Chapter 1152 I'm fine, I just can't forget (9)

Because of what happened during the day, Shen Youran was in a bad mood. Lin Mo'an took her to the club to relax in the evening. It was almost eleven o'clock when they returned home.

Back in the room, she came out of the bathroom after taking a shower, dried her hair, and lay down on the bed. Suddenly, her cell phone rang.

She reached out and took it from the bedside table. The landline number on it looked familiar. It seemed to be the phone number of the Ji family's old house.

Her fingertips moved towards the word "reject", but she thought that if she didn't accept it, Xie Suling might come to the company tomorrow, and she didn't want too many people to know that she was related to the Ji family.

She swiped the dial and put the phone to her ear. Not knowing whether it was Xie Suling herself or the housekeeper who was calling her, she said nothing.

"Ran Ran."

The soft voice came through the radio waves.

She was slightly stunned, and her voice was faint but not cold: "Is there something wrong?"

Jinuo glanced at the housekeeper, who walked away knowingly. He curled himself up in the sofa, buried his head and said in a low voice: "My father vomited blood today. I'm so scared. I don't have a mother. If anything happens to him again, I will really become a bastard."

Shen Youran's heart choked and her throat seemed to be grabbed by something. She heard fear in his small and low voice.

She pinched her palm lightly with her nails and took a deep breath: "What happened to your father?"

Jinuo whispered, "He vomited blood. Grandma said that if he doesn't obey, he will definitely die if he continues like this."

Shen Youran frowned slightly. How could she say such words in front of a child?
"Did grandma tell you these words?"

Jinuo crossed his little feet and said, "She was talking to Grandpa, and I overheard it."

Shen Youran's throat was a little dry, and she pursed her lips: "Are you in South Bay or the old house now?" The little guy's brain reacted very quickly, his dark eyes widened, and he asked curiously: "How do you know my home is in South Bay?"

She was slightly startled, then calmly said: "I heard it."

He asked cautiously: "Of course, do you not like me anymore?"

"It's late now, go to bed early." Shen Youran froze for a moment, and said in a somewhat indifferent tone, "If you don't dare to sleep alone, go sleep with grandma, or go find your second uncle."

Without waiting for Jinuo to speak, she hung up the phone. The room fell into silence, and her hand holding the phone turned pale.

She threw her cell phone on the table. The door was closed and the curtains were drawn, so it was pitch black. She frantically searched for a cigarette on the table, but couldn't find one. Because of her messy movements, something fell to the ground.

The screen of the mobile phone had not yet gone dark, revealing a faint light. She leaned over the bed and picked up the cigarette box. When she lit it, she found that her hands were trembling slightly.

With a "click", she pressed the lighter and the dark room lit up instantly. The faint light reflected on her pale face, like a ghost traveling at midnight.

She took two puffs in a row, and her emotions and reason gradually calmed down. The cigarette butt shone bright red in the darkness.

During the first six months after she was released from prison and went to the United States, she was unable to get rid of the nightmare for a long time, so she slept with the lights on at night.

That night she tried to turn off the lights, but was awakened by a nightmare in the second half of the night. Lin Mo'an heard the noise and broke into the room, asking her why she didn't turn on the lights.

She smiled bitterly at that time. Some things you have to get used to, just like she had to get used to the fact that that person was not around.
