Chapter 18 Mutants

"I'm really reluctant to say goodbye to Ryan Russ."

Monger walked on the street and couldn't help but sigh:
"He is indeed a heretic, even more heretical than us."

"Not only do they not believe in the Emperor, they don't even believe in other gods. How can there be such a heresy in the world?"

"He is indeed very scary, both in his manner and in his face."

"He has a very irritating mouth. If I were a minister of the Church of England, I would send him to the stake the moment he uttered the first word."

"But he is indeed a good and reliable man." Market finished the rest of the words for Monge.

"Not only reliable." Monger grabbed Market's arm and said, "Brother, have you seen what he is capable of?"

"He carried us through a mountain of heavy rubble using only a golden ring."

"I don't know how he managed to clear out an entire warehouse of weapons in one go."

"He can help us, he can help us find what we want."

Monger's tone was a little hurried, but Market hesitated a little.

"What we are looking for is right before our eyes." Markit looked towards the Corpse Guild not far away.

This building, which belongs to the Corpse Guild branch, is the tallest in the area, but it is luxuriously divided into only three floors.

In the hive, people die every moment. Their souls will return to the Golden Throne, and their bodies will return to the Corpse Guild, entering a cycle.
Made into corpse starch or circulating nutrient paste.

Their actions are extremely important to the nest.

It was the Corpse Guild's practice of recycling corpses that suppressed the spread of plague and disease in the city, and it was they who saved the hive from starvation.

They are the monopolists of the Pale Business, wealthy but considered unfortunate by the residents of the hive.

But at least the former Corpse Guild always maintained their faith in the Emperor.

According to the information that Markit learned from the data board at the PDF station,
The original corpse guild should be surrounded by unmutated human skulls, which symbolize purity.

In the courtyard stood a sacred statue of an angel, holding a spear and guarding the porch.
The walls are carved with double-headed eagles, symbols of the empire, seals of purity, and prayers from the Holy Word.

But now, the skulls of those pure humans were smashed into pieces, and some skulls with obvious deformities and mutations were placed in front of the door, staring at Monger and Markit who were approaching.

The double-headed eagle, the Seal of Purity, and the Holy Word prayer on the wall were altered by filth, turning them into strings of strange, blasphemous runes.

The only thing that survived was the statue of Sanguinius under the portico.
But the statue is surrounded by a three-circle symbol outlined in pus.

From Markit's perspective, it looked like a giant fly hovering around the statue of Sanguinius.

But Markit knew that the three circles of the symbol represented the perfect cycle of death, decay, and rebirth.

Yes, we will eventually die, and because of death we will be corrupted, and then reborn from corruption.
Markit thought to himself, closing his eyes with piety:

"We have what we are looking for, Monger."

"No." Monger shook his head: "There's only the key in here, we still have to find the door."

"We will find it, Monger, be patient." Markit said softly, and was about to walk into the door of the Corpse Guild.

"Wait." Monger called out to Market.

"Take off this hood before you go in." Monger said, "It's hanging on my horn, making me uncomfortable all the way." Market nodded approvingly. Now she didn't have to worry about exposing her identity and causing disgust and rejection.

As they spoke, Markit and Monger stretched out their hands, revealing their faces beneath their large hoods and the horns that had sprouted from their heads.

Markit's face was gaunt and purple, with a head full of withered gray hair. Extending from the left side of his hair, on his forehead, and beside his cheeks were brown and yellow horns, making him look like a beast or a demon.

The horns on Monger's body are more ferocious than those on Markit's. He has almost no hair, and only hideously growing black horns on his face and head, surrounding his almost beast-like face.

They are mutants, monsters living in the sewers of the Underhive, human variants that are not accepted by the Empire, and people who are not pure enough.

They may have had their genetic helix destroyed by toxic radiation, or have been poisoned by the long-term accumulation of toxicity from a large amount of unclean food, or have been corrupted by chaos and turned into monsters.

The cities never took them in, the empire never allowed them, the emperor never blessed them, and they were the objects of hatred and rejection by hundreds of millions of people in the empire.

The vast majority of mutants are reduced to living out their lives in the sewers of Underhive, finding some solace in the worst of the curses against the Empire.

But some mutants choose to curse the Empire in a more direct way, using the power of the Chaos Gods in the Warp
Zhou Yun stood on the roof of a house not far away, watching Monger and Markit take off their hoods, chanting a seven-syllable spell and walking into the Corpse Guild.

As expected, their target was also the Corpse Guild.

Zhou Yun felt a little numb for a moment.

Zhou Yun came up with this guess after noticing that the direction that Markit and Monger were heading was roughly the same as his own, and that the Corpse Guild was the only important building in this direction.

So he used the teleportation ability brought by the super power hat to rush to the door of the Corpse Guild before Monger and Markit.

Looking at the blasphemous and Nurgle-style decoration of the Corpse Guild, Zhou Yun knew that he guessed right.

The target of the brothers Monger and Markit is the Corpse Guild, and it is obvious that some kind of subspace force is entrenched in the Corpse Guild.

Zhou Yun acted on his heart and squatted on the rooftop of a house not far away, waiting for Monger and Market to help him clear the way.

Unexpectedly, I also found out the true identities of Monger and Market. Two mutants.

Speaking of mutants.
The Empire divides mutations into four levels.
Mild variations include large skulls, slightly abnormal height, missing limbs, unusual talkativeness, and odd hair color.
This is 1 point each.

Extra limbs, severe height abnormalities, scales and feathers or animal fur growing on the body, disrespect for superiors, and body luminescence are moderate mutations.

This is 3 point each.

The body is poisonous, has 1 to 3 appendages, abnormal eye placement or non-standard number of eyes, and the characteristics of the beast are severely mutated.

This is 10 point each.

Having more than three appendages, causing localized subspace anomalies, more than one skull, possessing aggressive limbs, questioning the need for examination as extreme mutations,

This is 50 point each.

Monger and Markit have four mutations: growing scales and feathers or animal fur, having poisonous bodies, beast characteristics, and possessing aggressive limbs, one moderate, two severe, and one extreme, with a total score of 73 points.

1-9 points are considered normal, above 10 points you have to sit at the same table with Ogryn, and above 50 points you are generally incinerated on the spot.

Monger and Markit are considered middle-class mutants among the mutants that the Empire must purify.

and.
Zhou Yun couldn't help but glance at the winged figure in the white light out of the corner of his eye.

A winged figure in the white light: "?"

I updated a little early today, because yesterday the number of readers was almost over 200, and I thought it would be a test if I could break 200 earlier today.
