Chapter 10 Combat Skills and Magic

Chapter 10 Combat Skills and Magic

Barn was the oldest of the four remaining White Scar warriors and the technical sergeant in the ten-man squad. He now naturally took over the command.

Out of caution, the White Scars are now divided into two groups. He is patrolling this side of the portal with a battle brother, while Bao Bu Tong is guarding the spaceship on the other side of the portal with another battle brother.

Although Governor Agaro's quick support in bringing troops to support the cause was a timely help, sending only two ounces of coal in the coldest days of winter is really not of much use.

We can only let them dig trenches, build fortifications and give them more things to do. This will increase their survival rate in battle and prevent their morale from collapsing before the battle even starts.

Barn saw with his own eyes those militiamen who looked more like workers than soldiers. When he learned that six Space Marines had been killed in the battle, his expression instantly changed from excitement to panic.

In order to boost morale, Barn and his men took out all the spare equipment in the spaceship and distributed it to the militiamen.

The quality of the laser guns used by the Space Marines' auxiliary forces was much better than the hand-made gunpowder automatic guns of the civilians. The militiamen who received the new weapons immediately became excited.

Barn also moved half of the ship's promethium fuel over, intending to use it in subsequent wars.

The leader of the natives was also very tactful. He took the initiative to bring out a large amount of food and various meat products. Barn recognized that the staple food should be bread made of wheat flour, and the meat also included extremely rare chicken and beef, which were precious products of Terra's native species.

These made Barn even more curious about the local location. It seemed that there were many relics of ancient Terra preserved here, but they did not remember anything related to Holy Terra.

Perhaps the aliens who once ruled them deliberately destroyed human history. According to the leader of the indigenous people, John, before the six gods appeared, the humans in this world were not even slaves, but livestock.

Barn has always been interested in history. He joined the White Scars' expedition team for the purpose of exploring the history of mankind's golden age. Sometimes his battle brothers would even complain that he was like a grease gun guy whose eyes would light up when he saw the ruins (physics).

However, unfortunately, there is really no time to explore now. No matter what, we can only win the current war first. Fortunately, the unique martial arts and magic of this world are also very interesting.

After walking around the camp a few times and casually killing a peeping creature of some unknown kind, Barn got off the motorcycle and continued to patrol the battlefield with John, pushing the motorcycle.

The two chatted as they walked, discussing things related to magic and combat skills.

"So believing in magic doesn't require you to actually believe in the relevant gods, right?"

"Yes, Lord Baines. I am a bishop and a fifth-rank magic caster of faith magic, so I know very well that faith magic does not require true belief in any god. The idea that devout faith is required is mainly a propaganda of the church for its own benefit."

"Oh, very interesting. It sounds like this faith magic is not like witchcraft, but more like a kind of technology that anyone can use. The strength depends on talent."

"That's right. The main principle of faith magic is (500 words omitted here)."

"Show me how to do it."

"Please see, this is the simplest faith magic - Light Magic. Its only use is to summon a beam of light similar to a torch."

John said as he summoned a bright ball of golden light in his hands.

Baines watched John's movements carefully, reviewed the principles he described in his mind, then stretched out his hand and performed the same movements.

A bright ball of light was born in his power armor glove.

"It seems that these so-called magics are indeed not warp sorcery. Even I can use them. Tell me more about them. Perhaps they will be useful on the battlefield later."

Seeing John perform the Light Magic so casually, his jaw almost dropped.

"Sir, is this really your first time to come into contact with faith magic?"

"Of course. Go on."

"Uh uh, by the six great gods, this is truly a miracle, I say."

"Six Great Gods, I will tell you about the Imperial Truth when I have the chance."

"Ah? What truth?"

"I'll tell you later. Let's continue with the magic knowledge."

"Yes, sir."

..................................................................

Behind the battlefield, all kinds of strange noises kept coming out of the confessional in the church area. The frightened natives hid far away. They wanted to spy on what was going on inside, but they didn't dare.

They respect but are also afraid of the mysterious powers that saved them, and the red-robed weirdo in the confessional is the most frightening of them all. Six great gods!

How could there be such a person? Wasn't he some kind of weird undead being?

In the impression of the natives of the Church

These people who suddenly appeared were all very strange, but the one in red robe was the least human. His voice did not sound human at all. It was more like the noise made by metal scraping against each other, accompanied by the rustling sound of electric current. The lower half of his face was wearing a strange metal mask. No, it didn't look like a mask. It felt like the lower half of his face was replaced with metal.

One of his hands was a metal claw, and there were four metal tentacles behind him. This strange man came with the reinforcements. As soon as he arrived, he brought many undead people to the confessional and drove everyone out. Of course, no one dared to stay there.

"Oh my god, what are you all doing here?"

The Christian people were startled by the sudden voice behind them. They turned around and found a tall middle-aged man standing behind them. He was wearing a wide-brimmed hat, had a gray beard, and was wearing a suit similar to aristocratic clothing but a little pale from washing. On his chest hung a large necklace with a double-headed eagle.

The people of the Theocracy hurriedly saluted the man. They knew that this man was the leader of the second batch of reinforcements, and seemed to be a duke from somewhere.

"Okay, okay, don't stay here, let's go, it's boring."

The leader, Jim, waved his hand casually to drive away the people watching from a distance, then he walked to the confessional and knocked on the door.

"Hey, what are you doing? You're making everything smelly."

"..."

"Hey, is the sounder broken?"

"..."

"By the Emperor, if you don't speak, I'll kick the door."

"That's enough, the door is not locked, come in."

A metallic sound without intonation came from the door. After hearing this sound, Jim nodded with satisfaction and opened the door.

A strong stench immediately rushed through his nose and directly into his brain. The pungent smell was so spicy that he started to snot and cry.

"(Low Gothic curse words), the last time I smelled something this bad was during the liberation of Agaro, what the hell are you doing, old Otto?"

After getting used to the strong stench, Jim saw the situation in the house clearly. The original religious items, tables, chairs and benches were thrown aside, and various corpses and moving corpses were placed on the vacated space.

"I (low Gothic curse words), old Otto, you are not a geneticist, what are you doing playing with corpses?"

"Old Jim, you know nothing. Oh, the lungs of the Messiah. Do you know how important these things are? Look at these corpses, these rotten garbage. They are alive and moving. This is totally unscientific. And these old bones, the colons of the Messiah. How do these things move? I can write at least forty papers with these things!"

"Maybe psychic?"

"Impossible! I can tell that these things have no trace of psychic energy. Instead, they have some kind of energy that is currently unclear. If I can figure it out, I will definitely be able to return to Mars, and my abilities will definitely be recognized by the Order!"

"Okay, okay, I get it."

Jim said perfunctorily. He knew more or less why this Mechanicus priest named Otto was so excited. After all, he was the only Mechanicus priest on his planet, and he had known him for more than ten years. As for the Mechanicus priest who was sent to his poor and desolate place, his position in the Mechanicus could only be said to be bleak.

Now seeing that Father Otto, who has been in Agaro for more than ten years, has not accepted his fate and still wants to return to Mars, let him do it, maybe he can be of some help.

"By the way, if you are interested in these things, why don't you ask the natives of this world? According to them, there is a strange thing called necromancy here that can be used to resurrect the dead."

"What!? Why didn't I think of that, (binary expletive), I actually forgot something so important, so simple, by the Lord Om Messiah, my thesis, my sage status, here I come!"

Old Otto grabbed his servo skull and rushed out of the room, almost knocking Governor Jim down.

"Hey, you can do research if you want, but don't forget to modify our equipment. I tell you, if you lose, you won't have a chance to work on your thesis."

Father Otto came back cursing, pointed a mechanical claw at Governor Jim and said:

"What do you want to modify? Tell me quickly. I'm in a hurry."
