Chapter 43 Inner Demon
In the next few days,

Following the instructions of the captain of the water ghost boat, Xu Zhiqiu and his companion hurried along the river bank, sleeping in the open air.

As there were few people along the way and supplies could not be replenished, the dry food was quickly eaten up.

Practitioners also need to eat, let alone a little girl of eight or nine years old?
Fortunately, Xu Zhiqiu had some skills in surviving in the wilderness, so he would often catch some river fish to eat.

After walking along the river bank for seven or eight days, we finally saw the long rivers converge and merge into a vast ocean running from west to east. I think it must be the big river "Hongchuan".

If you continue upstream along Hongchuan for about 1,400 to 1,500 miles, you should reach Qingyun Mountain.

Roughly speaking, it will take about a month to get there.

Because I was really tired of eating fish,

One day, Xu Zhiqiu took the maid into the nearby woods.

I hunted some game and picked some wild fruits to improve my food.

……

Since obtaining Qi, Miss Lu has made rapid progress.

In just a few days, he had completed the small circulation of Qi, and his true Qi had begun to take shape to a certain extent.

Because I don't know if Qingyun Sect has any taboo against bringing talents to learn from their disciples.

So apart from the basic foundation-building method, Xu Zhiqiu didn't teach her anything else.

After lunch, the two found a cool cave and planned to rest for half a day.

As usual, Lu stood outside the cave.

Xu Zhiqiu was meditating with his eyes closed in the cave, comprehending the contents on the two stone tablets he had recently acquired.

They are respectively - "Quanzhen Sect's Inner Alchemy" and "The Demonic Mantra of the Heaven of Transformation".

The former was obtained from the battle of Kaoshan Village, and the latter was obtained from the ghost ship.

There is nothing much to say about the former, it is a serious Xuanmen technique.

The Quanzhen Sect, which was known as the best in tempering life in his previous life, is exactly what he needs right now.

This method, combined with the practice of reversing life, may have a complementary effect.

By then, your life cultivation will have greatly increased, and the two "rebels" in your body will no longer be able to cause any trouble.

As for the "Mantra of the Devil of Paranirmita-vasavartin", it is a method of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism in the previous life.

The Paranirmita-vasavada Heaven is the highest heaven among the six heavens in the desire realm.

The lord who rules this heaven is the demon king Mara.

In Buddhist stories, Mara is a demon king who seduces others into downfall and takes pleasure in corrupting their practice.

Looking at this mantra,

Apart from the opening sentence "Namo Mara Emperor", the rest is a long paragraph of gibberish and difficult to understand.

It should be a transliteration from Sanskrit.

"Namo" means to take refuge.
Adding "Māra King", the combined meaning is "conversion to Mara".

This mantra can be used in two ways: internal and external.

Internal use means reciting silently and chanting to yourself.

It is introduced above that: once this mantra is recited, people will passively fall into the inner scene and enter a state where their wishes come true, and then sink into all kinds of illusions of pleasure such as lust, killing, conquest, possession, delusion, achievement...

It is like being entangled by the demon king Mara, deeply trapped in the five sounds and five aggregates, unable to extricate oneself.

This is a great test for the state of mind of those who practice cultivation.

If you can keep to the middle path, ensure that your original mind is not lost, and see through the taste and consciousness, you will be able to quickly escape from it.

The reward obtained from this is naturally a significant growth in one's mind and spirit.

If you can't figure it out, can't get out...

The ending is not as simple as just becoming an idiot.

After chanting this mantra and falling into the inner scene, the influence of the inner scene on the mind will be reflected on the real physical body.

In other words, the longer you wallow in it, the greater the damage to your body.

……

The above is for internal use.
As for external use, it is chanted loudly for others to hear.

To put it bluntly, it is a method of group hypnosis.

Of course, external use is an advancement of internal use.

Otherwise, if you just recite it out without any resistance, you will be trapped together with the enemy.

Xu Zhiqiu weighed the weight of the two methods in his mind and was a little undecided for a moment.

"Which one should I practice first?"

Combined with the current situation and the unexpected problems that may be encountered next.

Xu Zhiqiu felt that he still had to increase the diversity of his methods, so as to avoid being at a loss when facing the enemy.

So, he sat cross-legged with his left foot folded on top of his right foot, with his five hearts facing the sky.

Put your hands together between your legs, as if you are meditating.

it should be no problem?

But I don’t know what my inner demon will be?
Is it possible to come out calmly?

With these three questions in mind, Xu Zhiqiu closed his eyes and slowly recited:

"Namo...Mara Heavenly King..."

In the dark light of the cave, only his outline was still recognizable.

However, above his eyebrows, the silver sand-like flame mark quietly emerged again.

…………

Lu Yatou was distracted again while standing still. This situation has happened frequently in recent days.

The root of the problem is anxiety and uneasiness about the future.

She knew that she was going to Qingyun Sect, but she didn't know whether the sect would accept her after she arrived.

Of course, it doesn’t matter if you don’t collect it...or it’s better not to collect it.

What she really cared about was whether Xu Zhiqiu would join her in becoming a Qingyun if she accepted the gift.

Or... just leave her there alone?

She hoped it was the former.

And I’m afraid it’s the latter.

He became more and more anxious, so he took the risk himself.

However, when she opened her eyes, she was surprised by the scene around her.

"This is……"

All around, thick fog was hovering and undulating along the ground, making this wild mountain stream look like a fairyland.

Where does the fog come from?

She turned and looked around, only to find that the mist was coming out of the cave.

The little girl panicked and immediately rushed towards the cave entrance.

The closer we got to the cave entrance, the thicker the fog became, until we couldn't see our hands in front of us.

In a daze, Lu girl stumbled several times.

However, after finally groping our way into the cave, the fog around us suddenly cleared.

Before her eyes, there was a brand new world that stunned her.

Under the clear blue sky, a tall, shining building stands before our eyes.

On the plaque, two large characters were neatly outlined in gold paint - Trinity. This is the mountain gate of a building complex.

Yatou Lu swore that she had never seen such a majestic and magnificent building.

In comparison, the bluestone archway in Kaoshan Village is simply a dog hole.

She was smart and quickly guessed that she must have fallen into some kind of illusion.

And this illusion is most likely related to Xu Zhiqiu.

Just when she was at a loss as to what to do, the perspective suddenly moved forward rapidly, and she was "wrapped" up in it, pushing open the mountain gate and entering.

The sudden discomfort made her dizzy and her heart felt stuffy.

There were so many whispers in my ears, but I couldn't hear them clearly.

When her senses finally settled down, she looked at herself again and found herself in a large hall.

Outside the main hall, there were people standing in an orderly manner.
Her sudden appearance did not attract the attention of these people.

It was as if she didn't exist at all.

She saw Xu Zhiqiu kneeling in the middle of the hall, kowtowing toward the many tablets enshrined in front of him.

For some reason, she felt that Xu Zhiqiu seemed a lot younger.

At most, he looks like thirteen or fourteen years old.

Behind him stood a man in white clothes, with white hair and bare feet, watching him silently.

After kneeling in front of the tablet, the man led Xu Zhiqiu out of the hall.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd,
The white-haired man sat upright on a throne, and Xu Zhiqiu knelt down and kowtowed to him.

After three kowtows, the man slowly spoke:

"The ceremony is over. From today on, you will be admitted into the Trinity Sect and become my, Zuo Ruotong's, direct disciple."

"Humans are extraordinary animals that stand tall and proud. I hope you will uphold the right path, remember your roots as human beings, practice diligently, think carefully, discern clearly, and act faithfully."

Xu Zhiqiu replied respectfully:
"Disciple Xu Zhiqiu will follow the master's instructions."

Witnessing this scene from the side, Lu Xueqi felt like thunder in her heart.

She guessed it quickly.

This is the memory in Xu Zhiqiu's mind.
But for some unknown reason, it appears before people's eyes as an external illusion.

Out of deep curiosity about Xu Zhiqiu, she couldn't help but stare at him intently.

……

After Xu Zhiqiu was dragged into the inner scene by the secret spell, he had no control over anything anymore.

This is somewhat different from the introduction.

As he expected,
His inner demons are not those lust, greed, and desire for killing that are so common that they can be seen at a glance.

His demons are a little more complex and a little more ambiguous.

And this "Demon King Mara" seemed to have become his psychologist, replaying before his eyes the scenes in his memory that most stirred up ripples in his heart.

So, let’s start from the earliest time we entered Trinity.

From the perspective of an eyewitness, Xu Zhiqiu relived those past events that deeply shook his soul and those moments that left him with obsession.

This includes the admonitions given by our Master when he was teaching us the Dharma.

The joy of breaking through a level,
The joy and fear after breaking through the second level,
The scene of playing and frolicking with fellow apprentices...

And in the martial arts arena, the mentor, who is as powerful as a god, single-handedly defeated the all-powerful demon Wu Gensheng, demonstrating his invincibility.

And eventually he broke through to the third level of reverse rebirth, which was said to be only achieved by the founder of a sect - perfect Qi transformation.

At this point, Immortal Daying is no longer just a name in the martial arts world, but has become a reality.

However, the turning point came so abruptly and cruelly.

In the end, Xu Zhiqiu's memory stayed at the moment that tore his heart the most -

On the armchair,

The mentor, who was so old that he was almost unrecognizable, spoke his last words to them with a sincere and relieved look before he passed away:

"Don't cry for me. The living are the root of death, and the dead are the root of life. Although I have not achieved success in this life, I think that after decades of diligent practice, I have made some fundamental changes for the better. Those changes may be insignificant... But when I start over, they should help me avoid taking detours, right?"

"You haven't finished your journey in this life yet, be careful, be careful..."

At this point, all the Sanyi disciples, including Xu Zhiqiu, were crying inconsolably.

…………

The sudden severe pain in his chest was like a raging fire burning his heart and liver, which suddenly pulled him out of the inner scene.

"puff!"

Xu Zhiqiu covered his heart and suddenly spurted out a mouthful of blood.

Glancing around, he found himself in the cave and immediately realized that he had returned to reality.

However, the thick fog around was gradually dissipating.

The mountain gate building began to twist and deform.
The figures of the Trinity disciples kneeling, the sounds of weeping, and the sight of their master passing away...

Everything is gradually becoming blurred and distorted, as if erasing all traces of its existence.

It was as if a thief who had committed a crime was fleeing the crime scene in a panic.

"This, this is..."

Xu Zhiqiu was so shocked that he didn't notice that the mark on his forehead was fading.

There was only one thought in my mind.
How could the demons in his heart manifest in reality?
"You...you vomited blood!"

The sudden exclamation woke him from his suspicion.

Xu Zhiqiu turned his head suddenly and found that Lu Xueqi was guarding him not far away.

There was worry on her face, but there was something complicated and unspeakable in her eyes.

Xu Zhiqiu was silent for a long time, then suddenly asked:

"Did you see everything?"

Such a plain sentence made Lu Xueqi's eyes tremble.

For some reason, Xu Zhiqiu at this moment gave her a completely different feeling from the past.

"I... I just saw thick fog in the cave, and I thought you... so..."

She answered very cautiously, but was interrupted by Xu Zhiqiu, whose question was full of anger:

"Who let you in?"

"I...I was worried about you..." Lu Xueqi lowered her head deeply, like a quail caught in the rain, "I'm sorry."

Xu Zhiqiu stared at her intently, his eyes already filled with bloodshot without him noticing.

The feeling in his heart was indescribable.

It was as if I had been stripped of my underwear in public, and there was an abnormal and deformed feeling of shame rising up in my chest uncontrollably.

A barrage of questions:
"Do you need me to worry? Who do you think you are? My mother? Huh!?"

The harsh rebuke frightened Lu Xueqi. It was the first time for her to face such a vicious Xu Zhiqiu.

After all, she was still a little girl. After being frightened by the yelling, her eyes were filled with tears of grievance unconsciously.

The voice was choked with sobs:

"...Mother...once told me that she would treat you...as a relative..."

"go out."

Xu Zhiqiu remained unmoved and pointed outside the cave.

"Get out! Now! Immediately!"
