Warhammer: Angron Training Manual
Chapter 25: Rope of Triumph
Chapter 25: Rope of Triumph
"Now, let's carve the rope of triumph!"
Crest turned and shouted to the gladiators.
All the gladiators immediately stood up from the ground and looked for sharp objects that could be used to cut something.
Stones, debris, bones left over from previous deaths.
"What is the Rope of Triumph?" Angron asked curiously.
Crest was so immersed in his excitement that he didn't notice Angron's question.
So it was Ono who answered Angron.
"The Rope of Triumph is a ritual." Ono turned around and lifted his shirt, showing his back to Angron.
Angron noticed that there was a vertical line on Ono's back that ran along the spine. The line was red and black, and looked like some kind of scale.
"Warrior fights are a tradition in Nuceria, and they have existed for a long time." Ono explained, "A long, long time ago, there was a tradition in the arena that the winner would have a line carved on his spine, extending from the spine to the waist. Every time he won a fight, he would have a small cut, and slowly it would turn into a line."
Angron was puzzled: "We hate the Colosseum, so why do we impose its rules and traditions on ourselves?"
"Because this tradition is older than the history of the oldest High Knight family. It was originally a way for soldiers in the army to record honor and shame." Ono said as he handed a sharpened stone to the gladiator beside him.
Qin Xia watched this scene. He was familiar with this ceremony called the Rope of Triumph.
As far as he knew, if everything had gone as planned, Angron would have brought this tradition to the World Eaters after he became the Lord of the Legion.
If the World Eaters fail to capture a world within 31 suns, they will leave a black line of shame on the Rope of Triumph.
The intermittent red and black lines on Ono's spine are the rope of triumph. The red line represents glory and victory, and the black line represents shame and failure.
It is easy to leave a red line. Just make a small wound, like putting a blood spot on a straight line.
If you want to leave a black line, you need to stuff some soil into the wound after it is opened, and the wound will turn black after it heals.
"Wait, guys." Crest suddenly had an idea. "We won today because of this medium-sized guy. He shared the honor and victory with us. How about letting him help us carve the blood line?"
Kleist's idea immediately received a response from everyone.
The gladiators gathered together and lined up, showing their backs to Qin Xia.
Having companions come behind and carve a blood line with a sharp weapon is also a way for gladiators to show trust and friendship.
"Let me do it?" Qin Xia stood up and took the sharp bone fragment handed to him by a gladiator. "Okay, but this is my first time carving. Don't blame me if it gets crooked on the left side of my butt."
As Qin Xia spoke, he passed behind everyone.
His movements were swift and his shots were extremely precise.
A small bloody wound was left on the triumphal rope made of blood behind each gladiator.
Not until Qin Xia added a new line to the triumphal rope of all gladiators did he stop and look at Angron, asking him with his eyes if he wanted to accept such a tradition.
To the uneducated Angron, traditions of any kind seemed meaningless.
But the glory in everyone's hearts infected Angron, and he nodded, revealing his broad and majestic back.
The Primarch was not yet an adult, but his size was easily larger than any transformed Astartes. "Angron." Qin Xia stretched out his finger, condensing heat energy at his fingertips, leaving a small bloody wound on Angron's back. "This is the beginning of your glory."
Angron groaned, the damage and pain caused by the psychic power far exceeded that of the material tools, but he felt pleasure in addition to the pain.
Because the vast majority of people here are happy.
"Now, carve one for me." Qin Xia handed the bone fragment to Angron.
Angron took the bone fragment and hesitated obviously, but it was not because of his own reasons, because he felt that everyone here was confused.
The people here seemed surprised that Qin Xia would request the Triumphal Rope Ceremony.
"No offense," Ono said, "but the Rope of Triumph ceremony is considered a tradition followed by barbaric warriors and fighters in Nuceria. People with knowledge or respectability hate it."
"We have to give each other our backs." Qin Xia turned around, showing his back, and said jokingly: "I don't want someone to see a back without a triumphal rope engraved on it, and then stab it in the back and find out that this back is mine."
"That's not the case. Your back is easy to recognize." Crest said with a smile.
Angron picked up the bone and gently cut Qin Xia's back, but he found that it couldn't cut into Qin Xia's back, so he threw away the bone and used his fingernails to leave a small wound on Qin Xia, marking the beginning of the rope of triumph.
If Qin Xia had not used his psychic power to injure Angron, Angron would have used his fingernails to mark the beginning of the rope of triumph on his own flesh.
The bloody beginning.
……
late at night.
The gladiators crowded around the windows and watched the bodies being dragged outside by slaves.
The noble sons from the Tark family, the knights wearing golden armor, their bodies were lying on the ground, but their heads were looking up at the starry sky.
The slaves piled the bodies of these so-called descendants of God and the bodies of the slave knights together, put them on carts, and then pulled them out of the fighting area of the arena.
"Five nobles are dead, and they're just going to let it go like this?" Angron was worried that the arena or the nobles might retaliate against Qin Xia next.
"If other families' children died in the arena, the gladiators would also be buried with them. But not the Turk family." Ono answered Angron's question. "The head of the Turk family is fair. He will not bury the victorious gladiator with him just because his family's children came to the arena to seek death and got what they wanted."
“That is fair enough.” Angron nodded in agreement.
Ono withdrew his gaze from the arena and turned to look at Qin Xia: "By the way, I feel that the butchers today did not behave as if they knew they were going to face a wizard. Could it be that no one had discovered that you were a wizard before?"
Hearing this, Qin Xia, who was sitting cross-legged on the ground with his eyes closed, twitched his ears slightly, opened his eyes, and looked back at Ono in confusion: "I do have this feeling, but even at this moment, I think the possibility that people outside don't know that I am a wizard is too low."
Honor nodded thoughtfully.
He also understood why Qin Xia thought this was impossible.
It’s not that the people of Nuceria haven’t seen wizards before. Qin Xia’s body is different from that of ordinary people, so he is considered a wizard.
Now that things have come to this, there is no need to worry about it anymore.
