Chapter 316: All the Birds Fly
Chapter 316: All the Birds Fly
Washington, the President's residence.
The sadness over Roosevelt's death seemed to have not completely dissipated, and the staff members were still walking quietly.
The secretary knocked on the president's door and whispered, "Mr. President, General Marshall is here."
This is one of the changes that have taken place in the White House in the past two months. At Truman's request, there is an independent set of procedures for meeting with the president. Anyone who wants to meet with him needs to make an appointment and be informed by the secretary.
You have to know that during Roosevelt's time, staff with urgent matters could find him directly in the presidential office, and they could even discuss a war involving tens of thousands of people or a loan of tens of millions while eating a sandwich.
Everything is no longer the same as before.
Truman had just put down the report in his hand when Marshall walked into the room.
"Mr. President, the FBI has reviewed the circumstances of that day again, and they have concluded that Mr. Roosevelt did die of a sudden illness, not a premeditated assassination."
Truman did not comment, but instead raised a new question: "How do they explain what the Asian man said on the plane?"
Marshall hesitated for a moment and said, "The FBI has also discussed this internally. It is very likely that the other party just happened to greet each other. It was an accident."
"So, my General, can you say that these things in my hands are accidents?" Truman patted the material about two feet thick on the table.
"This is the information we can collect from World War I to the present. If it wasn't titled "Office of Strategic Services", I would have thought it was a poorly written, third-rate novel about personal heroism."
Marshall nodded. "Yes, Mr. President. In the field of special agents, he is a semi-mythical figure."
"So, my Chief of Staff, do you think this is a good thing?" Truman's tone began to become gloomy.
Marshall recalled the scene on the plane and said firmly, "This is bad news. If there is an omnipotent agent in the world, it will not be a good thing for the top leaders of any country, including Britain itself."
"I'm glad we agree. When we face the Germans and the Japanese, it is indeed a sharp spear, but it is obvious that our allies did not equip this spear with a handle." Truman put down what he was holding and continued
"Based on the current situation, even within the UK, there is very limited restraint on him. The last Paris incident was a completely spontaneous act on his part."
"The most terrifying thing is that this spontaneous behavior actually has a very wide-ranging influence. At least four parties are involved, and the shadow of the Cheka is clearly involved."
At this point, Truman revealed his attitude: "So how can we ensure that the next time he gets angry, his target won't be Washington?"
"Yes, Mr. President, this is indeed worthy of attention. And at present, the other party's actions have directly interfered with our interests." Marshall handed over the report in his hand.
"Because of certain interference, there are at least thousands of people in the New Japan National Construction Army who are out of our control. They are closer to the London government, which is very unfavorable for our post-war management of Japan."
"Do you have any good suggestions?" Truman crossed his hands on the table. "At present, it seems that there are two people who have the greatest influence on these Japanese. One is the female agent named Jima, and the other is this amazing Mr. 007. If they both disappear, I believe the follow-up work will go smoothly." Marshall said in the calmest tone.
"Disappear? How? I don't want to mess things up and create a super agent who hates the US government."
"Of course, I have a complete plan here." Marshall bent down and subconsciously lowered his voice.

At the U.S. military base in Okinawa, He Chi was visibly stunned when he walked into the agreed location.
MI6 called him using a special code in the area, but when he arrived at the location, the people who appeared opposite him were FBI people, and the leader was actually five-star General Marshall, and next to him was John Sinclair, the successor to the head of MI6.
The simultaneous appearance of high-ranking British and American officials is such a big deal. Are the Americans going to land in Tokyo Bay in advance?
"Mr. 007, I'm very sorry to call you here in this way because time is tight." Marshall went straight to the point.
"We just received intelligence that a Japanese ship has just landed in the Kitakyushu area, loaded with a large amount of gold and jewels looted from other countries. The Japanese government seems to have a premonition of defeat and plans to hide them in a secret location."
"We lack the necessary intelligence network and cannot accurately determine the location of the gold, so we would like to ask our ally, you, for help."
After saying this, Marshall looked at Sinclair beside him. Menzies' agent nodded and said, "The OSS has communicated with the headquarters. London hopes that we can provide assistance."
He Chi looked at the two people without saying anything. He didn't understand why these two people thought that he would definitely help them get out of trouble?
Looking at the silent He Chi, Marshall seemed to have been prepared. He smiled and took out a few photos. "Although we lack informants in Japan, our agents took some photos of this ship when it set out. I believe you will be interested."
He Chi took the photos and his eyelids jumped. The first one was a huge Buddha head, and the ones after that were domestic-style artworks, some of which were so famous that he could even name them.
These things are not just priceless.
The Oriental man took the photo and began to ask questions, "If I help find this part of gold and antiques..."
Marshall was very satisfied with He Chi's reaction and immediately said, "As you can see, you can take away everything from China, and we will pay an additional 5% of the total gold amount as compensation."
"OK! I accept this mission. Are there any other people participating in the operation?" He Chi took the photo on the table.
"Ms. Jima is your old partner. This time, Mr. Sinkraal specially transferred her from the Philippines to cooperate with your work. She will arrive here by plane in about four days."
"What about the other arrangements? Where is the landing site for infiltration? Which direction of retreat is chosen? Are there any communication stations that can be used along the way?" He Chi directly asked a series of questions.
Marshall smiled and handed over a set of documents. "This is the overall plan of the operation. You can read it here."
He Chi reached out to take it, casually flipped through the information on it, and at the same time took out a sketch pen and kept recording something.
Suddenly, his hand stopped.
At the location chosen for the evacuation point, there was a place name clearly marked:
Ogura.
