Chapter 421: Heart Sutra

The "Heart Sutra" that the old monk taught Xiaoyu has only 108 sentences, and including punctuation marks, it is less than a thousand words.

Xiaoyu is somewhat familiar with the "Heart Sutra", which is the "Heart Sutra" with the verse "Shariputra, form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form, form is emptiness, emptiness is form".

"The opening line is 'Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva'. Could this be the scripture of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva?"

The old monk asked back: "In your Tai Chi Changchun Gong, the first chapter is 'Tai Chi'. Did you create 'Tai Chi'? Or was your breathing method created by Taishang Laojun?"

Xiao Yu said thoughtfully: "Tai Chi was not created by anyone. Tai Chi is the Great Dao, but it was recognized and confirmed by Laojun. I did not name it casually. My practice method did refer to the 'meaning of Tai Chi'."

The old monk said: "'Guanyin' and 'Tathagata' are similar to 'Taiji', 'Yin Yang' and 'Four Symbols' in Taiyi Xuanmen.

Taking away all Buddhist teachings and achievements, the real names of Guanyin and Tathagata should be "Cihang" and "Shakyamuni".

Of course, both Cihang and Sakyamuni have gone through countless reincarnations, and have many names in the past and future.”

Xiao Yu asked, "In other words, the Heart Sutra has nothing to do with Guanyin Bodhisattva?"

The old monk shook his head, "The Heart Sutra is not an orthodox sutra. At least at this time, it has not been widely circulated in Lingshan.

Although Lingshan is divided into many sects, it also holds a grand gathering of all the sects.

At the rally, representatives from various sects took turns to go on stage and preach.

The Duoxinjing is the summary made by Cihang after listening to the Dharmas of various sects during the third great gathering.

Therefore, the text of the "Duo Xin Jing" was created by Cihang, but the mind method described in the "Duo Xin Jing" was not her original method. "

Xiao Yu asked excitedly, "The Heart Sutra is the general outline of the Buddhist method of cultivating the mind?"

The old monk pondered and said, "You are not wrong to think so. This Heart Sutra is the general sutra for cultivating the truth and the gateway to becoming a Buddha.

Even if a person is stupid or lacks wisdom, if he recites the Heart Sutra frequently, he can get rid of the demons in his heart and not be harmed by them.

Your wisdom is definitely far inferior to that of Ananda, Nagarjuna, Subhuti and the like.

But compared to the ordinary people in the three realms, you can be said to have "quite a lot of potential".

But 'root capacity' is like 'immortal bones' in Qigong cultivation. Immortal bones alone are far from enough to become a celestial immortal.

Having the talent but no hard work is like painting a flower in a mirror, which only has the appearance.

At this point, the old monk raised his palm as big as a palm leaf fan again, patted Xiao Yu on the top of his head, and said: "I am teaching you the Heart Sutra on behalf of Dipankara Buddha.

Now that we are about to part, I would like to give you something.

Remember, what I teach you is no less valuable than the Heart Sutra."

Xiaoyu was shocked and immediately focused, looking at the old monk expectantly.

The Buddha's light shone brightly from the old monk's palm, and Xiaoyu felt as if the window of his own soul was being cleaned from inside to outside with a brush. The bright mirror of his heart was wiped clean without a speck of dust. He felt so relaxed and clear.

"Practice Buddhism and cultivate hardship in the world!" The old monk opened his mouth, and each syllable was loud and clear, as if nine-day divine thunder had fallen on Xiaoyu's heart, making her head buzz and her body sway.

"Okay." The old monk let go of his hand and asked, "I have finished teaching you the Dharma. What do you think?"

Xiao Yu asked blankly: "What method did you teach me?"

"Pa!" The old monk raised his hand and slapped her on the back of the head, almost knocking her to the ground.

"What do you think?" he shouted again.

Xiao Yu's thoughts sank into his heart for a while, and then he realized something: "Practicing Buddhism is a hard practice in the human world."

The old monk nodded slightly, showing satisfaction, "There are countless monks who have been taught Buddhist scriptures on Lingshan Mountain.

They themselves are extremely talented, but why are there so few who can achieve Buddhahood?
Not to mention becoming a Buddha, even the status of an Arhat is difficult to attain.

The key to success in Taoist Qi training is immortal roots, immortal blessings, and immortal fate.

With these three, even if one plays around in the secular world, one can form the "Returning Pill" within a few years and achieve the status of a celestial being.

In Buddhist practice, wisdom is very important, and Buddhist teachings are also important.

But Buddhist teachings and wisdom are just the foundation. In Buddhism, the most important thing is asceticism.

I told you before that Jin Chanzi attained enlightenment on his own and completed the seven levels of realization of the mind. How amazing is that?
But he is probably the most difficult one to achieve Buddhahood among all the disciples of Tathagata.

If he were in Taoism, he would have already achieved the status of Golden Immortal by now.

Taoism focuses on "enlightenment" and does not require ascetic practice.

If you don’t have the aptitude, hard work is useless.

Taoists only need to "cultivate in silence", and the purpose of silence is to calm the mind.

If a monk wants to become a Buddha, he must endure hardships, and he must be willing to endure hardships and understand how to endure hardships.

The "suffering" in asceticism is the only way to realize the true nature of the mind."

Xiao Yu was puzzled: "Hasn't Jin Chanzi already completed the seven stages of enlightenment and found his true heart? Why does he still need to realize his true nature?"

The old monk said calmly: "You also said, it's just 'finding'. 'Finding' is the beginning, not the end.

Just like the immortals in Taoism, the "golden elixir" they produce is not the real golden elixir, but the returning elixir.

Only when the 'Huan Dan' is cultivated to maturity and the transformation into pure yang and pure yin is completed, there is a chance to turn it into an immortal and indestructible golden elixir. At that time, the celestial immortal will also become a golden immortal.

Now that you are a mortal, you feel that celestial beings are extremely precious.

If you cannot become a Golden Immortal, there is no difference between Heavenly Immortals, Earthly Immortals, Godly Immortals, Human Immortals, and mortals in the eyes of Daozu. "

Xiao Yu nodded solemnly and said, "Thank you for your guidance, Master. I will definitely practice Buddhism and cultivate diligently."

The old monk taught her more than just the four words "practice hard".

There is a Buddhist verse: The body is a bodhi tree, the mind is a mirror. Always wipe it, don't let it be stained with dust!

There is also: There is no Bodhi tree, nor is there a mirror stand. There is nothing at all, so where can dust gather?
The latter's realm is obviously higher than the former's.

But whether the former or the latter, they are just stating a state.

It may not even be their respective real-life status, but rather imagination and bragging.

It's like two street urchins bragging about what they're going to have for dinner if they become emperors.

Idle man A said: I want to eat delicacies from land and sea, abalone and bird's nest.

Idle Man B said: What are the delicacies from the mountains and the sea, shark fins and bird's nests? I will use them to feed pigs and chickens, and then slaughter the chickens and pigs that have grown up eating delicacies from the mountains and the sea, and ask the imperial chefs in the palace to cook them well.

Obviously, what Idle Man B said shocked the audience even more.

The problem is that neither of the two idlers explained the specific steps to achieve this result.

Whether it is "constantly wipe it" or "originally there is nothing", it is both a very high state of mind.

Even ordinary people who have just read the Buddhist scriptures understand that "emptiness" is the realm of Buddha, but how can one reach the realm of emptiness?

While the old monk patted Xiaoyu on the head and gave him a scolding, he also made Xiaoyu realize how to "practice Buddhism and endure hardships in the human world."

He taught her specific, actionable steps.

This is the most important.

The old monk taught her a method of asceticism, which in essence means "keep your mind like a mirror and wipe it all the time" - wipe your own soul and keep it clean and transparent.

The realm is not too high.

The key is that Xiaoyu can now indeed cleanse his soul through hard practice.

The old monk stood up, looked at the sun sinking behind the mountains in the west, and said, "It's dawn, you can go now."

As soon as the words fell, the scenery under the Bodhi tree was split into two, like two pictures on a TV screen.

One picture shows a Bodhi tree shining brightly under the golden sunset, as if chanting Buddhist music; the other picture shows the dim bedroom of Xiaojingxuan.

The former is the old monk’s dream, and the latter is Xiaoyu’s dream.

Xiaoyu left the Bodhi tree, entered Xiaojingxuan's bedroom, and parted ways with the old monk.

"Master, I have one last question. Did you kill the Rotten Demon Eye before?" Xiaoyu asked.

The old monk shook his head and said, “When you say ‘death’, it means it was ‘life’ before.

But its previous state was already considered "dead" in the Pangu world.

He was struck to death by the great god Pangu, and was obliterated by the great road of Pangu's world. Just like a millstone grinding beans, only an eyeball was left, and he was completely dead.

If you chop the corpse with your sword, can you kill it again?"

"It may have died before, but it still has its own will and can snatch my mental strength." Xiaoyu said.

"Having self-will doesn't mean it's alive," said the old monk.

Xiao Yu said in confusion: "Master, let's not be pedantic, and don't worry about how Pangu World defines 'life and death'.

Just talking about the state of the Demon Eye, its will can be destroyed, can it still hurt me in a dream?"

The old monk asked, "What is the purpose of refining qi and cultivating immortality?"

Xiao Yu was stunned for a moment, and said, "Long life and long life."

"If you go to heaven and be a priest, and behave yourself, be honest and obedient, you can live as long as the heaven. Are you satisfied?" the old monk asked again.

Xiao Yu thought for a moment and said, "I want to jump out of the five elements, not enter reincarnation, and be neither born nor dead."

The old monk said, "Then why are you asking? The Chaos Demon God must have surpassed the realm of immortality.

My flying knife only cut the big eyeball into two pieces.

It definitely stayed quiet for a while, but it didn't disappear.

When you have successfully cultivated your mind and your soul is pure and spotless, evil thoughts will no longer be able to affect you."

Xiaoyu bowed to him three times and slowly retreated into Xiaojingxuan's bedroom at the back.

Once you return to Xiaojingxuan, the scenery of the Bodhi tree and Lingshan Mountain disappears instantly.

Xiaoyu stood in Xiaojingxuan's bedroom in her dream, feeling empty and lost.

"Hey, take a nap first."

Xiaoyu looked at the bed, hesitated for a moment, and did not lie down, but sat down.

"Shariputra, all dharmas are empty in nature, neither born nor destroyed, neither defiled nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing."

The sound of chanting sutras rang out in the small pavilion and drifted faintly outside the house.

The outside of the house in the dream was originally gray and turbid, but now the gray and black gradually faded away, and a ray of white light appeared.

If you look at the Dreamland Pavilion from the "outside", it seems to become clean and transparent, and is glowing faintly.

Xiaoyu was woken up by Aunt Liu outside the house.

"Xiao Fengxian, are you okay?"

Aunt Liu was alone, and Ziying and the others were blocked outside and not even allowed to enter the courtyard gate.

When she saw Xiaoyu in the house, she was a little surprised. "You look not only much more energetic, but also have a kind of superior demeanor. Are you practicing immortal martial arts?"

For a moment, she seemed to see Xiaoyu's face glowing.

But Xiaoyu was too young to make her think of "dignified appearance", but rather she had a refined temperament.

Xiao Yu said: "I had a good sleep last night, and I feel much better.

If you don't disturb me, I'll sleep till sunset.

I think I will feel refreshed and energetic.”

Her condition now was much better than in the previous few days, but it was still much worse than before she was cursed by the Seven Arrows Book.

The "spirit" that was dispersed by the Seven Arrows Curse has not returned yet.

Aunt Liu turned around and closed the door, then came up to Xiaoyu and whispered, "I didn't intend to disturb your sweet dreams, but I just finished breakfast today, and the big black man in Tianbaoju is the Kunlun slave 'Fat Moler' raised by Shaoyao.

He sent over a letter, it was from Shaoyao.

She asked me to come and see how you are doing. Zhao Zhen is dead, and she is worried about you."

Aunt Liu only knew that Xiaoyu was in a bad condition, and didn't know about Zhao Zhen and the Seven Arrows Book.

Xiao Yu said, "Just come here, Fatty. No one in Yonghe Palace is looking for you?"

Aunt Liu shook her head and said, "Hongxiufang is the property of the Prince of Qinghe, and I belong to the Prince of Qinghe.

As a servant, I dare not disobey orders, but can His Royal Highness trust me on important matters?"

If the prince gave an order, she would definitely obey it. But then, she would immediately send a message to Qinghe Villa and explain the matter clearly.

No matter what private matters the prince had, she dared not hide them from Prince Qinghe.

The prince understood this, so he would never use her.

Xiao Yu asked, "Besides asking about my condition, did Shaoyao say anything else?"

Aunt Liu shook her head and said, "She may have some concerns and didn't elaborate in the letter. Alas, she cares about you so much, but she couldn't come in person, which is very telling.

But I have my own channels and have heard a lot of news. Do you want to hear it?"

"Is it related to Zhao Zhen?" Xiaoyu asked.

Aunt Liu looked strange and said, “Zhao Zhen was killed by Master Xiang Tianshi.

The Leng Mansion’s Longxiang ships were all burned and could not be saved, and sank to the bottom of the river.”

Then she recounted in detail what happened on the Longxiang Tower ship last night.

She described the whole process in great detail, even recounting in full what she said to the Heavenly Master after waking up in the morning.

"Master Xiang did not blame others. He admitted that he was possessed by a ghost at the time. He should not have jumped off the altar, and he should not have pushed Zhao Zhen away just because his skin was burning. Looking back now, he feels extremely regretful."

——It would have been fine if Zhao Zhen had exploded, but the Seven Arrows Book was actually burned.
Xiaoyu immediately thought of the old monk.

She felt that Master Xiang was not taking the blame for her, but was being "pushed" by the old monk.

She had seen the book of seven arrows with her own eyes and had also felt it with her spiritual eyes.

It is indeed a magic weapon.

Not to mention the outer bronze spine and book cover, the pages are made of special animal skins and processed with Taoist magic. The spells recorded inside contain the power of rules.

After being buried in the ground for tens of thousands of years, it was mostly intact with only broken edges. How could it be ignited by "ordinary fire"?
Of course, she was not at the scene and had no chance to ask the old monk.

Perhaps, as the prince and others speculated, the backlash spread to the copycat Seven Arrows Book?
"You even know about Master Xiang Tian's regret. Have you really never met the prince?" Xiao Yu asked doubtfully.

Aunt Liu sneered and said, “To be disrespectful, even if the prince moves into Yonghe Palace, Yingxiang Mansion is still the Yingxiang Mansion of the Prince of Qinghe.

Whatever the prince knows, the prince knows for sure; there are many things the prince doesn’t know, but the prince still knows them.”

"Does Your Majesty know that I was cursed by the Crown Prince?" Xiao Yu asked.
