Chapter 2: Dumbledore

Chapter 2: Dumbledore

Wu's Orphanage.

in the corridor.

Dumbledore looked around.

There were complex memories in his eyes - the decoration here seemed to have not changed at all over the years.

"Ms. Elena, I'm here for Ian Prince."

Dumbledore entered the office after being received by the director of the orphanage. His arrival seemed to dispel any chill that might have remained in the room.

"He needs to finish a degree."

The sunlight shone through the stained glass windows onto Dumbledore's long silver hair and beard, casting a soft and mysterious glow on the elderly wizard.

"Oh! That's really good!"

The dean, named Elena, is a fifty-year-old woman with gray hair and a very friendly smile.

She warmly invited Dumbledore to sit down and made him a cup of black tea - very cheap tea with a stale taste.

"Ian Prince is a good kid and a very precocious one. He can't play with the other kids in the orphanage and always has his own ideas to do things."

Facing Elena's introduction.

Dumbledore mused.

He put down the tea that Elena poured for him.

"Ms. Elena, are you saying that Ian Prince is a very lonely child?"

Dumbledore's gaze.

This made the orphanage director Elena stunned for a moment.

immediately.

She quickly shook her head to explain.

"No, no, you misunderstood me. Perhaps I should explain it to you this way. Ian is just a very precocious child. Those children want to play with him, but Ian just doesn't like playing with those children."

Elena paused and said, "Ian once said that children's playing house is really boring and too childish. He might as well play with birds with this time."

"Playing with birds? It's a good hobby. It seems that Mr. Ian Prince is the kind of kid who likes animals."

Dumbledore seemed relieved.

Laughing and joking.

"It looks like an owl is in his future."

Hear the words.

Elena was stunned for a moment.

but.

Still kept smiling and said good things about Ian.

“Ian is a child who, although he thinks the other children are childish, he still takes good care of his younger brothers and sisters.”

"He was only eleven years old, but he was already sneaking out to earn money, and then buying flour and vegetables to fill the kitchen... He remembered every child's birthday."

"He would also buy candy for his brothers and sisters."

Elena said this with great relief, but suddenly she seemed a little sad and sighed with self-blame.

"It's also because the social environment is not good now, and it's hard for the orphanage to get donations. Of course, it's also because I don't have any skills, and I still need a child to go out and make money..."

Elena looked upset.

"You don't need to blame yourself. You have done well enough. There have been great changes here. I can feel it." Dumbledore even used honorifics for Elena, who was probably half a century younger than him.

He was comforting the other person sincerely.

“Have you been here before?”

Elena was a little surprised.

“This isn’t my first visit.”

Dumbledore smiled slightly.

Elena didn't ask any further questions.

She was more concerned about adoption.

"Old man, if you want to take Ian away from the orphanage, please believe me, he must be a great kid." Elena sincerely hopes that such a sensible child can find a good home.

"Then, can I see him?"

Dumbledore smiled and spoke.

Under the influence of the Confusion Spell.

Some of Elena's perceptions may deviate from the facts.

This does not need to be corrected.

"Of course! Of course! Old sir!" Lady Elena was delighted. She stood up and said to Dumbledore, "Please wait for me."

As soon as Elena walked out, she saw Ian, who had just returned, in the yard.

An eager smile suddenly appeared on her face, and she waved at him while shouting.

"Ian, come here!"

Ian pushed the cart.

A child immediately ran over and hugged him: "Ian, it seems that your big event is coming! Go quickly and don't keep Ms. Elena waiting for too long."

In the orphanage, everyone will be adopted and call it a big deal.

After all, for these homeless children, nothing is more important than being adopted.

of course.

Ian is different.

He knew this wasn't an adoption.

With trepidation.

Ian was dragged to the office.

"It sure is him!"

I had glimpsed it before, and now I was sure that the person in the office was Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts and the greatest wizard of this century.

"do not worry."

Ian hadn't spoken yet.

Then he saw Dumbledore observing him.

"Child, I need to tell you a fact, you are a wizard."

With Ian pretending to be surprised.

Dumbledore's eyes were deep.

"I guess you must have discovered the difference between yourself and others very early on." His eyes did not look cloudy, but rather as pure as a child's.

"Forehead."

Ian did not answer immediately. He first looked up at Ms. Elena and found that her expression remained unchanged, as if she did not hear what the old man was saying.

Is this a confusion spell?
Force yourself to calm down.

He avoided Dumbledore's gaze. "That's true. I discovered this a long time ago. Sometimes I stare at a glass of water and it will shake a few times. So, is this the power of wizards?"

Ian didn't dare pretend to be ignorant.

His answer made Dumbledore smile and nod.

"Yes, this is the magic in your body at work. Sometimes, when you are angry with someone, the fluctuations of this magic will be more intense."

Dumbledore spoke softly.

But to Ian, this sounded too much like fishing. What do you mean when you are angry, the fluctuations will be more intense? I am not Tom Yodel!
"Sir, I rarely get angry at others because being swayed by emotions won't solve the problem." Ian still responded in a calm and gentle tone on the surface.

Dumbledore seemed very satisfied with his answer.

Dumbledore smiled.

As he nodded, his beard trembled.

"You are a very smart child. Ms. Elena is right. You are indeed precocious." Dumbledore looked at Ian with his old eyes and spoke slowly.

"Hogwarts is the magic school that wizards all over the world want to join. There, you can learn all the witchcraft in the world, as well as various magical creatures."

"Don't be nervous, Mr. Ian Prince. As the headmaster of Hogwarts College, I formally invite you and hope you can study at Hogwarts."

coming!

finally come!

Ian Prince was very nervous. Although he had only watched a few Hogwarts movies and a few Hermione fan fictions in his previous life, he had also heard of the name of Professor X of Hogwarts.

Ian was really worried that Dumbledore would be as unethical as in those conspiracy theory fan fictions.

"Are you worried about anything?"

Dumbledore saw Ian's emotions. He thought he was worried about Hogwarts, so he said softly, "In Hogwarts, there are flying harpies, trees that can hit people, and most importantly, there are a group of children of your age. You will learn magic together."

"Don't worry about the process of learning magic, Ian. In fact, a great wizard once walked out of your orphanage."

Dumbledore suddenly lost himself in memories, his tone was sad.

Upon hearing this.

Ian became even more nervous.

Why is he nervous?
Isn’t it clear how “amazing” the man who walked out of this orphanage is!

"That wizard, is he still in Hogwarts?"

Ian forced himself to pretend to be curious.

Dumbledore was interrupted from his memories by Ian's voice and shook his head.

"In fact, he has been away from Hogwarts for a long, long time, and has lost his way."

Dumbledore finished speaking earnestly.

Ian thought he was going to say something critical, but the old man just changed the subject and spoke slowly with a tone of regret and a hint of regret: "However, this does not affect his extraordinary achievements. It's just that he could have gone further."

Ian looked at Dumbledore seemingly blankly, but various thoughts were emerging in his mind.

Dumbledore's words seemed to be a sigh.

Is it a warning?
Or a test?

Damn it! I blame those Harry Potter fan fictions for my damn paranoia - Ian restrained his imagination and tried his best not to let his imagination run wild.

"Kid, have you made a decision?"

Dumbledore's voice rang in his ears.

"Um... then let's give it a try?"

Ian had been waiting for this day and certainly would not choose to refuse.

"It's a wise choice. Hogwarts will send you a letter of admission in half a month. Then someone will take you to buy the things you need for admission."

Dumbledore smiled at Ian.

Ian shrugged and politely refused, "Sorry, old man, even if I want to enroll, it's useless because I have no money. I can't afford the tuition."

Dumbledore had stood up and picked up his hat from the hat rack.

At this time, Elena suddenly stood up and said to Dumbledore: "Thank you, Ian will definitely go in half a month."

Ian was stunned, then reacted.

This is the power of the Confusion Spell. I don’t know what scene Elena saw, but it is obvious that she could not see the real conversation between Ian and Dumbledore.

Dumbledore didn't speak to Elena, but smiled and said to Ian.

"You don't need to worry about money. First of all, the school has a scholarship fund. Secondly, the person who comes to pick you up won't ask you to pay. He... feels that he owes you a lot."

talking.

Dumbledore took a step forward.

Ian was stunned again, and stood up involuntarily, looking at Dumbledore who was walking out the door.

"Who? My parents?"

Are you still a pureblood?
This came as a surprise to Ian.

"It is not for me to reveal the answer." Dumbledore just blinked, gestured goodbye to Ian, and spoke in a meaningful tone.

"Kid, you'll know when the time comes."

Say it.

He left without looking back.

Elena was so happy that she went out to see him off.

Ian opened his mouth, said nothing, turned around and left, returning to his room.

That night.

Ian lay in bed and kept thinking, was it because of the Wu Orphanage or because his original surname was supposed to be Ian Riddle that Dumbledore came to his house early?

Or maybe.

Is it Prince himself?
Is there such a pure-blood surname in the original novel?
Thinking about it.

Ian felt his eyes become heavy.

next moment.

He slowly turned from drowsiness to wakefulness, as if he had crossed some kind of boundary - at the horizon, a ray of rosy glow was wrapped around the gradient blue screen like a silk ribbon, and the woods in the distance looked like a fairyland in a fairy tale, with lush green trees. A bird flew over the treetops, its song clear and pleasant.

Under this picturesque sky, everything is rendered in dreamy colors, making people feel as if they are in an exquisite painting, and their souls gain unprecedented tranquility and cleansing.

Ian opened his eyes and looked at the breathtaking scenery before him.

"You're here again."

A soft voice sounded in my ears.

"I almost forgot, today is Saturday."

Ian turned and looked at the girl walking out of the woods.

She was wearing a blue dress, with long golden hair draped over her shoulders, and she looked at Ian with a pure face.

"Ariana, I met a scary old man today, and I forgot to bring you candy."

He said this to the girl.
