Chapter 34 Encountered Something Dirty
The air is stagnant.

All eyes were on Yu Tingwan.

The girl was pretty, and although she had no makeup on, it looked as if she was wearing makeup.

She was wearing many layers of cotton clothing, obscuring her figure. Yet her skin was as white as porcelain, and her eyes, like flowing autumn waves, were subtly alluring. Beneath a beauty mark, her bright features were tinged with an unconscious, charming allure.

But her voice was soft and melodious, pure and innocent.

From the moment Granny Chen entered the courtyard, she took notice of her.

This is far superior to the ordinary cosmetics she has. If she were properly trained, she could bewitch countless men.

I thought she was a daughter of the Wei family, but she wasn't.

Yu Tingwan was waiting for Hui Niang's reply.

She had acted impulsively, but the more she thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

There are very few reliable men in this world. Yu Tingwan knew better than anyone that the butcher Wu was easy to talk to back then, wasn't it because of her outstanding appearance?

The thing a woman should avoid most is using her looks to please a man.

Sometimes, relying on your in-laws is better than relying on your husband.

There are very few men like Butcher Wu who lost their parents at a young age. For those with elders in their families, their background is a common problem.

Even though Li Lian vouched for them now, and those people didn't care, they would inevitably have conflicts as they spent more time together.

Yu Tingwan wasn't actually afraid of hardship; what she feared was enduring hardship and then being harshly treated by her mother-in-law, difficult by her sisters-in-law, and the cold indifference of her husband who had been watching her gossip and disputes.

She didn't want to argue about these things all the time. If married life wasn't as good as before, what was the point?
All Yu Tingwan wanted was peace and stability. Wei Shen didn't have that, but she saw it in Hui Niang.

Having spent time together over the years, Hui Niang had seen Yu Tingwan's composure and would never joke about such things.

Hui Niang was startled.

Not to mention her, even Wei Shouzhong was extremely surprised.

But it must be said that of all the girls who had spoken, only Yu Tingwan had truly touched the hearts of the couple.

Yu Tingwan looked serious, genuinely believing the matter was feasible.

Before Hui Niang could react, some people expressed their dissatisfaction.

Granny Chen slammed down her teacup: "What does this mean? How can you be so shameless, young lady?"

She frowned at Hui Niang and said, "Sister, you're not going to make me come all this way for nothing, are you?"

Isn't this stealing her thunder?
Yu Tingwan frowned at her, then chuckled and tugged at the corner of her lips: "It's a matter of mutual consent, why are you getting so worked up?"

"It's just a matchmaking process. If your aunt thinks it's feasible, she'll agree to let the girl into the family. If she doesn't think it's suitable, can you force her in? What kind of arrogance is this?"

She glanced at Granny Chen casually: "A matchmaker who deals in human trafficking. She pays money to buy and sell girls, and the indentures are stamped by the government. But it's still a harmful business."

The young girl was exceptionally cold: "I'm not a girl in your hands, to be slaughtered at your mercy, to have to watch your face."

"It's true that my desire to enter the Wei family's home is in your way. But so what? Does that mean Wei Shen can't be sought after? If you're uncomfortable, just bear with it. I don't know where a stranger like you gets your arrogance. Does this place belong to you?"

She suggested, "If you really can't stand it, then take your people back."

That way, she has no competitors!

The little girl really had two faces. She made Granny Chen very angry, but then she spoke softly to Hui Niang.

“Auntie, now that I’ve moved out, I can make my own decisions about my marriage.”

Granny Chen was furious; her face turned black.

But she really couldn't force anyone to buy or sell.

Hu family.

The baby cried incessantly until its voice became hoarse.

Madam Xu was too weak to get out of bed, and nothing she did could soothe her. Her eyes were filled with exhaustion, and she seemed to have aged several years since giving birth.

"mother."

Having no other option, she had to shout outside.

"Mother, are you there?"

With a bang, the door was kicked open.

A biting cold wind blew in, and Mrs. Xu quickly wrapped the child in a blanket.

Wang said sternly, "What are you yelling about!"

She glanced at the child in Xiao Xu's arms. Her hopes of having a grandson had been dashed, so how could she be happy?

“Dalang didn’t cry or fuss when he was born, so he was very easy to take care of. But look at her, she’s so noisy that I can’t sleep at night. She doesn’t look like Dalang’s son at all!”

These words are truly scathing.

Tears welled up in Ms. Xu's eyes.

"Mother, how could you say that to me? How could the child be born from me and another man?"

She truly hated Wang Shi! But her family was weak, so she had no choice but to submit. Little Xu Shi turned her face away and hurriedly wiped away her tears.

"My child is so hungry, I really have no other choice."

How can a child not cry when they are hungry?

Wang said impatiently, "You're such a troublemaker. And your belly is still not cooperating!"

"Have I starved you or deprived you of water? You can't even breastfeed a baby?"

She grumbled and prepared to go out to find goat milk.

"mother."

Little Xu timidly called out to her.

"I haven't slept for days, I really can't manage alone, could you..."

Wang glared at her: "You still want me to bring it for you?"

She doesn't care about him, he's not her grandson!
What could Ms. Xu do but grit her teeth and bear it?

"Mother, let Wan-niang come back."

She carefully observed Wang's expression, afraid of angering her: "She was stubborn back then and insisted on going against us. Now that she's living outside, she must have suffered a lot and regretted it."

“Mom has been saying she’s tired these past few days. If she comes back, someone will take care of the chores around the house, and I’ll have an easier time.”

Wang frowned.

That little bitch has a bad temper, but she's definitely efficient at her work.

Seeing that she seemed to be relenting, Ms. Xu quickly added.

"If Father comes back and doesn't see Mother, he'll probably be furious. We won't be able to have a good New Year."

"If that's the case, we might as well give her a way out first."

"To prevent her from taking advantage of her father's support and then pretending to be pitiful, which would probably require my mother to personally apologize and beg her to come back."

Upon hearing this, Wang felt it made a lot of sense.

When Yu Tingwan left, she didn't give her a single grain of rice. She'll probably cry and beg for forgiveness the moment she sees her.

Wang set off and walked a long way before finally getting close to the old house.

From afar, they could see Granny Chen leading five girls out of the Wei family's house next door.

Wang did not recognize him.

But she recognized Yu Tingwan, who was walking slowly a few steps away from these people.

As if sensing something, Yu Tingwan looked up in this direction.

Wang raised her head high: "Evening..."

After uttering just one word, Yu Tingwan's expression turned cold.

She walked toward the old house with disgust.

Wang hurriedly chased after him.

"Alright, I've already come to pick you up, that's already giving you face, why are you still being stubborn?"

Yu Tingwan stepped over the threshold.

Wang followed closely behind, but before she could enter the courtyard.

Just hear a bang.

Yu Tingwan slammed the door shut.

If Wang hadn't dodged so well, she probably would have bumped into her face.

She was both frightened and furious.

"you……"

I just said one word.

Then I heard a cold voice from inside.

"roll."

Hearing the commotion, Hui Niang from next door quickly came out to join the commotion.

Then they saw Wang Shi angrily banging on the door of the old house.

She was terrified that Yu Tingwan would be bullied.

"Wan Niang, are you alright?"

They quickly received a response from the people inside.

"fine."

"We encountered something evil."
