I am a fairy in Journey to the West
Chapter 471 Drinking Leads to Infatuation
The Heavenly Court, the Imperial Horse Stables.
Apart from the change of the supervisor, the personnel here have remained largely the same. It is said that being a civil servant in the human world is like having an iron rice bowl, while being a god in heaven is like having a golden rice bowl.
As long as you don't break the laws of heaven, you can stay in one position for thousands or tens of thousands of years. Of course, there are downsides, namely that you might stay in one position for tens of thousands of years without changing.
In short, the main focus of the celestial officials is stability.
As for why the supervisor was changed, the answer is quite simple: Sun Wukong was the previous supervisor.
The so-called Bi Ma Wen was the head of the Imperial Horse Administration, or simply "Jian Zheng".
The Imperial Horse Stables were responsible for raising horses for the Jade Emperor, and they diagnosed the cause after only examining the Purple Dragon Horse.
"Great Sage." The supervisor came over, poured Sun Wukong a cup of wine, and then said with a smile, "Great Sage, the illness of the Purple Dragon Horse has been found."
"Oh?" Sun Wukong quickly asked, "What is the cause of this illness?"
The supervisor said, "The Purple Dragon Horse was bitten by the 'Five-Colored Poisonous Fly' and poisoned, causing its internal organs to be rotten. Fortunately, the Great Sage arrived early; otherwise, the Purple Dragon Horse would have died in the underworld."
Sun Wukong nodded after listening, and then asked, "Is it cured now?"
The supervisor said, "Great Sage, we have now controlled the poison and saved the life of the Purple Dragon Horse. But to completely eliminate this putrefactive poison, we still need to refine the 'Five-Flower Cleansing Pill'."
Sun Wukong asked, "Does your Imperial Stables not have any stock?"
The supervisor smiled obsequiously and said, "Great Sage, where would you find 'Five-Colored Poisonous Fly' in the heavens? Why would you keep such a pill on hand?"
Sun Wukong thought about it and agreed, so he asked again, "How many days will it take to refine this elixir?"
The supervisor said, "About half a month, oh, that's the Earthly Calendar, not the Celestial Calendar."
Half a month in the Earthly Calendar is equivalent to fifteen days in the human world.
Sun Wukong nodded and said, "Alright, then you all hurry up and refine it, so as not to delay the journey to the West. I, Old Sun, will go out for a stroll and visit some old acquaintances."
The supervisor replied repeatedly, "Yes, yes, Great Sage, please rest assured."
Sun Wukong then flew directly out of the Imperial Horse Stables, but shortly after he left, a celestial official from the Bureau of Transmission of the Tai Xuan arrived there.
Upon seeing the newcomer, the supervisor immediately went to greet him, bowed, and asked, "What brings you here, sir?"
The envoy from the Imperial Secretariat returned the greeting with clasped hands and asked the Superintendent, "Superintendent, is the Great Sage here?"
The supervisor was stunned upon hearing this and said, "The Great Sage was just here a moment ago, saying he was going out for a stroll and to visit some acquaintances. He left not long ago."
"Oh dear," the messenger said, "there is a letter here addressed to the Great Sage, sent from the underworld."
"The Underworld?" The supervisor was stunned. "What message would the people from the Underworld send to the Great Sage? Besides, how did they know the Great Sage was here?"
The messenger from the Imperial Secretariat said, "Of course I know. Look and see who wrote the letter."
Upon seeing this, the supervisor suddenly realized, "Oh, so they are the Great Sage's three junior brothers. By the way, what are they doing in the underworld?"
The messenger from the Tongcheng Academy said, "I doubt he's dead."
Upon hearing this, the supervisor's hand trembled violently, and he said, "If he's not dead, why would he go to the underworld? Something must have happened."
After saying that, the supervisor immediately called over several of his subordinates and instructed them: "Go and find the Great Sage quickly. Tell him that Tang Sanzang and the others have run into trouble and that a letter has been sent to the Imperial Horse Administration, asking him to come back as soon as possible."
"Yes." The clerks quickly accepted the order and left.
The messenger from the Imperial Secretariat said, "I have delivered the letter and will be heading back now."
The supervisor quickly stepped forward and said, "I will escort the messenger."
Meanwhile, the minor officials from the Imperial Horse Stables left the stable and searched everywhere like headless flies, but they couldn't find Sun Wukong even after searching all day.
Fortunately, they encountered the imperial carriage of the Moon Goddess. The Moon Goddess, sitting on her precious palanquin, saw these minor officials running around and called them to a stop.
The minor officials arrived before the carriage of the Moon Goddess and knelt down to kowtow, saying, "Greetings, Moon Goddess."
The Moon Goddess asked through the curtain, "Have any horses gone missing from the Imperial Stables?"
Upon hearing this, the minor officials quickly replied, "Reporting to the Star Lord, no horse was lost."
The Moon Goddess said, "Since you didn't lose your horse, what are you looking for everywhere?"
Upon hearing this, the officials informed the Moon Goddess about the letter, concluding, "Goddess, we are looking for the Great Sage Equal to Heaven."
The Moon Goddess laughed and said, "The places you've found are all celestial gardens, golden terraces and flower pavilions, places where celestial officials gather and relax. Why would the Great Sage Equal to Heaven come to these places?"
After saying this, the Moon Goddess addressed the minor officials, "I will point you in a direction; go and find it yourselves."
The minor officials kowtowed and said, "Please enlighten us, Your Majesty."
The Moon Goddess said, "Go to the Tushita Palace and ask. The Great Sage Equaling Heaven might be there."
The minor officials were startled upon hearing this. "Dushuai Palace?" How could such a place be accessible to them?
The Moon Goddess smiled, issued a talisman, and said, "Take my talisman and go there. The heavenly generals of the Tushita Palace will inform you."
The minor officials, seeing the talisman fall before them, immediately accepted it and then kowtowed, saying, "Thank you, True Lord."
Then, the ceremonial carriage of the Moon Goddess slowly departed, accompanied by a group of Moon Goddess officials and the attendants of Chang'e. After watching the Moon Goddess leave, the officials took the talisman and headed towards the Tushita Palace.
Just as the Moon Goddess had predicted, Sun Wukong was currently in the Tushita Palace, pestering Laozi for elixirs.
Tired of being pestered, Laozi casually pulled out a gourd and tossed it to Sun Wukong, saying, "Monkey, this is the only gourd of pills I have to give you. Don't even think about anything else."
"Oh?" Sun Wukong quickly caught the gourd and asked, "What kind of elixir is it?"
Lao Tzu said, "Heavenly Transformation Primordial Shell Pill."
Sun Wukong opened the gourd and looked inside, then said, "Why are there only three?"
Lao Tzu laughed and said, "Everything has its number; these three are enough for you."
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong looked at it again, then put it to his nose and smelled it, saying, "It doesn't seem very tasty."
"Of course it doesn't taste good. This pill is for external use." Laozi laughed. "This pill has the power to seize the creation of heaven and earth. If a divine cultivator's physical body perishes, he only needs to put his soul into this pill, and his physical body can be reconstructed in an instant. Moreover, it will perfectly match the soul, just like before."
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong immediately poured the golden elixir back into the gourd, then tossed the gourd to Laozi, saying, "I, Old Sun, possess an innate, indestructible body; I have no need for your golden elixir."
Lao Tzu chuckled and said, "You really don't want it?"
Sun Wukong waved his hands repeatedly, looking disgusted, and said, "No, no, I know you're stingy, Laozi. I don't want your pills. I'm a little hungry. Would you be willing to give me some wine?"
"You have to give it up." Laozi immediately instructed the boy, "Go and fetch a jar of that 30,000-year-old pure spring wine for the Great Sage to taste."
"Yes." The celestial children immediately led the celestial official to fetch the wine, and soon brought back a large jar of celestial brew.
Sun Wukong eagerly opened the jar, and instantly a rich and refreshing aroma of wine wafted out. Sun Wukong shuddered and exclaimed, "Good wine, good wine!"
After saying that, he reached out and scooped up a handful of the rich liquor and poured it into his mouth. After just one sip, his eyes lit up and his whole body trembled.
"Delicious! Good wine!" Sun Wukong laughed loudly, then picked up the wine bowl and began scooping wine from the jar one bowl at a time without saying a word.
Laozi (the Supreme Lord Lao) quickly stepped forward and advised, "Drink less. This wine is extremely strong and you should not drink too much."
Sun Wukong shoved Laozi aside, his voice already tinged with drunkenness, "I'm telling you, old man, since you've brought out the wine, don't be so stingy. I know my limits; a few bowls will suffice."
As he spoke, he scooped out five or six more bowls, drinking until his eyes were bloodshot, his whole body was hot, and he collapsed onto the wine jar, still scooping out wine.
In the blink of an eye, he had already drunk twenty or thirty bowls. When he reached the thirty-sixth bowl, Sun Wukong suddenly froze, then his hand holding the bowl fell limply to his side, and he fell fast asleep, hugging the wine jar.
Seeing this, the two attendants were astonished and immediately looked at Laozi, "Master, this..."
Laozi waved his hand and said with a smile, "Although this monkey has an indestructible body, he inevitably gets physically and mentally exhausted while protecting Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West. This wine contains my Vajra Elixir of Power, which is enough to relieve his fatigue and stabilize his indestructible body. Once he wakes up, all his fatigue will be gone."
After saying this, Laozi waved his whisk and said, "You all stay here and serve him, and don't let anyone disturb him."
Upon hearing this, the two celestial children immediately bowed and replied, "Yes, sir."
At this moment, a celestial official came to report that two minor officials from the Imperial Stables had come to see the Moon Goddess with her talisman.
Laozi was not surprised at all and said, "Bring them both here to see me."
"Yes." The celestial official bowed and accepted the order, then turned and left.
Soon after, the minor officials from the Imperial Horse Stables arrived at the Jingdu Hall and hurriedly kowtowed to pay homage to Laozi.
With a wave of his whisk, Laozi helped the minor officials to their feet. Then, Laozi pointed at Sun Wukong, who was fast asleep while clutching a wine jar, and said, "You've come to see him, haven't you?"
The clerks turned their heads and looked, then paused in surprise, saying, "That's right."
Then another minor official said, "Reporting to Laozi, Tang Sanzang's three disciples sent a letter from the underworld. It seems something has happened, and they want to find the Great Sage Equal to Heaven."
Laozi shook his head and said, "This monkey has drunk my fine wine, and I'm afraid he won't wake up for a while."
The officials looked at Sun Wukong and, sure enough, saw him fast asleep on the wine jar.
Then a minor official asked, "Laojun, may I ask when the Great Sage will awaken?"
Lao Tzu said, "It will take at least forty-nine days to refine the effects of the wine."
The minor officials were taken aback and didn't know what to do.
Laozi then said, "You can go back and report this matter to the Supervisor, and have him forward the letter to the Thunder Department."
Upon hearing this, the minor officials immediately bowed and said, "Yes, thank you for your guidance, Laozi."
Lao Tzu smiled slightly and waved his whisk, saying, "Go."
After the minor officials returned from the Tushita Palace and reported the matter to the supervisor, the supervisor had no other choice but to follow Laozi's advice and forward the letter to the Thunder Department.
After receiving the letter, Tianpeng Zhenjun of the Thunder Department immediately opened it and began to read it.
After reading it, Tianpeng Zhenjun finally understood what had happened. He immediately exclaimed in astonishment, "This monster killed Ao Lie, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing in a single exchange. Is this monster really that powerful?"
Tianyou Zhenjun asked, "Has Tang Sanzang encountered trouble again?"
Tianpeng Zhenjun handed the letters from Xiaobailong and the other two to Tianyou Zhenjun. After reading them, Tianyou Zhenjun laughed and said, "It must be that monster's magic weapon that is powerful. The letter mentions that the monster has a magic weapon that looks like a glass bottle."
Tianpeng Zhenjun said, "It's no use giving us this letter. It doesn't contain any words of appeal to the Heavenly Court. Human affairs are the responsibility of Lingtai Zhenjun, and we can't interfere."
Tianyou Zhenjun laughed and said, "Perhaps it's meant for us to pass on to Lingtai Zhenjun?"
After thinking for a moment, Tianpeng Zhenjun asked, "Has the Thunder Department office on Buzhou Mountain been set up yet?"
Tianyou Zhenjun said, "It has already been arranged, with General Leiwei serving as the commander."
Tianpeng Zhenjun said, "Then let General Leiwei pass this letter on to Lingtai Zhenjun, and also tell him about the Great Sage Equaling Heaven getting drunk."
After saying this, Tianpeng Zhenjun summoned his subordinate, the Imperial Envoy, and ordered him to handle the matter.
Soon after, the letters from the three of them, including the White Dragon, fell into Chi Ling's hands. After reading them, Chi Ling had the Underworld Envoy Pei Jue send them back to Ksitigarbha, adding a note that Sun Wukong was drunk.
So when the three of them, who were full of anticipation, received the letter, they were stunned when they opened it.
"Isn't this the letter we wrote?" Pigsy asked.
So the three of them flipped to the very end and finally understood. The letter first went to the Heavenly Court's Reporting Office, which then sent it to the Imperial Horse Administration. The Imperial Horse Administration sent someone to find Sun Wukong, who was found drunk at Laozi's place. The letter was then passed to the Thunder Department, which went to Mount Buzhou, and finally returned to the Underworld intact.
After reading this, the White Dragon and Sandy looked at each other in dismay, while Pigsy started cursing: "That damned monkey! We told him to tend the horses, but instead he went to drink at Laozi's place! He got completely drunk and won't wake up for forty-nine days! By then, my one-month celebration will have already passed!"
Pigsy was cursing incessantly, his curses filled with personal emotions.
Little White Dragon, however, remained calm and said, "Our eldest brother is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. He rarely goes to Heaven, so he has to visit various deities and socialize. Besides, he didn't know about the Buddhist treasures of the Zhao family beforehand, so we can't blame him."
Sha Wujing nodded and asked, "Second Brother, what should we do now?"
The little white dragon said, "We can only ask for help. Our eldest brother will not wake up for forty-nine days, but we can't wait that long. Right now, only our master is here, and we can't guarantee that we won't encounter some monsters again."
Sha Wujing asked, "From whom should we ask for help?"
The little white dragon said, "Let's ask Guanyin Bodhisattva for help."
Sha Wujing asked, "Was it another dream?"
The little white dragon shook his head and said, "The Bodhisattva's great power covers the three realms. As long as we pray sincerely, the Bodhisattva will be able to respond."
Sha Wujing nodded and said, "Then let's pray to the Bodhisattva now." After saying that, he sat down cross-legged.
The White Dragon also sat down cross-legged. After Pigsy finished cursing, he felt a little better, but he was still a little grumbling: "That monkey is enjoying himself in the Heavenly Palace, leaving us here to worry. Humph, you all pray, I'm going to take a nap first."
As Zhu Bajie spoke, he sat down on a chair to the side. But just as he sat down, a ghost from the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Temple walked in and said, "The three of you have your bundles."
"Oh?" The White Dragon and Sandy, who were closing their eyes to pray, opened their eyes, and Pigsy also sat up.
At this moment, the ghost god entered with three ghost soldiers and presented three bundles to the three men. The three men opened them in confusion and were then stunned.
Inside the three bulging bundles was a thick bundle of paper money, all of which was from the Heaven and Earth Bank.
The inscription on the bundle was signed by Xuanzang, a monk from the Great Tang Dynasty in the East.
Pigsy exclaimed in surprise, "Master really burned paper money for us?!"
The White Dragon Horse and Sandy looked at each other, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. (End of Chapter)
