Chapter 206 Rimai Yongga
The Shu Road.

Shen Anzhi grabbed Ge Wensong's sleeve and climbed over the last steep slope. Suddenly, he heard a familiar sound of copper bells coming from ahead. It was the horse bell unique to the ancient Qiang people, hanging around the necks of warhorses, its clear sound carrying a sense of desolation.

"Be careful." Ge Wensong shielded her behind him, his long sword half-drawn, the cold light reflecting off his tense profile.

Beyond the bend ahead, the faint clanging of armor clashing could be heard, along with the cries of children carried on the wind.

Just then, a figure emerged from the dust. It was a young general clad in silver armor, with a scimitar inlaid with turquoise hanging at his waist, and riding a six-legged mythical beast.

“The six-legged beast Congcong.” Anzhi exclaimed in surprise, her mind instantly flashing back to Wolonggang in the Sichuan Basin when she first arrived. The six-legged beast Congcong had killed Tuantuan’s mother and was then chased away by the Qiang youth Rimai Yongga.

"Pfft..." The six-legged beast's breath sprayed onto the ground, actually causing wisps of white smoke to rise from the scorching rocks.

"Shen Anzhi?" Rimai Yongga, now a general, appeared on the back of the six-legged beast Congcong. His silver armor gleamed in the sunlight, revealing a sharply defined face. The features of his former self from Wolonggang and Huanglongxi Village had faded.

His youthful appearance, marked by a scar that runs from his brow bone to his jawline, only adds to his dashing charm.

“Rimai Yongga?” Shen Anzhi was stunned, and almost dropped the demon-slaying sword in his hand. This was no longer the boy who fought the divine beast in Wolonggang. He was clearly a seasoned general who had experienced many battles.

Rimai Yongga flipped off Congcong's back, the copper plates on his armor clanging. He walked up to Anzhi and suddenly burst into laughter, the sound shaking the rocks off the cliff: "I knew you would come. I still remember the promise you made to me in the broken tower of Wolonggang back then."

"Absolutely! Like I said, my mission is to protect Qiang City and Bashu. Wow, time really flies! You're a general now!" Shen Anzhi was a little excited. Three years had passed. He hadn't realized he'd been in Bashu for three years. The last time he saw Rimai Yongga was in Huanglongxi Village.

Rimai Yongga casually tossed the silver spear in his hand to the soldier beside him, his gaze falling on the demon-refining gourd at An Zhi's waist, then sweeping over the sword in Ge Wensong's hand, and finally settling on the back of An Zhi.

Tuan Tuan was gnawing on a rock, still looking unhappy, the bronze armor on its left paw gleaming coldly in the sunlight.

"This...isn't this the fat beast from back then?" Rimai Yongga took a half step back in shock, pointed at Tuantuan's nose, and asked incredulously, "You, you, you really brought it?"

"Otherwise what?" Anzhi said with a wry smile, "Sigh, I'm just rebellious by nature."

Shen Anzhi vaguely remembered that when they were in Wolonggang, Rimai Yongga repeatedly told her not to bring the Iron-Eating Beast, saying that it was difficult to tame. Now it seems that it is indeed true, and it is still like this after three years.

"Awooo..." Suddenly, Congcong behind Rimai Yongga let out a low growl, its six legs pawing the ground restlessly. Congcong was all too familiar with this iron-eating beast in front of it.

The roar startled Tuantuan, who was holding the stone, and it immediately let out a warning growl.

Anzhi and Rimai Yongga exchanged a surprised glance, because they both knew that Tuantuan's mother was killed by this six-legged beast in Wolonggang, which ultimately led to little Tuantuan meeting Anzhi.

"Stop fooling around." Anzhi patted Tuantuan's head, then turned to Rimaiyongga and smiled, "Let me introduce you. This is Ge Wensong, a fellow disciple from Huangshan." She then pointed to Rimaiyongga, "This is Rimaiyongga, the young master of the ancient Qiang tribe. You should call him General now." Ge Wensong bowed respectfully, but his gaze was drawn to Congcong, "It is said that the six-legged Congcong is the mount of the Snow Mountain God, capable of traveling a thousand miles a day. I never expected that it would be subdued by the General."

"Hahaha, Shen Anzhi didn't believe me when I said I would definitely subdue this ancient divine beast." Rimai Yongga scratched his head and asked confidently, "Anzhi, do you remember?"

“I remember, I remember, that’s amazing.” Of course Anzhi remembered. During the duel, Rimai Yongga could have killed the six-legged beast Congcong, but Rimai Yongga let it go because he was optimistic about the potential of this divine beast.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries,
Shen Anzhi then noticed a long line hidden behind the bend in the road. Most of the refugees were dressed in rags; some carried their elderly parents on their backs, while others held crying, hungry children in their arms. At the end of the line were several horse-drawn carts, their ruts still stained with blood.

“This is the last batch.” Rimai Yongga’s voice deepened: “They are people who deliver grain to Qiang City. The official road back to Yading Village has been blocked by the Ge people. My father asked me to personally escort them through the Shu Road.”

He pointed to several people lying on stretchers in the group, their skin covered with bluish-black spots: "The Ge people have rebelled and colluded with the demon soldiers, using poisoned arrows to injure many people. This Shu Road..." He sighed: "I thought it was a way out, but I didn't expect it to be more dangerous than the battlefield."

Anzhi suddenly remembered the corpses on the cliff platform and gripped the Demon-Slaying Sword tightly: "We'll help you."

Ge Wensong nodded in agreement: "It's convenient to go to Qiangcheng along the way, and it's our duty to escort the people."

After humming a couple of times, Tuantuan walked over to the six-legged beast Congcong with a serious expression and looked him up and down...

The journey that followed became a race against death.

Upon reaching the deepest part of the Shu Road, boulders suddenly tumbled down from the cliffs on either side. Rimai Yongga, riding his six-legged beast Congcong, led the way, his silver spear flashing with golden light that cleaved the boulder in two. Ge Wensong protected the flanks, his longsword severing the hanging poisonous vines, while Anzhi used his demon-refining gourd to absorb the pervasive corrosive energy…

The road to Shu is difficult, more difficult than ascending to heaven...

Along the way, some people lost their children, some lost their parents, and several more wounded people were added to the stretchers. Even the six-legged beast Congcong had deep wounds on all six of its legs from poisoned arrows.

"This isn't a road, it's the Yellow Springs!" A doctor carrying a medicine basket slumped to the ground, staring at the misty canyon behind him, his voice filled with despair.

Rimai Yongga walked to Anzhi's side and handed her the water bottle: "The Deng people's territory is just ahead; they'll take these people in." His silver armor was stained with blood, but the scars gleamed in the setting sun: "Anzhi, about Qiang City..."

“I know.” Anzhi took the water bottle, tilted his head back and took a swig. Water droplets slid down his neck and into his collar, carrying a cool determination: “You go and settle the people, Wensong and I will take Tuantuan to Qiang City.”

"Alright." Rimai Yongga climbed onto the back of the six-legged beast Congcong, who let out a deafening neigh. He reined in the reins, his silver spear pointing at Qiang City: "I'll come to support you once I've settled the people! Remember, the sword of Shu Mountain is not broken, the fire in Qiang City is not extinguished, we..."

“We will not lose.” Shen Anzhi continued, his demon-slaying sword trembling slightly in his hand.

The winds of the Shu Road still howled behind us, carrying the sighs of the dead, but the road ahead was illuminated by this light.
