The Heavens: Man Covers the Heavens, Refines Treasures to Become an Emperor
Chapter 378 Control
"The Bloodthirsty Camp has not been activated for decades."
The old man suddenly changed the subject, his voice low.
"Those who can participate are all extraordinary."
Jiang Xuan pulled himself out of his thoughts and forced himself to concentrate.
"What do you mean, senior?"
"If you can leave the Bloodthirsty Camp unscathed."
The old man said meaningfully.
"Perhaps I'm qualified to know more."
"Of course, I don't think you have much of a chance of seeing Miss again in the end."
Jiang Xuan's expression was stubborn.
"I'll prove it to you."
The old man smiled noncommittally and turned to leave. A moment later, Xue Jin appeared aboard his treasure ship, carrying Jiang Xuan and Ning Meng towards the Bloodthirsty Camp.
Two days later, the treasure ship landed on a scorching desert. The blazing sun baked the yellow sand, and the heat distorted the distant scenery.
"arrive."
Xue Jin spoke briefly, then steered the treasure ship away, leaving Jiang Xuan and Ning Meng standing on the scorching sand.
Ning Meng was pale and dry heaved, supporting himself on his knees.
"This damned treasure ship... I never want to ride on it again."
Jiang Xuan wasn't much better off; his stomach was churning, but he forced himself not to show it.
He looked around, and there was nothing but endless yellow sand.
"This is the Bloodthirsty Camp?"
Jiang Xuan frowned.
"Not even a ghost in sight."
Ning Meng straightened up and wiped the corner of his mouth.
"Just wait, someone will come."
He glanced at Jiang Xuan.
"You look great."
Just as Jiang Xuan was about to answer, a loud roar suddenly came from afar.
The two turned their heads at the same time, and a gleaming silver warship streaked across the sky, flying towards their location.
"Silver Eagle Battleship."
Ning Meng seemed to be deep in thought.
"A battle-type treasure ship of the Heavenly Rank Spiritual Artifact level is priceless."
Jiang Xuan watched in astonishment as the luxurious warship landed, kicking up clouds of yellow sand.
The warship's hatch opened, and thirty-six heavily armored men emerged in formation, their steps perfectly synchronized.
Behind them was a luxurious chariot pulled by four dragon-cloud beasts.
On the imperial carriage, a young man in white lay languidly, surrounded by seven or eight beautiful young women, some fanning him, some feeding him fruit, and some massaging his shoulders.
"Are they here for vacation?"
Jiang Xuan couldn't help but mutter a complaint under his breath.
Ning Meng snorted coldly.
"A spoiled brat."
The boy in white seemed to have heard their conversation and looked up at the two of them.
"Are you also waiting to enter the Bloodthirsty Camp?"
His voice carried a hint of nonchalance.
Ning Meng stepped forward and said without any politeness.
"With so many entourage, you're here for sightseeing, aren't you? I suggest you leave as soon as possible; this isn't a place for a young master like you."
The young man in white laughed instead of getting angry, pushed aside the beautiful girl next to him, and sat up straight.
"You've got quite a temper."
His gaze passed over Ning Meng and landed on Jiang Xuan.
"Your friend seems to be smarter than you; he knows when to shut up."
Jiang Xuan frowned; this white-robed youth was clearly trying to sow discord. Sure enough, Ning Meng flew into a rage upon hearing this, his spiritual energy surging.
"What did you say?"
The boy in white waved lazily.
"I told you, your temper will get you into trouble."
He gave Jiang Xuan a meaningful look.
"It will also cause trouble for your companions."
"court death!"
Ning Meng roared and moved like lightning, rushing straight at the white-clad youth.
Jiang Xuan wanted to stop him, but it was too late.
Just as Ning Meng's fist was about to strike the white-robed youth, a violent sandstorm suddenly swept in, forming a barrier between the two.
Ning Meng's fist slammed into the sand wall, producing a dull thud. The sand wall shattered in response, but Shi Yu had already taken the opportunity to retreat several steps.
“That’s enough.”
A cold voice came from behind them.
Jiang Xuan turned his head and saw a thin man in an old-fashioned imperial military uniform standing behind them.
"Xu Sanqi."
Shi Yu said in a low voice, his expression wary.
Ning Meng wanted to continue, but Jiang Xuan grabbed him.
Don't act impulsively.
Jiang Xuan said in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the man who had suddenly appeared.
He felt a suffocating sense of oppression emanating from the other person, as if he were facing a lurking ferocious beast.
Xu Sanqi's gaze swept over the three of them, finally settling on Shi Yu.
"People from Silver Eagle?"
Shi Yu nodded.
"My father asked me to give you his regards."
Xu Sanqi snorted coldly, not replying, but turning to Jiang Xuan and Ning Meng.
"You two, come with me."
"Why?"
Ning Meng retorted, unconvinced.
A cold glint flashed in Xu Sanqi's eyes, and Ning Meng suddenly groaned, kneeling on one knee with cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Jiang Xuan was shocked; he hadn't even seen how Xu Sanqi made his move.
"In the Bloodthirsty Camp, the consequences of questioning your instructors are something you cannot afford."
Xu Sanqi said coldly.
"Now, everyone board the airship."
As he finished speaking, a silver-gray airship descended from the clouds and hovered above the desert. A blood-stained purple obsidian flower was engraved on the side of the airship—the emblem of the Imperial Bloodthirsty Camp.
Shi Yu walked towards the flying boat first, and whispered as he passed Ning Meng.
"I told you, your temper will ruin you."
Ning Meng gritted his teeth, but Jiang Xuan held his shoulders firmly.
"Be patient; now is not the time to be stubborn."
After boarding the airship, Jiang Xuan saw through the porthole that Shi Yu's entourage was picked up by another silver warship.
Xu Sanqi stood alone at the front of the flying boat, his back view resembling a drawn sword.
The airship passed through the clouds and landed in a cluster of buildings deep in the desert about an hour later.
These buildings were entirely black, gleaming coldly under the blazing sun. In the center of the camp stood a massive sword-shaped stone pillar, inscribed with two lines of blood-red characters.
"The Purple Obsidian Flower endures through bloodshed, and the Empire endures through conquest."
Xu Sanqi stood in front of the stone pillar, his voice icy.
"Remember these words; they will stay with you every day in the Bloodthirsty Camp."
Ning Meng muttered to himself.
"Playing tricks."
Jiang Xuan stared at the two lines of text, a sense of unease rising in his heart. Bloodshed, conquest... this place was even more brutal than he had imagined.
After passing through several heavy metal doors, the three were led to a hall numbered 39.
More than forty boys and girls had gathered in the hall, the youngest looking no more than ten years old and the oldest no more than fifteen.
Everyone stood in silence, and a tense atmosphere filled the air.
"Wait here."
After Xu Sanqi finished speaking, he left the hall.
A moment later, a tall and slender female instructor walked in.
She was wearing a form-fitting black training uniform; her face was beautiful, but her eyes were frighteningly cold.
"I'm Xiao Ke, and from today onwards I'll be in charge of your training."
Her voice wasn't loud, but it instantly silenced the entire hall.
Just then, a boy dressed in fine clothes whistled.
"Wow, beautiful instructor."
Before she could finish speaking, Xiao Ke had already vanished from the spot. The next second, the richly dressed youth screamed and flew out, crashing heavily into the wall before sliding to the ground, unconscious.
"Take it away."
Xiao Ke said expressionlessly, and two black-clad guards immediately stepped forward and dragged the boy out of the hall like a dead dog.
Everyone held their breath.
“Here, any disrespectful behavior will be punished.” Xiao Ke coldly surveyed the crowd.
"Now, listen carefully. The fifty of you will be training here, with the goal of lasting until the end. Those who can't hold out either die or get out."
With a wave of her hand, dozens of booklets flew to each student.
Jiang Xuan caught the book, opened it, and found that it contained detailed records of the Bloodthirsty Camp's various rules and regulations.
"Memorize them all by tomorrow."
Xiao Ke gave the order.
"Now, hand over all your belongings, including your storage artifacts."
Shi Yu was the first to step forward, took a delicate silver necklace from his neck, and placed it in the designated metal box.
Others followed suit.
Jiang Xuan noticed that a young girl hesitated for a moment before putting a hairpin into the box.
Xiao Ke's eyes narrowed.
“You, come here.”
She pointed at the girl.
The girl walked forward, her face pale.
Xiao Ke ripped off her hairpin and squeezed it, causing it to break and revealing a hidden miniature storage space inside.
"Take it away."
Xiao Ke gave the order again.
The girl begged for mercy in terror.
"Instructor, I was wrong! I'll never do it again!"
But the black-clad guards had already grabbed her arms and dragged her out of the hall.
Jiang Xuan and Ning Meng both saw the shock in each other's eyes.
The rules here are stricter than they imagined.
"The remaining forty-eight people, follow me."
Xiao Ke turned and walked towards the exit on the other side of the hall.
The group followed her through a long corridor to an open space.
Ten houses made of black stones were arranged along the edge of the site; they looked simple but sturdy.
On the distant hillside, some dark caves can be vaguely seen.
"Ten stone houses, only enough for ten people to live in."
Xiao Ke pointed to the houses and said.
"The rest of you, sleep in that cave over there."
She clapped her hands, and suddenly the ground in the center of the arena cracked open, revealing a huge iron cage rising up.
A leopard-like beast, entirely black with blood-red eyes, was kept in a cage.
"Blood-Eyed Leopard!"
someone exclaimed.
This ferocious beast is nearly three meters long, with smooth and beautiful muscle lines, yet it exudes a chillingly fierce aura.
Its claws dug deep marks into the ground, and it growled in a low growl.
"Want to live in a stone house? It's simple."
Xiao Ke's voice carried a cruel laugh.
“Kill it alone.”
There was silence.
The Blood-Eyed Leopard is a fourth-tier ferocious beast, equivalent to a human cultivator at the Spirit Lake Realm.
Most of these students were only at the Spirit Stream Realm, and they were currently unarmed.
"What, nobody dares?"
Xiao Ke mocked.
"Are these the future elites of the empire?"
Ning Meng suddenly strode out of the crowd.
"I'll do it!"
Jiang Xuan tried to grab him, but missed.
Xiao Ke looked at Ning Meng, somewhat surprised.
"Are you sure? The consequence of failure could be death."
Ning Meng grinned, his eyes burning with fighting spirit.
"Just a beast."
The Blood-Eyed Leopard seemed to understand the provocation and let out a deafening roar.
Xiao Ke snapped her fingers, and the iron cage door opened.
The Blood-Eyed Leopard burst out of the iron cage and charged straight at Ning Meng! It was so fast that most people present couldn't even see its movements.
Ning Meng neither dodged nor evaded, but instead clashed his fists together violently, unleashing a volcanic eruption of spiritual energy within his body.
"Eight Directions Thunderous Force!"
A violent surge of spiritual energy erupted from his body, and visible lightning crackled around his arms.
Ning Meng charged towards the Blood-Eyed Leopard, unleashing a powerful right punch.
"boom!"
Fists and claws collided, creating a surge of air.
Ning Meng was knocked back three steps, while the Blood-Eyed Leopard was also momentarily stunned by the punch.
"Such immense power!"
Jiang Xuan's pupils contracted slightly; he could feel the terrifying power contained in Ning Meng's punch.
Enraged, the Blood-Eyed Leopard roared and its figure suddenly blurred, transforming into three blood-red afterimages that pounced on Ning Meng from different directions.
"A phantom clone?"
someone exclaimed.
Ning Meng sneered and slammed his fists into the ground.
"Thunder shakes the eight directions!"
The ground cracked, and countless lightning bolts shot out from the cracks, instantly shattering the two phantoms.
Ning Meng turned his body and lashed out with his right leg like a whip, accurately striking the Blood-Eyed Leopard in the waist.
"Ow!"
The Blood-Eyed Leopard was in pain, but its ferocity intensified, and its sharp claws, accompanied by five streaks of blood, clawed towards Ning Meng's chest.
Ning Meng did not flinch or give way, letting the sharp claws tear open his clothes and leave five bloody marks on his skin.
He seized the opportunity to grab the Blood-Eyed Leopard's forelimbs with one hand and gripped its throat with the other.
"Die!"
Ning Meng roared, his arm muscles bulging like writhing dragons, and he actually tore the Blood-Eyed Leopard in two!
Blood rained down, and internal organs were scattered all over the ground.
Ning Meng stood amidst the rain of blood, his body soaked in blood, like a god of war.
There was silence.
Instructor Xiao Ke's expression was one of approval.
"Great, room number 3 is yours."
Ning Meng wiped the blood off his face and grinned.
"Thank you, Instructor."
He strode towards the sidelines, and wherever he went, people made way for him, their eyes filled with apprehension.
Jiang Xuan watched Ning Meng's retreating figure, deeply shocked.
This fighting style, which relies purely on overwhelming force, is so brutal it's outrageous.
"Next."
Instructor Xiao Ke's voice rang out again.
After a brief silence, a young man dressed in a blue robe slowly walked out.
"I'll give it a try."
Jiang Xuan turned his head and recognized Qi Can, whom he had seen in the cave before.
He was handsome and elegant, a stark contrast to the ruggedness of Ningxia and Inner Mongolia.
"Name?"
Instructor Xiao Ke asked.
"Qi Can."
The boy nodded, his voice clear and bright.
The second Blood-Eyed Leopard was released. It seemed to have learned from the previous experience and did not attack immediately. Instead, it paced around Qi Can, looking for an opening.
Qi Can stood still, his hands hanging naturally at his sides, seemingly without any defense.
But Jiang Xuan noticed that there was a faint blue light flowing around his fingertips.
"Roar!"
The Blood-Eyed Leopard suddenly launched an attack, its speed leaving a trail of afterimages.
A glint flashed in Qi Can's eyes, and his right hand slashed out like a knife.
"The Azure Sky Shatters Jade!"
A streak of cyan light appeared out of thin air, striking precisely in the path of the Blood-Eyed Leopard's lunge. The Blood-Eyed Leopard was forced to change direction, but Qi Can's left hand had already quietly formed a hand seal.
"Azure Sky Linked Rings!"
Three cyan blade beams flew out in a triangular formation, blocking all of the Blood-Eyed Leopard's escape routes. The Blood-Eyed Leopard roared and charged through the encirclement, enduring one of the blade beams, leaving a deep, bone-revealing wound on its body.
Qi Can gracefully retreated, maintaining a safe distance from the Blood-Eyed Leopard at all times.
Whenever the Blood-Eyed Leopard approached, he would force it back with his exquisite sword light.
"Such exquisite control."
Jiang Xuan secretly admired him. (End of Chapter)
