Chapter 111: Battle of Oldtown

Chapter 111: Battle of Oldtown
The Reach, Oldtown.

This huge city has a long history as huge as its size. Legend has it that it was the largest city in Westeros as early as the time of the First Kings. Even today, it is still above King's Landing and Lannisport. The huge city is protected by multiple layers of walls with beautiful and magnificent buildings. The Starry Cathedral where the Archbishop resides stands in the city. The Sailor's Cathedral, the Lord's Cathedral, the Seven Temples, and the House of the Virgin are scattered throughout the Old Town, but they all guard the Starry Cathedral where the Archbishop is located. The glory of the Seven Gods always shines on this great city. The exotic temples are distributed near the docks, including the Red Temple of R'hllor, the Lord of Light, the Black Goat Temple, the High Shepherd Temple, the Moon Singer Temple, and even the Temple of the Pale Child and the Blood Temple. But these temples are overshadowed by the light of the Seven Gods.

Before the war broke out, the docks of Oldtown welcomed merchant ships from all over the world, even merchant ships from Asshai and Qarth came here to trade, and Vareses's silver fleet also brought luxury goods such as silk to sell here. Unlike King's Landing, the entire city has both the beautiful scenery of the harbor and the canals and trickling streams dotted the streets and alleys of the city. Cleanliness and freshness are the first impression of every traveler who arrives in Oldtown.

The Citadel, the academic center of Westeros, also stands here. This huge complex of buildings is located beside the Mead River. A huge stone arch bridge connects the towering towers. Two green sphinx statues are located at the main entrance of the Citadel, symbolizing the endless pursuit of knowledge. Once the residence of the Pirate King, it has now become an ancient fortress where scholars raise ravens. Every year, gray-robed scholars wear necklaces and go to the castles of each lord to provide them with the power of knowledge.

The towering tower on the island of conquest is the core of the city. This 200-foot-tall stone tower rises from the black stone of the vanished ancient people. In peaceful years, the tower will light a flame that never goes out day and night to illuminate the route for ships passing by.

But now, the city is lifeless. From the towering towers, pale green flames rise into the sky, telling its residents that war is coming.

The fleet of Qingting Island blockaded the port. The once bustling merchant ships were no longer visible. Only the wreckage of the Old Town's fleet was burning in the port.

Silver Wing and Womax spread their wings and flew outside the city. They had just destroyed all the dragon-hunting scorpion crossbows on the city wall. Now, only the Hightower coalition forces, surrounded by 35,000 coalition troops, were still struggling to hold on.

Earl Mond ordered Oldtown to lock its gates. He knew that if they defended the city, the Hightower clan and the entire Oldtown would be engulfed in flames.

Only by fighting under the city wall, even if you die, there is still a chance that people in the city will surrender and your family may be saved.

"Lord Mond, what should we do now?" Lord Ulwin Peake galloped to Lord Mond. He was already disappointed with the situation. The three castles of House Peake were conquered by Vareses' army, and Nightsong City surrendered to Lynn Vartarken. Even the Tyrell family officially opened the castle, and Lady Janesia Fossoway, holding the still-feeding Lyonel Tyrell, led the army to join the crusade.

In the northern riverlands, the sick Lord Grafford Tully died when he learned that Sunfyre and Vhagar had fallen one after another, and Aegon the Great was unknown whether he was alive or dead. Aemond's body was hung on a spear for display. Elmond Tully took over the position of Lord of Riverrun. The young Lord immediately led his sons Kermit Tully and Oscar Tully to the south, and together with Forrest Frey, commanded the riverlands and the Westerlands coalition to the south of the Reach. At the head of the army was Aemond's charred head hanging on the tip of a spear.

"Let's make one last charge." Lord Mond drew his Valyrian steel sword and stood alert. "Show them our courage."

"The Queen and the Princes and Princesses"

"With the queen here, everything will be easy." Earl Mond urged his horses, and his vassals and the knights of the Hightower family led the cavalry of the Hightower family and the Peak family to launch the first charge, followed by the infantry and peasant soldiers.

On a normal battlefield, using cavalry to charge head-on into the enemy's army would be tantamount to suicide. But such a charge in a desperate situation is always admirable.

"What a pity, what a pity." Valar shook his head. He arranged for Jacaris to return to the army to take command. If he was not a dragon knight, he would also like to experience the moment of facing the opponent's desperate charge.

But now he could only throw away these knight's honor, warrior's honor and the like, swooping down on his silver wings, pouring dragon flames on the infantry group behind him.

The moment the Hightower cavalry charged into the Black Party coalition, they were overwhelmed. Lord Mond Hightower was stabbed off his horse by a spearman, and he faced Lord Alan Tarly. Lord Mond, who had little swordsmanship, was cut in half by Alan's sword almost as soon as they met.

Alan Tarly looked at Lord Mond's body, sighed, and was about to pick up his guard, but a young voice stopped him.

"Let go of my father's sword!" That was a young boy who looked very immature, being pinned down by a Bixbury knight who looked somewhat like Count Mond. Alan searched his memory and signaled the knight to let him go. "You are Leonor Hightower, I've heard my sister mention you before, the seven levels of hell, you want to seduce my sister? Your stepmother? Don't look at me, I'll pay for his ransom." Alan glared at the Bixbury knight who was looking at him eagerly, then looked at Leonor.

Leonor broke free from the knight and rushed to his father's body with red eyes. Before he could pick up his guard, his head rolled together with his father's head. "Silly boy, didn't my sister tell you what war is?" Alan looked at Leonor's wide eyes with a look of looking at a fool, sighed, picked up his guard, and threw a bag of gold coins to the knight. "Another Hightower?" As the silver wings flew over the battlefield, Valar happened to see the two heads under Alan's feet.

"Two Hightowers. I guess after the war, the bards will call you the Hightower Slayer, little Alan." Valar smiled and pulled up the silver-winged gauntlet, manipulating the dragon to fly into the air again, spewing out another wave of flames. Suddenly, a long dragon roar came from the sky.

Womithor also arrived. As soon as the bronze dragon arrived at the battlefield, it sent a long dragon flame to the infantry of the Hightower family, instantly leaving a long trail of ash on the battlefield.

Martin Hightower, the second son of Lord Mond, and his cousin Miss Hightower met Lord Thaddeus Rowan and Ser Harlon Tyrell. Miss was about to surrender without hesitation, but Martin chopped off his head with a sword. "Hightower doesn't need traitors. Bah." Then he rushed to Lord Thaddeus.

Sir Harron wiped the hammer in his hand. Martin's young body was still steaming at his feet. Harron almost smashed the boy's head with one blow. "Lord Rowan, the Hightower family is finished." "Yes, Lionel, Martin, almost all the men of the Hightower family have gone to the battlefield." Lord Rowan sighed. For power, the Hightower family paid a heavy price.

The last Hightower commander, Harry Hightower, led more than ten cavalrymen to try to attack the position of the Marewies family. They were shot back by arrows. Harry rushed out of the encirclement under more than a dozen arrows and rushed to Earl Urwin who had just been knocked off his horse by the dragon flame of Silver Wing. "Lord Urwin, please return to the Tower immediately and inform Her Majesty the Queen that the situation is critical. Ask her to make a decision as soon as possible. Urwin, what do you want to do!"

"Let the adults decide for her." Harry covered his neck in shock. Urwin held up his sword and said tiredly, "Hightower is finished. Oldtown can't be defended. My castle is gone. The Peak family must survive."

Lord Peake cut off Harry Hightower's head with another sword and hung it on the spear of the cavalry beside him to indicate that he had surrendered.

He was given a path.

Urwin Peake opens the gates of Oldtown.

At this time, the Starry Temple.

The archbishop wearing a crystal crown looked at Queen Helena kneeling in front of the statue of the Virgin Mary and praying silently, and the three children playing nearby. He wanted to say something, but he dared not say anything.

"Your Majesty, Earl Urwin has opened the city gates, and the Black Party's army has entered the city." A bishop trotted to the Archbishop: "Now the three dragons of the Black Party have flown over the Old Town."

"Your Majesty." The Archbishop wanted to say something, but was interrupted by an equally loud dragon roar. In the square of the Starry Cathedral, Menghuo let out a deafening roar at his fellow creatures in the sky, but did not rush up to fight with them.

After all, both Wormithor and Silver Wing were here. Queen Helena was not on its back either, and Dreamfire had no way to deal with it.

School City.

"Doctor, Doctor." A masked Cardinal Doctor stumbled into the room where the Cardinal was. "The dragon, the dragon has entered the city."

"Don't panic, don't panic." Doctor Mukun of the Citadel stopped the doctor. "The dragons have entered the city, Silver Wing, Womax? And which other one?"

"Vormithal, Doctor." The visitor said nervously, "I saw Vormithal flying towards the Citadel."

"Relax, relax. No lord would ever choose to destroy the city." Dr. Mu Kun comforted him, but his face hidden under the mask was also full of tension.

The Citadel is indeed doing something that the Targaryens and the Vareses cannot know. They have been committed to creating a world without magic. Therefore, dragons have become an important object of their research. Through the research of Septon Bath and the information provided by "Dragonless" Vaegon Targaryen, the Citadel has indeed done something through the scholars of King's Landing.

If these things are discovered,
Dr. Mu Kun immediately threw these terrible thoughts out of his mind. What he needed to consider now was to gather the doctors as soon as possible to welcome the Dragon King who was about to arrive.

Towering tower.

Samantha Tully looked out the window quietly. From her room, she could clearly see the Black Gang marching into the city.

"Madam, please." Hobart Hightower stood at her door and begged, "Your sister is the wife of Prince Longzel. Please save the Hightower family."
