Seeing that Zhang Surui was adopting a very humble attitude, Lin Bei nodded in satisfaction.

It seems that the move of evaporating the seawater just now truly shocked these proud young people.

Dealing with the Megalodon was just a piece of cake for him; he simply couldn't stand these creatures that were all strength and no brains, and dealing with them was easy enough.

Since he had received Zhang Surui's advances, he wouldn't refuse.

Lin Bei didn't hesitate much and said with a smile that of course he would accept payment, but now was not the time to talk about it. He told Zhang Surui's team to come to the largest hotel in the West Coast city to find him after they finished dealing with the Megalodon.

Lin Bei knew that with Zhang Surui's pride, she would never do anything to abandon her benefactor.

Zhang Surui breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Lin Bei's words, especially after hearing that he wanted payment.

It's good to receive payment, after all, given Lin Bei's strength, if he wanted to ask for something else, she might not be able to provide it.

Otherwise, this debt of gratitude would remain unpaid, and Zhang Surui would not allow such a thing to happen.

After giving his instructions, Lin Bei waved to them, leaped into the air, and flew towards the coast.

The people on the speedboat were shocked by what they saw. Jonathan crossed his arms and said, "I wonder what this kid has been through. If I didn't have to pay the price, I would want to fly too."

Zhang Surui nudged Jonathan with her elbow: "Stop talking nonsense. Quickly think of a way to explain this disaster to the other departments."

Zhang Surui's mind is now completely focused on resolving the matter as quickly as possible and then making it up to Lin Bei.

While Zhang Surui was busy handling the follow-up matters, Lin Bei had already returned to the city and accurately located Constantine.

To Lin Bei's surprise, Constantine didn't go anywhere; he just sat in his car on the side of the street, lazily smoking.

Lin Bei descended from the sky, landing beside the car, and asked casually, "What happened? Didn't you go anywhere else?"

Constantine lazily exhaled a smoke ring and glanced at the shops across the street: "I noticed something's off. Have you sorted it out?"

Lin Bei easily jumped into the passenger seat, bracing himself against the bike frame. His gaze fell on the shops across the street, and he said calmly, "It's a small matter, it'll be resolved naturally. That shop... no, it's not the shop's problem, the customer's problem is, it's a child?"

Constantine glanced at Lin Bei with a surprised look: "A child? I didn't realize the problem was with a child. Looks like you're still better than me."

Lin Bei rolled his eyes, thinking to himself, "How can I order you around if I'm not better than you?" But he said aloud, "Let's wait and see what happens when someone comes out. If it can escape my eyes, it proves that this thing is very good at hiding."

Constantine had no objection to Lin Bei's statement. Just now, when Lin Bei left, he did intend to find a place to relax, but before he even started the car, he felt a strange force coming from the shops across the street.

Constantine, after all, is a detective from Hell, and is extremely sensitive to the aura of demons.

He could tell that someone in the shop across the street was tainted with the aura of a demon.

However, he couldn't tell who it was, so he thought that if Lin Bei came back, he might be able to tell.

I didn't expect Lin Beizhen to come back.

Upon hearing Lin Bei's words, Constantine had only one thought in his mind: it was all settled.

The two waited in the car for about ten minutes, during which many people came out of the shops.

Each time a new wave appeared, Constantine would turn to look at Lin Bei, and seeing that Lin Bei didn't react, he would turn back to look at the shop door.

Lin Bei only responded with a soft "hmm" after the family of three came out.

Constantine lit another cigarette: "Was it that little boy?"

Lin Bei rested his chin on his hand, watching the family of three walk away down the street. "Hmm, but it's not just the child; the whole family has problems. Let's follow them."

Lin Bei keenly sensed that there was something strange about the atmosphere between the family of three; the couple strode ahead, leaving the little boy behind.

The couple was arguing about something, and the little boy had his head down, as if he had done something wrong.

So far, this is all quite normal, after all, it's possible that the little boy made a mistake, causing his parents to argue about it.

But the main point is, it's unlikely that parents would feel fear just because their child makes a mistake.

Lin Bei sensed that the couple was afraid, and extremely afraid.

Lin Bei looked at the somewhat familiar little boy in front of him, feeling as if he had forgotten something.

Constantine had no idea what Lin Bei was thinking. Lin Bei gave the order, and he carried it out. Constantine, with a cigarette in his mouth, started the car and slowly followed the family of three.

Constantine's ability to stalk people was really bad; other passersby on the street noticed him and frequently glanced at him sideways.

Strangely enough, the family of three in front of them didn't even turn their heads, let alone notice them.

And so, Constantine drove at a snail's pace, following the family of three until they reached their vicinity.

When Lin Bei saw the family of three enter a three-story building from afar, his eyes narrowed slightly as he recalled the original plot that he had forgotten.

Spider-Man Boy.

This is a relatively obscure film. In the original story, the little boy Peter is often troubled by mysterious, continuous knocking sounds coming from inside the walls of the leper's bedroom.

After he explained the situation to his parents, Mark and Carol, they didn't believe him. Instead, they told him that the knocking sound was just Peter's imagination.

Peter was tormented by the inexplicable knocking sound and even felt fear every night, while his parents blamed him for causing trouble for the family.

Peter was bullied at school during the day and tormented by the strange knocking noise at home at night. Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore and decided to investigate.

But as Peter investigates at home, he discovers that his parents have always known that the knocking sound is not his hallucination. In fact, they are hiding a huge, terrible, and dangerous secret from him.

Peter lost trust in and was disappointed in his parents, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Lin Bei remembered this obscure movie because the little boy Peter's actions would be outrageous no matter where they were.

The knocking he heard came from his own sister, who was locked up in the building.

His sister is actually a monster who terrified Mark and Carol from birth. Unable to kill her, the couple could only lock her in their basement to prevent her from harming others.

Unexpectedly, this ordeal lasted for more than ten years. Not only did her older sister not die, but she also grew up strong. However, having been confined in the basement for so long, she had learned to crawl through the cracks in the walls and was able to enter different rooms, not just the basement.

Peter, however, had no idea that he had an older sister.

The older sister knew from the beginning that she had a younger brother, and she hated and envied him.

They are both children of the same parents, so why should she be locked in a dark and gloomy basement?

When the older sister realized that Peter had noticed the commotion she was making, she hatched an evil plan.

Thinking of this, Lin Bei stroked his chin. He vaguely remembered his sister's appearance; she was like a spider, her hair was spider silk that could wrap around anything, and she could climb up and down the room with great agility. The original story didn't explain where the evil power in his sister came from, nor did it explain what his sister actually was.

However, judging from Constantine's reaction, he's practically a demon.

The family of three had already gone home. Lin Bei stretched and looked at Constantine beside him indifferently: "What do you plan to do? Just charge in?"

Constantine frowned, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Don't you feel something's wrong? I clearly sensed a demon, but why did I find something else mixed in with this aura after arriving here?"

Lin Bei raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Not bad. It's a good thing that your instincts haven't deteriorated from being idle all this time. I did notice something was wrong. I can only tell you that this isn't one of Solomon's seventy-two demons. Anyway, let's get out of the car and go take a look."

As Lin Bei spoke, he got off the bus first.

Constantine was somewhat surprised to hear Lin Bei say that.

Not the 72 demons of Solomon?
Who else could possess such demonic power?
To say it's a low-level demon is absolutely impossible.

Constantine grew increasingly curious and couldn't help but quicken his pace, overtaking Lin Bei and arriving at the door of that family's house.

Constantine knocked on the door, and soon someone came to open it; it was the lady of the house, Carol.

Carol looked at the two young men at the door with a puzzled expression: "What can I do for you?"

Constantine glanced indifferently at Carol's pale face: "We're here to help your family solve a problem. Your family hasn't been having much peace lately, has it?"

Constantine, too lazy to fabricate an identity to fool Carol, went straight to the point.

To everyone's surprise, Carol's face paled even more upon hearing Constantine's words, but she still managed to smile and wave her hand, saying, "What problem? I haven't found anything wrong with our house. Are you here to sell something? Sorry, we don't accept any form of sales pitch."

After saying that, Carol closed the door without even saying goodbye.

Looking at the tightly closed door, Constantine was puzzled: "That demon is causing trouble in the house, she couldn't possibly not have sensed it, so why is she refusing to help?"

Lin Bei turned and walked out: "Because you look very suspicious, let's go. Since polite questioning won't work, we'll just have to force our way in tonight."

Constantine scratched his head impatiently, walked into the yard, and lit a cigarette.

As Lin Bei turned to look, his peripheral vision swept across the second-floor window.

The second floor was dark, with no lights on. A little boy stood by the window.

That was Peter.

The poor, hateful child is suffering greatly from his older sister's torment.

After all, who would poison their own parents?

Yes, after Peter learned that his parents were hiding a huge secret from him, he did not choose to confess or question them. Instead, he chose to listen to his sister inside the wall and poison his parents.

Of course, he later succeeded in poisoning his parents, and ended up being haunted by his demon sister no matter where he went.

Lin Bei narrowed his eyes, silently curled his lips, and left Peter's house with Constantine.

When it was late at night and all was quiet, Lin Bei and Constantine walked to the outside of Peter's yard.

Looking at the pitch-black window, Constantine threw away his cigarette butt, stomped it out, and said calmly, "Climb in through the window?"

Lin Bei glanced at Constantine with disdain, walked straight to the door, snapped his fingers, and the door opened silently.

Constantine looked at his actions with surprise: "You have such a convenient skill, why didn't you use it sooner? What was the point of climbing over walls and windows before?"

"Shut up." Lin Bei was too lazy to say much to Constantine and quietly stepped into Peter's house.

Upon entering Peter's house, a faint, chilling aura immediately enveloped Lin Bei and Constantine.

From the moment he stepped into Peter's house, Constantine frowned, looking uneasy.

He paced around the living room, finally unable to resist clicking his tongue and lowering his voice: "Hey Lin Bei, something's not right. This demon is already quite powerful; it should have enough strength to break through the boundary between hell and the human world. Why hasn't it made a move yet? Why is it keeping this family alive? Or is it trying to use them as bait?"

Lin Bei looked around and went straight upstairs: "This is definitely not right, but she's not using this family of three as bait. She just wants to torture them. Okay, shut up. Guard the first floor and don't let anyone bother me."

As he spoke, Lin Bei's figure disappeared on the second floor.

Constantine pursed his lips, walked to the sofa and sat down, silently waiting for Lin Bei to resolve the matter.

Let's get back to Linbei.

Once they reached the second floor, the chilling atmosphere intensified. No wonder Peter had nightmares every night and was constantly disturbed and woken up by the sister inside the wall; no child would feel comfortable in such an environment.

Lin Bei had planned to go directly to Peter's room, but before he even reached the door, he heard a muffled thud coming from the bedroom.

Immediately afterwards, the door to the room was opened, and Peter rushed out with a look of terror on his face.

Peter originally wanted to rush to his parents' room, but when he came out and saw a strange man standing in their house, Peter was so frightened that he froze and instinctively wanted to scream.

Lin Bei reacted much faster than Peter.

The moment he saw Peter, Lin Bei raised his hand and activated the power of the Shadow Monarch. Black liquid surged from the shadow beneath his feet, rushing towards Peter and tightly binding his mouth.

Peter stared at Lin Bei in horror, trembling all over, and almost fainted.

Lin Bei walked to his side, lowered his head and said calmly, "I know that everything you've been through is not a fantasy. I'm here to deal with the demon that's been bothering your family. As for you, just stay put."

Lin Bei disliked unruly children to begin with, let alone Peter, who dared to poison his parents to death.

He gave Peter a cold shoulder, walked past him, and strode into the bedroom.

The bedroom was deathly silent; there wasn't a sound. Lin Bei looked around and went straight to the wardrobe.

Just as Lin Bei approached the wardrobe, a strange rustling sound came from its direction.

It seemed that something in the closet was frightening Lin Bei.

Lin Bei sneered, waved his hand to activate the power of the Shadow Monarch, and the black liquid shattered the wardrobe into pieces before swiftly drilling into the wall.

Suddenly, a hoarse, rough roar came from inside the wooden wall.

Lin Bei scoffed: "Playing tricks, do you really think I can't find you?"

However, as soon as he finished speaking, Lin Bei felt the thing bound by the black liquid suddenly disappear.

He frowned, broke through the wooden wall, and found sparse strands of hair scattered in the dusty crevices. The monster was gone without a trace. (End of Chapter)
