Chapter 372 Answer
Seeing Yan Shiyu's attitude, Jiang Beiheng nodded and said, "We are all relatives, so let's not bother with these formalities."

Yan Shiyu merely raised her eyes slightly, not even bothering to give a response.

His attitude towards Jiang Beiheng was consistently cold, but this coldness varied between the past and the present—

His previous indifference was more due to his personality; he was still willing to maintain basic politeness on the surface.

This coldness is clearly a sign of impatience directed at the person in front of him.

Tang Xu knew him and could see the difference, but now, his attitude was so obvious that even Jiang Beiheng could see it, showing that he was truly making no attempt to hide it.

Jiang Beiheng was a man who had seen his share of storms, and even so, he remained calm and continued gently, "You've been back for a long time, and I haven't been in good health, so I haven't had many opportunities to visit you. As a result, the relationships between relatives have become quite distant... It's rare to have this opportunity to sit down and have a meal together, so I wanted to have a good chat with you."

Upon hearing this, Yan Shiyu curled his lips and said, "Can a estranged relationship be bridged simply by sitting down for a meal and having a chat? If Mr. Jiang can do that, then there are probably many other things in the world waiting for Mr. Jiang to solve."

Jiang Beiheng slowly exhaled, looked at the young man in front of him who had almost made his attitude and stance clear, and said, "Is there some misunderstanding between us?"

"Mr. Jiang, what makes you say that?" Yan Shiyu asked coldly, still sitting motionless.

Tang Xu sat to the side, her gaze fixed on the dining table in front of her, completely unfocused.

“Since you returned to Huai City, many things have happened. Now the Yan family and the Jiang family are fighting to the death, which benefits neither side at all,” Jiang Beiheng said. “I just want to know, are there any misunderstandings in the process of you making these decisions…”

“Then I will tell Mr. Jiang clearly that there has never been any misunderstanding between us,” Yan Shiyu said.

Compared to Jiang Beiheng's tactful, roundabout, gentle, and calm words, Yan Shiyu's response and tone were like a cold knife, direct and merciless.

After several exchanges, Jiang Beiheng had roughly confirmed his attitude. He nodded slowly before saying, "Then I'm really curious about your motives for doing this... Why are you targeting the Jiang family like this?"

“In the competitive business world, many people will meet, and it just so happens that we have clashed with the Jiang family. This is just the norm in business,” Yan Shiyu said. “You keep saying it’s targeting us, but I don’t understand what you mean by that.”

Do you really think this is the norm?

"Otherwise what?" Yan Shiyu retorted. "I'd like to ask you, why do you feel this is targeted? We have no grudge against each other, why would I target the Jiang family? Or is it that your Jiang family has committed some evil deeds that make you think the Jiang family is being targeted?"

Upon hearing this, Tang Xu couldn't help but slightly raise her eyes and exchange a glance with Yan Shiyu, who was sitting opposite her.

Tang Xu still doesn't know the inside story of why he hates the Jiang family and is targeting the Jiang clan, but what he said at this moment undoubtedly reveals some of the answers.

Even though he phrased it as a rhetorical question, Tang Xu knew all too well what emotions were behind it—

That was actually his answer to Jiang Beiheng.

How could Jiang Beiheng not have noticed?

After a moment of silence, he spoke again: "In my life, I've experienced many things, some good and some bad. What you sow, you reap; perhaps everything is predestined. I don't know why you came here, but I still want to advise you: being too attached to or involved in certain things is not good for either yourself or others."

Yan Shiyu laughed upon hearing this. "Are you trying to persuade me?"

Jiang Beiheng added, "No, I'm just giving you some advice as someone who's been there. If you take things too far and become obsessive, it will only hurt yourself and others."

"Thank you so much for your advice," Yan Shiyu said. "However, I still suggest you give yourself some advice. You've been through so much in life, and you must have committed quite a few sins. Reflect on yourself more often, so that you won't suffer too much retribution later."

Tang Xu couldn't help but sigh, wanting to speak, but not knowing what she could say.

Jiang Beiheng remained calm upon hearing such words, nodded, and then said, "You're right. Thank you for reminding me, and thank you for your answer."

Yan Shiyu's expression remained unchanged, as if he couldn't be bothered to look at him any longer. He simply pushed back his chair, stood up, and said, "Farewell."

Jiang Beiheng then stood up as well, and Tang Xu quickly reached out to help him up.

"I can tell you're very busy, so let's call it a day... Speaking of which, I almost forgot to congratulate you." Yan Shiyu had already reached the door, but stopped upon hearing this without turning around.

Jiang Beiheng continued, "I heard from your uncle that your long-lost sister has finally returned to Huai City. Your reunion is a great joy. It's your uncle's birthday in a few days, and I heard that he plans to introduce your sister to everyone on that day. I will also come to congratulate you then. See you then."

Upon hearing this, Yan Shiyu finally turned around, and when her gaze swept over Jiang Beiheng, it was chilling to the extreme.

For a moment, Tang Xu was stunned.

If Yan Shiyu had been in control of the previous conversation, at this moment, Jiang Beiheng crossed his bottom line with just one sentence—

Even Tang Xu was a little scared by his gaze.

Jiang Beiheng, however, seemed oblivious to everything and said to Tang Xu, "Could you see Mr. Yan off for me?"

Tang Xu nodded, then let go of his arm and stepped forward, standing between him and Yan Shiyu, thus blocking Yan Shiyu's view.

Yan Shiyu looked at her, his gaze lingering for a moment, before finally opening the door and walking out.

After listening to Jiang Beiheng's words, Tang Xu escorted Yan Shiyu into the elevator.

The elevator doors slowly closed. Gao Yan stood in front and pressed the button for the first floor. Tang Xu stood beside Yan Shiyu and then reached out to gently tug at his sleeve.

After a few seconds of silence, Yan Shiyu finally turned to look at her, and when he spoke again, his tone had softened, "When are you going back?"

Tang Xu said, "I'll take him back to the Jiang family and then go back myself."

Upon hearing this answer, Yan Shiyu's eyes darkened slightly, and then he said, "What would you like to eat? I'll prepare it."

"That's fine," Tang Xu said immediately. "I'll eat whatever you prepare."

As they were talking, the elevator arrived at the first floor. The elevator doors slowly opened, and Yan Shiyu strode out with Gao Yan. Tang Xu followed them out, standing at the door watching their backs. He said in a normal voice, "Take care, Mr. Yan," and then returned to the elevator, which was still open, and went back upstairs.

When I pushed the door open and went back into the private room, Jiang Beiheng was sitting alone in the same chair, gazing at the night view outside the window in a daze.

Hearing the noise, he turned to look at Tang Xu and asked, "He didn't give you any trouble, did he?"

Tang Xu shook her head gently, sat down again in the chair next to him, paused for a moment, and then said, "You should have expected this outcome, right?"

Jiang Beiheng chuckled helplessly. “I know how stubborn young people are these days. How could I expect a meal to solve the problem? But… at least for now, I’m certain he’s here for me.”

Tang Xu was silent for a moment, then said, "Between you and him..."

"I haven't figured out what could have made him hate me so much," Jiang Beiheng said. "Perhaps time will give me the answer."

"Then why did you mention his sister just now?" Tang Xu couldn't help but ask again. "Are you trying to use his sister as a starting point to warn him about something?"

Jiang Beiheng chuckled upon hearing this, then said, "I've lived for over fifty years, after all. I can't let a young kid completely take the initiative. Regardless of what I do or don't do, I need to let him know that I have leverage to keep him in check."

Tang Xu was terrified. "If you really wanted to keep him in check, what would you do?"

Jiang Beiheng turned to look at her and said, "What? Are you afraid that I'll drag innocent people into this, and you feel bad about it?"

Tang Xu paused for a moment before slowly nodding and saying, "Yes, no matter what, I don't want you to involve her."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Beiheng's expression changed slightly, and he asked, "You know her?"

Tang Xu nodded again.

“I not only know her, but she is a very, very important person to me. So, could you please, for my sake, not involve her no matter what happens?”
