Chapter 671 Injecting Lena's Genes!
Chapter 671 Injecting Lena's Genes!
"Bayer?"
"son?"
"Father?"
Fugen couldn't help but utter three names in quick succession, turning his head to look at the corner at the end of the dark corridor.
A figure twisted and turned, sometimes splitting into three parts, sometimes merging into one, appearing rather strange and distorted. A faint aura of Slaanesh emanated from it, yet Fugen could also sense that the figure was resisting Slaanesh's gifts and corruption.
So Fugen subconsciously thought it was Bayer. Bayer always refused to acknowledge the existence of the gods, and Slaanesh's corruption always lingered around him, but Bayer seemed completely unaware, as if nothing had happened.
".Primarch?"
"Father?"
The figure emerged from around the corner, looking at Fugen with a slightly puzzled expression.
The face, which resembled a blend of Taviz and Lucius, appeared and disappeared in the shadows.
Fugen paused for a moment, then realized it was Thor, the Chapter Master of the Phoenix Sons, who had once claimed to be the son of Rogue Dorne but was in fact his own progenitor.
The Primarch felt ashamed and slightly annoyed that he had revealed his vulnerability to his offspring.
If it were the real Forgrim, he should have drawn his blade right now and swiftly and decisively severed Thor's head, punishing him for seeing his own imperfections.
Foggrim did indeed do that.
Fugen could see from his memory that Fugrim had swung his sword in the same way he had beheaded Edoron.
That gloomy memory lingered in Fugen's mind, stimulating his nerves and turning into a few low murmurs that seemed to come from the depths of his soul, urging him to do something similar.
Ever since he killed the fake Felus on Dragonlin Star, Fugen has been hearing whispers in his ear.
Fugan initially suspected this was some kind of corruption, some kind of depravity, but he eventually became convinced that he had not been influenced by anything external, and that no extraneous forces from the warp had invaded his mind.
He later suspected that this was the awakening of some kind of psychic talent, but Fugen tried many times and was never able to unleash his psychic power.
In the end, Fugen could only conclude that the voice was part of his inner self, a subconscious, a side of his psyche, or worse, a manifestation of the dark and terrifying memories of Fugorim within him; it was his dark, depraved, and imperfect side, a thought he was unwilling to acknowledge but which did exist.
Fugen believed he should reflect on this and correct his thinking.
He suppressed his irrational impulse and instead smiled at Saul.
“Saul, my child, I cannot be your father, your uncle, or the shame you try to erase, the enemy you hate forever, the idol you can't forget, the object of your envy, the role model you seek, the replica of the resurrected purple phoenix and the fallen serpent.”
Fugen chose to cover up his embarrassment with a small, playful joke.
Saul's expression stiffened for a moment, as expected; his feelings for Fugan were indeed that complex.
He viewed Forgrim as an enemy, as did the lingering will of Taviz deep within his soul. As Forgrim's clone, he also always exuded an aura of perishability.
Simply put, Fugen is like a young girl wearing only a semi-transparent veil, walking alone on the streets of the Slaanesh demon world late at night, her entire being screaming "fertility."
For this reason, Thor was always filled with suspicion, distrust, and vigilance towards Fuchs, fearing that this Primarch clone would become corrupt and degenerate.
But Saul was always irresistibly drawn to Fuchs, instinctively loyal to him, obedient to his commands, honored to be by his side, and thrilled by his praise.
Along with the memories hidden in his genetic seed, those recollections of the perfect image of the purple phoenix, they always echoed in Thor's mind and overlapped with Fugen's.
Therefore, although there was a hint of mockery in Faugen's words, Saul had to admit that Faugen was both a shame he tried to erase and an enemy he hated for eternity, as well as an idol he could not forget, a role model he sought, and a respected father.
"The mechanical ark, Explorer King, belonging to the great sage Belisarius Doraemon, has arrived in the star system, and he will soon set foot on the land of Murder Star." To alleviate the strange feeling brought on by the complex emotions in his heart, Thor chose to forcefully change the topic back to business.
"It's faster than I expected. It seems our Great Sage has made progress in the research on arbitrary star gates again," Fugen said with a smile.
Thor nodded in agreement.
"Since Doraemon ascended, many technologies that had stagnated for years have begun to develop again, artificial intelligence has been revived, many things that were once complicated have become simple, and the power of Mini Doraemon is even greater," Thor said with a hint of reverence.
But his words made Fugen frown slightly.
“You must not make machines, and think like a man,” Fugen said softly.
Thor looked slightly puzzled.
“This is an ancient proverb passed down from the time of the Iron Man Rebellion,” Fugen said with a smile. “People often think it’s a warning to be wary that once machines have human thoughts, they will be beyond human control.”
"But I believe this statement is not a warning to machines, but a warning to people."
When machines can replace human thought, will humans still need to think?
"Man is a thinking reed. If a person cannot think, can he still be called a man?"
"Conversely, are machines that can think like humans more human than humans who cannot think?"
Thor was speechless for a moment.
Which is more human, a person who doesn't think or a machine that thinks like a human?
"Thor, the reason that lord has revived artificial intelligence is not because the problems with artificial intelligence have disappeared. Indeed, artificial intelligence is no longer capable of betraying humanity."
"But in our private meetings among the Primarchs, we began to believe that the Iron Man rebellion was not solely due to his disloyalty."
"Perhaps the reason that AI is allowed to recover is simply because we are about to face an even greater crisis before the crisis brought about by AI emerges."
"So you must remember that machines can assist your thinking, but they can never replace your thinking."
“I understand, sir,” Thor said humbly, bowing his head.
Fugen smiled slightly.
"In this respect, artificial intelligence is very similar to God."
Upon hearing this, Thor once again expressed his confusion.
"They all aim to create a wisdom that surpasses human intelligence, to replace the human mind in thinking."
"Whether it's artificial intelligence or faith, Kaul is the best at it." "You might think his technological breakthroughs come from the restoration of artificial intelligence and Mini-Dora, but Kaul has actually been using his own mind more than artificial intelligence and faith."
Thor was taken aback, surprised that Kaul had achieved something comparable to those mechanical sages who used Mini-Dora and artificial intelligence to think, solely through his own intelligence.
"But how are you doing?" Fugen asked Thor as they walked out of the lab.
“I can barely suppress his will, slowly extracting swordsmanship and power from it,” Thor told Fugen, extending his left hand and clenching it a few times, as if sensing the power within him.
Lucius, the chosen one of Slaanesh, still has his soul within Thor's body.
Lucius originally cooperated with Thor, providing him with considerable power. However, after Doraemon's ascension, Lucius has been trying to possess Thor's body.
Fortunately, Fougen was there at the time; his mere presence suppressed Lucius's soul.
Then Fugen pleaded with Saint-Gilles for help.
Saint Gilles gave Thor two options.
First, Saint Gilles used his own psychic powers to borrow some of the Emperor's psychic power from the Star Torch, directly burning Lucius's soul to ashes. However, the problem is that Lucius's soul and Thor's soul are already stuck together, which may bring some side effects. But then, he can ask Saint Doraemon's power to heal him.
Secondly, Sangilius used a method to help Thor suppress Lucius, giving Thor the opportunity to resist Lucius's possession with his willpower. In this process, Thor could also slowly take over Lucius's memories, swordsmanship, and power, making him completely internalize them as his own. The downside is that he might be corrupted by Slaanesh if he's not careful.
For Saul himself, the first option was the best, with almost no side effects and minimal risk.
But option two has other value.
Saint Gilles tells Thor that Slaanesh has invested some of his power in him, clearly hoping that Thor will become His new chosen one, thereby corrupting the entire Phoenix and the Felguard.
The longer Thor persists, the more power Slaanesh wastes, which is more beneficial to the overall situation.
Thor ultimately chose the second option.
It wasn't just for the sake of the bigger picture; there was another reason. Thor vaguely sensed that an even bigger war was coming, an era where, like the Great Crusade, one could achieve great deeds.
He hoped to gain more power to lead the Phoenix Son to greater glory and wash away the stain on the Emperor Son.
Ultimately, Sanguires obtained a wisp of Lady Rena's psychic energy, amplified it, and injected it into Thor's body. The purpose of this psychic energy was to temporarily empty Thor's mind for a few seconds when Lucius's possession and Slaanesh's corruption struck, giving Thor a chance to resist the corruption with his own will.
“If you are possessed or corrupted, I will preserve your last shred of dignity,” Fugen whispered to Thor.
Saul understood what Fugen meant.
Fugan will personally give Saul an ending.
“Me too, Father,” Saul said, looking at Fugen. “I will not let our honor be tarnished again.”
“This is difficult for you,” Fugen said with a smile.
“It’s easier than having your honor tarnished, and it’s easier than watching the phoenix turn into a serpent again,” Thor said in a low voice.
Fugen just smiled and said nothing more.
The two walked to the outside of Fabius's laboratory, and stood beneath a sky filled with dark clouds.
The Primalforged warriors of the Phoenix Command were patrolling nearby, with only a small clearing in front of Fugan and Thor.
A moment later, a click sounded from the open space, revealing a gigantic portal that had been dismantled into pieces and then reassembled with a series of ugly steel structures.
Amidst the billowing steam, the gate opened, and Belisarius Doraemon, clad in a crimson robe and resembling a giant metal insect, stepped out onto this desolate planet.
But what truly caught Fugen's attention was not Belisarius Caul, but an Astartes standing beside Caul.
The Astartes was wearing unpainted, metallic-colored power armor of an unknown model. It was taller than a typical Astartes and appeared to be a pre-cast Astartes.
But... Fugen showed a fleeting expression, like a cat reacting to stress.
This Astartes is very much like him and his brothers, not just one of them, but all of them.
His walk was as light as a shadow, reminding Fugan of Corax.
He clearly possessed psychic abilities, reminding Fugen of Magnus.
He seemed unfathomable and ambitious, reminding Fugen of Guilliman.
His imposing presence, like the igneous rock atop Medusa, reminded Fugen of Feralas.
His movements were almost flawless, reminding Fugen of himself.
The moment he saw him, Fugen realized what Belisarius Caul had created.
He was so bold, so audacious; he used the gene sequences from the Source Blood Stack—not just one, but all of them.
He wanted to create a Primarch that possessed not just the characteristics of one Primarch, but all the characteristics of all Primarchs.
A more "perfect" Primarch than the Primarch is obvious. Caul failed, but this failure still possesses extraordinary power.
Fugen felt a pang of jealousy towards him. The thought of him—as elegant as himself, as resilient as Feralas, as beautiful as Saint Gilles, as stealthy as Corax, and as ambitious as Guilliman—filled Fugen with a burning envy within him.
That voice, that voice from the depths of Fugen's being, a voice close to his very essence, rang out.
How can we allow something more perfect than the original to exist in this world?
How could a mortal create something beyond you?
Fugen smiled, trying his best to suppress the jealousy in his heart.
But that Astartes, the First One of the Primal Forged, stared at him, as if he could sense the emotions in his heart.
The idea instinctively popped into Fugen's mind in Angron.
Afterward, Fugen felt that most of his jealousy had subsided, as if it had been eliminated by the power of the Primal Forged Head.
Fugen was amazed by the original forger's skill, but what followed was not gratitude, but an even stronger jealousy.
Yuan Zhuzhi suddenly took a few steps back, a sense of fear rising in his soul, as if he had been frightened by Fugen's intense jealousy.
Looking at the disgraceful state of the original casting master, Fu Gen initially felt a sense of satisfaction, which was followed by intense guilt and shame.
He nodded slightly, expressing his apology to the original leader, then quickly looked at Caul and smiled:
"Welcome, Great Sage Belisarius Caul."
Caul looked down at Fugen, his fleshy eye twitching slightly: "Has your creator, your father, arrived?"
Fugen's smile froze slightly.
"The Great Raider, this drug comes from a precious genetic sequence that I obtained from a Slaanesh daemon. It is said that the Slaanesh daemon obtained it from a female officer in Kadia, but unfortunately I have not yet found the specific source of this genetic sequence."
"After injecting this drug, your mental resistance will be significantly enhanced, including resistance to pain and demonic influences, but the side effects are decreased cognitive abilities, decreased mathematical abilities, and your use of psychic energy will become purely instinctive."
"I'll give you the injection now."
The drug was pumped into the Hellbeast's body.
“Fabius, you have humiliated me, but you cannot humiliate me.”
"Although your drug may affect my willpower, it is unlikely that my willpower will be affected by your drug."
