Angela looked at them anxiously, hoping they wouldn't actually go looking for the devil.
Unfortunately, in Lin Bei and Constantine's eyes, Angela's words carried no weight whatsoever.
As the one seeking help, Lin Bei felt that Angela just needed to shut up and listen to him.
They will handle everything perfectly and cleanly.
Clearly, Constantine thought so too.
Constantine lit a cigarette, put one hand in his pocket, and turned to look at Angela with a nonchalant expression.
"Madam, first of all, you need to understand one thing. The current situation is not your place to interfere. You have been targeted by the devil, and you have even implicated both of us, causing us to be discovered by the devil."
If I had known you were on the devil's list from the beginning, I would never have let you into my house.
But things have gotten complicated now, and you'll have to accept the protection of both of us, so can you shut up, keep quiet, and follow behind us?
Constantine's last words were phrased as a question, but they made Angela feel pressured.
After Constantine's "friendly" reminder, Angela finally realized one thing: the situation was completely different from what it had been an hour ago.
She could only survive by relying on these two people; otherwise, she would be captured and killed by the demon at any moment.
Angela felt a chill run down her spine at the thought that those terrifying demons had just torn her to pieces.
After shivering, Angela swallowed hard and quickly nodded: "Okay, okay, gentlemen, I will go with you and will not offer any opinions that may hinder you. However, I think I can still be of use. If anything happens, you can tell me. After all, I am a police officer."
Lin Bei found Angela's words amusing.
He admired Angela's courage in the original story, but he did not agree with what Angela said.
It's no wonder the police are useless against demons.
Lin Bei didn't voice his thoughts aloud. He simply stretched his neck and said calmly, "Find the demon in your way, or mine?"
Hearing Lin Bei say this, Constantine exhaled a puff of smoke, frowned, and looked at Lin Bei with displeasure.
"Please, you said the same thing three months ago in Berlin. I told you to come find me, and you fucking blew up a building. If we hadn't run away quickly, we'd probably be in a Berlin jail right now. Do you think I would still ask you to come find me?"
Lin Bei was stunned for a moment, then dug out Constantine's words from the depths of his memory.
Three months ago, they accepted a commission to exorcise a demon in Berlin. When they arrived, the demon was exorcised from the little girl's body, but before leaving, the demon cursed the little girl and hid away.
Seeing the little girl's life hanging by a thread, Lin Bei stopped Constantine from going to find the demon, and instead tracked down the demon's trail, blowing up the building where the demon was hiding.
There were no casualties, and the demon was killed by Lin Bei using physical means, but that building was the headquarters that controlled the entire Berlin power grid.
Lin Bei's actions caused Berlin to lose power for a whole month, and the two of them were put on the wanted list.
Fortunately, Lin Bei reacted quickly, and after receiving the commission fee, he immediately smuggled Constantine out of Berlin, thus avoiding imprisonment.
However, they won't be able to go to Berlin for the next five years.
After recalling the events, Lin Bei remained silent for a moment, then nodded to Constantine: "Then you do it."
Constantine rolled his eyes, put the cigarette in his mouth, and took out his phone to make a call.
It took a long time for someone to answer the phone. Constantine whispered a couple of words, hung up, and gestured with his chin toward Lin Bei: "Let's go to the midnight club."
Lin Bei wasn't surprised by Constantine's action. He nodded slightly and casually said, "So you were just on the phone with Father Hannah? You asked him to communicate with Angela's body to find out where her soul is?"
Constantine had only taken a couple of steps when he heard this and became very impatient: "Lin Bei! Didn't I tell you not to speculate about my actions so casually? How do you know everything? Are all Easterners as terrifying as you? You're more frightening than a demon!"
Lin Bei took Constantine's words as a compliment, shrugged, and chuckled, "If I were you, I would tell Father Hannahsi not to act tonight. He'll die, and you'll be in big trouble. Also, I suggest you quit smoking. If you continue like this, you'll go to hell."
Constantine scratched his head impatiently, but still threw the cigarette on the ground and stomped it out: "Stop talking nonsense. You don't need to worry about Father Hannah. Even if he dies, he's a candidate for heaven. So, are you going to the midnight club or not?"
Lin Bei was determined to go.
He nodded in agreement, put his hands behind his back, and walked past Constantine toward the main road.
As he passed Constantine, he noticed that Constantine was texting.
Lin Bei smiled silently, hailed a taxi, and headed to the Midnight Club with Constantine and Angela.
The Midnight Club was founded by a voodoo priest named Midnight, and under his management, the Midnight Club became a neutral zone.
This also means that anyone who steps into the Midnight Club, whether human, angel, or demon, must not attack each other.
That is why Midnight has a lot of information about demons and angels. If you want to find out information, come to the Midnight Club.
Whether or not you can find out depends on your own abilities.
When the three of them entered the Midnight Club, all eyes in the club turned to them.
In Lin Bei's eyes, this midnight club was no different from any other bar.
The room was dimly lit and cramped, filled with men and women entangled together. On stage, women in bikinis writhed, and the air was thick with the smells of alcohol and strong perfume.
The dimly lit room was filled with people, entwined together like inseparable tree trunks and vines. They appeared harmless, but their gazes carried a hidden murderous intent.
Lin Bei didn't think anything of it and walked inside with a normal expression.
Constantine was right next to Lin Bei, and he naturally noticed the discontented and murderous gazes around him. But the Midnight Club had its own rules, and even if you wanted to kill someone, you couldn't do it.
He clicked his tongue impatiently, pulled out a cigarette and lit it, his brows furrowed with laziness and displeasure: "Where has Midnight gone again? This lousy bar is still the same as before, full of all sorts of bugs, it stinks."
This was Angela's first time in a place like this, and even though she was a police officer, she keenly sensed that everyone in the club was strange. Following behind Lin Bei and Constantine deeper into the club, the closer she got, the stronger that strange feeling became.
When Angela saw the red and golden light in the eyes of the people around her, she was so frightened that she covered her mouth.
Angela finally realized that this place was full of demons and angels.
Demons are one thing, but why are angels here too?
Why are angels getting mixed up with demons?
She didn't understand, and this also had a certain impact on her faith.
Angela almost screamed when she saw the demon and the angel kissing.
Fortunately, a door appeared in front of the three of them, and Angela secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She felt that everything here was driving her crazy, and she couldn't stay here for even a moment longer.
After Constantine pushed open the door and went in, Angela quickly slipped inside before Lin Bei could step in.
Before stepping inside, Lin Bei turned and glanced indifferently at the demons and angels in the hall, scoffing and giving them the middle finger. Seeing the demons and angels' expressions of shock and anger, he then walked into the room with satisfaction and closed the door.
Once the door was closed, the loud music in the club lobby was completely drowned out.
Before the three could see the situation in the room clearly, a cold voice echoed in the room: "Constantine, look what trouble you've brought me this time. The thing I regret and hate most in my life is knowing you."
Lin Bei looked in the direction of the sound. The room was somewhat like a private room, with soft sofas all around and sound-absorbing cotton covering the walls. There was a black coffee table in the middle, piled with various bottles and cups.
Sitting upright in front of the coffee table was a bald, elderly black man in a black suit.
The old man had some tattoos on his face, making him look mysterious and intimidating. He also exuded a strong aura, and Angela, who had been feeling unwell just moments before, now only dared to cower in a corner and remain silent.
Constantine walked up to the old black man with an indifferent expression, raised his chin, and spoke lazily.
"It's midnight. I need to ask you something. This woman's sister was killed by a demon. Investigate which demon did it."
At midnight, he sat motionless on the sofa, his hands resting on his cane in front of him. He only lazily raised his eyes to look at Constantine, a mocking glint in them.
“Constantine, why should I help you? As the administrator of the neutral region, I have no obligation to do anything for you. You asked me to investigate demons, what reason do I have to investigate for you? Just because I'm your friend? Wake up, Constantine, I won't help you every time.”
Constantine's eyes darkened slightly as he slowly exhaled white smoke from his cigarette. "I need your help at midnight. It's an emergency. We've all been targeted by demons."
Even at midnight, he still seemed unwilling to pay attention to Constantine, and even closed his eyes.
Lin Bei watched this scene silently, then suddenly chuckled, breaking the oppressive atmosphere in the room.
Everyone in the room looked over. Constantine glanced at Lin Bei indifferently, knowing that his partner meant he had to handle it. He didn't say anything, and walked to a corner to smoke.
Angela looked at Lin Bei with a blank expression. For some reason, his soft chuckle dispelled the oppressive atmosphere that had been weighing on her in the room.
He slowly opened his eyes at midnight, looked Lin Bei up and down, and frowned slightly as if he sensed something from Lin Bei.
"You... are very strange. Everyone in this world has a place to belong, but you have no place to belong... You don't belong to heaven, you don't belong to hell, and you don't belong to the human world. What exactly are you?"
Lin Bei frowned slightly: "Isn't it too impolite to use 'thing' to describe people? Midnight, you don't need to care about my background. You just need to know that you should help Constantine, otherwise I will demolish your Midnight Club."
Upon hearing this threat, Midnight was immediately displeased. He sneered and looked at Lin Bei without fear: "Oh? If you have the ability, then go ahead and dismantle it. But I'm going to tell you what will happen if you do. Not only will you offend me, the voodoo priest, but you'll also offend the angels and demons outside. Young man, don't blame me for not warning you. Are you prepared to face retaliation from all three sides?"
A dark light flashed in Lin Bei's eyes. He chuckled and, not wanting to waste words with Midnight, turned to look at Constantine.
"We absolutely must get information from him?"
Constantine tossed away his cigarette butt, stomped it out, and stroked his chin casually.
“Not him. I need that death row chair in his warehouse. You know, with that chair I can go to hell…”
Upon hearing Constantine's words, Lin Bei knew what he was about to do.
He raised his hand to stop and gestured for Constantine to step back.
Constantine sighed helplessly, walking towards Angela while impatiently rubbing the back of his head: "So, don't blame me at midnight, Lin Bei is angry, and I can't stop him."
After saying that, Constantine pulled Angela to a corner away from Linbei and midnight.
Angela looked bewildered: "What's wrong? Is something going to happen? What is Mr. Lin Bei planning?"
Constantine leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, looking at Lin Bei calmly: "Watch carefully. If you've witnessed the true strength of my partner like I have, you won't worry about your life anymore."
Just as Constantine finished speaking, Lin Bei made a move.
He snapped his fingers, instantly activating the power of the Shadow King.
Black liquid surged from his shadow, instantly covering the entire floor of the room.
Angela sensed the black liquid beneath her feet and let out a short scream in fright. Constantine, however, merely raised an eyebrow and muttered, "Where did this guy secretly invent this move from?" before crossing his arms and continuing to watch the show unfold.
Midnight looked down at the black liquid at his feet, his brows furrowing slightly. He then looked up at Lin Bei and said, "Young man, you don't think you can smash up my Midnight Club with this weird stuff, do you? Don't you know that the moment you make a move, the angels and demons outside will notice and rush in to tear you to pieces?"
Lin Bei was too lazy to argue with Midnight. He didn't say anything, but just controlled the black liquid to continue spreading in all directions. In just a few seconds, the black liquid occupied every corner of the Midnight Club.
The angels and devils in the club were completely unaware of this anomaly, still indulging in drunkenness and lust, enjoying the hedonistic night.
Through the black liquid, Lin Bei sensed everything outside. A sneer appeared on his face as he coldly looked at Midnight: "You mean, the trash you created with alcohol and poison can break in the moment I attack you?"
Unexpectedly, Lin Bei was able to see through what he had added to the drinks at the Midnight Club simply by walking in from the outside.
This realization sent a chill down Midnight's spine. (End of Chapter)
