Chapter 697 The Will of the Hive: A Swarm of Super Heroes, Enough Already!
Chapter 697 The Will of the Hive: A bunch of super-powerful beings, enough is enough!
"Fugen."
A hoarse murmur came from the mouth of the mixture of Fabius, the deformed father, and the Norn queen in front of Fugen.
The Hive Will clearly recognized Fabius's value. It devoured Fabius, but instead of destroying him, it molded him into his current form, using his will, his intelligence, and his understanding of biological genes to serve itself.
The enormous insect egg hanging from Fabius's abdominal cavity twitched and convulsed. Within one of the egg follicles, a Tyranid creature rapidly formed and burst forth.
It was a quadrupedal Tyranid behemoth, but its foremost limbs, instead of the sickle-like claws common to Tyranid creatures, possessed a pair of tearing claws resembling wolf claws. Its head was also much larger than that of a typical Tyranid, vaguely showing some canine characteristics. Sharp claws grew from its mouth, and traces of psionic organs could be faintly seen on the back of its head.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex moved swiftly, like a giant wolf in a snowy plain, pouncing towards Fugen and his Phoenix Squad.
The tearing claws lashed out, transforming into a winter blizzard that crashed down on Fugen and the Phoenix Child.
But just before the claws fell, the Forgebreaker's warhammer transformed into an equally dazzling hammer blast, blocking the pair of sharp, tearing claws.
“Ruth,” Fugen murmured the name of his barbarian brother. He could immediately tell whose genes were integrated into the genetic sequence of this Tyrannical creature.
Just as Fugen uttered the name, the Tyrannosaurus opened its mouth, its enormous head instantly unfolding like flower petals. Its gaping maw was even larger than Fugen's body, filled with countless sharp tentacles, clawed tongues, and thorns. These densely packed predatory organs pounced on Fugen like a pack of wolves.
Thanks to Fabius's past teachings, Fugen quickly figured out the design concept behind this behemoth: a gluttonous behemoth created by modifying Rus's genetic sequence, using the Tyrannosaurus as a template.
"As expected of the number one glutton in the galaxy, even Russ, who is as small as an insect, is the one who can eat the most."
Fugen laughed heartily, and orange-red flames burst forth from the Broken Furnace. The intense heat caused the ferocious predatory maws to retract several centimeters. Taking advantage of the moment, Fugen flashed forward, exposing the enormous maws of the Rusmon to the Phoenix Child squad.
In an instant, a dense barrage of firepower wove into a net and shot towards Rusmon.
But Rusmon's beastly eyes narrowed sharply, and a surge of spiritual energy erupted, instantly forming a barrier that blocked the Phoenix Child's barrage of fire.
But the court swordsmen of the Phoenix Sons flashed past, instantly crossing the psionic barrier. Each of them was equipped with a phase weapon provided by the Necromancers, its sharp emerald blades humming as they pierced towards the body of the Rusmon.
Rusmon had to dodge and barely escaped from the net.
Although this behemoth used Ruth's genetic sequence, it was far inferior to the real Ruth, and even less so to a pure clone.
Fabius clearly didn't dare create pure clones, because the Primarch's genetic sequence was so powerful that its instincts and genetic memories alone could rival the Tyranid genetic sequence and resist the control of the Hive's will.
A fully cloned Primarch will not be subject to the Hive's will and will likely view the Swarm as an enemy due to instincts inherent in its genes.
Even these Tyranids, who have integrated parts of the Primarch's gene sequence, require Fabius to expend mental energy to suppress their genetic memories and instincts.
Fugen left the Rusmon to the Phoenix Children to deal with, and charged towards Fabius alone.
But then the ground trembled and collapsed, and a Tyrannosaurus creature resembling a giant python emerged from directly beneath Fugen's body. Clearly, it was a burrowing python, but unlike any other, this one was entirely covered in thick carapace, even its head was encased in a hood-like armor. Its six scythe-like limbs had all atrophied and degenerated into long, thin tentacles, sprouting numerous ugly venom glands. These glands extended all the way down its back, forming swollen tumors that sprayed copious amounts of mist-like venom, corroding the ground around its limbs.
Its tail was no longer a spike, but a huge, sharp bio-scythe, swirling with poisonous gas like a dark cloud, as it stabbed towards Fugen.
It is evident that this creature is based on the Digging Serpent, incorporating elements of the Venomous Smoke Beast and integrating Mortarian genes, giving this behemoth extraordinary toughness and venom resistance.
It is precisely because of the toxin resistance brought by the Mortalian gene sequence that this burrowing python can produce several toxins that the Hive Will had designed long ago but could never produce. These toxins were designed by a race outside the galaxy to resist the Tyranid swarm. They are powerful, but if produced by other Tyranid creatures, they may even poison the creatures themselves.
The toxic gas approaching Fugen contained billions of nano-sized insects, each capable of secreting a highly concentrated corrosive liquid. Powered by bio-coils the size of their own DNA, these nano-insects used tiny drills at their tips to pump into the target's body.
In an instant, a dense cloud of bubbles appeared on Fugen's power armor.
Fugen realized that this Mortalian Python had likely been meticulously designed by Fabius and the will of the hive, and its strength far exceeded that of the Russ Beast from before.
Fugen hurriedly retreated, trying to create distance between himself and the Mortarian python.
But at that moment, the Mortarian python's tail lashed out, its sharp blade carrying a completely different kind of venom as it approached Fuggen.
Within the nanobots in the poisonous gas, bio-coils pumped out a positron and an electron. The two electrons instantly annihilated, releasing 550,000 electron volts of energy. Countless nanobots combined together, and a blinding light was released from the scythe, instantly engulfing Fugen's body.
But in the blink of an eye, Fugen's figure passed through the light and the poisonous gas, rushing towards the giant insect at a speed that the Mortarian python could not react to.
Beside Fugen, a miniature Doraemon held an adaptive lamp, silently shining it on Fugen before vanishing into thin air in an instant.
The Mortarian python reacted swiftly, its hood-like carapace closing rapidly to cover its brain. The hammer struck the carapace with a dull thud; combined with the toughness endowed by the Mortarian genes, the carapace actually withstood Fugan's hammer blow.
But Fugen took a deep breath, feeling the ever-increasing power within him, the storm of purple and gold intertwined.
His face twisted and contorted into a grotesque grimace, like a venomous snake. A purple afterimage burst forth from the Brokensmith's warhammer, tearing through the Mortarion Serpent's carapace and smashing the giant insect's head to pieces.
“You are more complete now.” Fabius gazed at Fugen, beneath Fabius’s writhing abdomen, three new Tyranid creatures had been born.
One of them was a cerebrate tyrant, but its size was unusually enormous. Its massive brain tissue was five or six meters tall, and a single eye hung below it, with scarlet tentacles extending from around it. The spiritual power emanating from its body was terrifying; just looking at it would send shivers down one's spine.
Behind this cerebrate tyrant stood two hive tyrants.
The one on the left is enormous, its entire body encased in thick chitinous armor. Dozens of writhing tentacles extend from its head, piercing into the chitinous structure, clearly enhancing this tyrant's ability as a neural node. Its four arms are equipped with twin heavy venom cannons and twin crushing pincers, respectively, and it carries a flamethrower on its back. Six tyrant guards surround it, like its six fingers.
The one on the right wields a crimson greatsword in both hands and a heavily armored shield as thick as a city wall. It is also surrounded by six tyrant guards, each wielding a sword and shield in both hands, forming a formidable wall around it.
Magnus, Peturabo, and Dorn
Magnus's single eye, which had been bulging in his brain, suddenly contracted. The smell of ozone in the air became sharp and pungent, and streaks of psionic lightning shot towards Fuggen.
Just then, Fugen's Phoenix Guard caught up with him, forming ranks around him. Their powerful psychic energy coalesced into a shield.
The psionic lightning released by Magnus's brainstorming was deflected by the psionic power released by the Phoenix Guard, which kept it a meter away.
At that moment, Tyrant Perturabo raised a pair of heavy venom cannons beneath him and began to unleash his firepower. The six Tyrant Guards surrounding him did the same. The terrifying firepower pressed down on the psionic barrier erected by the Phoenix Guard, causing the entire barrier to tremble and shake repeatedly.
The Phoenix Guard did not stand idly by and wait to be killed; instead, they turned around and unleashed their firepower on the Tyranid creatures.
However, the Dornish tyrant, leading his Tyrant Guard, formed an impenetrable wall, steadily advancing step by step, resisting the Phoenix Guard's firepower and protecting the Magnus Brain Worm and the Peturabo tyrant.
This made Fugen feel threatened.
In a duel, the most dangerous Primarchs are Fergen and Lane.
In a battle, the most dangerous Primarchs were Angron and Sangiles.
In a war, the most dangerous Primarchs are Pherous and Horus.
Overall, Guilliman is the most dangerous.
In one battle, the most dangerous were Perturabo and Dorne.
Without Peturabo, the rebels would never have been able to complete the siege of Terra.
Without Dorne, the Loyalists would never have been able to hold out in Terra Palace.
Even though these two tyrants are merely insectoids possessing the traits of Perturabo and Dorne, as members of the Terran swarm, the Perturabo and Dorne tyrants, capable of cooperating, are still extremely dangerous.
Just as Fugen was on high alert, something unexpected happened.
The tyrant Perturabo, leading his tyrant guards, emerged from behind the formidable wall erected by the Dornish tyrant, and without hesitation ran past him, taking the lead and charging towards Fulgrim.
Their posture suggested they were determined to stay one step ahead of the Dornish tyrant and were absolutely unwilling to be protected by him.
Fugen was stunned for a moment, and Fabius was clearly also taken aback, seemingly not understanding why the tyrant Perturabo had suddenly lost control.
After a moment of stunned silence, Fugen remembered what Zhou Yun had once said: "Even if it's a pile of shit, as long as Dorn is protecting it, Perturabo will snatch it and eat it without hesitation."
This is just a bug that integrates a portion of Perturabo's gene sequence. Just how strong is Perturabo's resentment towards Dorne? Just the genetic memory in a portion of his genes is enough to suppress the nature of the Tyrannical creatures, making him willing to expose himself to danger rather than fall behind the Dornish tyrant.
Although he found it extremely difficult, Fugen didn't let the opportunity slip by.
Without hesitation, he took a step forward, brandishing his Forgebreaker warhammer as he charged towards Tyrant Perturab. Tyrant Perturab raised his crushing pincers high to meet the attack head-on, while his six tyrant guards surrounded Fugen. The warhammer, glowing with the light of the forge's fire, roared and instantly crushed two of the tyrant guards, forcing Tyrant Perturab back.
The Dornish tyrant charged forward, attempting to strike Foulgen with his shield.
But the Perturabo tyrant beside him slightly tilted his shoulder, actually knocking the Dornish tyrant aside. This was still the Perturabo gene sequence within the tyrant at work; the stubborn and twisted memories in his genes were influencing the Perturabo tyrant, making him difficult for Fabius to control.
If the Hive Will had intervened personally, it might have been able to suppress the situation. However, after Zhou Yun took over the controller in place of Ohm Messiah Suneo, the Hive Will became increasingly disadvantaged in its battle with Doraemon and was unable to spare any attention. Even the Hive Will's control over Fabius fluctuated, and Fabius's will showed a slight resurgence.
Om Messiah Suneo had silently planted a seed of inspiration within Fabius's will, and a vision appeared before Fabius's eyes.
He saw the figure of Om Messiah, and he saw the will of Melusin Fabius in Om Messiah's hand begin to fluctuate strongly.
The genetic memories and instincts that he had previously suppressed within the Primarch's genes began to erupt.
Magnus, the brain-worm attempting to attack Fugen with psionic energy, froze for a moment, then suddenly twisted its body, unleashing sharp psionic lightning bolts at the Rusmon, who was entangled in battle with the Phoenix Spawns.
The Rusmon was struck squarely by the sudden psionic lightning. The colossal beast roared and, abandoning the Phoenix Spawns, charged straight at the Magnus Brain Worm.
The tyrant Perturabo acted swiftly, immediately leading his tyrant guards into battle against the tyrant of Dorne.
The insectoid hive's will attempted to suppress its own will and micromanage them, but Zhou Yun's perfectly timed circular hand strike interrupted it.
The will of the insect hive emitted a sharp cry, its emotions manifesting as a vicious roar that echoed in Zhou Yun's ears.
Zhou Yun could understand what the insect hive's will was insulting.
He was insulting the Emperor, questioning why the Emperor had designed the Primarch to be so superhuman.
