Marriage Seduction Addiction
Chapter 266 Can Hold On
Just as Tang Xu felt she was about to fall into a light sleep, her phone suddenly rang.
The sudden ringing of the bell jolted her awake in the quiet space.
Tang Xu glanced at the incoming call; it was from the real estate agent who had previously helped her handle the Song family's assets.
Tang Xu resisted answering the call, but her body wouldn't listen, and she swiped to answer it.
Only when she heard the other person's voice through the receiver did Tang Xu slowly put the phone to her ear.
"Miss Tang, you're back?" the agent asked on the other end of the phone. "I'm sorry to bother you so late, but I just heard the news and thought I should let you know—the Song family's old house will be auctioned off tomorrow morning, did you know?"
Tang Xu's mind was practically blank, so it took her a long time to realize what the agent had said to her.
"Oh," Tang Xu responded softly, "I don't know, thank you for telling me."
"So, Miss Tang, you're not planning to pay any attention?" the agent asked. "If you need any help, you can always come to me."
Tang Xu fell silent for a moment.
She remembered when Song Yuting was in the hospital, Qin Yun stayed with him every day, while Song Yuqiao and Song Luobai returned to their grandmother's house. Only she stubbornly guarded that house, waiting for the day when it could be restored to its original state—a house where the whole family was together.
Even though she always remained detached from that family, even though she wasn't really a member of that family at all, she still loved seeing that family complete.
But now, what's the point?
The most important people in that home are gone, and the house has ultimately lost its meaning.
"Thank you." Tang Xu paused for a long time before finally speaking slowly, "I think it's probably not necessary."
After hearing this, the agent stopped bothering her.
Tang Xu then started the car and drove back to Yujing Bay.
She had already booked a flight to leave the next day, so even if she didn't sleep well that night, Tang Xu wasn't anxious, since there would be plenty of time to sleep on the plane anyway.
She lay there in bed, watching the sky gradually brighten, before realizing that she hadn't slept all night.
Tang Xu couldn't help but think that she shouldn't have come back after coming here.
During her months in London, she didn't have to think about anything and slept very well every day.
But having just returned to Huai City, she found herself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things piling up – the feeling of being pushed forward by events was simply too unbearable.
Tang Xu didn't delay any longer and got up to tidy herself up.
She didn't bring much luggage back, so she left feeling relaxed, carrying only a bag, and took a taxi to the airport.
With several hours to go before takeoff, Tang Xu found a sofa in the corner of the lounge, covered herself with a shawl, and started to doze off.
Knowing that she would soon be far away and would no longer have to face those people and things she didn't want to face, Tang Xu finally fell asleep in that corner.
When she woke up again, someone was gently patting her arm and calling her, "Ms. Tang?"
Tang Xu pulled off the shawl covering her head and looked at the gentle, smiling, and dignified beauty in uniform in front of her, momentarily losing track of time.
The other person continued to smile at her and gently reminded her, "Ms. Tang, your flight will soon be boarding. The boarding gate is quite far from here. If you need a car, we can arrange to take you there."
"Oh," Tang Xu responded softly, then added, "No need, I can walk there myself."
"Okay, just let me know if you need anything."
Tang Xu nodded gently, then got up and went to the bathroom to wash her face. After she was fully awake, she left the lounge and headed to the boarding gate.
When I arrived at the boarding gate, a long line of passengers was already waiting to board.
Tang Xu completely forgot that she could use the priority lane. Seeing the long queue, she joined the very end and moved slowly forward with the line.
While waiting, Tang Xu took out her phone to check the messages. There weren't many messages on the screen, but Tang Xu immediately noticed the most crucial one—
"Miss Tang, the auction is over."
It was sent by the agent from yesterday.
Tang Xu stared at the message, stunned for a few seconds, before opening the chat box with that person.
"The buyer is Meng Liancheng."
Upon seeing that name, Tang Xu was stunned for a long time. She hadn't thought about these people and these events for so long that the sudden onslaught of so many things gave her a headache.
"Miss, could you please move forward a little?"
Tang Xu stood still, and before she knew it, a long stretch of space had opened up in front of her. The passengers behind her couldn't help but remind her.
Tang Xu, however, seemed not to hear and remained motionless.
Seeing her condition, the passengers behind her quickly passed her and continued moving forward with the queue.
Gradually, Tang Xu fell to the back.
She was completely unaware of what was happening until ground staff came up to inquire about her situation. They glanced at the information on Tang Xu's boarding pass and hurriedly said, "Madam, you can use the priority passenger lane. You don't need to queue to board. This way, please."
Tang Xu slowly raised his head to look at her, his face as pale as paper.
The other person was also visibly startled and reached out to help her up, asking, "Are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?"
Just as she was about to reach out to support Tang Xu, Tang Xu suddenly turned around and rushed straight into the bathroom.
When the ground staff rushed in, they saw her rush into a cubicle and vomit violently.
……
Tang Xu didn't actually remember what had happened.
All she knew was that when she regained consciousness, she was in an ambulance on her way to the hospital, with a paramedic and an airport staff member beside her.
Seeing that she had woken up, the two immediately came forward and asked about Tang Xu's physical condition.
Tang Xu threw back the covers and was about to get up when she was stopped. "Miss Tang, your health condition is currently unclear. Why don't you go to the hospital for a check-up?"
"No need," Tang Xu said. "I'm fine."
"Your plane is about to take off; even if you go back now, you won't make it..."
"I know..." Tang Xu insisted, "It's okay, I'm not in a hurry..."
At her insistence, Tang Xu finally got off the bus midway after signing a waiver.
This was a completely unfamiliar area for her. She didn't know where she was. Cars were coming and going on the road in front of her, and everyone had their own destination. But she didn't know where she should go.
Then a black sedan stopped in front of her, and the driver leaned out of the car to ask her where she was going and if she needed a ride.
Tang Xu stood there somewhat dazedly, and only when the driver was about to lose patience and leave did she finally give an address: "City North Cemetery".
Upon hearing that there was business to be had, the driver immediately quoted a price: "200 yuan."
Tang Xu opened the car door and got into the car.
Forty minutes later, Tang Xu got off the bus at the Chengbei Cemetery.
Her mind was still blank, but in some places, she could still reach them by following her instinctive memories.
When she stood in front of the cleanest and tidiest tombstone in the entire cemetery, looking at the girl's photo on the tombstone and the flowers placed in front of the grave, she finally smiled softly.
"Long time no see, Xingyang."
The girl's smile on the tombstone remains bright and radiant, just like the bouquet of flowers in front of her.
Tang Xu reached out and touched the petals of the flower. It was very fresh; it must have been picked that day.
"Is it Lu Xingyan who has it delivered every day?" Tang Xu said in a low voice. "Sure enough, he puts in a lot more effort than I do, unlike me, who comes empty-handed."
She squatted down on the spot, looking at the photo. "But I know you won't blame me, right?"
The cemetery was extremely quiet; not even the wind could be heard, and no one would answer her.
"But... I can't help blaming you." After a long while, Tang Xu spoke again in a low voice, "Why did you leave me all alone... Do you know, I really don't know what to do... Xu Xingyang, living is so tiring, I'm struggling so much..."
Tang Xu buried her head in her knees. After a long while, she gently rubbed her knees together. When she raised her head again, she wiped away her tears while still trying to smile and meet the girl's gaze.
"I was just kidding." She said with a smile, but tears still streamed down her face unnoticed. She simply told her best friend, "Don't worry, I can hold on. I can hold on for a long, long time..." (End of Chapter)
