Chapter 7 Big Ram

"But what?"

Shen Xing was puzzled. When did Uncle Bai become so blunt? This shouldn't be the case. In his impression, Uncle Bai was a straightforward man from Northeast China who never hid anything. He was also very generous. If there was a power outage or a broken TV in a neighbor's house, they would call Uncle Bai and he would come with tools. He would not charge for repairing it and would just ask the host to treat him to a drink and a meal.

Although people will change, Shen Xing believes that Uncle Bai will not change.

"Xiaoxing, it's not that I don't want to help you, the main thing is..." Uncle Bai glanced at the house in the sheep pen, and hesitated to speak, as if he had something to hide.

"Uncle, are you inconvenienced?" Shen Xing also glanced at the sheep pen and asked curiously.

"It's not a matter of inconvenience, it's mainly a bit troublesome."

Uncle Bai sighed, and suddenly became depressed, as if he had lost his spirit. He took out a pack of Changbai Mountain cigarettes from his shirt pocket, shook out two cigarettes, held one in his hand, and handed the other to Shen Xing.

"Uncle, I don't smoke." Shen Xing waved his hand to refuse.

Uncle Bai had no choice but to hang the cigarette he was handed over on his ear.
"Where's my lighter?"

Uncle Bai searched his body and finally found a gasoline lighter in another shirt pocket.

He lit a cigarette, took a puff and exhaled white smoke.

Shen Xing quietly watched Uncle Bai finish smoking the cigarette, and his intuition told him that there was a story behind it!

Sure enough, after Uncle Bai finished smoking a Changbai Mountain cigarette, he seemed to have regained some energy and told Shen Xing the whole story.

It turned out that in addition to the two ewes in Uncle Bai's sheepfold, there was also a ram specifically used for breeding. The ram was large in size, ferocious in character, and had a particularly strong sense of territory.

Uncle Bai was cleaning the sheep pen and clearing out the feces. He was butted several times by the ram and suffered a back injury.

This is secondary. After the ewe gave birth, the ram became more aware of its territory and would not let anyone get close to the ewe. A few days ago, Ma Lengzi from the west end of the village came to Uncle Bai and asked for some goat milk for his little kids.

Uncle Bai said that his sheep were fierce, so he told Ma Lengzi not to enter the sheep pen. He would never allow Ma Lengzi to go in to milk the sheep, so he drove Ma Lengzi away.

Ma Lengzi didn't believe it, so he sneaked in to milk the goat when Uncle Bai was not at home, and shouted that a broken ram could not do anything to him.

As soon as he entered the sheepfold, something happened. The ram saw a stranger in the sheepfold and set his eyes on the ewe. He started to charge at the ewe like a madman, crying and shouting for his parents. The whole village was called over and finally the ram was subdued and his life was saved.

Although Ma Lengzi sneaked in and had several broken ribs, this was Uncle Bai's sheepfold after all, and the sheep that injured Ma Lengzi were his own sheep. Uncle Bai had to take the blame. He paid several thousand yuan for medical expenses and promised to give Ma Lengzi a lamb. Only then did Ma Lengzi agree to stop bothering Uncle Bai.

As soon as Uncle Bai finished speaking, Shen Xing suddenly realized that Uncle Bai was afraid that he would get hurt if he entered the sheep pen, so he didn't agree to let him milk the goats.

"Ma Lengzi, oh, it's him."

Shen Xing had an impression of this guy. He was a ruffian in the village, a few years older than him, and dropped out of school before finishing junior high school. Shen Xing had met his wife today, the woman who had clamored to buy a house in a big city and would not come back to this shabby village.

"Xiaoxing, it's not that I don't want to help you, it's mainly because I'm afraid something might happen to you. That ram is very vicious and will butt anyone it catches. I've been butted several times before, and I'm really scared..."

Uncle Bai glanced at the two bowls of hot dumplings in Shen Xing's hands and smiled helplessly.

"If you want to drink milk, I have a few boxes of pure milk I bought from relatives during the Chinese New Year. I'll send them to your house later."

Uncle Bai then said that he guessed Shen Xing came to milk the goat because he had been in the big city for too long and was not used to the food at home, so he wanted to get some goat milk to drink.

"Uncle, no need." Shen Xing waved his hand.

He turned his head and looked at the sheepfold. There seemed to be a pair of eyes looking at him in the darkness of the sheepfold. It was the big ram.

"Uncle, these are the dumplings my mom made today. I brought you two bowls." Shen Xing smiled and handed the dumplings to Uncle Bai. Uncle Bai threw away the cigarette butt in his hand and took the two bowls of dumplings. "The sauerkraut pork dumplings your mom made are really delicious. Our Muwu Village has a unique craft." Uncle Bai smelled the fragrance of the dumplings and couldn't help but praise.

"Please thank your mother for me. I'll call your aunt later. She's going to the market. I'll ask her to bring you a big watermelon."

Early July, early summer, is a good time to eat watermelon.

"Uncle, no need, just let me try."

Uncle Bai thought Shen Xing had given up, but he didn't expect him to change the subject and use the "dumpling trick" first, which made Uncle Bai look stunned.

"Shen Xing! Uncle is not kidding you. That beast is very ferocious. If it hurts you accidentally, how am I going to explain to your parents?" Uncle Bai raised his tone and refused sternly.

"To be honest, Uncle Bai, my dad picked up a little wild cat today. It's out of food and is waiting to be fed."

Seeing that Uncle Bai refused to give in, Shen Xing had to make up an excuse. He polished his pen a few times and said that he had picked up a tiger cub today and that he had picked up a wild cat.

He was prepared to appeal to Uncle Bai's emotions and explain things to him rationally.

Uncle Bai is also a mountain herder, and he is very caring towards the countless creatures in Changbai Mountain.

Sure enough, when Shen Xing mentioned that he wanted to get goat milk for the little wild cat, Uncle Bai's face changed and he began to hesitate.

"Little wild cat? That's pitiful. It's so young and it has no breast milk to drink."

"So uncle, what do you think?"

When Shen Xing heard this, he knew that Uncle Bai had given in and the situation had taken a turn for the better.

"Okay, okay, be careful. I'll keep watch for you. If the situation doesn't suit you, get out here right away!" Uncle Bai glanced at Shen Xing and said helplessly.

"Thank you, uncle." Shen Xing narrowed his eyes and smiled.

He can speak "animal language" and has the trump card of "animal affinity", so it should not be difficult for him to get into the sheep pen and get some goat milk.

Uncle Bai brought the dumplings back to the house and came out with the key.

The last incident with Ma Lengzi caused Uncle Bai to lose thousands of dollars and a lamb, so just in case, he reinforced the sheep pen, raised the railings, installed a door, and locked it.

"Be careful." Uncle Bai took the key to unlock the lock and instructed Shen Xing.

Shen Xing nodded, took a basin, and walked into the sheep pen.

When they saw a stranger entering the pen, the two ewes that were grazing were obviously frightened and retreated in panic. The lambs wrapped around the hind legs of the two ewes, also very scared.

"Shen Xing, be careful!" Suddenly, Uncle Bai shouted outside the door.

Shen Xing looked in the direction of the sound and saw the big ram in the greenhouse, with its sharp and thick horns, moving its limbs and charging towards him with hostility.

The ram was huge in size, had sharp horns, and charged at a fast speed. It took advantage of Shen Xing's inattention to suddenly attack him. If Shen Xing was hit by the horns, he would be seriously injured if not killed.

Uncle Bai was anxious outside the door, so he quickly picked up a shovel and rushed into the sheep pen to rescue Shen Xing.

"Brother Yang, don't worry, I came in to see you." Shen Xing said with a smile.

Under Uncle Bai's astonished gaze, the big ram, which was more ferocious than any wild beast, stopped for some unknown reason.
