flickered slightly, and when his gaze returned to clarity, the 'Seventy-Two Transformations of Earthly Fiends' technique appeared in his mind.

"These two methods, if you cultivate them diligently, will lead you to transcend the mundane and attain the Taiyi Immortal Path, which is within your grasp," Sun Wukong said. "As for the various supernatural powers, you will have to figure that out for yourself."

Supernatural powers are divine abilities that a cultivator gains upon reaching a certain level, naturally comprehending the laws of heaven and earth, and are not something that can be casually imparted.

"And my indestructible body is something I was born with, so I can't pass it on to you. You'll have to rely on your future good fortune and cultivation." Sun Wukong said, "Do you understand?"

As Liu Chenxiang experienced the two techniques, "Great Celestial Immortal Technique" and "Seventy-Two Transformations of Earthly Fiends," in his mind, he was extremely excited.

Not paying much attention to supernatural powers and physical strength, Liu Chenxiang immediately kowtowed and said after hearing Sun Wukong's words: "Disciple understands, thank you Master for bestowing the Dharma."

Sun Wukong nodded and said, "Alright, the method has been taught to you. Go and study and cultivate it on your own. If you encounter any difficulties, you can come and ask me at any time."

"Disciple understands." Liu Chenxiang bowed deeply, then rose and left the cave.

But soon after, Liu Chenxiang returned and asked Sun Wukong, "Master, I didn't ask earlier, which of the two methods, the Great Celestial Immortal Technique and the Seventy-Two Transformations of Earthly Fiends, should we cultivate first?"

This shows the difference between Liu Chenxiang and Sun Wukong. Back then, Patriarch Bodhi taught Sun Wukong both of these methods at the same time.

Sun Wukong first cultivated the "Great Celestial Immortal Technique" and then the "Seventy-Two Transformations of Earthly Fiends".

Upon hearing Liu Chenxiang's question, Sun Wukong laughed and said, "Do you know what the 'fundamental method' is?"

Liu Chenxiang himself also had a connection to the immortals. Although he couldn't understand it at first, he immediately understood after Sun Wukong's explanation.

"Thank you, Master. I understand." After saying this, Liu Chenxiang bowed deeply in gratitude and then walked out of the cave again.

After leaving the cave, Xiaoyu hurriedly stepped forward and asked, "How was it? What spells did you learn?"

Liu Chenxiang scratched his head and said, "My master taught me two techniques and told me to cultivate them on my own first."

Xiaoyu nodded slightly upon hearing this and said, "Alright, in that case, let's cultivate together."

"Huh?" Liu Chenxiang asked in surprise, "Did someone also bestow magic upon you?"

Xiaoyu smiled and said, "Of course, my family has an ancestral method with great power. After mastering it, it has the divine power to split the sky and shatter the earth."

"So powerful?" Liu Chenxiang asked in shock, "What kind of magic is that?"

Xiaoyu said with a proud look, "This technique is called the 'Heaven-Splitting Divine Palm.' Although my grandmother passed it on to me back then, I didn't practice it properly. Now that the Great Sage Equaling Heaven has passed on the technique to you, let's practice together and see who can practice faster."

"Alright." Liu Chenxiang was also very happy. "Then let's cultivate together."

Xiaoyu was all smiles and about to speak when she accidentally caught sight of a figure walking over. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Liang, the woman from yesterday.

"Hmph." Xiaoyu's expression immediately turned sour. She turned around and said, "If you're going to cultivate, this thatched hut won't do. Let's build a house first."

After saying that, Xiaoyu turned and left.

Liu Chenxiang was stunned for a moment, then he saw Liang Nu. He looked at Xiao Yu's back, then at Liang Nu, and finally stood still and bowed to Liang Nu, calling out, "Sister Liang Nu."

With a smile, Liang asked Liu Chenxiang, "Have you successfully become an apprentice?"

Liu Chenxiang nodded quickly and said, "I succeeded. My master also bestowed two methods upon me for cultivation."

Upon hearing this, Ms. Liang immediately cupped her hands and smiled, saying, "Congratulations!"

"Thank you, Sister Liang," Liu Chenxiang said. Without asking what Liang was there for, she pointed to Xiaoyu and said, "I'll go take a look over there."

Ms. Liang nodded and smiled, "Okay."

Liu Chenxiang turned and left, while Liang Nu went straight to Sun Wukong's cave. When she saw the couplet in front of the cave, her eyes lit up with a spiritual light, and she stood there quietly, as if she was deep in thought.

Meanwhile, Liu Chenxiang came to Xiaoyu's side. Xiaoyu was selecting trees. When she saw Liu Chenxiang coming, she pointed to a big tree and said, "Cut down this tree, and it will be enough for the two of us to build a house."

Liu Chenxiang looked up and saw that the pine tree in front of him was seven or eight zhang tall, with lush green leaves and a straight trunk, making it very suitable for building houses.

"Okay," Liu Chenxiang said, "I'll go find the axe." Then he turned to leave.

At this moment, the two saw Sun Wukong and the big man from last night walk out of the cave together and walk quickly towards Liang Nu.

"Huh?" Liu Chenxiang was somewhat surprised. "Master knows Sister Liang?"

Xiaoyu said, "What's so strange about that? We all live on the same mountain, we see each other all the time, it would be strange if we didn't know each other."

“That’s not right,” Liu Chenxiang said. “Why is Master being so polite to Sister Liang? And that uncle, look how polite he is too.”

Xiaoyu looked closely and then noticed something unusual: Sun Wukong was noticeably more kind and friendly to Liang Nu.

Liang Nu bowed to Sun Wukong, and Sun Wukong actually returned the bow with his own hands clasped, which greatly surprised Xiaoyu and Liu Chenxiang.

"This is incredible!" Liu Chenxiang exclaimed. "How can Sister Liang be so close to Master? Could they be relatives?"

Xiaoyu scoffed and said, "He must be the child of some great god or immortal, just a spoiled brat."

Although she said that, she herself did not believe it, because the Great Sage Equaling Heaven was definitely not the kind of person who would curry favor with the powerful. Given Sun Wukong's status and temperament, let alone a spoiled brat, not even any of the gods and Buddhas in the heavens could make Sun Wukong curry favor with the powerful.

Just as he was wondering what was going on, Sun Wukong waved to Liu Chenxiang from a distance, clearly signaling him to come over.

Liu Chenxiang said, "It seems like Master is calling me."

Xiaoyu said, "They're calling you. They probably want to introduce you to your sister Liang."

"Then I'll head over first," Liu Chenxiang said.

Xiaoyu said, "Go ahead, and come back later and tell me what your sister Liang is all about."

"Okay," Liu Chenxiang replied, then quickly ran over.

Upon arriving, Liu Chenxiang bowed to Sun Wukong and addressed him as "Master." Sun Wukong then pointed to Liang Nu and said, "This is your Martial Aunt Liang."

"Huh?" Liu Chenxiang's mind went blank for a moment, then she suddenly realized that Sister Liang and her master were from the same sect?
After realizing what was happening, Liu Chenxiang quickly greeted Liang Nu and said, "Disciple Liu Chenxiang greets Martial Aunt Liang."

"No need for formalities," Ms. Liang said with a smile. "We've already met."

Sun Wukong laughed and said, "This is fate. When fate brings us together, we will know each other from all corners of the world. When fate ends, we will find it hard to meet even when we are close at hand."

"Alright," Sun Wukong said, "Chenxiang, now that you know your Uncle Liang, there's no need for further introductions. Go do your own thing."

Liu Chenxiang responded, then bowed to Sun Wukong and Liang Nu before turning and leaving again.

Sun Wukong then welcomed Liang into his cave. After they were seated, Sun Wukong said to Liang, "I wonder if Sister Zhaoyan remembers that we met once in the mortal world?"

Liang Nu smiled and said, "Of course I remember. Back then, you escorted Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West, and I was the queen of the Western Liang Women's Kingdom."

Sun Wukong laughed and said, "I didn't expect that after going around in circles, we're still family in the end."

At this point, Sun Wukong's expression changed again, as if he was recalling some unpleasant memories.

Needless to say, he naturally thought of what happened when Fu Lin became the Queen of the Women's Kingdom.

"Alas, I, Old Sun, will never forget that ordeal in the Kingdom of Women," Sun Wukong said with a sigh.

The Bull Demon King was quite curious upon hearing this and asked, "Brother, what exactly did you encounter in the Women's Kingdom?" Sun Wukong replied, "I'll tell you in detail later, brother."

"Alright, alright, it's a deal." The Bull Demon King nodded repeatedly, his face full of curiosity.

At this moment, Liang took out a porcelain bottle from her sleeve and presented it to Sun Wukong, saying, "Brother, this is what Patriarch Bodhi asked me to deliver. The Patriarch said he wanted to hand it to you personally."

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong solemnly accepted the porcelain bottle, then opened it and took a look.

In an instant, the elixir energy overflowed, filling the entire cave with its fragrance.

Sun Wukong, being an experienced person, could tell what kind of elixir it was just by smelling it. Only the Bull Demon King was somewhat surprised, "What kind of elixir is this? Why does it smell so good?"

Sun Wukong said, "It is Laozi's 'Nine-Turn Golden Elixir'."

"Nine Revolutions." The Bull Demon King paused for a moment, then asked, "Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir? Brother, you are now the Victorious Fighting Buddha, your Dao attainment is above all immortals, what use do you have for this Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir?"

Sun Wukong sealed the jade stopper, put the porcelain bottle into his sleeve, and then said with a smile, "The golden elixir will have its use; we'll just have to wait for the right opportunity."

The Bull Demon King seemed to understand, but he stopped thinking about it, since it was none of his business anyway.

Then Sun Wukong looked at Liang Nu and asked, "Where is Sister Zhao Yan now cultivating with the Patriarch?"

Liang nodded and said, "My master asked me to come here to sit under the patriarch and listen to his teachings."

Sun Wukong laughed and said, "That's true. As the supreme ruler of the Jade Palace in the mortal world, Uncle holds power over the three realms and the human world. Naturally, he doesn't have much time to teach and instruct. Although Uncle has immeasurable power, he is truly not as proficient as the Patriarch in teaching disciples."

Liang frowned and asked in surprise, "Brother, what did you say about the Emperor who oversees the Jade Palace of the Mortal Realm?"

"Hmm?" Sun Wukong asked in surprise, "What? Don't you know? Your master, my uncle, is the Emperor of the Mortal Realm, the Great Emperor of the Divine Firmament with Clear Mind and Bright Spirit."

Seeing the shock on Liang Nu's face, the Bull Demon King couldn't help but smile. Although he was hesitant to point it out, Sun Wukong obviously didn't need to worry too much.

"Brother, are you saying that Master is the Divine Emperor of the Jade Palace in the Mortal Realm?" Liang asked in shock.

Sun Wukong said, "That's right, so you didn't know all this time?" Then Sun Wukong laughed, "You've been a bit negligent as a disciple."

Liang Nu was both shocked and proud, but also somewhat helpless. "Brother, it's not that I've failed in my duty. It's just that Master never told me. I always thought he was a subject of the Divine Emperor."

"I see." Sun Wukong smiled knowingly and said, "Your uncle didn't tell you because he didn't want to affect your heart for cultivating the Tao."

Liang nodded and said, "Brother is right. Master has put a lot of thought into this, but I failed to understand it in time. I am truly ashamed."

Sun Wukong smiled, and Liang Nu quickly adjusted her mindset. No matter what her master's identity was, he was just her master, nothing more!

Seeing how quickly Liang Nu calmed down, Sun Wukong was amazed. "No wonder your uncle wanted to take you as his disciple. With your talent, it would be a waste for you to stay in the mortal world as a minor king."

Liang bowed and said, "Brother, you flatter me."

At this point, Liang Nu brought up the couplet outside the cave, saying, "Brother, there seems to be a hidden meaning in the couplet outside your cave."

Sun Wukong raised an eyebrow and asked, "What did Sister Zhaoyan see?"

Liang said, "Please allow me to speak, and if there is anything wrong, please correct me, brother."

Sun Wukong said, "Tell me about it."

Liang Nu said, “The first line, ‘When you see your true nature and are sincere in your will, the place you turn around is the sacred mountain,’ must be referring to the difficulty of the journey to the West. Even though you have experienced many hardships, you have not changed your original intention. If you are sincere in your will and unwavering in your determination to obtain the scriptures, then every step you take on the journey to the West will be a majestic and sacred sacred mountain.”

Sun Wukong laughed and asked, "And what's the second line?"

After a moment of contemplation, Ms. Liang said, "Does the second line, 'Upholding truth and righteousness, one sees the true Buddha only in times of rebellion,' use the allusion 'reversal is the movement of the Way' from the Five Thousand Words?"

Sun Wukong clapped his hands and laughed, "Good, good, well said! Then let me ask you, what does 'reversal is the movement of the Tao' mean? And what does my second line mean?"

Liang Nu said, “Reversal is the movement of the Dao. This comes from Laozi’s Five Thousand Words Daoist Scripture. It means that things will inevitably reverse when they reach their extreme. Once all things in the world reach their limit, they will turn to the opposite. This is the law of the Dao. This is called ‘reversal’.”

“Upholding truth and righteousness, one can see the true Buddha in times of rebellion. I think this means that as long as one can uphold the true Dharma, strictly adhere to the righteous path, and then observe the laws governing the rebellion of all things, one can comprehend the true ‘Tao’,” said Liang Nu.

Sun Wukong sighed and said, "Only today do I realize that the saying 'the younger generation is to be feared' is truly true."

Liang bowed and said, "My answers are all based on my own feelings. If there are any errors or omissions, please teach me, brother."

“There’s nothing wrong with it. You’ve grasped this level, so I have nothing more to teach you. Just keep up your cultivation and don’t slack off. Your path to immortality is limitless,” Sun Wukong said.

Upon hearing this, Liang showed no sign of pride or arrogance, but humbly replied, "Thank you for your praise, brother. I will follow your teachings."

So Liang Nu sat with Sun Wukong for a while longer before getting up to say goodbye and leave.

The Bull Demon King continued to shuttle between the two places. When Liang Nu had something to do, he would go to the Cave of the Slanting Moon and Three Stars. When he had nothing to do, he would come over to chat with Sun Wukong. He lived a leisurely and carefree life.

Sun rises and sets, spring goes and autumn comes.

Three years passed in Lingtai Mountain as clouds gathered and dispersed. Liang Nu awoke from her meditation. Three years had gone by, and her aura had become even clearer and more profound. Every move she made showed signs of returning to simplicity and authenticity.

Sitting cross-legged under the old pine tree, Liang Nu felt her Qi Sea full and her Dantian overflowing. There seemed to be a faint boundary waiting for her to break through.

However, Ms. Liang hesitated to take that step because she felt the time was not right.

But this feeling was very clear. Liang felt that she could become an immortal as soon as she took a step and broke through the boundary, but a voice deep in her soul told her that the time was not yet right.

So Liang Nu prepared to consult the Bodhi Patriarch, but just as she stood up, a surge of energy suddenly shot straight into the sky from Fangcun Mountain.

Afterwards, auspicious clouds gathered from all directions, accumulating above the north side of Fangcun Mountain, where they lingered for a long time.

Liang looked up and immediately spotted the auspicious cloud. "Is that where my brother's cave is?"

The next moment, Liang suddenly realized what was happening and blurted out, "Liu Chenxiang has become an immortal!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a beam of celestial light shot into the sky, instantly filling the sky for a thousand miles around. Then, the celestial light and auspicious clouds transformed into spiritual rain, which fell from the sky and nourished all living beings within a thousand miles of Lingtai Mountain.

Then a magnificent and vast aura spread out. Except for the creatures on Fangcun Mountain and Danchi Ridge, all the other creatures sensed this aura and prostrated themselves in worship.

I did it!!!

"Hahaha, three years! Three years! I've finally become an immortal!"

Liu Chenxiang's joyful voice echoed throughout Fangcun Mountain. After a moment's thought, Liang Nu left Xieyue Sanxing Cave and headed towards Sun Wukong's cave. Since Liu Chenxiang had attained immortality, she naturally wanted to offer her congratulations.

When Liang arrived, Liu Chenxiang was performing the grand ceremony of three bows and nine kowtows to Sun Wukong to thank him for his three years of instruction.

Sun Wukong helped Liu Chenxiang up, who was beaming with excitement, and said to him, "You have now attained the Dao fruit of 'Taiyi Golden Immortal' in the Taiyi Scattered Numbers, and you have also perfected the 'Great Celestial Immortal Technique' and 'Seventy-Two Transformations of Earthly Fiends.' You are ready to graduate."

Upon hearing this, Liu Chenxiang was slightly taken aback, and the excitement on her face quickly diminished by six points.

Regardless of his hatred for Buddhism, Sun Wukong meticulously taught and transmitted the Dharma to him over the past three years without holding back in the slightest.

These past three years have also been the purest and happiest three years of his life, so when he heard the words "graduation," Liu Chenxiang was still a little reluctant to part with it.

But this reluctance was quickly overwhelmed by the thought of 'saving his mother.' Yes, now that he had mastered his skills, it was time to go and save his mother.

So Liu Chenxiang knelt on the ground again and bowed three times and kowtowed nine times to Sun Wukong. When Sun Wukong saw this, he said, "I said before that after you graduated, we would no longer have the relationship of master and disciple."

After saying that, Sun Wukong raised his hand and placed it on Liu Chenxiang's head, saying, "Liu Chenxiang, you have achieved success in your cultivation. Your master hereby grants you permission to graduate."

After saying that, Liu Chenxiang felt as if some connection had been severed in the darkness. That must be the fate between master and disciple, he thought to himself.

Liu Chenxiang kowtowed for the third time to express his gratitude, then stood up and no longer addressed Sun Wukong as "Master," but instead respectfully called him "Great Sage."

Liang Nu also came forward to offer her congratulations and presented Liu Chenxiang with spiritual fruits from the mountains as a gift. After Liu Chenxiang accepted the gifts, he thanked Liang Nu and stopped calling her "Uncle-Master" but instead addressed her as "Fellow Daoist Liang".

Finally, Liu Chenxiang asked Sun Wukong, "Great Sage, may we stay in the mountains for one more night and descend tomorrow?"

Sun Wukong nodded and smiled, "It's up to you. You built this house yourselves, so you can stay as long as you want."

Liu Chenxiang thanked him repeatedly, and then Sun Wukong held a banquet in the cave, with all kinds of fine wine and delicacies.

Right there at the banquet, Xiao Yu, who was sitting next to Liu Chenxiang, suddenly narrowed her eyes. Her gaze fell on a porcelain bottle in a stone niche on the wall of a cave not far away. There was a yellow paper strip on the porcelain bottle that read: "The Supreme Lord Laozi personally made the Nine-Turn Golden Elixir."

Xiaoyu's breathing instantly became heavy. She looked at Liu Chenxiang, who had become a Taiyi Golden Immortal, while she herself was still far from becoming an immortal. She also thought of her grandmother, who had not become an immortal either.

For a moment, Xiaoyu's gaze was fixed on the porcelain vase, and she couldn't look away for a long time. (End of this chapter)
