Chapter 701 They Return Home Today
As the year draws to a close, the freezing air carries a chill and mist, shrouding the sky in the cold both in the morning and at night.

After lunch, Ji Jinchuan got back to work. It was already the end of the year, so he was very busy.

Xiao Cheng had just brought in a batch of documents that urgently needed to be signed when his cell phone on the table rang. He glanced at it indifferently and saw that it was the landline number of the old house.

He put the phone close to his ear and said "Hello" in a gentle voice. Xie Suling's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Jinchuan, Shaoheng and the others are back from abroad. You should bring Youran back to the old house for dinner today."

Ji Jinchuan paused for the pen in his hand, and because of distraction, the tip of the pen slashed out fiercely.

He clenched his jaw and didn't speak for a long time. Xie Suling's voice of "Hello" kept coming from the phone.

He held the pen tightly in his palm, his finger bones bulging and turning white. He lowered his head and looked at the place on the document that was scratched by the sharp pen tip. After a while, he replied, "I know."

He threw his cell phone aside and raised his hand to rub his throbbing temple. He had been so busy recently that he had forgotten what Ji Yangkun had said to him a few days ago.

He suddenly chuckled, and it was hard to tell whether it was self-deprecating or something else, but it sounded chilly.

Xiao Cheng glanced at his expression, then looked at the document with a long scratch on it: "Boss Ji, I'll print a new copy of the document."

Ji Jinchuan supported his forehead with one hand, pursed his cold lips and said nothing, the expression on his face was hidden in the shadows.

After get off work, Ji Jinchuan returned to Nanhaiwan. When he entered the living room, Shen Youran was not there. He asked Aunt Wu, "Where is she?"

Aunt Wu took his coat: "In the room upstairs." Ji Jinchuan loosened his tie and walked upstairs. Just as he stepped on the last step, Shen Youran came out of the bedroom, wearing clothes for going out.

He paused: "Did mom call you?"

Shen Youran had a bag on her arm. When she heard his words, she paused while wrapping her scarf around it and looked at him blankly: "No."

Ji Jinchuan glanced at her outfit and asked, "Are you going out?"

"Yes." December 31st, the last day of the lunar year, happened to be Zhou Hong's daughter's birthday. Qiu Shaoze called her and went to Zhou Hong's house to celebrate her daughter's birthday together.

Ji Jinchuan didn't ask her where she was going: "Mom called and asked us to go back to the old house."

"Okay." Between going back to the old house and going to Zhou Hong's house, she naturally chose the former, not to mention that it was Xie Suling who called personally.

Ji Jinchuan turned around and walked downstairs: "Now that you are ready, let's go."

After getting in the car, she called Qiu Shaoze and told him that she couldn't go because of something. Qiu Shaoze couldn't help but complain a few words, but she didn't explain too much. She just said "sorry" and hung up the phone.

The heater was on in the car, and she took off her scarf and put it on her legs: "Mom suddenly asked us to go back, is there something wrong?"

Ji Jinchuan looked straight ahead and did not answer her. She tilted her head to look at him in confusion. The outline of his face was angular and his expression was almost expressionless.

She repeated it again, and he said slowly, "Maybe."
