Chapter 7 Qian Yanqiu

Chen Linfeng made a difficult request, "Dad, can you help me ask that screenwriter Qian? I want to learn how to write scripts from him."

"Why do you want to learn everything?" Chen Shantong felt a little headache because he was not familiar with the person, but he did not refuse after all. "Okay, I will find a chance to ask later. Don't have too high expectations."

Sure enough, it is always difficult for parents to refuse their children's requests for progress.

This month, Chen Linfeng submitted two short stories and they were successfully accepted.

This is still an original story written by myself.

Another inspiration came from a recent piece of news that was not too big or too small - a female student from the county’s second high school was admitted to Yenching University.

No. 2 High School is not a good school. I heard that this student was a typical poor student in the first semester of his freshman year.

At the beginning of the second semester of her freshman year in high school, she suddenly became serious and hardworking for some unknown reason. Finally, in this year's college entrance examination, she was admitted to a top-notch university like Shuimu North.

This was very similar to the plot of a movie Chen Linfeng had seen in his previous life. He instantly became interested and made a slight adaptation of the movie to write a short story.

He wrote more than 20,000 words in this novel, which is actually almost the number of words in a novella.

Chen Linfeng thought about it and finally submitted his novel to the selected magazine.

The manuscript was passed smoothly.

This time the editor did not mention the problem of writing style, which proves that Chen Linfeng is making progress with continuous practice.

Father Chen stayed at home for half a month.

On July 7, Cao Rong finally decided to film the sequel to Journey to the West. I heard that in addition to Chen Shantong, they found an investor.

He contacted Qian Yanqiu and started working on the script.

Chen's father made a special trip to Yanjing to discuss with screenwriter Qian about his son learning screenwriting.

On the one hand, Qian Yanqiu couldn't save face, and on the other hand, she had heard from Chen's father that his child was able to submit an article to a famous magazine.

He found the two issues of the novel selection, read Chen Linfeng's article, felt that he was indeed a promising candidate, and finally agreed.

When Chen Linfeng heard the good news from his father on the phone, he was overjoyed and exclaimed that his dad was awesome.

It was just an attempt, but it actually worked.

A few days later, Chen Shantong came back to pick up his son to go to Yanjing.

On the green train, the father and son finally squeezed in and found their seats.

It’s not possible to buy a sleeper ticket, and it’s already very difficult to get a seat.

Opposite Chen Linfeng was an uncle who was very talkative. After a while, he was chatting with Chen's father happily, covering everything from the universe and astronomy to family and national affairs.

Chen Linfeng took out a book from his bag and started reading.

The uncle got off at the next stop. Without a worthy opponent to chat with, Father Chen smacked his lips unsatisfied and said, "It's not satisfying."

He saw his son reading a book with great interest, so he leaned over to take a look and discovered that the book was full of Japanese language.

"What are you reading? Why are all the words about daily life?"

"Spider Man by Edogawa Ranpo, this is a novel about a high-IQ criminal and a detective fighting each other, it's quite interesting."

The elder sister sitting opposite Chen's father curled her lips, thinking that her son was even more boastful than his father. He even knew Japanese language. At such a young age, he dared to say that he understood Japanese language.

Father Chen knew his son's memory, so it was no surprise that he could learn it.

"When did you learn Japanese writing again?"

"Just a few days ago, you and my brother went to Shenzhen. I tried to learn it and it was pretty easy."

The older sister on the other side listened to the father and son talking more and more outrageous, and said that Japanese writing is very simple, why don't you go to heaven.

She couldn't stand people who liked to brag, so she turned her head away in disgust.

Father Chen was speechless. His son was too smart. Was the grass on his ancestral grave growing a little crooked? Although crooked was good.

So he stopped disturbing his son from reading.

At noon, Chen Linfeng followed his father to the front of the carriage to get hot water for instant noodles and put the book on the table.

The older sister opposite picked up the book and flipped through it, exclaiming in surprise, "It's really Japanese literature." When the father and son came back, the older sister opposite kept looking at Chen Linfeng.

Chen Linfeng was a little confused and tilted his head to look at her.

The eldest sister turned her head away embarrassedly and stopped looking at it curiously.

Qian Yanqiu’s home in Yanjing is a regular small three-bedroom, one-living room apartment, which should have been bought some time ago.

Although screenwriter Qian became famous as a director in later generations, he was actually an actor.

The first TV series in his life was co-starred with "Li Yuanfang" and "Yan Shuangying", who became famous in later generations.

No wonder Qian Yanqiu always pulled Zhang Zijian together later, as they were classmates and had known each other for many years.

Father Chen and screenwriter Qian were expressing their gratitude while Chen Linfeng stood by and acted like a good boy.

The adults finished their polite words.

Qian Yanqiu looked Chen Linfeng up and down. "I heard from your father before that your novel was published in a novel selection magazine. I read it and it's pretty good. Have you written any articles recently?"

Just as Chen Linfeng was about to answer, his father said, "Yes, yes, I brought it."

As he said this, he took out a Youth Digest from his bag.

I opened it and found an article written by Chen Linfeng - My Conversation with Antiques.

Or from the student's perspective.

The protagonist accidentally discovered that he could communicate with cultural relics, so he ran to the museum and started discussions with various antiques.

The whole text tells the historical events from the perspective of cultural relics.

The most lengthy part is the dialogue with a cultural relic from the period of Emperor Wu of Han - the Dew Plate.

The dew-receiving plate tells the story of its eventful life.

It began in the Han Wu period when it was first born.

It tells the story of the vigorous Han dynasty that it experienced, and the top heroes it met - Wei Qing and Huo Qubing, Sang Hongyang and Dong Zhongshu.

It was an era of great ambition and passion that it has never forgotten.

Similar to this was the prosperous Tang Dynasty, which saw countless Hu people coming to Chang'an, admiring this most dazzling city in the world. Such prosperity made them unable to stop.

Qian Yanqiu raised her eyebrows. Such stories were rare in this era and were quite fresh.

But prosperity is fleeting, and after experiencing the peak, the trough becomes increasingly unbearable.

It had witnessed the tragedy of the Han people during the Jin Dynasty and the demise of the country after the Song Dynasty.

Despite the brief glory of the Han people in the Ming Dynasty, the era eventually fell into decline. The closed-mindedness and ignorance of the Qing Dynasty and the humiliation of modern times are also fully described in its narrative.

Until the New China!
Qian Yanqiu looked at the last part of Chenglupan's conversation.
“Now seems to be the time for the tide to rise again. The era when the whole world was calling out “Wind, strong wind” will vaguely appear before my eyes again. How I wish I could see such an era again.”

The ending is an open ending. Chenglu Pan hopes that the protagonist will come to the museum again and tell it the news when China reaches the top again.

The text does not state whether the protagonist went there later.

After reading it, Qian Yanqiu praised it, "It's well written and very emotional. Considering your age, you can be said to have a promising future."

"Why do you want to learn how to write scripts?" He rarely saw such a young child interested in writing scripts.

After all, writing a script is not like writing a novel, where you can use psychological description or direct narration from the author. A script can only show the character's personality through dialogue, which is quite difficult for novices.

"I have a lot of stories in my head that I want to write down, film, and even, if possible, act out."

Qian Yanqiu looked at him in surprise and said, "You are greedy and confident enough. Okay, you stay here for a while. How much you can learn depends on your ability."

When Chen Shantong saw that screenwriter Qian had taught his son as promised, he thanked him profusely and spoke nicely to him as if he didn't want any money.

After sending his son there, Chen's father couldn't help with anything else. He gave a few instructions and left quickly.

He will follow the early preparations for the sequel to Journey to the West, including attracting investment and forming a team, and learn the ins and outs of it.
