My own war game
Chapter 296: Lesson 1, New Discovery
Chapter 296: Previous Lesson, New Discovery
When the two sides met again, Christine had changed into her professional attire.
The delicate woman lying on the hospital bed disappeared. The aura accumulated from twenty years of intelligence work came over her, and the Queen of French intelligence appeared proudly in front of the two men.
"I have a task for you two." Christine crossed her arms and gave the order directly and forcefully.
"Ma'am, we are carrying out the task assigned by Mr. Pierre." One of the women subconsciously brought up her superior to prevaricate.
"Oh?" Christine raised her eyebrows and looked at the young woman. "Ms. April O'Neill, what is your military rank?"
"Not yet a military commission, ma'am," the other replied, bowing his head.
"What about you? Mr. Winston Fisher." Christine turned her head and looked at the man on the other side.
"I was a lieutenant in the North African combat unit, but I'm no longer with the army, ma'am." The man had no choice but to respond positively.
"So you are civilians without military ranks? According to the multi-party agreement of the Allied Command, in military-administered areas, civilians should obey the command of the head of the wartime management agency."
"So I ask you in my capacity as Commissioner of the Paris War Administration to obey orders, or do you feel that Pierre can directly violate the document signed by Mr. de Gaulle."
"This..." The two people found themselves falling into each other's language trap at this time. Due to their status, they were unable to refute each other's words.
"Okay, ma'am, please give your orders." The woman named April took the lead in compromising.
"Smart choice, follow me." Christine stepped forward, and after a few steps, she looked back at the two people.
"Don't you want to come over?"
The two agents had no choice but to give in.
The three people plus He Chi came to a huge warehouse. There was about a company of American soldiers guarding the door. Every time they entered a certain area, they underwent strict inspection. After the Orientals stepped forward and opened the third wooden door, they came to the core area.
The two were shocked by the scene in front of them. They saw that the densely packed shelves were full of explosive boxes with TNT logos on them, and there were dozens of tons of them.
Although they knew that TNT was very safe and could not explode without a detonator, the two men still couldn't help swallowing their saliva.
"Oh my God! So much explosives is enough to destroy one-tenth of Paris." The woman called April exclaimed, covering her mouth.
"You're right, these explosives were originally used to destroy Paris." Christine patted the shelf next to her.
"Before entering the city, we captured the supreme commander of Paris, Choltitz. In his confession, he mentioned that Berlin had ordered him to blow up Paris, but he did not have time to execute it. These are TNTs dismantled according to the explosive layout diagram provided by the surrendered German army."
"Ma'am, the story sounds thrilling, but what does it have to do with us?" asked the man named Winston Fisher.
"This is your mission." Christine threw out a list. "In the next period of time, you need to compare these explosives with the demolition sites, confirm whether the equivalent of each location is appropriate, and then give me feedback."
"Ma'am, I don't understand what the point of this is. Besides, it's too much work for two people." Winston Fisher protested.
"Of course it is meaningful and very important." Christine said righteously, then she glanced at April's young appearance and continued, "Any intelligence work requires a large amount of basic data to analyze. This is part of your job and also the first lesson I teach you."
"But this job will take a long time with just the two of us."
"It's okay, I can wait." The French girl turned and walked out, then added, "This is a highly confidential restricted area. You will not leave until you have completed your work. Water and food are ready. There is a bed and a bathroom in the house next door. Please make good use of this time."
Then, without waiting for the two to answer, Christine walked straight out of the house, then turned around and suddenly opened the door. "Don't even think about jumping out of the window to escape. The guards here will really shoot."
Christine left, leaving the two of them looking at each other.
He Chi followed up and asked, "Do you really need that list?"
"No, we chose that place simply because the guards are tight and it's hard for them to escape. We can be quiet for a while, and we can also express our dissatisfaction to Pierre in a proper way." Christine smiled playfully and left gracefully. In fact, the female intelligence officer knew very well that she was deliberately making trouble for the two people because they disturbed her rare date time.
Boom!
Fisher punched the wall. "How dare that woman humiliate me like that! What does she think we are? Mail sorters?!"
In comparison, April was much calmer. The former guerrilla fighter thought for a moment and then started to take inventory on the shelves.
"Are you just going to compromise like that?! Don't forget, Commander Pierre still has a mission for us." Fisher asked angrily.
"But we don't have a better solution right now, right?" April has started taking notes. "And I don't think Ms. Christine would let me do such a boring thing out of thin air."
"What do you mean?"
"You have to know that she knew Mr. Charles de Gaulle during the last war. She was at least half responsible for the establishment of the Free French intelligence network. Would such a person do something meaningless?"
"I believe her. There must be a reason why she did this." After saying that, April started working again.
In the next few days, Christine enjoyed another warm time. The only drawback was that her injury healed too quickly, and using the excuse of visiting the patient to get together became increasingly untenable.
Just as she was about to think of a new excuse for a date, there was a knock on the door of the ward.
The two guys walked in.
"Ma'am, we have completed the mission." April placed a thick stack of lists on the table with a thump.
"So fast?" Christine was also surprised. She expected the other party to do it for at least ten days or half a month, but she didn't expect it to come out in less than a week.
"Ms. Christine, can you teach us now what this data is used for?" The young female intelligence agent looked at her predecessor with anticipation. She was looking forward to her first class.
Christine was stunned. She picked up a list and looked at it, then evaded the question by saying, "Well... uh... you did a good job, but there are some problems... He, take a look at what I mentioned to you before."
Unable to handle the situation, Christine simply passed the blame to He Chi.
He Chi took the list and glanced at it, then picked up a few more. The expression on his face gradually changed from relaxed to solemn.
Finally, he simply took out his sketch pen and started sketching on a piece of rough paper.
"There's something wrong with these forms," He Chi concluded.
"Impossible!" April said loudly, "I have carefully counted every number and compared them repeatedly."
"It's not that there's something wrong with your calculations, but these numbers." He Chi pointed to the table in his hand. There were more than a dozen locations where some of the explosives recovered in the North District were missing.
"This is normal, after all, it is possible for the measurement to be slightly off when burying the explosives."
"Since there is a deviation, then why is it always a little less, rather than a little more, or some more and some less?" He Chi asked the other party.
The two people opposite also showed a thoughtful look.
Then Dongfang pointed to a string of numbers on the list and said, "And have you noticed? Although the amount of missing explosives at each point is different, the gaps are all multiples of three kilograms. Why do you think this is the case?"
"This means that someone has taken away a batch of explosives in units of three kilograms from each location. The quantity is unlikely because the other party has only a small number of people and does not want to attract attention." Fisher expressed his thoughts.
The young female intelligence officer also started to think, "Three kilograms is a little too small for an adult man. The person who stole the explosives might be a woman or a child."
"You're right, but there is actually another possibility." He Chi stared at the area and said in a deep voice
"The other person may also be a person with a physical disability."
