After a while, footsteps were heard on the stairs. She looked back and saw Ji Yangkun coming down from upstairs, followed by the housekeeper.

She stood up and waited for Ji Yangkun to enter the living room. She hesitated again and again, not knowing whether to call him Dad or Mr. Ji. Finally, she called out, "Dad."

Ji Yangkun didn't respond. He walked around and sat on the single sofa. Then he looked at her who was standing stiffly and said, "Sit down." Shen Youran sat down again. She thought it was Xie Suling who asked her to come to the old house, but she didn't expect it was Ji Yangkun. This made her feel a little uneasy.

The servant served tea to Ji Yangkun, and he asked in a steady voice, "Is the child okay?"

Shen Youran was distracted, and after a moment's pause, he replied, "Very good."

Ji Yangkun leaned back, leaning against the back of the sofa and looking at her: "You and Jinchuan have been married for so long, and I have never agreed to let you enter the Ji family. Do you have any resentment?"

She thought for a moment and replied, "We got the marriage certificate without your consent. You have reason to be angry."

Ji Yangkun raised his eyebrows unexpectedly, looked at her with deep eyes, picked up the teacup and took a sip: "Not at all?"

"No." She looked calm and composed. After a slight hesitation, she continued, "Whether you agree or not, I am now his wife and the mother of his child."

Ji Yangkun's eyes suddenly became sharp, with a hint of gloom between his brows. He stared at her for a long while, and finally put down the teacup: "You are quite courageous."

Shen Youran had a calm face and said fearlessly: "If I were timid and cowardly, I would have backed down and divorced him long ago."

Ji Yangkun didn't look like a kind father on the surface. He had sharp eyebrows and a deep and shrewd gaze. When he spoke, his low-pressure tone seemed to carry an invisible pressure. He said, "If I don't agree to your marriage, what are you going to do?"

She said in a firm tone: "You will agree one day."

Ji Yangkun raised his eyebrows, his eyes fixed on her, and seemed to be a little interested in her words: "Why?"
