Chapter 53: Journey to Nightsong City
Chapter 53: Journey to Nightsong City
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Jacaerys' dragon was still young. The brown-haired boy, like Longziel, always made people ignore their age because of their overly mature behavior. In fact, Jacaerys was only nine years old this year. Perhaps it was in line with the old saying in Westeros about children of questionable bloodline, and both Jacaerys and Xiaolu grew faster than children of the same age. Of course, they were not much faster, so Aslan Longdel readily acknowledged his courage and ability.
After all, being able to hold out for so long in front of a seventeen-year-old boy was enough to prove that Jakaris was indeed somewhat famous.
"Sigh~"
Womax climbed out of the dragon's lair carefully. In front of him, the majestic Womaxor squinted his eyes, as if he was gathering his strength. Womax carefully glanced at the elder dragon, which was many times bigger than himself. Seeing that it ignored him, he rubbed against Jakaris, who was wearing a riding suit with a three-headed dragon pattern.
"Valar, I'll leave the castle to you while I'm away." Longzel, wearing a riding suit with a silver dragon and laurel leaf pattern, patted his brother's shoulder. "If anything happens in Dorne, contact me immediately for major matters, and you can decide on minor matters yourself. Don't worry about the construction of the territory, there are professionals doing it."
"I understand, brother, don't worry, I won't do anything I don't understand." Valar promised. Longzel trusted his younger brother on this point. Although Valar was not very smart, he understood the simple truth that things you don't understand should be left to people who do understand.
Longzel nodded and turned to walk towards Wormisol.
The dragon slowly raised its head and gently bumped Longzel's chest. Longzel conveniently hugged the dragon's mouth that was bigger than his entire body. "Hey, man, we're going again."
The dragon nodded slightly and crouched down. Longzel grabbed the rope ladder and climbed onto the dragon saddle of Wormisol with a grunt.
It was much easier for Jacaerys. He didn't even have to climb. He could just jump onto Vermax's dragon saddle.
Similar to its owner, Womax grew very fast. Perhaps because he was free-range when he was in Dragonstone and Dragon's Nest, Womax still looked very strong.
Of course, it can't be compared with Womisol.
"Xiaojie, let's fly together to save Wormax's energy." Longzel grabbed the handle on the dragon saddle and shouted to Jakaris below.
"Yes, don't worry, my lord. My mother and father taught me how to tame dragons." Jacaerys slowly pulled back the handle on the dragon's saddle.
The little dragon let out a long hiss, spread its wings and flew up.
Womisol also shook his head, spread his wings, and raised a cloud of dust.
The dragon took off.
Longzel felt the wind brushing past his ears, and Womisol sensed that there was a little dragon flying beside him, so his flying became much smoother.
Jakaris felt the thoughts coming from Womax under his crotch. It was indeed much easier to fly with a giant dragon. The little dragon flew for a while and then flattened its wings, letting the airflow created by the giant dragon carry it to fly.
This was one of the few times that Jacaerys' dragon had flown since it was hatched, and Jacaerys was slowly getting used to the flying skills he had learned.
But it's too difficult and Womacks can't do it now.
It turned out that flying was the fastest way to travel. After letting Womax rest for a while and eating half of Womisor's charred stag, the two dragons took off again and soon arrived at the first target location.
Nightsong is a beautiful but scarred castle. Legend has it that its towers can sing ancient songs. But legends are just legends. The greatest significance of this castle lies in its location - guarding the northern end of Prince's Pass. Over the long years, this castle has been besieged at least 37 times. It has witnessed the grievances and hatreds between the Kingdom of the River and the Kingdom of the Storm, and also witnessed the fickleness of the Dornish.
Lord Royce Cullen had already led his men to the castle grounds to wait for the dragon to land. When he received the news that Longzel was going to visit his castle, Lord Royce fell into a deep dilemma. Legally, after the birth of the "Governor of the Borderlands", he should pledge allegiance to the Governor, but as a family that had been subject to the Stormlands for many centuries, it was difficult for the Cullen family to make this decision, especially when Royce's daughter was the wife of Borros Baratheon.
Womisoor landed first. The castle's open space was barely big enough to accommodate the dragon, but it still left room for Womax to land.
"Prince." Count Royce bowed to Longzel. "Your Highness, I have prepared a room and a banquet for you."
"One room will do." Longzel nodded. "And prepare food for my dragon and the prince's dragon. The letter should have explained it."
"It's ready, Your Highness." Count Royce motioned to his men to bring the sheep and cattle over. "We have prepared three cows and 3 sheep, all alive."
"Thank you for your generosity." Longzel nodded and walked into the banquet hall of the castle under the guidance of Count Royce.
Jacaerys was already starving, and when he had time to eat, he threw himself on the table. He focused on the lamb chops and roast chicken in front of him. "Lord Royce, I'm sure you know the purpose of my visit." Longzel said straight to the point. "I want to hear your opinion, after all, you are the elder among the lords of the borderland."
"I dare not." Royce sighed. "I should avoid it, Your Highness, because my daughter is married to Ser Borros Baratheon, and her four daughters are candidates this time."
Longzel chewed the food in his mouth slowly and looked at Count Royce without saying a word, wanting to see what he would say next.
"Out of selfishness, I would suggest that you marry my granddaughter or my niece." Count Royce motioned to the girl who was quietly eating fruit to stand up.
"Tia Cullen, my niece." Count Royce introduced the quiet, petite girl.
"You should know that my marriage is not a simple matter." Longzel sighed, "Are you mentally prepared?"
Count Royce also sighed and shook his head. "Prince, there is really no other way. The loyalty and tradition of the Cullen family for more than a dozen centuries are not so easy to change, so I am just making a suggestion."
Seeing that her uncle did not mention her again and Longzel did not look at her, Tia Karen could only sigh and sit back in her seat.
Although she was indeed attracted by Longzel's handsomeness, she had no say in matters such as marriage.
Lord Royce continued, "The Cullens cannot pledge their loyalty to you, so they dare not ask for a marriage alliance with you." He raised his glass. "But we can still be solid allies. After all, after a thousand years, we finally see the damned Dornishmen pay the price. Let us toast to Prince Longzel's wisdom."
Everyone at the banquet raised their glasses, and Jacaerys also raised the milk in his glass. Count Royce was the first to drink the red wine in his glass, and the maid beside him refilled his glass with fine wine.
"Let us drink to the bravery of Prince Jacaerys and Prince Luthrys."
Count Royce drank the wine again.
"Let us drink to His Majesty King Viserys I!"
After the banquet, Count Royce was carried back to his bedroom. But Longzel and Jacaris were still awake. The room that the Cullen family arranged for them had two large and comfortable beds. One of them was obviously just moved in.
"Your Majesty, Count Royce seems to be trying to escape from reality." Prince Jacaris washed his body with clean water and changed into comfortable pajamas.
"He is unwilling to bear the consequences of changing his allegiance." Longzel sat cross-legged on the bed. "After all, his interests are closely tied to the Baratheon family. Xiaojie, go to bed early. We will fly to Horn Hill early tomorrow morning."
"Yeah." Jacaerys lay down on the bed obediently.
At this moment, the door creaked open.
An ordinary man flashed in.
"Your Highness, someone has sent the girl back to her room." No one knew how the Faceless Man did it. Anyway, Kungur arrived at Nightsong City even earlier than Longzel. "She was just lingering at the door of your room."
"Tia Cullen?"
Kungur nodded. "But the girl never seemed to make up her mind to enter your room."
"Alas." Longzel sighed. "You will have to stand guard tonight."
"This is someone's mission." Kungur said softly, and his body slowly disappeared into the shadows.
Longzel looked at the place where Kungur disappeared for a while and blew out the candle that provided the light.
Darkness enveloped the entire room.
The update time will be adjusted today, and it will be updated at a later time in the human world.
